Vandalism Arrests Follow Bulgaria's Eternal Football Derby.
Football fans have been arrested in the capital Sofia in the aftermath of the top Bulgarian football derby between the teams of CSKA and Levski.
The match, played out Saturday in downtown Sofia, finished with a 1:0 win of CSKA against its arch-rivals.
Two public transportation buses and a trolley were seriously damaged by football fans while a total of 16 individuals were arrested – two of them for illegal drugs possession and the rest for possession of large amounts of pyrotechnics, hidden in shoes and underwear.
Chief Commissar, Anton Zlatanov, Head of the Hooliganism, Extremism and Sports Events Unit at the Sofia Directorate of the Interior Ministry, reports that the detainees will be processed and released, and later summoned for follow-up proceedings.
Zlatanov says 90% of the police force was outside the stadium to prevent cases of vandalism.

Livorno police has identified about 20 Verona fans who chanted fascist slogans and gave the fascist salute during the Livorno-Verona game. The DIGOS and expert lip readers, which has been examining CCTV tapes since yesterday , has identified some of the individuals involved. The fans had directed the chants, slogans and salute against Livorno player Morosini. Their actions constitute crimes of contempt against the dead and are considered libelous.

England : Rovers ban brawl fans - 20/10/2012
Source : http://www.thestar.co.uk
FIVE Doncaster Rovers supporters have been slapped with bans after violent clashes at an away game.
The club have moved quickly to kick out the five who were involved in a brawl at last Saturday’s League One encounter at Hartlepool United.
In a statement issued yesterday, Rovers announced “lengthy” bans for a group of supporters who began fighting among themselves after a hotly-disputed penalty was awarded to the home side.
It said: “Doncaster Rovers Football Club has acted swiftly in imposing lengthy bans on a number of individuals who were involved in disorderly behaviour at the recent match at Hartlepool.
“In total, five individuals have been served lengthy bans, and Doncaster Rovers will not hesitate to take action against any individual involved in abusive or aggressive behaviour when attending matches involving the club.
“Club officials are determined to create a welcoming atmosphere which encourages supporters to attend matches in the knowledge that they can enjoy a match in safe and enjoyable surroundings.
“The club will not hesitate to take appropriate action against any individual who is found to display behaviour of a nature which brings discredit to the club and its many loyal supporters.”
Four fans were arrested at Hartlepool’s Victoria Park stadium after police and stewards moved in when tempers flared after referee Graham Scott awarded a penalty to the hosts 20 minutes from time.
Violence erupted and Rovers fans fought among themselves following the penalty, later described by Rovers boss Dean Saunders as ‘dodgy’ and which put United 1-0 up.
One supporter who witnessed the brawl, but refused to be named, said: “It was mayhem.
“These young lads were having a go at each other and next thing, the police and stewards were dragging people out.”
Reacting to the news on the club’s official Facebook page, the majority of supporters backed the ban.
Alan Chalky Chambers posted: “Ban them from every ground in the country. Disgusting thugs,” while Ian Ashman said: “Bringing shame on our club - too right they should be banned. You go to watch the beautiful game, not to be a hooligan.”
Ryan Dutton of Hexthorpe said: “I have only been to one game this season and have never seen any trouble but there’s no need for it. It sets a bad example for kids.”
Tom Collier of Dunscroft said: “A lot of kids these days seem more interested in having a scrap than watching the football. I didn’t know there had been trouble at Hartlepool but that kind of thing shouldn’t happen when you go to a match so the club do right in kicking them out.”
No Hartlepool fans were involved in the clashes during the game which finished 1-1. Cleveland Police said there were no reports of further violence before, during or after the game.
Two 17-year-olds, a 19-year-old and a 22-year-old were all arrested on suspicion of affray and taken into custody at Hartlepool Police Station.
They have since been bailed, pending further investigation.
A spokesman for Hartlepool United refused to comment on the incident.
The row comes hot on the heels of toilets being vandalised at Leyton Orient’s Brisbane Road stadium on September 29 when Rovers supporters daubed the initials ‘DRFC’ in human excrement on a cubicle wall.
Rovers were forced to apologise to the London club after photos of the sick act were posted on social media websites.

