England : Hull City critics can 'die as they want' says owner as he seeks Tigers name change - 01/12/2013
Source : http://www.rtl.be
Dr Assem Allam has caused a stir around the KC Stadium with his scheme aimed at generating much needed money for the club
Hull City owner Dr Assem Allam has threatened to turn his back on Hull City if the fans oppose his name change plans.
The mega-rich Egyptian wants them to be called Hull Tigers in a bid raise some much needed money at the KC Stadium.
Allam has pumped tens of millions of pounds into the cash-strapped club to save them from going bust in recent years and insists the re-branding would make it easier to market the outfit around the world.
But his plans have met strong resistance from some fans who have set up a City Till We Die campaign group in opposition to his idea.
And Allam revealed he is ready to walk away if they continue to block his controversial scheme.
Allam told the Independent on Sunday: "I'm a simple man. Do they want me to stay? If it's 'No thank you', fine, in 24 hours the club is for sale, I do not put in one more pound and hopefully things happen quickly.
"I don't mind 'City till we die'. They can die as soon as they want, as long as they leave the club for the majority who just want to watch good football."
He added: "Where were these militant fans when Hull City AFC was dead in December 2010? I made it clear to everybody that I will run the club the only way I know, on sound business policies. That is what I have done, and it is what I will continue to do.
"If the majority of fans are saying now, no, it doesn't work, OK, tell me that and I am off. Not a minority who shout loud, they will not force me out, that would be a Scargill scenario. You remember [Arthur] Scargill? Where is the mining industry now? No."

England : More football fans fined after trouble at Bristol derby clash between City and Rovers - 01/12/2013
Source : http://www.bristolpost.co.uk
TROUBLEMAKERS involved in disorder during the Bristol City versus Bristol Rovers Johnstone’s Paint Trophy game have received fines totalling several hundred pounds.
Five men appeared at Bristol Magistrates Court before a district judge on Friday after trouble flared at the game.
A series of disorder incidents happened before, during and after the game on September 4.
It was the first official clash between the two Bristol clubs since 2007 but was marred by the anti-social behaviour and violence, sparking a major police operation.
Lee Edge, 28, of Arundel Close, Hartcliffe, admitted going on to the pitch and was fined £200 and ordered to pay costs of £105.
Connor Davidson, 18, of Glyn Vale, Knowle, pleaded guilty to going on to the pitch and throwing missiles. He was fined a total of £183 and ordered to pay £105 costs.
Ryan Greenslade, aged 20, of Cuffington Avenue, Brislington, admitted going on to the pitch and was fined £135 plus £20 costs.
He will also appear at Bristol Crown Court to face charges of violent assault and assaulting a police officer.
Ben Shallis, 26, of Pigott Avenue, Withywood, Bristol, admitted going on to the pitch and was fined £110 plus £105 costs.
Kyle Cripps, 18, of Carlow Road, Knowle, Bristol, admitted a public order offence and going on to the pitch.
He was fined £73 and ordered to pay costs of £145.
He was handed a 12-week curfew with an electronic tag, effective between the hours of 6pm-6am.
A further seven men have been charged to appear before court in the New Year in connection with offences committed during the game.
Anthony Higginson 55, of East Dundry Road, Whitchurch; James Phillips, 25, of Great Copsie Way, Stoke Gifford; Stephen Maggs, 54, of Dovercourt Road, Horfield; Craig Drew, 40, of Quantock Road, Windmill Hill; Ian Brace, 45, of Selley Walk, Bishopsworth and Chris Rogers, 32, of Avonmore Residential Park, Stoke Gifford are due to appear before Bristol Magistrates Court on January 21 charged with violent disorder.
Additionally, Ricky Marsh, 53, of Quarry Rock Gardens, Bath will appear at Bristol Magistrates Court on February 20. He is charged violent disorder and using abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence.

