Thousands of Ajax and Feyenoord fans let off flares and chant at their teams' open TRAINING sessions ahead of their meeting in Amsterdam
When De Klassieker rolls around in the Eredivisie calendar, flares and raucous scenes are not uncommon.
However, this year, fans took it to a whole new level, filling the air with smoke by lighting flares as Feyenoord and Ajax trained at their respective grounds.
De Toekomst training complex in Amsterdam was like a scene from Armageddon as the Ajax fans let their players know what the fixture means to them.
There were similar scenes around 90 km away on the outskirts of Rotterdam in Sportcomplex Varkenoord.
Sunday's game at the Johan Cruyff Arena is completely sold out as table-topping Ajax welcome struggling Feyenoord who languish in 11th.
Neither side are strangers to flares and a party atmosphere, with Ajax lighting up the Johan Cruyff Arena after winning the league for the first time since 2014, last season.

She states that three people were expelled before the start of the battle, and that the police will follow up those who masked themselves.

After the game, the 7000 German supporters were blocked inside their stand for 3 hours ! Then, they were allowed to went out by 200 people, so troubles started with police forces. Three supporters were arrested but also one German steward. Several people were also wounded during police intervention.

The Bulgarian football team has been told it must play its next home match behind closed doors, as punishment for the racist behaviour from fans during the match against England earlier this month.
UEFA launched disciplinary proceedings following the Euro 2020 qualifier on October 14, which was twice halted in the first half due to home supporters taunting black English players with Nazi salutes and monkey chants.
Following the match England's Football Association condemned the "abhorrent racist chanting", and Bulgarian police arrested a number of suspects.
Bulgaria's football chief Borislav Mihaylov cited "recent tensions" and "an environment that is detrimental to Bulgarian football and the Bulgarian Football Union", as he stood down following the match.
Four charges were brought against the Bulgarian Football Union following Bulgaria's 6-0 thrashing at the hands of England: racist behaviour, throwing of objects, disruption of a national anthem, and showing replays on a big screen.
UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body ordered Bulgaria to play its next home game with an empty stadium and passed down a second behind closed doors match, which is suspended for a probationary period of two years.
It said a banner bearing the words "no to racism" must be displayed at Bulgaria's next two home games.
And Bulgaria was also fined €10,000 for disrupting the England national anthem, and €75,000 for the racist behaviour - a sum smaller than many top players' weekly wage.
England, meanwhile, were fined €5,000 for causing disturbance during a national anthem.

Tottenham have issued indefinite bans to 48 club members found to have sold on tickets for the Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade earlier this month.
A large number of Red Star fans got hold of tickets for Spurs' 5-0 win at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, despite a Uefa ban on away support for the Serbian club as a punishment for racism.
Around 200 Red Star fans congregated in the upper tier of the North Stand, prompting police and stewards to segregate them from home fans because there were too many to eject.
Spurs launched a full investigation into the situation and have now banned the 48 members who were found to have bought multiple tickets and illegally sold them on to Serbian supporters and touts.
Uefa's disciplinary committee is still deciding whether to take possible action against Tottenham, having received the report from the match delegate.
