The travelling Hammers fans were escorted to the stadium in an effort to avoid clashes, after similar scenes when the sides met earlier this season.
However, at the stadium’s main entrance an hour before kick-off, a large group of fans were seen fighting.
Rival fans were chanting at each other before the violence broke out.
One supporter was seen with blood running down his face.
While footage posted online appeared to show one man being knocked unconscious in the aggro.
Inside the ground a line of police in riot gear helped stewards keep order.

Lazio ultras vs Acerbi - 23/12/2021
Source: https://thelaziali.com/
Lazio ultras: "Acerbi, man without honour, leave Rome immediately"
Lazio’s ultras have released a statement telling defender Francisco Acerbi that he is no longer welcome in Rome.
As reported by Italian media outlet LazioNews24 earlier today, the Biancocelesti ultras have not forgiven the 33-year-old Italian defender after the ‘shhh’ celebration he did following his goal in the 3-1 win over Genoa last weekend.
The former Sassuolo man was upset following recent criticisms that he has failed to properly adapt to coach Maurizio Sarri’s tactical system. He did apologise after the game on social media for the celebration, but this has done little to calm the ultras’ anger.
Lazio Close Out 2021 With Comfortable 3-1 Win Over Venezia.
Below is the Lazio ultras statement in full:
Acerbi man without honour, leave Rome immediately. No forgiveness for those who betray! This is not just a slogan, but much more. It means that the fans are worth more than the players, that our flag is sacred!
Unfortunately, today’s players are too used to it and have never seen a proper protest. We protested against Chinaglia, Nesta and Mihajlovic (to name but three), monuments to our history. We went into the changing rooms at Tor di Quinto and Formello because some players, even players with a lot more honour than one from Chievo and Sassuolo, had disrespected us.
And we’re supposed to let pass the celebration and disrespect of a player who has shown that he despises an entire fanbase? Acerbi silenced the curva in the last match after months of support to the bitter end, Today he had the opportunity, as a man, to apologise under the guest sector occupied by 3000 Lazio fans.
Instead, at the end of the game, like a rabbit, while the other players came to cheer with us, he walked away. He backed out when a sincere apology would have sufficed. The fact that Acerbi is an important player in Lazio’s squad doesn’t matter to us. What matters to us is sweat, grit and respect. That’s why, as of today, Francesco Acerbi is no longer welcome here in Rome.
As long as he is here, he will be booed, In every game! “And who knows how many you’ve seen and how many you’ll see, sad players who never won”. ACERBI GO AWAY! ULTRAS LAZIO

St Johnstone - Celtic Glasgow - 26/12/2021
Source : https://www.heraldscotland.com/
Celtic SLO hits back at claims fans clashed with police outside McDiarmid Park
CELTIC's Supporter Liaison Officer has rejected claims that fans of the club clashed with police at McDiarmid Park yesterday.
Celtic played St Johnstone in the lunchtime kick-off on Boxing Day in what was the first game in Scotland to go ahead under the new 500-fan limit imposed by the Scottish Government.
The new restrictions have come into play due to the rise of Omicron Covid cases in the country.
As a result of the move, all games played yesterday and for the next three weeks will effectively be played behind closed doors.
Only a small number of St Johnstone fans were inside the ground for the game yesterday.
But another small band of Celtic fans appeared outside the stadium to cheer on Ange Postecoglou's men from a distance.
It had been claimed that the group had clashed with police and tried to 'storm the gates' of the stadium.
But John Paul Taylor, Celtic's SLO, has rubbished those claims.
He tweeted: "Just to clarify some inaccurate reports from yesterday. There was no clash with police, no storm of gates.
"A handful of fans went to cheer their team from an area which was away from the stadium.
"Police were agreeable to this and fans dispersed at FT without any issue."

Hull City chief defends decision to postpone Blackburn game two hours before kick-off
Over 3,000 Blackburn fans were either already at the stadium or were on their way to the ground when the announcement was made, following a number of positive Covid-19 tests within the Tigers' camp
Hull City's Championship clash with Blackburn Rovers was postponed just two hours prior to kick-off due to a Covid outbreak in the Tigers' camp.
The club were already carrying a significant number of positive coronavirus cases, and tests on Boxing Day morning revealed a further clutch of positives.
However, the timing of the cancellation announcement proved a controversial one.
Thousands of Blackburn fans had either already arrived at the MKM Stadium or were in situ on coaches or in cars.