Real Madrid To Kick 'Ultras Sur' Out - 02/12/2013
Source : http://www.managingmadrid.com
A big change is coming for the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. For the first time in decades, Real Madrid supporters 'Ultras Sur' will not be allowed in the stadium, according to reports.
The ultras' time is over. For the first time since the extreme supporters were founded in 1980, Real Madrid will kick them out of the stands in order to have a supporting crew without political meanings, according to both 'COPE' and 'Cadena SER'.
It certainly looks like there's truth behind those reports, as their zone in the stands has been empty for the last three home games against Real Sociedad, Galatasaray and Valladolid. The few ultras who were at the match last Saturday sung for "affordable tickets for the fondo Sur".
It would be a good decision to get rid of the Ultras Sur if the club manages to create a good supporting crew with young people. Four members of the Ultras Sur were fined after displaying nazi flags and banners against Atlético Madrid.
Managing Madrid understands that the club should announce this decision via official statement in the upcoming weeks.

Lille OSC - Marseille - 03/12/2013
Source : http://www1.skysports.com
Marseille 'outraged' at attack on former Lille star Florian Thauvin
Marseille have expressed their "outrage" after midfielder Florian Thauvin was the target of an attack when the team landed in Lille on Monday night.
OM landed to a hostile reception, with footage on L'Equipe's website showing a scuffle breaking out as members of the club entered a crowded main hall of Lille's Lesquin Airport.
OM released a statement on Tuesday morning claiming Thauvin - who left Lille in acrimonious circumstances in the summer - had to be protected by club staff and plain-clothed policemen after he was targeted by 20 people they believed to be LOSC fans.
"Olympique Marseille deplores the reception on Monday night at the airport Lesquin," the statement read.
"Around 20 people thought to be supporters of LOSC insulted and tried to shake Florian Thauvin as he got off the aircraft.
"The young player of OM had to be protected by the stewards of the club and by the intervention of plain-clothed policemen present in the hall landing.
"Olympique Marseille wishes to express its outrage to such acts and hopes that tonight's game between Lille and OM takes place in the best spirit and respect for all players of the game."
Lille called for their fans to calm any aggression they may feel during Tuesday night's match.
In a statement of their own, the northern club said: "The Lille board calls for calm and asks their supporters not to show an excess of pointless aggression towards our opponents but rather show - more than ever - their support for their team."
Thauvin, 20, earned the ire of the club and its fans in the summer after he refused to train as he tried to force a move through to Marseille.
The France Under-21s international only moved to LOSC for 3.5million euros in January, but did not make an appearance after being sent back to Bastia on loan.
Lille chairman Michel Seydoux was publicly critical of Thauvin's attitude at the time but - after selling him to OM for 15mil euros - revealed he had moved on from the incident.
"The page has been turned," he told RMC.
"There was a lively and original story, but now it's over. Everyone's in his place. I think (Marseille manager) Elie Baup is happy, we're not unhappy. And we're content that Florian is working well at Marseille."

