Arrests as tensions flare at Wolves vs Birmingham City derby
After the final whistle, there was an exchange of missiles between opposing fans in the Steve Bull Stand upper tier and the lower tier, where the 2,600 Blues fans were.
Tensions mounted after shouts from the visitors’ section disrupted the minute’s silence for Remembrance Day before the 12.15pm kick-off of the game, which ended 0-0.
Wolves fans in the South Bank responded by booing the culprits and the rest of the silence passed without incident in front of Molineux’s biggest crowd of the season, 25,135.
After the game, what appeared to be an orange flare went off on the South Bank as several dozen fans from both sides goaded each other for 15 minutes following the final whistle.
Dozens of police and stewards lined up the track to prevent the sets of fans getting to each other.
Police moved in to the visitors’ section to disperse the Blues fans.
Wolves spokesman Matt Grayson said: “The club are aware of a number of issues between sections of rival supporters at Saturday’s Wolves versus Birmingham City fixture.
“Wolves will assist West Midlands Police wherever possible and will help them to identify any potential offenders, including providing any relevant CCTV footage.”
A statement from Blues said: “The club was disappointed that a small minority attempted to disrupt the minute’s silence before today’s match at Molineux.
“However, it is pleasing that the vast majority of both sets of supporters ensured that this incident didn’t overshadow what was a fitting tribute to our fallen heroes.”
A Blues spokesman confirmed they will co-operate with Wolves and West Midlands Police to identify troublemakers.
West Midlands Police spokesman Sarah Astbury said one person had been arrested at Wolverhampton railway station before the game for throwing a missile, and officers were continuing to monitor the situation.

Napoli host Roma in high-risk Serie A clash
Napoli host Roma on Saturday in a clash whose title repercussions could be eclipsed by the painful memories for the family of the last victim of Italian football-related violence. The sides meet at Napoli's San Paolo stadium for the first time since the death of 31-year-old Ciro Esposito, a Napoli fan who was killed by a hardline Roma 'ultra' on the fringes of the Italian Cup final last May.
Esposito was allegedly shot by a former 'ultra' leader, Daniele De Santis, who has since been arrested and is facing manslaughter charges.
When Esposito died on June 25, Napoli fans called for revenge.
At every Napoli home game, banners adorned with 'Ciro Vive' (Ciro is alive) are regularly unfurled.
Faced with the prospect of violent clashes between Napoli and Roma fans, police have tightened security with all Roma fans banned from travelling to the game.
While Esposito's mother, Antonella Leardi has called for calm authorities have taken further measures by banning the sale of tickets to any fans from the larger Rome region of Latium.
In Italy, identity cards must be shown by fans when buying tickets.

Only three arrests at Manchester derby as up to 400 police go on duty
Police made just three arrests at the derby clash at the Etihad.
GMP say they spent months ahead of United and City’s first clash of the season gathering intelligence to prevent fans coming to blows.
Senior officers revealed they had between 350 and 400 officers on duty, including mounted police, dogs and the police helicopter patrolling the ground.
Police say they were also keeping a close eye on around half-a-dozen suspected hooligans who had completed football banning orders and were now free to attend the match.
A group of United ‘at risk’ fans were stopped by police at The Cemetery Metrolink Stop in Droylsden ahead of the match, 12 were found not to have any tickets and issued with dispersal orders.
The remaining eight people were escorted to the match by police.
Police made just three arrests inside the ground with one man arrested for a racially aggravated disorder and two men arrested for setting off flares.
Officers were also dealt with two boys aged 11 and 16 who attempted to gain access to the ground, one of whom was found to be missing from home.