French Cup : Lyon and Paris FC excluded from the competition - 27/12/2021
Source : https://fresno24.com/
The disciplinary commission of the FFF wasted no time: after the hearings by videoconference in the morning, the sanctions fell by press release in the afternoon. “The disciplinary commission of the French Football Federation retains the disciplinary responsibility of the two clubs in the incidents which occurred during this meeting”, she affirms beforehand while the presidents of the two clubs returned the ball since. on 17 December.
Paris FC and OL both lost “by penalty”, which means that Nice, which was to face the winner of this duel, has already qualified for the knockout stages of the Coupe de France. Paris FC also receives a suspension of five firm matches from its home ground, the Charléty stadium, and a fine of 10 . 000 euros.
The sanctions targeting OL are even heavier with “the closure of the visitors’ area outside until the end of the season 2021 – 2022 “, L1 matches included,” the exclusion from competition of the Coupe de France, accompanied by the suspension, from the date of the edition 2022 – 2023 ”, A fine of 52.000 euros and reimbursement of the related costs the repair of seats damaged by its supporters.
Three supporters arrested
The disciplinary committee undoubtedly held against OL that this was the second serious incident involving the Lyon club, after the one against Marseille in Ligue 1, the 21 November. The throwing of a full bottle of water on the Marseillais Dimitri Payet and the end of the match after a few minutes had earned OL the withdrawal of one point in the standings. The meeting will have to be replayed behind closed doors.
Friday 17 December, it’s half-time for the Cup match between PFC (L2) and OL, played at the stadium Charléty, that the overflows took place. Smoke had been launched around the Lyon supporters’ parking lot and fights broke out in the stands, leading to crowd movements and the deployment of the police. Two people, a supporter and a policeman, were injured.
If no arrest took place at the time, three ultra Parisian supporters were then arrested. Two of them will be tried for violence in meetings, we learned last Wednesday from the prosecution which opened an investigation the day after the events.
According to a source familiar with the matter, “the Paris SG ultras have been identified on the videos” of the incidents, while the Lyon ultras “wanted to do battle at Gare de Lyon” upon their arrival in the capital. According to the official report that AFP was able to consult, OL had 14 stewards, two referent supporters (SLO) and its director of security to supervise 500 supporters in the yard, i.e. one steward for 35 people (the ratio recommended by the FFF in the Coupe de France being a steward for 50 people).
“Radical measures”
After these incidents, Paris FC had called for “radical measures” against violence in stadiums and promised legal action, while OL had banned its groups of supporters from traveling to away matches. The club had also decided to exclude for 17 from its own stadium those identified at the Charléty stadium, by filing a complaint against them.
The stoppage of the Paris FC-Lyon match is the latest episode in a series of incidents in the French stands since the start of the season. It occurred the day after an interministerial meeting attended by professional football leaders. It had led to several measures such as the final stoppage of a match if a player or the referee is attacked and a period of 30 maximum minutes to decide where no continuing a meeting.
After Paris FC-OL, Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu asked the president of the FFF, Noël Le Graët, to act firmly. She was heard.

Legia Warsaw: Mahir Emreli broke the silence - 28/12/2021
Source : https://sparkchronicles.com/
Mahir Emreli commented on the rumors connecting him with leaving the ranks of Legia Warsaw during the winter transfer window in connection with the events that took place after the meeting with Wisła Płock (0: 1).
The representative of Azerbaijan became one of the three heavily injured players as a result of the attack carried out by hooligans on the “Military” coach after losing the match with “Oilers” just before entering the training center of the current Polish champion.
The center-forward immediately after this event began to make movements indicating that he would soon seek to terminate the contract due to the club’s fault or to force him to obtain approval to change employers in the middle of the tournament.
Recently, Aleksandar Vuković tried to ease the tense situation surrounding the best shooter of Legia Warszawa, who took the reins of the team from Łazienkowska after the aforementioned match.
The Serbian coach had an interview with Mahir Emreli and then expressed his deep hope that the 24-year-old would start preparations for the spring round as normal in the colors of the capital team.
In the meantime, there are all kinds of speculations in the media regarding a possible upcoming transfer involving an Azerbaijani representative, which is to be in the crosshairs of several teams.
The person himself decided to refer to these reports in Rekord.az and thus broke his silence from the event that took place on December 12.
– The transfer window has not opened yet. Perhaps an offer has come to the club, but I don’t know anything about it. At the moment I am a player of Legia – assured the striker.
– I am currently on vacation. After the New Year I will probably come back to Poland and together with the team I will fly to a training camp in Dubai. Now I do not bother with the future, I want to take the vacation – added the 24-year-old, who thus did not explicitly rule out the fact that he is not considering leaving the Warsaw team this winter.
Emreli scored eleven goals and recorded two assists in 33 matches played so far for “Military”.
