Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira slams Millwall fans for chanting homophobic abuse at Conor Gallagher as crowds lob flares and bottles onto the pitch during FA Cup clashCrystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira slammed Millwall fans for chanting homophobic abuse at Conor Gallagher in a match marred by ugly scenes.
The crowd lobbed flares and bottles onto the pitched and booed the anti-racism gesture of players taking the knee ahead of the match.
However, Millwall fans shouted chants of 'Chelsea rent boy' at midfielder Gallagher, a loanee from Stamford Bridge.
Palace players also had to dodge bottles thrown from the stands, with one hitting former Reading ace Olise.
Eagles gaffer Vieira oversaw the comeback win against the Championship club Millwall, whose fans have historically been associated with violence and hooliganism.
Vieira said: 'We, as a football club, are against any kind of discrimination.
'This is not something that we want to see on the field.
'Taking the knee, that's something we're really proud to take.'
Although Millwall players wore shirts decrying discrimination in the warm-up to the south London derby, large swathes of the crowd voiced their racist tendencies by booing players taking the knee.
ITV had to apologise three times during the match for the homophobic and offensive chants sung by fans.
Millwall said any fan found guilty of discriminatory abuse would receive a lifetime ban.
The club said: 'Millwall Football Club has a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of discrimination and will investigate any incident of alleged abuse accordingly.
'As is club policy, any individual found guilty of discriminatory abuse is issued with an immediate lifetime ban.'
Meanwhile, Millwall boss Gary Rowett said: 'I don't think either of the clubs want to see any of those moments off the pitch but I am sure both will deal with those situations effectively.'