Hooligans clash at Buducnost vs Partizan
A hooligan clash delayed the start of the Adriatic league game between home team Buducnost (Montenegro) and Partizan Belgrade (Serbia). During the warm up fans of the two teams were provoking each other to the point that they stormed the court and charged at one and other.
The riot police managed to prevent a massive fight, but the game was delayed and the aborted fight took to the streets of Podgorica after the game. Several people were injured and 16 individuals had to be hospitalized.
Violent clashes are rare between Montenegrins and Serbs since there is practically no difference between the two, and roughly one third of all inhabitants of Montengro call themselves “Serbs” instead of “Montenegrins”. When Montengro declared independence from Serbia, via a referendum, in 2006 only 56 % of the population (600.000) voted in favor. Since then, ethnic tensions have increased in this small country.
Partizan head coach Dusan Vujosevic (born in Montenegro himself) was finally allowed to coach his team again after a three game suspension by the Adriatic league. It doesn’t seem that he has changed his habits because after only 6 minutes into the game he got his first technical foul. His young team won the game surprisingly easy with 81-62.

Police Praise Football Derby Fans
Police are praising the majority of North East football fans after a successful derby day operation.
The match saw a large policing presence across Sunderland and Newcastle as almost 50,000 supporters attended the Stadium of Light for the derby game.
Early on Sunday morning officers, working with British Transport Police, helped get more than 1500 people on to special Metro and Rail services at Central Station in Newcastle.
Supporters were in good nature and worked well with officers.
Supporter coaches, arranged by Newcastle United, transported around 1000 away fans to the game.
In Sunderland, officers were out from early Sunday morning, visiting bars and pubs and speaking to fans - again there was very few incidents of disorder and fans responded well to officers.
During the 90 minutes there were very few incidents that police needed to deal with inside the stadium.
After full time Sunderland fans left the stadium quickly and without incident and Newcastle fans remained in the North Stand for around 20 minutes as part of a pre-arranged holdback.
Supporter coaches got back to St James' Park safely and around 1500 people were escorted to St Peter's Metro station where they boarded trains and Metros back to Newcastle.
In total 15 people were arrested throughout the day - six of which were during a pre-planned operation carried out at around 5am on Sunday morning.
The majority of the other arrests were for public order type offences.
Chief Supt Steve Neill said: "The vast majority of fans were well behaved today and enjoyed the Wear Tyne derby for the great occasion that it is.
The policing operation went well and I'd like to commend the professionalism of all those involved.
This was very much a partnership operation and the degree of planning that went into this large scale operation ensured that genuine fans and families were able to enjoy the game in an atmosphere free of intimidation or violence.
15 arrests out of crowd of that size is very low.
I'm pleased that the vast majority of fans who attended today were clearly there to enjoy the football and were not interested in causing trouble.
I'd like to praise supporters from both clubs - they worked well with officers on the ground, were extremely patient and good natured and enjoyed the day in the best sprit.
The holdback went very smoothly and supporters worked really well with police and stewards."

Six arrested in a pre-planned operation carried out at around 5am on Sunday morning on suspicion of drugs offences. They are currently is police custody.

PSG warn Croatia of "harmful' fans travelling to Zagreb - 21/10/2012
Source : http://uk.reuters.com
Paris St Germain have warned Croatian authorities that a hundred "potentially harmful" fans are planning to travel to Zagreb for the Champions League game against Dinamo on Wednesday.
PSG said last month they would not take any fans to the Croatian capital nor sell any tickets for the group-stage match for security reasons. The game has been branded risky by European football's governing body UEFA.
"In spite of this decision, steady rumours make us fear that a hundred people, all considered potentially harmful, will go to Zagreb on their own for this game," the club said in a statement.
"PSG have warned the Croatian authorities about this threat. The club would like all the necessary measures taken to prevent incidents," it added, asking fans to accept the travel ban.
Paris St Germain have tried to address fan violence in recent years and several hundred people have been banned from its Parc des Princes stadium.

