Four fans arrested for alleged racist abuse during Manchester City v Stoke match - 24/02/2014
Source : http://www.mirror.co.uk/
Two men and a youth, who are believed to be Stoke supporters, have now been banned from entering Greater Manchester
Four fans have been arrested over alleged racist abuse during Manchester City's 1-0 win over Stoke at the Eithad Stadium on Saturday.
Two men and a youth are believed to be Stoke supporters and have now been banned from entering Greater Manchester.
A fourth man was arrested over allegations he racially abused a steward.
A 37-year-old, a 50-year-old and a 17-year-old were held on Saturday afternoon on suspicion of racist chanting.
A fourth man, also believed to be a Stoke fan, was held on suspicion of racially abusing a steward, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The men have all been bailed and cannot enter GMP’s force area while investigations are ongoing. The 17-year-old has received a caution.
All four are understood to be from the Staffordshire area.
It is rare for police to make arrests for racist chanting at City matches, but nationally there have been issues at other Premier League grounds, most recently Tottenham.
GMP are still investigating and seeking more details from other fans at the game as well as from Manchester City officials.
It is not yet clear whether police are seeking CCTV footage of alleged incidents.
A Manchester City spokesman said: "We take a zero tolerance approach to evidence of discrimination in any form. We are supporting the police in all aspects of their investigation."
Bryan Shaw, chairman of Stoke supporters club, said: “I condemn any form of racism.
"We don’t need this type of behaviour at football matches. You’ve got to treat others the way you’d like to be treated and spoken to yourself.”

Crystal Palace fan is arrested by police over alleged coin-throwing at Wayne Rooney - 26/02/2014
Source : http://www.ghanamma.com/
A Crystal Palace supporter has been arrested by police after Wayne Rooney had coins thrown at him at Selhurst Park last Saturday. The Manchester United striker was pictured handing coins to referee Michael Oliver which were apparently hurled at him by supporters in the Holmesdale Road Stand. A bottle and cigarette lighter were also seen on the field. Police confirmed a fan had been questioned on suspicion of throwing an object at Rooney. A spokesman said: “We continue to liaise with club officials and the referee over allegations of coin-throwing at the match. We will continue to make further inquiries over the coming days.” Palace co-chairman Steve Browett has vowed to ban anyone found to be responsible from the club. Speaking about a pre-match display organised by fans, he said on the Crystal Palace “Five-Year Plan” podcast: “I was really angry because you’ve got guys who have spent hundreds, thousands of hours getting that display right and you turn on Match of the Day and all you see is some t— throwing a coin at Wayne Rooney. One idiot has screwed it up for everybody else and it makes me so angry. I hope somebody turns him in because he’s not welcome at Selhurst Park.” Meanwhile, Crystal Palace midfielder Jason Puncheon has been charged by the Football Association following a series of tweets he made responding to criticism of his penalty miss against Spurs by Neil Warnock. Puncheon – whom Warnock signed on loan while manager at Queens Park Rangers in September 2011 – spurned the chance to give Palace an early lead at White Hart Lane last month when he struck his spot-kick horribly wide. Tottenham went on to win the game 2-0. The 27-year-old took exception to comments Warnock made in his role as a pundit on TalkSport. Warnock said he would not have “trusted [Puncheon] with a penalty. You’ve got to have somebody a little bit more cool, and he’s not like that, Jason.” An angry Puncheon posted several comments on the social media site, only to quickly delete them. Warnock later hinted he was considering legal action against the player. Puncheon, who has been charged with “failing to act in the best interests of the game” and improper conduct, has until Thursday to respond.

Hundreds of Swans fans miss start of Napoli game - because 'police wouldn't let them get to the game'
Hundreds of Swans fans missed the first twenty minutes of their match against Napoli, because police allegedly would not let them get to the ground.
Some claim Italian police delayed their buses, despite them arriving in plenty of time for the start of the match, in order to avoid any potential clashes with Napoli fans .
Steven Carroll, editor of independent fanzine Swansea Oh Swansea fanzine, who travelled to Napoli for the game, said: “I took a coach from Rome, and we got to the ground around 6pm. We were planning to get in before that, so we were already thinking something was untoward.
“I think they wanted us to get in late to avoid the Ultras fans.
“Not many got in before the Swans goal.”

Six Slovenians arrested for assaulting Sevilla fans following Maribor-Sevilla Europa League match - 26/02/2014
Source : http://www.insidespanishfootball.com

According to the police five people were injured; two Sevilla fans, two Italian bus drivers and one Slovenian when the party, on their way home from the match, stopped at a petrol station in the town of Celje and were assualted by a group of Slovenian men, who had been following them from the stadium.

Zenit St. Petersburg - Borussia Dortmund - 25/02/2014

More than 50 Dortmund fans injured by Russian hooligans
More than 50 Dortmund fans were injured by Russian hooligans last Tuesday during their away trip in the Champions League against Zenit St. Petersburg.
According to the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, the Russian hooligans planned their violent activities and even had patrols to find out where the German fan groups were without any police attendance.
Some of the German fans were asked about something in Russian and then were beaten if they weren't able to answer, with the incident reported by ESPN.
Hopefully there won’t be any revenge from German hooligans in three weeks when the return match will take place in Dortmund. It would though be wrong now to judge all Russian football fans or to demand that Zenit should be banned from international football competitions, as one could read in some online discussion forums.
Instead of that, FIFA should use the time until the World Cup will take place in Russia in 2018 to create an international awareness and a public sensibility about this topic, so that the Russian authorities feel pressured to finally do something against this well and long known problem.
Pressure needs to be placed upon the country, as an upcoming World Cup host, so that international tourists can visit the games in four years without being afraid of becoming a victim of aggressive Russian hooligans.
Unfortunately both international football associations haven’t demonstrated recently that they could take social issues more serious than their economic interests. That’s why it’s so important that the media constantly reports about this kind of problem as long as it exists.

Dortmund supporter handed six-year ban for Nazi salute - 25/02/2014
Source : http://www.dailymail.co.uk
Borussia Dortmund have banned a supporter for the next six years, after he was heard shouting the Nazi phrase 'Sieg Heil!' during a minute’s silence. Prior to Dortmund’s shock 3-0 defeat in Hamburg on Saturday, the home club paid their respects to former masseur and club legend Hermann Rieger, who died last week. The silence was disturbed, however, when one Dortmund fan piped up with the offensive shout. Greeted with boos from other fans, the man was removed from the away block, and later from the stadium. On Tuesday, Dortmund confirmed that they had implemented a stadium ban until the June 30, 2020.
To shout 'Sieg Heil' is illegal in Germany, and the 33-year-old offender, who is reported to have been under the influence of alcohol, is also facing criminal charges. Dortmund thanked Hamburger SV for their co-operation, and insisted that the club stands for 'tolerance and diversity', and that they are using 'every available means to fight against racism and discrimination'. Directly after the final whistle on Saturday, they informed Hamburg that they would be implementing a three-year ban at least. It is not the first time that the club has had problems with far right extremism. In November, they banned a fan after he made the Hitler salute at a home game against VfB Stuttgart, and in 2012, reports suggested that right wing extremists were even to be found among the stewards at Dortmund. Neither is it just in the stadiums. Last autumn, the club won a court case to prevent the Dortmund branch of one far right political party from using the club colours of black and yellow on their campaign posters. The club were also one of several to distribute a leaflet among fans this season informing them of which gestures, symbols and slogans could be interpreted as racist, offensive and unacceptable.