England : Fourteen Port Vale fans in court in connection with violence at Wolves match - 03/12/2013
Source : http://www.stokesentinel.co.uk
FOURTEEN Port Vale fans have appeared in court in connection with violent clashes between supporters and police at the club’s match against Wolves.
A total of 34 people were arrested following the game at Vale Park on August 31, while seven complaints have been made to the Independent Police Complaints Commission by fans who claim they were bitten by police dogs.
Fourteen men appeared at North Staffordshire Justice Centre yesterday after being charged with various offences.
Prosecutor Andrew Bodger said: “At the end of the match everyone piled out into Burslem. Thirty police officers found themselves between roughly 200 Vale fans on one side and 200 Wolves fans on the other side.
“The police are there with dogs which are being used to restrain and detain people. The crowd are baying, shouting and throwing missiles at officers.
“Absolute mayhem is taking place. It’s a terrifying scene.”
Darryl Millward, of Coseley Road, Smallthorne, is accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm to Wolves fan Andrew Simcock after the match.
It is alleged the 22-year-old threw half a brick at Mr Simcock, which struck his hand as he closed a metal gate, causing one of his knuckles to shatter.
Millward did not enter a plea and the case was sent to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, where he will next appear on March 10.
The rest of the defendants will be dealt with at magistrates’ court. Three have pleaded guilty – Anthony Clewlow, aged 35, of Church Street, Rookery, admits using threatening or abusive words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke violence (a Section 4 public order offence), and Liam Kelsall, aged 22, of Furlong Passage, Burslem, admits causing criminal damage to a door at Magnum Taxis.
Craig Hamilton, aged 23, of Fifth Avenue, Kidsgrove, pleaded guilty to using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress (a Section 5 public order offence), but denies damaging a police car.
Nine further defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them. Seven are accused of Section 4 public order offences. They are:
- Aiden Massey, aged 24, of Millrise Road, Milton;
- Philip Salt, aged 44, of Mill Hayes Road, Burslem;
- Philip Walker, aged 31, of Reynolds Road, Stanfields;
- Michael Ball, aged 46, of Kingswinford Place, Sneyd Green;
- Shane Ratcliffe, aged 42, of Westport Road, Burslem;
- Craig Sherwin, aged 31, of Wallis Way, Baddeley Green; and
- Steven Ptak, aged 41, of Churston Close, Westbury Park.
William Willatt, aged 30, of Free Trade Street, Hanley, and 19-year-old Daniel Williams, of High Street, Harriseahead, both deny committing a Section 5 public order offence.
The final defendant, 22-year-old Nathan Forrester, of Skipacre Avenue, Smallthorne, is accused of affray after allegedly throwing a stone. He is yet to enter a plea.
With the exception of Millward, all the cases have been adjourned to be dealt with at the same court on December 23. The majority of the defendants were granted unconditional bail, but Millward, Clewlow and Forrester are on conditional bail.
They are not allowed into Burslem town centre for six hours either side of kick-off when Vale are playing at home, and must stay away from any town or city where Vale are playing away for the same time period – except in London or Birmingham where they must not go within 10 miles of the away ground.
Six Wolves fans will appear in court tomorrow in connection with the same match.

POLICE are investigating Boro fans after fireworks were let off allegedly by Stevenage supporters during tonight’s Herts Senior Cup second round 4-0 win at Tring Athletic. Central defender Ben Chorley made his first appearance for Stevenage since the latter part of the 2012-13 season, but it was fireworks off the pitch which left police probing the behaviour of Boro fans, and could lead to the culprits being banned from The Lamex Stadium. France : St Etienne welcome fan arrests - 04/12/2013
Source : http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com
Saint-Etienne president Roland Romeyer welcomed news on Wednesday of the arrest of seven fans following violence at last month's 1-0 victory at Ligue 1 rivals Nice.
Six Saint-Etienne fans and one Nice supporter have been arrested over the violent scenes that marred the match on November 24 when eight people were injured at the Allianz Riviera stadium on the Cote d'Azur.
The bus carrying Saint Etienne fans to the stadium came under fire from projectiles but once they were in the ground some of them ripped up seats and hurled them at sections of the Nice support, a minority of whom replicated those actions.
The away side's fans had to be evacuated from the ground by police. "I was waiting for these arrests since those incidents. I'm delighted, it goes without saying that ASSE will file a civil claim against the people who are prosecuted in court because they have damaged the image of the club," said Romeyer.
"I didn't understand why these arrests weren't made during the chaos of those incidents in Nice's stadium but I am satisfied to see that, 10 days later, they have been made."
Romeyer has also called for the ministers of the Interior and Sports to hold an inquiry into violence at football stadiums.

Paris Saint-Germain team bus was STONED by hooligans ahead of clash with Lyon on Sunday evening
The Paris Saint-Germain team bus came under fire from hooligans armed with stones and bricks prior to their Ligue 1 clash on Sunday evening.
The reigning French champions confirmed that their vehicle was stoned and had one of its windows smashed as it travelled towards the stadium.
The bus of opponents Lyon is also believed to have been pelted as it made its way to the ground.
After French TV channel Canal+ showed images of PSG's damaged bus, a staff member told AFP: "The bus was stoned and the front right window was broken." He also added that the incident occurred near to Chaville, a town in the suburbs of the French capital.