PSG fears hooligans will make Croatia trip
Paris St Germain has warned Croatian authorities that about 100 hooligans are rumored to be traveling to the country for Wednesday's Champions League match against Dinamo Zagreb.
The French club confirmed in a statement Sunday it has made authorities in Croatia aware of "persistent rumors that 100 individuals recognized as dangerous will travel independently to Zagreb for this match, which has been classified as high risk by UEFA."
PSG has decided not to put on official trips for fans or even sell any tickets for the Group A match because of security concerns.
A statement on the club's official website said: "Paris St Germain have alerted the Croatian authorities about the threat. The club wants everything to be done to avoid incidents during the game."
The club asked those fans tempted to travel not to do so.
Hooliganism was rife among a section of hardcore PSG supporters from 1985 to 2010. Dinamo Zagreb has a notorious hooligan element known as "BBB'' (Bad Blue Boys).
French giant Paris Saint-Germain, whose fans have a long history of hooliganism, has warned Croatian authorities that approximately a hundred or so supporters, some considered armed and dangerous, plan to travel to Zagreb for its UEFA Champions League match against Dinamo on Wednesday, despite the travel ban the club imposed on the match last month. PSG vowed not to sell tickets or provide transportation or accommodation for fans to the Group A fixture for security reasons, as the possibility of a clash between the two sets of supporters has caused French club—which has made a concerted effort to clean up hooliganism in the last few years—to go out of its way to urge fans to stay at home. In a statement made Sunday, PSG warned Croatian authorities of “persistent rumors that 100 individuals recognized as dangerous will travel independently to Zagreb for this match, which has been classified as high risk by UEFA.”

Bradford: City fan Kevin McDonnell's book Getting a Nasty Shock - the Bradford Ointment Story will benefit hospital unit - 23/10/2012
Source : http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk
A controversial book about Bradford football hooliganism is set to benefit the city’s burns research unit, set up after the Valley Parade fire disaster.
Bradford City fan Kevin McDonnell has written Getting A Nasty Shock – The Bradford Ointment Story, which charts the violent history of the Bradford City Ointment gang, from its heyday in the late 1970s and early 1980s to the present day.
The book, being launched in the city, features former hooligans and is described by the publishers as “not for the faint-hearted as you are taken through a journey of extreme violence and shocking acts of brutality.”
For every book sold, £1 will be donated to the plastic surgery and burns research unit, based at the University of Bradford.
Today the offer of charitable donations from sales of the book was cautiously welcomed.
Professor David Sharpe, the unit’s director, who treated many Valley Parade fire victims, said he was conscious that people would not want to receive money from groups currently associated with criminal behaviour.
“But there is no reason why people who are reformed characters, who wish to donate money to a good charitable cause, for a legitimate reason, should not have their money accepted. I don’t have a problem with that,” said Prof Sharpe.
“I know nothing about the organisation, I thought the name referred to some sort of medical treatment! The background may offend some people. It is like some sordid thing that football hooligans got up to.”
The Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit was set up following the Valley Parade disaster, on May 11, 1985, in which 56 people died. Many more suffered serious burns.
Bradford City joint chairman Mark Lawn said: “No-one can condone what happened years ago, but football has cleaned up its act. Some people may feel uncomfortable about this, but it is an independent book that has nothing to do with Bradford City Football Club.
“I support Prof Sharpe. If donations go to a good cause, that’s a good thing.”
Author Kevin McDonnell said: “Most of the people in the book were at Valley Parade on the day of the fire. Some of them are in their late 50s now and haven’t been involved in violence for decades. They asked me to make the donation to the unit. It’s a charity that touches everybody’s hearts.”

Omonia Nicosia Fan Throws Explosive on Pitch at Hurt Anorthosis Player
On the one hand, this is an excellent way to weed out the fakers from the genuine walking wounded.
On the other hand, this is also scary. As in, pack-up-your-bags–and–get-out-of-town-right-now scary.
In the video above, we see, among other things, a player from Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta FC receiving treatment on the pitch during a match with league rivals Omonia Nicosia.
There seems to be some debate over whether the player is genuinely hurt or faking the whole thing. As you can see, the Omonia Nicosia players are none too happy with the amount of time being used up by the whole incident.
Of course, that's not the noteworthy part of the video. The noteworthy part of the video is when an explosive blows up right in the middle of everything.
Yeah, an explosive. Boom. Right there on the pitch.
If this all sounds familiar, it should. About a month ago, we posted a video of an explosion on the pitch during an Iranian league match. You can see that video right here.
In that video, the explosion went off harmlessly in the corner of the field. In this one, though, the explosion clearly hurts the player, who suddenly recovers from his injuries and scampers away from the danger zone.
No one was seriously injured in the explosion (thankfully and, it would seem, miraculously), but play was stopped for about 10 minutes. If you care, Anorthosis won the match 2-0.
So was it adrenaline? Was he really hurt and the explosion merely triggered his fight-or-flight reflex?
Or did the madman in the crowd unmask a cheeky diver?
Either way, let's make this last part abundantly clear: Carrying an explosive into a football match is insane and shouldn't be tolerated.

