Man arrested after crowd violence erupts at local derby in FA Sunday Cup
The violence happened after Ibstock-based Sporting Dynamo lost to Notts team Poets Young Boys FC
A man was arrested when crowd violence erupted following a local derby in the FA Sunday Cup.
The game saw Nottingham-based Poets Young Boys FC visit Ibstock, near Coalville, to play Sporting Dynamo in the second round of the Sunday League competition.
But the game, a six-goal thriller which saw Poets Young Boys come back from 2-0 down to win 4-2, was marred by crowd violence shortly after the game.
The fighting between fans resulted in several police cars and a riot van arriving outside the ground at around 2.45pm to break up the fight, with one supporter saying they were subjected to racial abuse.
Eyewitnesses reported a heavy police presence both near the Ibstock Welfare sports ground and in the village centre.
This resulted in a 27-year-old man being arrested on suspicion of causing racially/religiously aggravated fear/provocation of violence by words/writing, as well as violent disorder, and possession of an offensive weapon.
The man has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
The Leicestershire and Rutland County FA have confirmed they are aware of the incident and are investigating, but could not give any further information at this time.
A spokesperson said: "Leicestershire and Rutland County FA is aware of the incident. We will continue to investigate and cannot provide any comment while we undertake this process."
Representatives for Sporting Dynamo and Poets Young Boys were contacted for a comment, but did not want to provide one while the police and FA conduct their investigations.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "At around 2.45pm yesterday (Sunday 16 January) officers attended Leicester Road in Ibstock following a report of a large fight involving sets of supporters of two football teams.
"Police were able to separate the two sets of supporters and no injuries were reported. However, one supporter stated they had been subjected to racial abuse.
"A 27-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing racially/religiously aggravated fear/provocation of violence by words/writing, violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue."

Real Sociedad ultras attacked Atletico players' bus: one young man injured
A group of San Sebastián team fans threw rocks and other objects at the bus in which Atleti was heading to the Reale Arena.
This Wednesday Atletico travel to the Reale Arena for the Copa del Rey. The Colchoneros team has just lost to Athletic Club in the semi-finals of the Supercopa de España, but it was time to wipe the slate clean. This is how the rojiblancos arrived in San Sebastián to play the match against Real Sociedad, where they were not well received.
When the Atlético bus arrived at the Txuri-urdin stadium, a group of Real Sociedad supporters threw stones at the bus in which the players and technical staff of the Madrid team were. Stones and other goals, as later revealed.
The ultras also launched smoke bombs in the direction of the police.
One person will be injured and transferred to an ambulance.
Relations are still strained between the two clans following the murder of a Sociedad supporter in 1998.

Spain: Fuenlabrada send off their ultras - 19/01/2022
The Fuenlabrada club has decided to expel its ultras fringe, the Old School, from the Fernando Torres stadium for their unsportsmanlike behavior.
The official statement says: "The latest incidents and behaviors of the members of this Peña are the opposite of the athletic values that the club wants to promote (unity, respect, tolerance...) and limits have been exceeded that cannot be crossed. in the stands of a football stadium. On the 22nd day of the match against UD Ibiza, a confrontation broke out with other groups of supporters who did not want to support them in chants against the Club and the team. Later, during the Copa del Rey game against Cadiz, the National Police had to restrain the Old School group to prevent more serious incidents from occurring with other fan clubs at the exit or near the Fernando stadium Torres.

Verona ultras bus attacked, 5 Daspo for Cremonese ultras - 19/01/2022
Source: https://www.veronaoggi.it/
The Piacenza police headquarters issued 5 Daspo against as many Cremonese ultras. In fact, they would have been identified as the protagonists of the incidents which took place last Saturday, November 27 within the service area “Trebbia nord”, on the A21 motorway. On this occasion, in fact, some Cremonese ultras, who were heading to Alessandria for the away match of their team, which plays in the Serie B championship, in the sight of a bus of Hellas Verona supporters , on their way to Genoa for the Gialloblù game against Sampdoria, got off the bus carrying them and tried to attack the Veronese fans.
Only the promptness of the bus driver and the intervention of the police prevented contact between the two groups of supporters. At this point, the Cremonese ultras immediately moved away, but later investigations identified five of them. Following this, the Police Commissioner of Piacenza, Filippo Guglielmino, issued 5 Daspo provisions which will ban the five from attending any sports competition for a period of 12 months.

