Assistant referee hit by smoke bomb thrown onto pitch by Tottenham fans against Villa
The FA has launched an investigation after an assistant referee was hit by a smoke bomb thrown onto the pitch by Tottenham fans as they celebrated Andros Townsend's goal against Aston Villa. The bomb was hurled from the middle of the Doug Ellis Stand, after the goal on 31 minutes and it hit David Bryan between the shoulders. Police have arrested two men after the missile was thrown at the assistant.
Police and stewards appeared to remove someone from the crowd immediately after the incident. A West Midlands Police spokesman said on Twitter: ‘Police have arrested two men after a lit flare was thrown on the pitch during the Villa v Spurs game - the flare hit a linesman. ‘The two men aged 25 and 47 were arrested following the incident at Villa Park. Fortunately the linesman wasn't injured.’ An FA spokesman said: 'The FA will investigate this matter, which is unacceptable. We will await the match officials' report and will be speaking to the clubs. 'Such incidents highlight the dangers of pyrotechnics being used in a football stadium.' Tottenham went on to win the match 2-0 with a further goal from Roberto Soldado. Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas condemned the people responsible. He said: 'Obviously it is not great to see. It should be avoided completely. I think it touched the linesman. 'I think situations like this do not have a place in football. I sincerely hope it does not happen again.'
The FA have confirmed they will make an investigation because what happened was 'unacceptable'. The restart after the goal was delayed as the smoking missile was removed but Bryan was unharmed and able to continue.

Anderlecht-PSG : HOOLIGAN MENACE - 21/10/2013
Source : http://www.bradenton.com
Only 400 PSG fans will travel to Brussels for Wednesday's Group C match against Anderlecht and no fans will be issued tickets if they try to travel independently amid concerns of a hooligan threat between the two teams. PSG has contacted Belgian authorities to alert them of the potential hooligan menace.
Last season, similarly, PSG warned Croatian authorities that about 100 hooligans were rumored to be travelling to the match against Dinamo Zagreb. The French Interior Ministry issued a decree banning Dinamo Zagreb fans from attending the return match — although there was fighting the night before the game between rival thugs in the Bastille area.

Ajax hooligans rip up Parkhead seats and try to break through steward lines as trouble flares at Champions League clash
TROUBLE started during the game at Parkhead with fans reporting ugly scenes between Ajax fans and stewards.
MARAUDING Ajax fans charged police and stewards last night as trouble flared on Champions League night at Celtic Park.
Dutch yobs tried to break through a security cordon to get at home supporters, and ripped up seats and hurled them at officials and Celtic fans.
The ugly scenes threatened to mar Celtic’s 2-1 win, which kept their hopes alive of reaching the knockout stages of the competition.
Trouble flared in the Ajax section of the ground after James Forrest scored from the penalty spot to put Celtic 1-0 up.
About 20 of the Amsterdam club’s hooligans tried to smash through lines of stewards to get at Celtic supporters.
Ranks of police, who had earlier formed a cordon around the Dutch fans as they marched them towards Parkhead, had to step in and restore order.
One fan at the game said: “It all kicked off just before half time. About 20 fans started to get out of control.
“They were ripping up seats and throwing them on the ground.
“A few even tried to charge at the stewards. It was turning pretty ugly.”
Police said they also dealt with “some instances of disorder” as fans made their way to the game.
Earlier, most of the 3000 Ajax travelling fans mingled happily with Celtic supporters in the bars of the city centre.
But transport police were continuing to investigate reports of a large-scale disturbance involving Dutch supporters at Central Station on Monday night.
It’s understood Dutch fans chased a small group of Celtic supporters into the station, where a fight broke out in one of the shops. Two Dutchmen aged 17 and 40 were arrested.