Action urged after German football riots - 22/10/2012
Source : http://www.football.co.uk
The German Football League (DFL) was on Monday facing pressure from politicians and the police union to act in the wake of rioting between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 fans at the weekend. Clashes between rival fans and police in Dortmund before Schalke earned a 2-1 win at Borussia on Saturday in the German league left 11 people injured, including eight police officers, and led to 180 arrests. Dortmund police say the violence was the worst they have seen in recent years having had to use pepper spray and a water cannon to break up rioting during several separate incidents with 1200 officers deployed for the match. The DFL's security commission met in Frankfurt on Monday to discuss the issue ahead of Wednesday's Champions League group game between Real Madrid and the German champions in Dortmund. "The riots show clearly that the time for action is now," politician Lorenz Caffier, leader of the German conference of state interior ministers, told the magazine Sport Bild. "Despite extensive discussions with fan groups in the summer, it has manifestly failed to stem violence in football stadiums." Police say the violence had been organised by hooligans, known as "ultras" in Germany, from both clubs and a group of 600 Schalke fans was attacked by masked Dortmund supporters en route to the stadium which led to police intervention. A restaurant near the stadium was demolished by Dortmund fans who used the furnishings as weapons as police officers were pelted with pieces of pavement during clashes. "The forms of violence shown against opposing fans and also police officers should not be tolerated by the clubs and politicians," added Caffier. "There has been enough talking, now action must follow." On Monday, the clubs issued a joint statement. "Despite all the joy at our derby victory, I am saddened by these events," said Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies. Of the 180 arrests made, 163 were Schalke fans and 17 were Dortmund supporters. "We are currently in talks with the police and will resolve issues from the riots carefully," said Dortmund director Dr. Christian Hockenjos. "The police have charged individuals with assault, aggravated assault, resisting arrest and insulting officers." Those convicted face stadium bans. "Proven serious violations will be consistently punished with stadium bans," read the statement. "We are very concerned and apologise to the victims of the violent offenders, they will get all the help we can give." Meanwhile, the police union has called for an immediate end to dialogue with fan groups. "There is a small group of around 4,000 hooligans and ultras, this group doesn't speak to us, they don't want to talk to us at all," Arnold Plickert, deputy chief of the North Rhine-Westphalia police union, said in a radio interview. "This group doesn't respect laws or regulations, so the time for round table discussions is over." Plickert said there needs to be specially appointed football prosecutors. "We need football prosecutors who know the business on a daily basis, who know the processes, so that we have a uniform standard," he said, adding "identified offenders and violent criminals" should be banned from all stadiums nationwide.

Peterborough FC and Watford FC fans involved in incident at Yellow and Red Lion pub
Trouble broke out between Peterborough FC and Watford FC fans at the Yellow and Red Lion pub before the home match on Saturday.
Police were called after problems started at the pub’s gate in Vicarage Road and two people were reported injured.
Former Hornets player Neil Price, who helps run the pub and was present during the trouble, said it was started by a group of Posh fans.
He said: "I was standing outside when it happened. There were around 20 or 30 Peterborough fans coming up the road and chanting - they were mainly young lads.
"They were going to go into the away area but then they decided to go over and start shaking the gates (of the pub) and a few started spitting through the gates and being obnoxious.
"It’s very brave, doing it behind a locked gate."
During the altercation Mr Price said a male member of the pub's staff was struck by something that came through the gate and later had to go to A&E.
A female at the pub was said to have been struck in the nose by an object that also came through the gates.
Mr Price said: "It was very much these Peterborough Fans being aggressive, vile and vulgar, shouting at supporters and screaming.
"There were lots of families sitting in the garden and the Watford fans reacted to it, which you can’t blame them for.
"These Peterborough fans did not come in the coaches they were not part of the official party.
"It was a lot of bravado from some renegade Peterborough fans, who had had a few drinks and saw an opportunity. But you are talking about 20 or 30 fans out of around 3,000 so it is a very small minority."
Hertfordshire Constabulary were called to two incidents at the pub. The first, at 2.30pm, was following a report that something had been thrown through the gate and then later to a report that a glass had been thrown from the pub.
No arrests have been made in connection with the trouble.

