Some rioting after Morocco football celebrations in four Dutch cities; One cop injured

Riot police were needed to quell disturbances on the streets of the largest cities in the Netherlands on Thursday following Morocco’s 2-1 victory over Canada at the World Cup in Quatar. Six people were taken into custody in The Hague, and several others may have been arrested in Amsterdam. At least one police officer was injured.

Celebrations broke out on the streets in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht on Thursday evening after the match ended. Hundreds of people were out on the Schilderswijk in The Hague. In Amsterdam-West, Morocco's supporters celebrated their victory on and around Mercatorplein, especially by blowing their car and scooter horns.

Officer burned by a flare after police postponed Apollon-AEL match



AEL lashed out at police on Monday over the decision to postpone a derby with AChaos prevailed on Sunday evening just before the scheduled Limassol Apollon – AEL derby which had to be postponed for safety reasons.

So-called fans of both teams started throwing rocks and firecrackers on the pitch at Tsirion stadium.

One police officer was injured and taken to hospital before tear gas was used along with the employment of water-cannon Aiantas to break up the hooligans, Philenews reports.

Police also said that before the match was expected to start at 7pm they arrested a 20-year-old who was caught with three torches in his possession during checks at the entrance.

At the same time, AEL fans threw firecrackers on the pitch damaging stands and seats.

And that during the departure of the Apollon players after their warm-up, they threw concrete chucks from the damaged stand.

Later, fans of both teams attacked police outside the stadium with stones, molotov cocktails and flares.

Pana Gate 13 followed their volleyball team. In the same time, Gate 7 from Olympiakos travelled to watch their 2nd team in Egaleo.

Olympiakos view:

Gate 7 went to watch their B team in Egaleo but the main reason was because Gate 13 was in the same area.
Gate 7 travelled with bikes and after the game, they located Gate 13 in their club (20 minutes from Egaleo).
About 100-120 Gate 7 waited in the main street but Gate 13 arrived by tube which means a police presence so nothing was possible.
If they really wanted to fight they travelled by bikes and gathered in another club, 5 minutes drive from Egaleo.

Security services in Italy arrested 13 far-right “militants” for their alleged involvement in aggressively attacking Moroccan fans during celebrations of Morocco’s Atlas Lions win against Spain on Tuesday.

Wearing black clothes, the hooded “militants” assaulted Moroccan fans as they celebrated their national team, hitting the fans' cars with chains and sticks Italian news agency ANSA reported today. 

The attacks caused damage to four vehicles, while a woman who was hit by “flying shards of broken windows” sustained a minor injury, the report detailed.

ANSA said that the suspects have been charged with “damaging property and injuring people after their violent assaults on the fans’ cars” in Verona.

Officers investigating the incident have released CCTV images of men they want to speak to about the incident

A pitch invasion after Torquay United's late FA Cup equaliser last month has led to police wanting to find nine fans as part of their investigation. Will Goodwin's strike late into injury time at Plainmoor levelled United's First Round tie on November 6 against Derby County 2-2, forcing a replay which the League One site 5-0.

The scenes of jubilation on the terraces spilled over onto the pitch with a number of Torquay supporters leaping over the advertising hoardings and running around on the turf. This in itself is a criminal offence.

Devon and Cornwall Police said a number of the fans who ran onto the pitch went over to the stand where Derby fans were and started to goad them. As part of their investigation into the incident, officers have released nine CCTV images - which can be seen in the tweet below - of men they want to speak to about the pitch invasion.

Football fans clashed violently with police in Paris following Saturday's quarter final matches between Morocco and Portugal. 

Around 20,000 people took to the streets of Paris after the final whistle blew in France's 2-1 victory over England in Qatar.

Although the mood was originally celebratory, clashes between fans and police soon turned violent with officers spraying tear gas into the crowd and arresting at least 74 people, Le Parisien reports.

On Friday, French authorities announced that more than 1,200 officers would be mobilised in order to deal with any disorder in the aftermath of the matches.