Tottenham fan arrested on suspicion of assault after ‘SPITTING at steward’ during win over Leicester
the game has now been overshadowed after it was confirmed a supporter was arrested at the King Power Stadium.
A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: “A 22-year-old man from Bedfordshire has been arrested on suspicion of assault.
“He will remain in police custody.
“It's alleged that he spat at a steward at the game.”
“One arrest of an away fan for assault on a steward. Good luck getting to sleep tonight. See you Sunday to do it all over again…”
A Leicester fan responded to the news on Twitter by claiming they witnessed visiting fans 'trampling' on a steward 'laying on the floor'.
The reply read: “Horrible scenes from away fans trampling some poor steward laying on the floor, shame on them, big fines for the club I hope.”

England : Football arrests 'highest in years' & disorder on the rise - 21/01/2022
Source : https://www.bbc.com/
Arrests at football matches across the top five English leagues are at their highest levels in years, with fan disorder "getting worse", according to the UK's football policing lead.
The latest data covers the first half of this season - which has seen the return of fans to capacity stadiums after a year of lockdowns and restrictions.
There have been more than 800 football-related arrests in the first six months of the season, alongside more than 750 reported incidents of disorder.
It follows Baroness Casey's recent report into the Euro 2020 final violence, which found "ticketless, drunken and drugged-up thugs" could have caused death as they stormed Wembley.
Chief constable Mark Roberts, the head of the UK's Football Policing Unit, said cases of anti-social behaviour among younger fans is a particular area of concern.
Roberts has previously voiced his concern on newly-introduced safe standing 'rail seats' as well as a pilot scheme to allow fans to drink within sight of the pitch.
He said increased levels of disorder is expected after a major tournament - but the current level of activity is "concerning".
More trouble, more arrests, fewer games - the key stats
Data collected from 1 July to 31 December 2021 from English domestic competitions only and compared to same six-month period for season 2019-20 - the last one without restrictions pre-pandemic
802 football related arrests so far this season - an increase in 47% from 547 arrests in 2019-20 - the highest number of arrests since UKFPU started collating in season 2015-16
Incidents of disorder reported at almost half (48%) of all games across Premier League, EFL and National League - compared to 34% in season 19-20
There were 759 reported incidents of disorder - including flares, missiles and hate crime - up 36% from 560 in 19-20 210 incidents were involving young supporters under the age of 25, up from 154 in 19-20. The five year average of incidents involving under 25 was 168
That's despite fewer games this season (1,581) due to postponements, than in 19-20 (1,670)
The biggest increase in reported incidents of disorder is in the Championship and National league. Up 58% in Championship and 56% in national league from 2019-20
Police presence at 66% of football matches across top five English divisions, compared to 46% of games in 19-20.
'Culture at games is biggest challenge' Last month's Baroness Casey report into the mass disorder at the Euro 2020 final described "drunken and drugged up thugs" being responsible for "a day of national shame" at Wembley on 11 July, as England lost to Italy.
Within that report, Lady Casey called out the "culture" around disorder at football matches as "the biggest challenge" in tackling behaviour, recommending a Football Association campaign to force "a sea-change in attitudes towards supporter behaviours".
One fan at that game, 'Tom', told BBC Radio 5 live: "In our row there was a group of 10 mates, none of them had tickets, all of them were snorting cocaine. It felt very very dangerous."
Testimony given to Baroness Casey's report suggested copious amounts of drugs, particularly cocaine, were being taken. The report said that 47% of 7,000 ticket holders who took part in the review saw illegal drug taking when arriving at Wembley, with steward and security staff reporting a high level of drug use.
Lady Casey also said: "I think drugs is a significantly greater issue than probably people have realised" and called for a "national conversation about greater civility and responsibility" that goes beyond football.