The Serbs are back: 4000 are expected at San Siro Red alert for the ultras at Inter-Partizan
The most violent football fans in Europe are coming to the Meazza stadium on Thursday. There are warring factions, fear of attacks in the city by a group of non-aligned fans (around 300) and that alliance with the AC Milan fans. The Europa League match is threatening to become a nightmare
Police on high alert for Inter Vs. Partizan match
This is the first time Serbian fans have been in Italy for two years. Inter-Partizan is the first match after the Italy-Serbia match on 12 October 2010 when the stadium in Genoa and football were hijacked by Ivan Bogdanov, one of Red Star Belgrade's ultras, and a few hundred Serbian ultra-nationalists. Nobody wants to engage in media terrorism, but Thursday's match at San Siro (kick-off 7pm) threatens to be an explosive situation. As Pietro Ostuni, a high-ranking police officer at the Milan police headquarters, stated: "We know that this match is a potentially dangerous situation. We and our colleagues from the other law enforcement agencies are already on red alert. We will also receive support from Rome". Partizan Belgrade hooligans 'stopped'
There are reports that police blocked 300 Partizan Belgrade hooligans who were on their way to Milan for tomorrow’s Europa League match with Inter.
The so-called ‘zabranjeni’ are the most extreme and violent fringe supporters of the Partizan movement.
It is claimed the 300 hooligans were already on four buses for the journey to Milan when they were stopped in Belgrade by local police.
The reports suggest these fans did not have tickets for Thursday’s game at San Siro and were making the journey purely to cause trouble.

Police arrest 25 fans in red light district ahead of City's game with Ajax
Amsterdam police have made 25 arrests in the red light district of the city in the lead-up to Manchester City's Champions League match against Ajax. A spokesman for the city's police force said that arrests had been made for 'public violence' offences after fans from both sets of clubs clashed. It is not known how many City fans have been arrested, although the majority of those detained are believed to be local supporters.
Police were first forced called into action at 5pm local time when the trouble flared and arrests were made during the ensuing two hours before supporters began to make their way to the Amsterdam ArenA. 'There have been 25 arrests before the Champions League match for public violence, mostly in the red light district,' the spokeswoman said. 'Police first took action at 5pm. Most of the fans that have been arrested are from Ajax. 'The city centre was very busy but now as the match approached it is getting calmer and more quiet as the fans head to the stadium. 'We were aware that it would be busy before and after the match and we had deployed extra police to deal with this. 'We hope that it will remain calm after the match.'

Twenty-five football fans have been arrested in Amsterdam after clashes between Manchester City and Ajax supporters erupted before a Champions League match.

Police were unable to provide more detailed figures.

Argentine fans arrested in Paraguay over crowd violence
Paraguayan police arrested 35 fans of Argentine club Colon for acts of violence and vandalism during and after their team's Copa Sudamericana loss to Cerro Porteno.
Cerro Porteno beat Colon 2-1 at their General Pablo Rojas stadium in Asuncion on Tuesday in the second leg of their last-16 tie in the South American equivalent of the Europa League, winning 4-2 on aggregate. Television footage shows Colon fans, 35 of whom were held overnight in police custody, throwing metal objects at rival supporters and riot police, causing the match to be suspended for several minutes. Colon players tried to intervene, knowing they had relatives including children among their team's supporters in the visitors' stand. Two of them, goalkeeper Diego Pozo and defender Maximiliano Caire, remonstrated with police with Pozo kicking out at an officer and the referee showed both players the red card before resuming the match. Several spectators and two police officers needed treatment for minor wounds, local media reports said. Municipal authorities said the arrested fans would face charges of vandalism, including damage to cars, and thieving after complaints made by Cerro Porteno club and local residents. "The Argentine fans were completely out of control. We followed the situation from the start. They provoked the incidents, they were throwing things," Paraguayan prosecutor Cristian Bernal told reporters. "Logically, the Cerro Porteno fans reacted and as a result of this situation people have been hurt, the washrooms were destroyed," he said. "It's true that (the policing) wasn't very well organised, it must be said in order for things to improve. We need to see what we can do with these kinds of people, to be able to control them and bring them to justice." "The buses are not going to leave until the detained people are freed. We may end up staying here for one week because what the police in this country are doing to us is not fair," said a Colon fan referring to the coaches that brought the team's supporters from the Argentine city of Santa Fe. A spokesperson for the South American Football Confederation, the competition organisers whose headquarters are in Asuncion, told Reuters they would wait for the referee's report on the match before commenting.

The young fans hurled rocks and gasoline bombs at the police. Three people were hurt and four detained from the violence that happened during and after a match between Panathinaikos and Lazio at Athens' Olympic Stadium. Before the game, police had intervened to separate rival fans. The three injured fans were treated with first aid. Their injuries were not considered serious.
