Visiting supporters clash with Greek riot police
Borussia Dortmund's Europa League draw with PAOK Salonika was marred by an ugly clash involving the Bundesliga giants' fans and Greek riot police in Thessaloniki.
Supporters in the away end were forced to retreat to the top of the stand as police wielded batons and appeared to use force to detain a number of Dortmund fans.
Following the match, it was confirmed eight visiting German fans were arrested following clashes with police that briefly stopped play during the European clash at the Toumba Stadium.
No injuries were reported from the violence, which started when Dortmund supporters in the stands started throwing flares and fireworks at riot police who were keeping them apart from home fans.
The clashes forced play to be stopped for a few minutes in the second half. Dortmund had to battle back from going a goal down in the game against PAOK to maintain their unbeaten start under manager Thomas Tuchel.
Eight visiting German fans have been arrested.

France : Marseille to end fan control of season ticket sales - 07/10/2015
Source : http://www.espnfc.co.uk/
Marseille have reached an agreement to put an end to an unusual ticketing system that saw supporters' associations partially control the sale of season tickets.
The existing scheme, introduced by then-club president Bernard Tapie in 1990, had been credited with ensuring bigger crowds and a better atmosphere at the Stade Velodrome.
But concerns about a lack of control over who got their hands on tickets were heightened after trouble in the stands during Marseille's home game with Lyon last month saw play suspended for over 20 minutes.
As a provisional punishment, the club were forced to close the two stands behind each goal for the following home match against Angers.
Marseille also reintroduced protective netting to prevent a repeat of objects such as glass bottles being thrown on to the pitch and promised to discuss the ticketing system along with the supporters' associations concerned.
On Tuesday evening the club announced that they had come to an agreement to retake full control of ticket sales at the Stade Velodrome, which is one of 10 venues that will be used for next summer's European Championship in France.

Albania on high alert for Serbia grudge match - 07/10/2015
Source : http://www.eurosport.com
The man behind a drone stunt that triggered chaos at last year's Euro 2016 soccer qualifier between Serbia and Albania was arrested on Wednesday on the eve of the teams' second encounter, as hosts Albania mobilised 1,800 police officers to secure the politically-charged match.
Long at odds over the independence of Serbia's former Kosovo province, Albania and Serbia met on the soccer pitch in October last year amid hopes of a thaw in relations but the game was abandoned after a drone flew over the stadium carrying a flag depicting "Greater Albania" and triggered a brawl between players.
Just as Albanian fans were banned from the first game, supporters of Serbia are barred from attending the return match in the polluted central industrial city of Elbasan, with the exception of 70 Serbian students.
On Wednesday, Albanian police said they had arrested Ismail Morina, who said he had steered the drone over the Belgrade stadium last year.
Though never charged over the incident, Morina had been banned from Thursday's tie but he posted a picture of a ticket on his Facebook page. Police said he was arrested for carrying a pistol and found in possession of 36 match tickets.
Albania were awarded three points from the first game and want to beat Serbia to keep alive hopes of a first European championship appearance next year in France. Bottom of Group I, the Serbians are already out of the race but were taking no chances ahead of Thursday's game which has become a matter of national pride.
A spokesman for the Serbian side confirmed media reports that the team would take their own Serbian chef, to reduce the chances of sabotage.
"We are immensely motivated to show that we are better than our standings show," said Serbian defender Nenad Tomovic. "Due to our bitter rivalry, we also want to make it difficult for them to qualify for Euro 2016."
Albania are third in the group on 11 points, one behind Denmark and four behind leaders Portugal.
The Albanian team have appealed to fans to show respect for the national anthems and refrain from racist chants. Serbian supporters in the first game could be heard chanting "Kill the Shiptars", using a derogatory term for Albanians.
Their animosity has roots in Kosovo, a majority-Albanian former province of Serbia that declared independence in 2008, almost a decade after NATO went to war to end the massacre and expulsion of ethnic Albanians by Serbian security forces trying to crush a two-year guerrilla insurgency.
Many of the players in the Albanian national squad were born in Kosovo, raised in the West after their families fled, and chose to play for Albania.
The flag flown over the pitch during the first game depicted an area of the Balkans claimed by Albanian nationalists and encompassing Albania, Kosovo and parts of Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Greece.
Serbia's government initially accused the brother of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama of controlling the drone, an accusation derided by Tirana.
Albanian midfielder Taulant Xhaka, who tried to protect the banner in the first match after it was plucked from the sky by Serbian defender Stefan Mitrovic, said he wanted football to do the talking this time. "I don't want to clench my fist but score a goal," he said.

