France deploys 4,000 police for France-Israel 'Nations League' football match
The high-profile match, which will be held in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis, is being closely monitored due to rising concerns over security and the potential for violent clashes.
Around 2,600 gendarmes and police officers will be stationed around the stadium, with plainclothes officers also deployed in the stands.
The French elite riot police (CRS) will patrol Paris to ensure public order, and the hotel housing the Israeli national team will be under constant surveillance.
To further secure the event, the first few rows of the stadium will remain empty to prevent potential pitch invasions.
This significant security presence follows calls from some groups to relocate the match due to the heightened tensions surrounding the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.
However, French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau has strongly rejected such proposals, emphasizing that giving in to threats of violence and antisemitism would not be an option.
"France will not back down," Retailleau stated, underlining the importance of maintaining the match at its scheduled venue.
The deployment of 4,000 officers comes after several incidents involving violence and antisemitism tied to recent football matches involving Israeli teams.

The images show Blues supporters fleeing from several dozen Israel supporters running in their direction. The stewards then intervened to separate, via a double safety cordon.

40 arrests at tense France-Israel football match in Paris - 15/11/2024
Source: https://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/
Police made 40 arrests at a tense football match between France and Israel in Paris but the city's police chief said on Nov. 15 the huge security operation had "worked very well.”
The Nations League game at the Stade de France on Nov. 14 took place under intense security after fans of Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv were attacked in Amsterdam last week.
Around 4,000 police and members of the French security forces patrolled inside and outside the stadium, assisted by 1,600 civilian security personnel.
Stewards had to intervene at one point to stop fans of both nations from clashing in the stands, an AFP reporter saw.
Videos posted on the X social media platform showed fans, some with Israeli flags, running along the rows of seats at the stadium while other supporters whistled and booed before members of the security team separated them.
"A fight broke out which was immediately contained by the stewards," Paris police chief Laurent Nunez told France 2 television.
"The match went very well from a security point of view."
A security source said one person was arrested immediately after the incident and another was detained after being identified from CCTV images.
Just 16,611 people watched the game in the 80,000-capacity stadium, the lowest attendance for a match involving the French men's national team since the stadium was built in the late 1990s.

5 new arrests made in Amsterdam over violence that authorities say targeted Israeli soccer fans - 15/11/2024
Source: https://www.nbcnews.com/
With tensions high in the Dutch capital, dozens of people set a tram on fire Monday night. Police said it wasn't clear whether the unrest was related to the events surrounding last week's game between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Dutch police have made five more arrests over the violence which followed a match involving an Israeli football team in Amsterdam on Thursday night.
The five men, all from the Netherlands and aged between 18 and 37, are suspected of "public violence against persons" before and after the Maccabi Tel Aviv match against local team Ajax.
Unrest flared up again in the city on Monday evening when an empty tram and a police car were set alight. Some rioters reportedly shouted "Free Palestine", according to Dutch reports.
Prime Minister Dick Schoof said earlier on Monday that "antisemitic attacks against Israelis and Jews" were "nothing short of shocking and reprehensible".
Demonstrations have been temporarily banned in Amsterdam until Thursday, although a pro-Palestinian protest has been allowed to go ahead in a park away from the centre. Activists want another protest to take place outside Amsterdam city hall.

Nations League game abandoned after Kosovo walk off vs. Romania
The UEFA Nations League match between Romania and Kosovo was suspended in stoppage time with the score 0-0 in Bucharest on Friday.
There were scuffles between players from both teams and Kosovo players walked off the pitch.
UEFA did not explain why the game was cut short but Kosovo players were reportedly upset at hearing pro-Serbian slogans. In a note on its website, UEFA said that the game had been "abandoned" and that it would "communicate further information in due course."

Shock moment Scottish football ultras clash on busy Glasgow street as fans chased by rival hooligans into pub doorway
There were ugly scenes beforehand as anything up to 100 fans clashed on Maryhill Road. Footage shows Thistle fans apparently being chased by their Accies counterparts, with some running away and others attempting to barricade themselves in the doorway of the Munn's Vaults pub. The fans in the doorway are wearing black, red and yellow balaclavas in the colours of Partick Thistle - who attempt to bring down the shutters for their own protection and finally succeed in doing so.
There's been claims online since about fans carrying knives and various other weapons. Police Scotland confirmed to The Scottish Sun that officers attended the scene. Police Sergeant Debbie Cameron, Maryhill, said: “Around 2.35pm on Saturday, 16 November, 2024, we were called to a report of a disturbance on Maryhill Road, Glasgow. “Officers attended, however there was nothing ongoing upon arrival and there are no reported injuries.
