Husband and strife as French fans trash wrong wedding - 06/01/2016

Source : www.templay.com.au

A group of French thugs donned masks and launched a commando-style raid on a wedding reception to take revenge on a renegade fan only to discover they had the wrong venue.

Militant fans of St Etienne destroyed food and the wedding cake when they smashed their way into the marriage party at a chateau in Denice in the east of the country last September, a court heard Wednesday.

Their anger was aimed at the groom who they believed had betrayed the club by becoming a fan of bitter local rivals Lyon.

But it was a case of mistaken identity.

They smashed up the party with iron bars in an operation described by prosecutors as having all the hallmarks of a "para-military" operation.

Ten men, aged between 26 and 48 and members of a group of hardline St Etienne supporters known as the Magic Fans, appeared in court Wednesday where they were all described as model citizens.

But given the chance to avenge a man they believed had betrayed their code of loyalty, they wanted to "destroy the most beautiful day of his life".

Nine of the 10 accused admitted their presence at the scene but admitted their "shame and regret", the court was told.

Everton FC - Manchester City - League Cup - 06/01/2016

Source : wwwhttp://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk

"Mass brawl" following Everton's victory over Man City in Capital One Cup semi-final

This is the moment before a ”mass brawl” broke out between rival fans after Everton’s victory over Man City in the Capital One Cup clash at Goodison Park.

The incident took place by the cemetery in Priory Road as the away fans were making their way back to the coaches.

An Everton fan who witnessed the scenes said: “There were thousands of people milling around and it began with the Man City fans goading and spitting at the Everton fans.

“They told them to stop it, but the Man City fans lashed out at them and there were punches and kicks being thrown.

“By the time police arrived at the scene, it had escalated into a mass brawl.

“There were kids there with mums and dads who witnessed it.”

Source : http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/

Fans trade blows and clash with police in Ancoats ahead of Manchester United FA Cup tie

Trouble ahead of Manchester United’s FA Cup tie resulted in a major police operation in Ancoats.

Police vans were seen flooding into the area shortly after 3pm ahead of the match against Sheffield United at Old Trafford at 5:30pm.

Videos filmed by local residents show groups of fans trading kicks and punches as officers intervene.

Dozens of officers were seen in the area around George Leigh Street soon afterwards.

The police helicopter was also called to assists officers on the ground and later footage show the fans being corralled by officers and marched out of the area flanked by vans and dog handlers.

Pictures show a group of officers surrounding one group.

More than 8,500 fans of the Yorkshire club have made the trip over the Pennines for the third round match.

A GMP spokesman confirmed there had been some football related disorder in the area.

However at this stage it is unclear which clubs the fans were affiliated to, or if any arrests were made.

Germany : Over 200 arrested, shops vandalized in Leipzig - 11/01/2016

Source : http://www.spiegel.de/

Season 15/16 - January 871794leipzighools

Dozens of “neo-nationalist” rioters were arrested by police in Leipzig after rampaging through shops in the Connewitz district, RT’s Harry Fear reported on Twitter.

Some of the most devastated businesses were apparently run by people of migrant descent. Fear posted a video showing a heavily vandalized Kebab shop, saying that the scene looked “like a drone has struck.”

A report by BILD said that some 250 hooligans taking part in the riots were right-wing football fans that had planned an attack on the HQ of local football club Roter Stern (Red Star). The club is known for its activism against right-wing extremism. While on the way, the mob broke windows in shops and restaurants, crushed mull containers, and stormed a bar frequented by Roter Stern fans.

More than 200 of the rioting hooligans were reportedly rounded up and arrested by police, while dozens were arrested elsewhere in Leipzig on Monday night.

Aston Villa - Leicester City - 16/01/2016

Source : http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/

20 arrested as trouble between Villa and Leicester City fans erupts in city centre

TWENTY men were arrested at trouble broke out between rival Aston Villa and Leicester City fans in Birmingham city centre.

Police said most of those held were teenagers.

It followed a violent clash between supporters in Price Street at around 4:15pm on Saturday, ahead of the teatime kick-off at Villa Park.

The trouble happened near to The Bull pub, which was closed at the time.

Officers came across a group who were fighting and throwing bricks and bottles at each other.

Despite trying to run away from police, 15 people aged between 16 and 21 were arrested on suspicion of either violent disorder or affray and taken into custody.

Eight were Villa supporters; seven had travelled from Leicester.

Another five youths – four aged 16 and one aged 17 – were also arrested on suspicion of affray after being caught hiding on the NCP car park on nearby Weaman Street.

None of the 20 was seriously injured and all have been released on police bail, with strict conditions, until dates in February and March.

Inspector Richard Vickers said: “Thankfully this was just a small pocket of disorder and the vast majority of people attending the match were there to enjoy the opportunity of supporting their team.

“Football-related disorder and violence of this nature will not be tolerated and we work closely with security staff and club officials to identify and monitor ‘risk supporters’.

“These few individuals who choose to display their ‘support’ through anti-social or criminal activity are dealt with strongly and we will always push for Football Banning Orders against such offenders.”

São Paulo FC - Rondonópolis - Youth Cup - 17/01/2016

Source : http://www.mirror.co.uk/

São Paulo fans attack police

An Under-20s game in Brazil descended into chaos when a large group of São Paulo fans swarmed and attacked local police.

São Paulo were away to Rondonópolis in the last 16 of the Copinha youth tournament when the clash occurred. Tickets for the game had been given away free, leading to overcrowding.

And after growing frustrated at the situation, a group of the travelling supporters cornered and attacked the local police, who fled under a barrage of missiles that included bins and metal railings.

The military police were then brought in to restore order using rubber bullets and tear gas.