Beitar Jerusalem Football Fans Arrested for Attack on Hapoel Tel Aviv Fan
Two Beitar Jerusalem soccer fans were arrested Sunday on suspicion of being involved in an attack Saturday that left a Hapoel Tel Aviv fan seriously wounded.
The police are treating the case as attempted murder. The condition of the wounded fan, 32, remains serious.
The well-known fan was attacked in Tel Aviv's Florentin neighborhood after returning from a Hapoel Tel Aviv game in Kfar Sava. Police suspect that Beitar fans ambushed Hapoel fans after they alighted from a bus from the Ultras organization next to a storage facility in South Tel Aviv, in which they store equipment.
A massive skirmish apparently broke out, during which Beitar fans allegedly struck the Hapoel fan with a hammer. The fan, suffering from serious head wounds, was evacuated to Tel Aviv's Ichilov Hospital, where he underwent an operation. Another youth was lightly wounded.
Police officials initially thought that the method and seriousness of the incident suggested a criminal attack. However, an investigation led to the conclusion that the attack was related to the victims' identity as Hapoel Tel Aviv fans.
"Around 8:00 P.M., a report was received of a fracas between groups of fans in Tel Aviv's Florentin neighborhood, not far from Bloomfield Stadium," the police stated. "Police forces were called to the area and broke up the quarrel."

Stones strike Serbian team bus in Albania
A bus carrying Serbia's national soccer squad was hit by stones within hours of the team arriving in Albania on Wednesday for a Euro 2016 qualifier, a year after their previous encounter was abandoned in chaos.
Albania has stepped up security for the politically-charged match, after their first meeting in Group I in Belgrade was abandoned when a drone carrying a flag depicting 'Greater Albania' flew over the stadium and a brawl ensued between players.
The Balkan countries have long been at odds over Serbia's majority-Albanian former Kosovo province, which declared independence in 2008 almost a decade after NATO went to war to halt the massacre and expulsion of civilians during a Serbian counter-insurgency war.
Serbia's foreign ministry said it had prepared a protest note over the incident, in which stones struck the bus as it drove into the Albanian capital, Tirana, cracking a window. Video broadcast on Serbian media showed streets lined with people, and at least two stones striking the bus.
"Lower your heads, heads down," a voice was heard saying inside the bus. No one was hurt, but Serbia said the incident raised doubts over security for the game on Thursday evening in the central Albanian town of Elbasan.
Tomislav Karadzic, the president of Serbia's soccer federation, commended the Albanian police for securing the route from the airport to the hotel.
But, he said, "several rocks were hurled from the crowd towards the bus. A sizeable one landed in the vicinity of the second or third row of seats, where our players were sitting.
"If this level of security remains unchanged, there will be problems. But they (Albanian police) have guaranteed that this will not happen again. We are waiting to see what happens next."
Serbia's foreign ministry said it had summoned Albania's ambassador, Ilir Bocka, but that he had refused to receive Serbia's protest note. There was no immediate word from the Albanian embassy.
Albania has fielded 1,800 policemen to ensure security at the match. The man behind last year's drone incident was arrested on Wednesday in Albania in possession of a pistol and 36 match tickets despite himself being banned from the game.
Like their Albanian counterparts in the first game, Serbian fans are barred from attending Thursday's tie, with the exception of 70 students.
"We know that there is tension, that all eyes are on this game, that some want to turn it into something that is not football," Serbian caption and Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic told reporters. "We know we face a cauldron; we don't expect the applause of the Albanian fans."

Police in Albania have arrested a man who claimed to have flown a drone carrying a nationalist banner over a stadium in Serbia last year during a European Championship qualifier, in an incident that prompted fan violence and a diplomatic spat between the two countries.
Authorities said 33-year-old Ismail Morinaj was arrested with three other men as part of a major security operation on the eve of the return match in Elbasan, Albania.
Morinaj, who is from the northeastern Kukes area but lives in Italy, is a regular at the Albanian national team's away matches.
Two handguns, ammunition, and 36 match tickets were seized, police said. Morinaj was found with a Serbian-made Zastava pistol and a Chinese handgun.
Meanwhile, Serbian federation spokesman Aleksandar Boskovic told a news conference there had been a ''small incident, (at) midday, from the airport, when some stones were thrown against the bus, which was not damaged.'' He added that Serbian officials had informed UEFA of the incident.
Tirana police said they noticed a mark on the bus after it arrived at the team hotel that was ''believed to have been caused from a stone thrown from a distance.''
Police said they were working to find those responsible.