Amsterdam's mayor blames Ajax hooligans for starting violent clashes with Celtic fans ahead of Champions League match - 04/12/2013
Source : http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk
MAYOR Eberhard van der Laan said Celtic fans had been provoked - but insisted some supporters then dished out "excessive violence" to plainclothes police officers.
AMSTERDAM'S mayor has blamed Ajax hooligans for starting the violence that erupted ahead of Celtic’s Champions League match.
A report by the city’s police force said the rioting in Dam Square was triggered when three Ajax supporters stole a flag from Hoops fans.
Mayor Eberhard van der Laan said the incident – and a “hit-and-run” raid on a bar packed with travelling supporters the night before – were the main spurs for the outbreak of violence on November 6.
Read the full letter here
In a letter to the city council, he wrote: “I interpret this hooligan behaviour as possibly the most important cause for the emergence of disorder between the Celtic supporters and the Amsterdam police at Dam Square.”
He said Celtic fans had been provoked – but some then dished out “excessive violence” to plainclothes Dutch police.
Van der Laan added: “I note that the agents were met with excessive violence and no fewer than seven were injured. For a short time, the agents no longer felt safe. They must and are expected to react proportionately in such a situation.”
Fans’ group the Celtic Trust condemned the mayor’s conclusions as “a cover-up of the brutal and criminal behaviour of the Dutch police” and said they would “work to clear their good names”.
Five fans are appealing against prison sentences handed down in Amsterdam for using violence against police.
They claim undercover officers who arrested them failed to identify themselves and have accused police of brutality. Celtic have sent 25 complaints by fans to a Dutch lawyer who is considering pressing charges against police.
Videos posted on social media showed one fan, Padraig Mullen, being dragged to the ground and kneed by a police officer in plain clothes, and others being hit with batons. Mullen, 28, and Damian Dobbin, 28, from Hamilton, were sentenced to two months in jail.
Thomas Kennedy, 30, and Andy Vance, 21, got six weeks and Joseph McPherson, 20, a one-month term. All have been released and returned home pending an appeal.

Prime Minister in Warsaw for Lazio fans - 04/12/2013
Source : http://www.football-italia.net
The Italian Prime Minister is flying to Warsaw, as 22 Lazio fans are still being held almost a week on from a Europa League game.
There were 149 Biancocelesti supporters arrested before last Thursday’s Europa League match between Lazio and Legia Warsaw, but 137 were released over the next few days after paying fines.
Another 22 Italian citizens have been in Warsaw cells for almost a week now and tomorrow Italy’s PM Enrico Letta will fly to Poland for talks on their situation.
Reports continue to emerge that the fans were led down a blind alley by police, who had been supposed to accompany them to the stadium, arrested, searched and handcuffed.
MP Carlo Fidanza has already visited the Lazio ultras in Warsaw and claimed 11 had been convicted of resisting arrest after signing a confession that was written in Polish.
A group of fans have raised the bail money so that the others can be released as soon as possible.