Fifteen people were left needing medical attention while some children at the game were affected by the tear gas.

Lieutenant Carneiro of the military police's tactical unit defended what some considered to be a heavy handed response.

He said: "The stadium was at full capacity and a number of people were outside. At a certain moment, the doors were opened to let workers out and there was an attempt at an invasion.

"There was a conflict with the civil guard and military police were called. We tried to disperse people to end the aggression."

"We had to use the measures available to us."

Germany : DFB punishes Eintracht Frankfurt with partial stadium closure, €75,000 fine - 21/01/2016

Source : http://www.espnfc.com/

Eintracht Frankfurt have been punished by the German Football Association [DFB] with a partial stadium closure, with the Bundesliga club among eight clubs from the upper three tiers hit with fines amounting to a total of €195,750 for fan misbehaviour.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the DFB fined Bayer Leverkusen, Stuttgart, Holstein Kiel, Wolfsburg, Hamburg, VfR Aalen, Werder Bremen, and Frankfurt due to the actions of their supporters.

The fines range from €750 for third-tier club VfR Aalen to €75,000 for Frankfurt, who have been punished for two separate incidents during their DFB Pokal match at Erzgebirge Aue on Oct. 27 as well as at the Bundesliga derby against Darmstadt on Dec. 6, in which they suffered a 1-0 home defeat.

Frankfurt supporters lit flares on both occasions, and during the Bundesliga match also set fire to flags of Darmstadt supporters.

The fans also threw bangers onto the pitch -- which led to a two-and-half-minute discontinuation of the game -- and then tried to invade the pitch after the final whistle.

On Thursday, the DFB not only hit Frankfurt with a €75,000 fine, but also ordered the club to play their match against Stuttgart in early February with their standing terraces closed.

Frankfurt fans will also not be allowed to travel to Darmstadt on matchday 32, and the club have been ordered to compensate the hosts for the gate fees.

On top of that, Frankfurt were also handed a suspended sentence for another partial stadium closure "in case of a severe recurrence," the DFB said.

Eintracht Frankfurt have accepted the verdict.

England : Seven Leicester City fans banned from matches after violent clash with Villa fans - 21/01/2016

Source : http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/

Seven Leicester City fans have been banned from home and away matches after being arrested in violent clashes with Aston Villa fans.

They were detained after violent disorder broke out involving weapons, bottles and bricks before Saturday's top v bottom Premier League 1-1 draw at Villa Park.

Police have now made a fresh appeal for witnesses after a total of 20 young men and teenagers were arrested

The fighting erupted in Birmingham city centre at around 4.15pm before the Premier League clash

Seven of the people arrested came from Leicester and eight were Villa fans.

They have all been granted bail but police say they have been banned from attending any home and away matches.

The violence happened at the junction of Loveday Street and Price Street, near to The Bull pub, which was closed at the time.

Despite trying to run away 15 people, aged between 16 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of either violent disorder or affray, and taken into custody.

Another five youths – four aged 16 and one aged 17 – were also arrested on suspicion of affray after being caught hiding in the NCP car park in nearby Weaman Street.

Police have not said which club, if any, the five youths purported to support.

Officers now want to speak to a taxi driver who alerted officers to the fighting.

A police spokesman said: "Officers arrived at the location to find a large group fighting, using weapons and throwing bricks and bottles."

He added: "Officers are seeking the identity of the taxi driver and are appealing for him to come forward as he may have key information about what happened."

The suspects are expected to appear in court in February and March

In June last year, five men from Leicestershire were arrested on suspicion of involvement in an outbreak of violence between Leicester City supporters and fans of West Bromwich Albion in Birmingham city centre.

And in January last year, stunned shoppers watched as Leicester City and Aston Villa fans clashed near Leicester's Highcross shopping centre.

Bins and traffic cones were thrown in the melee, and 11 people were arrested.

Angry scenes break out after Pompey match

Eye-witnesses reported some angry confrontations between supporters following the Oxford clash at Fratton Park.

Police closed off Goldsmith Avenue at one point to get control of the situation and officers on horses cornered rowdy fans.

There were also clashes and outbursts at Fratton railway station, according to fans.

Read One eye-witness said a woman on a moped, riding along Goldsmith Avenue, was knocked off her bike as fans charged across the road.

She was not believed to be hurt.

The eye-witness said he saw fans throwing bottles.

‘It was not very pleasant,’ he said.

‘It’s a shame some fans still behave like that.’

Fans have also taken to Twitter to comment on the rowdiness after the match.

One fan said: ‘Just a few Pompey idiots kicking off at Fratton station supposedly. Got pretty bad apparently too.’

Another person wrote: ‘Been on the bus for about half-an-hour and we’ve moved about 200 feet because Pompey fans have decided to attack the Oxford lot.’

One fan wrote: ‘Crowd trouble around Fratton station. Neanderthals.’

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Police said there was no information yet on whether arrests were made.

Manchester City's final game at Upton Park was marred by violence as the two sets of fans clashed at the end of the 2-2 Premier League draw today.

Just after the final whistle, supporters in the Sir Trevor Brooking Stand, housing nearly 3,000 visiting fans, seemed to exchange insults with nearby Hammers fans.

The words turned into trouble and the two sets of fans briefly came together before stewards flooded into the area to separate the two factions - as seen in the video above.

The game is likely to be the last between the two at the famous old East End ground, as West Ham will move into the Olympic Stadium next season.

Upton Park used to be notorious at the height of football hooliganism in the Eighties, with visiting fans often running a gauntlet of trouble as they walked the few hundred yards from the nearby tube station to the ground.

The road they walked along, Green Street, became the title of a film about hooligans.