Up to ONE HUNDRED hooligans in violent street brawl following Manchester derby with some fighting with wooden poles
Footage has emerged of a violent street brawl involving up to a hundred football hooligans after Sunday's Manchester derby. Some of the thugs used wooden poles as fighting broke out among rival fans under two hours after Manchester City had beaten Manchester United in a Premier League clash. Violence erupted after a group of trouble-makers stormed the Eastlands Bar, near Manchester City's Etihad stadium, which was still packed with celebrating fans.
The violence left one man, 48, on the ground after it appears he had been punched and kicked in the head. Police were on the scene moments later and arrested one man they found using a chair as a weapon. Four others were arrested nearby. Paramedics were called to the scene but the man who had been felled declined to go to hospital despite a broken nose, cuts and other head injuries. It is understood none of the people involved in the disturbance has made a complaint of assault.
The five suspects who were arrested have been released on police bail pending further enquiries into the street brawl. The five arrested were among eight made by police. Three United fans were also arrested inside the Etihad. Manchester City won the hotly anticipated game thanks to a second half strike by Sergio Aguero while the match also featured a red card for United's Chris Smalling. Police had been on alert after a handful of known United hooligans were free to attend the game as their football banning orders had expired. Before the game, police issued 35 'dispersal orders' to prevent trouble-makers getting to the ground. Police bosses say the derby passed off relatively peacefully. A spokesman for GMP confirmed officers attended Stanley Road in Beswick at 4.45pm, some 90 minutes after the final whistle but by then the mob had disappeared. They confirmed they found a man of 48 with head injuries, although he was conscious. 'He refused ambulance treatment,' said the spokesman.

Sarajevo fans set football field alight, clash with police
A football match in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital Sarajevo turned violent as fans bombarded players with a barrage of flares and clashed with police. At least 15 people were injured in the brawl – but the interrupted game then continued.
The city’s FK Zeljeznicar stadium hosted a football match between FK Zeljeznicar and FK Sarajevo on Sunday.
The game began with FK Sarajevo scoring its first goal at the 13th minute of the game – to which its supporters responded by lighting flares in celebration.
However, after FK Zeljeznicar tied the score at the 22nd minute, disgruntled fans of the home team began to throw the burning flares on the field, targeting players.
Thick smoke and fire spread from the flares, covering the stadium.
But the riled up fans of FK Sarajevo did not stop there; they exchanged punches with dozens of baton-wielding police officers, who attempted to push the flare-throwing rioters out of the stadium.
At least 15 fans were injured in clashes and were transported to a hospital.
At the 33rd minute players had to be escorted to their locker rooms, as the violence got out of hand. However, no arrests were made.

Tel-Aviv Derby Abandoned After Fan Attacks Player
Stupid referees ruin good football matches. Roi Reinshreiber made an appalling decision in the derby match between Hapoel and Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the Israeli Premier League, sending Eran Zahavi off with a red card for defending himself against a fan that stormed the pitch and attacked him. The match was later abandoned.
With the match at a 1-1 draw in the first half, an Hapoel fan ran onto the pitch and attacked Zahavi, who retaliated, defending himself against the kicks and punches. Soon enough security came to handle the fan. Instead of trying to calm everything, Reinshreiber, not the most experienced of referees, sent Zahavi off the pitch with a red card. After 15 minutes of ruckus, the match was renewed, but very soon Maccabi Tel-Aviv fans invaded the pitch, trying to tell their players to leave the football field. The referee stopped the match, deciding it won’t be completed due to a dumb decision he initially made.

Scotland: Six men held over alleged fan violence after Kilmarnock v Ayr cup tie - 04/11/2014
Source : http://news.stv.tv
Six football fans have been arrested in connection with alleged violence and disorder after a Kilmarnock v Ayr United match.
The arrests followed an investigation into alleged fan trouble after the Ayrshire derby League Cup match at Rugby Park on August 26.
The police operation in Ayrshire on Tuesday has resulted in six men being held by officers.
The joint operation involved local officers from Ayrshire Division, Gangs Task Force and the National Football Co-Ordination Unit Scotland (FoCUS).
The men are aged 17, 18, 21, 25, 27 and 28 years. They have all been reported to the procurator fiscal under section 1 of the Offensive Behaviour at Football (Scotland) Act 2012.
All men have been released on an undertaking to appear at court at a later date.
Sergeant Colin Convery, who is based at Ayrshire Divisional Violence Reduction Unit said: "Police Scotland is committed to delivering a policing plan that will ensure events, such as football matches, take place in a safe environment.
"Violence and disorder on our streets, disrupts the lives of our local communities and it will not be tolerated.
"If people think that because they are not arrested on the day then they have got away with it – let me assure that this is not the case.
"We will carry out extensive enquiries to ensure that those who engage in such violence and disorder are brought to justice at the earliest opportunity."