England : Fans, police and the old ‘dirty Leeds’ reputation - 04/12/2013
Source : http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk
Recent figures placed Leeds United among the worst football clubs in the country for fan arrests and banning orders. But do Whites supporters have an unfair reputation ?
In January of this year, a group of Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur fans clashed in Leeds city centre in what police described as “an appalling explosion of violence”.
The brawl, which followed an FA Cup game at Elland Road, had worrying echoes of the organised hooliganism that blighted football in the 1970s and 80s.
But the fact that it caused such consternation, even among the hardened officers given the task of investigating it, is perhaps an indication of how far the game has come in the last three decades.
Gary Cooper, chairman of the Leeds United Supporters Trust and a fan for more than 30 years, is one person who believes football violence is largely a thing of the past and says such incidents are the exception that prove the rule.
“Up to about 10 years ago I would hear of these things,” he says.
“I don’t know if it’s because I’m chairman of the trust, but I never hear of it or see it any more. Those people who would’ve been involved in that sort of thing previously, I know some of them, and there’s no way in heaven or hell they’re involved any more.
“Does it still go on? I’m sure it does, I’m sure there’s a younger element that want to get involved in that side of it, but it’s not a part of football any more.”
Nevertheless, according to bald statistics, Leeds fans still cause more trouble than almost all other clubs in the country.
Figures released by the Home Office in October showed 101 supporters were arrested at games last season – roughly 63 per cent more than the previous season.
Only Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Manchester United had higher figures.
The figures also showed that 72 supporters are currently serving banning orders – the fourth highest total in the country.
Mr Cooper is keen to point out that the arrest figures, which largely relate to low-level disorder and alcohol offences, equate to about two per game. He says very few of those arrests resulted in court prosecutions – in most cases those arrested were given police cautions.
Moreover, despite the club’s current status in the Championship – the second tier of the English game – it still has some of the highest attendance figures, both home and away, in the game.
“We accept that a 60 per cent increase in arrests doesn’t read well,” Mr Cooper said.
“We don’t want to see an increase, we want to see a decrease in arrests. But context needs to be applied – we have large numbers of arrests because we have large numbers of fans at games.
“What we have seen is that, of the people arrested, more and more are being given a caution and told to go away, not taken to court.”
The supporters’ trust believes the club’s fans face more draconian policing and stewarding – particularly at away games – than supporters of other sides.
It says the “dirty Leeds” reputation gained in the dark days of the 1970s and 80s wrongly continues to influence some forces’ approach.
The trust submitted an official complaint to British Transport Police after United fans were met at a London Tube station by officers armed with “sticks and dogs” following a game at Millwall in September. The complaint is still under investigation.
Mr Cooper said: “Control doesn’t come from dogs and sticks, it comes from fans understanding the parameters they’re allowed to operate within, what’s going to be tolerated and what isn’t.
“It’s almost a self-fulfilling prophecy. The reaction comes because of the way we are treated, not because of the way we are born to behave. We are one of the most heavily policed clubs in the country.
“That reputation doesn’t reflect fairly on our fanbase now.”
Trust secretary Paul Keat said he had direct experience of heavy-handed stewarding during a trip to Bolton Wanderers with his autistic son last season.
“My lad’s five and was absolutely loving the experience and I wanted to take some pictures, so I got my phone out” he said.
“A steward came up to me, grabbed me by the arm and said ‘You can’t do that’. He said it was ground regulations.
“I told him to show me where it said that and he didn’t have a leg to stand on. That was over-zealous stewarding and if I hadn’t known my rights he could have taken me away. That’s not right.” Another lifelong fan and trust member, Steve Clay, has seen the issue from both sides of the thin blue line, having policed football matches during 30 years as an officer.
He says there is a stigma attached to Leeds which is counterproductive.
“There are certain clubs, ourselves included, that come with an expectation among other forces that there are going to be issues when we visit,” he said.
“What police do is gear up for the worst. I’d like to see them gear up for the best, while preparing for problems.
“We often get policed with an iron fist when what’s needed is a velvet glove. Treat people decently and they will behave decently. I’ve said repeatedly that watching football isn’t a crime, but sometimes when you put on that replica shirt you get treated like a criminal.”
Mr Cooper said work was continuing with police forces and rival clubs to ensure that football had universal appeal.
“We’re trying our best to make the match day experience an enjoyable experience for everyone,” he said. “From the 75 year old grandad who’s been going his whole life to the two-year-old at their first game. We want it to be something that people buy into. Every club sells a dream of glory and success that somehow by association you somehow have a stake in. It’s a dream, it doesn’t have to be a nightmare.”
Chief Supt is happy for his family to go to games
Chief Superintendent Paul Money, the commander of Leeds police, regularly takes charge of football policing operations.
But, born in south Leeds not far from Elland Road, when off-duty he regularly sits in the stands as a fan.
“As a fan I have never had any issues. I’d be happy for any of my friends and family to go,” he said.
“It’s a safe environment, which it hasn’t always been.”
West Yorkshire Police adjusts the level of resources for games at Elland Road depending on the “risk” attached to the given fixture, based on the potential problems with rival clubs.
Mr Money said: “For high risk games it’s only right and proper that I give consideration to things like holding back the away support, to stop them coming into contact with home fans. “That’s not something I would do for a low or medium-risk fixture and not even for all high-risk games.
“There are various tactical options within the three risk categories, but they’re all well-rehearsed.”
The police chief says officers endeavour only to make arrests when there is obvious criminal behaviour.
But he adds that, while fan trouble has decreased, there remains a problem element.
“We haven’t had fixtures at Leeds where there has been significant disorder, although I can point to numerous fixtures where we have had disorder to deal with, often in advance of the game in the city centre not at the ground,” he said. “That’s testament to the policing operation at the ground.
“I don’t think it’s as significant as it was in the 70s and 80s, partly because of improved fan behaviour, partly better policing operations.
“But I would stop short of saying Leeds fans are policed on reputation only. Partly because I can’t speak for other forces, but partly because we have a significant number of fans on bans.”
He added: “I’m not interested in demonising Leeds United supporters and I don’t think their conduct generally would support that, but the more dialogue we have and the more opportunity we have to get both sides aired the better. Invariably when we do that it’s a very good relationship.”