Galatasaray fans hurl flares into the Dortmund fans’ section
Borussia Dortmund’s 4-1 win over Galatasaray in the Champions League was overshadowed by the Turkish side’s fans throwing flares onto the pitch and into the home supporter’s stand.
But, true to form, the Galatasaray fans made their presence felt throughout the match, setting off firecrackers, smoke bombs and flares prompting the referee to twice stop the match. Teams took refuge in the dugout as flares plunked down on the pitch and smoke billowed. Even worse, the away supporters launched fireworks and flares at the Dortmund supporters, making for scary scenes in the home stands.
Similar to the scenes at Arsenal a few weeks back, the Galatasaray players went over to the away supporters and pleaded with them to stop the nonsense. The scenes at the Emirates resulted in seven fans getting arrested – two before the game for attempting to enter the ground with flares before another five afterwards. Expect more of the same tonight in Germany.

German police arrest 21 Galatasaray fans
Police have arrested 21 Galatasaray fans and opened an attempted manslaughter probe in connection with violence at the Champions League match at Borussia Dortmund.
Police also detained and checked the identities of 700 Galatasaray supporters around Tuesday's match. Authorities say most of them are German residents.
Galatasaray fans set off firecrackers, smoke bombs and hurled flares, chairs and other objects at Dortmund supporters, briefly interrupting the match twice.
There were also disturbances before the match, and police prevented a clash between the rival fans after the game won by Dortmund 4-1.
Police reported no injuries.

Arsenal and Anderlecht fans 'throw bottles and planks' in mass brawl outside King's Cross hotels
Arsenal and Anderlecht fans clashed in a mass brawl outside King's Cross station last night after the Gunners' disappointing 3-3 draw in the Champions League.
About 30 football fans were seen throwing bottles and planks at each other when the fight erupted in north London.
Witnesses said they began punching each other in the street, bringing traffic to a standstill.
Guests at the nearby Hotel Megaro in Belgrove Street were told to stay in their rooms after the fracas broke out just before 11.30pm.
Police were called to the scene within minutes but the group fled.
A taxi driver from Islington, who did not want to be named, said he saw one man sprawled on the ground while four or five others punched and kicked him.
Describing the attack, he told the Standard: "I pulled over in Belgrove Street and got out to go to McDonalds.
"But when I got out of the car I suddenly saw a bunch of guys shouting and swearing. They were approaching the Hotel Megaro.
"They started throwing bottles and planks at a group of men standing outside. Then they started throwing punches in the road. Things went crazy- it was an all out brawl. Traffic was at a standstill. I drove away because I did not want to get something thrown at me. It was scary - there were a lot of people fighting".
He added: "You don't expect it from Arsenal fans. They are usually the cautious ones. I was surprised because they are not normally like that. I have lived in Islington all my life and usually people just leg it home after the match."
James Sandrini, operations director for the St Pancras Hotel group said only one of its hotel guests expressed concern about the brawl.
He said managers at the Hotel Megaro were speaking to police about providing officers with CCTV footage of the brawl, adding that the incident was not common in the area.
He said: "We understand there were two sets of supporters - one being Arsenal and the other being Anderlecht fans. Two Anderlecht fans were taken to hospital.
"We have a number of Belgium supporters staying with us and they were a bit riled up. The group dispersed pretty quickly as the police arrived on the scene.
"We told our guests to stay in the hotel. We only had one comment from a guest saying it was pretty worrying what happened. People were able to check in to the hotel shortly after the fight."
A spokesperson for Camden Police said one man was taken to hospital with minor injuries. No arrests have been made.

Police arrest two Anderlecht fans for alleged monkey chants at Arsenal star Danny Welbeck
Met Police arrested two fans for a racially aggravated public order offence but say they will face "no further action".
One Anderlecht fan was arrested and is still in custody for throwing a smoke bomb on the pitch, one was cautioned for possessing a Class B drug and one was arrested for a public order offence, although that is understood not to be racially aggravated.
The only Arsenal fan arrested was arrested for drinking alcohol inside the stadium.
Belgian fans fought with stewards in the first half before the police arrived to calm the situation.
Neiither Welbeck or Gunners boss Arsene Wenger heard the chanting and the club will take no further action following the incident.
It's not the first time Welbeck has been the subject to racist taunts.
A Chelsea fan made a 'monkey gesture' at him in October 2012 - but the case was dropped.
A Met Police statement on the incident read: “Following an investigation which included taking witness statements from those around him in the crowd and viewing CCTV footage, a decision was taken with the Crown Prosecution Service to proceed with no further action.”

Banned CSKA fans thrown out of Etihad Stadium at Man City match
A group of around 80 CSKA Moscow supporters were thrown out of last night's Champions League match at Manchester City. Fans of the Russian club were banned from the clash by Uefa following a series of offences including racist chanting. Dozens defied the restriction but were quickly spotted by home supporters at the Etihad Stadium. Stewards asked the group to leave and they did so. No arrests were made. The flashpoint occurred when striker Seydou Doumbia scored his second goal to give CSKA e a 2-1 lead. As no criminal offences had been committed police left the issue to the club. The CSKA fans complied with the request and left the stadium. CSKA supporters had been banned for three home games (which was reduced to two after an appeal) and two away Champions League matches. However, around 300 supporters were present at their home match against City at the Arena Khimki - something which prompted an angry response from City captain Vincent Kompany.

Clash between Almirante Brown hooligans leaves one dead
One fatality, a seriously injured individual and 20 arrests was the bloody outcome of an internal battle between 'barra brava' hooligans of Primera B Metropolitana team Almirante Brown, whose game against Estudiantes de Buenos Aires was suspended following the shootout.
According to police sources, the armed confrontation took place close to the Fragata Sarmiento stadium in the Buenos Aires province district of La Matanza, on the intersection of Route 3 and Rucci street.
Gunshots were fired between the "Monster's Barra", the hooligan faction who recently took control of the terraces; and "The 20s", a rival faction amongst Almirante's violent fan section.
Following the clashes, the Argentine Football Association decided to suspend the game scheduled to kick off at 3.05 pm, against current Metropolitana Zone A leaders Estudiantes.

Hanover police said on Friday they would ban a demonstration against fundamentalist Islam which had been registered for November 15th by a hooligan group.
Police chief in the Lower Saxony capital Volker Kluwe said that they had informed the demonstration's organizer in writing after he cancelled a face-to-face meeting with officers.
Kluwe said he was worried that allowing the protest to go ahead could lead to an outbreak of violence like the one two weeks ago in Cologne on October 26th, which saw thousands of hooligans and police battling in the streets.
The march was organized by Hooligans Against Salafists (HoGeSa), which brought together previously warring groups of hard-drinking thugs in an outpouring of anti-Islamic sentiment.
The violence left 49 police officers injured and the centre of Cologne locked down for hours.
The organizer of the planned November 15th march, an unnamed person from North Rhine-Westphalia, now has until the beginning of next week to contest the police decision.
Police said on Thursday that the man, who had spoken at the Cologne march, had been charged with hate speech after sharing material glorifying the Holocaust online.
Kluwe said that his men “would be prepared” for the possibility that hooligans would turn up in the city ready to brawl despite the ban.
Organizers had given notice of similar demonstrations to take place in Berlin on November 9th and 15th and in Hamburg on the 15th.
But police forbade the Berlin plans and the hooligans themselves called off the Hamburg march.

Ugly scenes after Weston-super-Mare v Doncaster Rovers' match called off
Tempers frayed among Doncaster Rovers fans after the FA Cup clash with Weston-super-Mare was called off just 21 minutes before the kick off.
Referee Tim Robinson declared the pitch unfit because heavy rain had turned part of pitch unplayable.
But many of the Rovers' fans were furious they had had a wasted journey after travelling hundreds of miles to watch the game.
At least one man had to be dragged off the pitch by police, some bottles thrown and Rovers' fans in one corner tried to invade the pitch but were restrained by police.
Rovers' manager Paul Dickov spoke to fans from the touchline but was shouted down.
The Rovers' fans were still hanging around in the ground 40 minutes after the game had been called off.
One eyewitness said: "It was potentially very ugly and could have turned into something much worse.
"The groundsman in particular were getting a terrific amount of stick and it's a wonder there were not any punch ups.
"You can understand the feelings of the Rovers' fans but if the match had gone ahead, there was the danger that a player could have broken their leg."
Following the postponement, Doncaster manager Paul Dickov said: "I'm disappointed. We prepared for the game and we were ready to play. We have to respect the referee's decision, but we felt if it was going to be called off, it could have been done earlier
"I remember playing in a lot worse than that. You just get on with it"