Celtic could face SPFL investigation after fans damage seats and set off red flare as club visit Fir Park
FANS damaged seats and threw smoke bombs at Fir Park last night as Celtic faced Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.
SPFL delegate Alan Dick held lengthy discussions with police at the visitors’ end after the game.
A Motherwell spokesman said: “The matter will be dealt with privately between the clubs.”
But Celtic could now face an SPFL investigation on top of the UEFA probe into inappropriate banners displayed recently before their game with AC Milan.

Staff faced a clean-up operation after the fans, believed to be travelling by coach, began causing trouble around 10.30am on Saturday December 7.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire police said bottles had been hurled inside the services and the 17-year-old girl, a member of staff, was "feeling faint" but it was not clear whether she had been hit by a missile.
The spokesman said: "We got a call at 10.27am to say there was a group of Newcastle fans being rowdy at services.
"Some damage has been caused. There are reports of bottles being thrown.

Brazil football riot: Atletico Paranaense and Vasco da Gama fans clash in stands
The violent scenes in the Brasileiro fixture left several seriously injured and one fan reportedly dead, with a helicopter being forced to land on the pitch and air-lift the injured supporter to safety after the match was halted.
Vasco club director Antonio Peralta, said: ”We have one fan in a coma, and a supporter of the other side is dead. Or so I’ve heard.
‘This is not a circus, it is recreation, a sporting event that has to bring joy and not death. At Vasco we do not accept that.’
The game was being held at a neutral ground in Joinville due to previous incidents between the two clubs, but that still didn’t stop a brawl breaking out in the stands within 10 minutes of kick-off, which was eventually broken up by armed security firing rubber bullets.
Police were initially not allowed in the stadium due to state law in Santa Catarina which prevents the local force being used to provide security at a ‘private event’.
Officer Adilson Moreira told reporters: ’It’s a private event so the security was being provided by a security company hired by Atletico Paranaense.’
The disturbing scenes will raise further fears for fans’ safety ahead of next year’s World Cup in Brazil.
The game resumed after a stoppage of around an hour with Atletico PR leading 1-0.

At 1pm, so rare to be mentionned, more than 2.000 members from Torcida Hajduk Split and Bad Blue Boys Dinamo walked together to reach the stadium. Police tried to contain them without any violence. On BBB side, there is anger against manager of the team since a few months ago now.
