Football Hooliganism Turns Deadly in Chile - 01/10/2012

Source : http://www.laht.com

One man was killed and another badly wounded in a shooting attributed by Chilean police to a feud between rival factions of hardcore fans of the Colo Colo football club.

The incident occurred in the Santiago district of Macul, home of Colo Colo’s Monumental stadium, and the dead man was identified by police as Claudio Andres Lincaqueo, who was the coordinator of the collective fan group.

The automobile in which Lincaqueo and two other members of the group were riding was cut off by another vehicle, whose occupants opened fire on the trio.

Lincaqueo was hit by three bullets and one of his companions, Pablo Rigo, was admitted to a hospital in serious condition with unspecified injuries.

The third occupant of the vehicle, whose identity has not been released, was unhurt, according to his friends.

Police said that the initial investigation points to the fact that the attack was revenge by one faction of the hardcore fan group, whose chief, Javier Figueroa, was knifed to death a few months ago outside a stadium in Rancagua.

A new law that takes effect this week drastically increases the penalties for acts of vandalism by football fans and placed complete responsibility for the organization of matches, including security, on Chile’s clubs.

One of the main aims of the law is to eradicate football hooligans such as the Colo Colo group and another one linked to the Universidad de Chile.

Millwall FC - Bolton Wanderers - 06/10/2012

Source : http://www.itv.com

Bolton's Marvin Sordell 'abused by Millwall fans'

Bolton striker Marvin Sordell has claimed he and several of his team-mates were racially abused by Millwall fans during his side's 2-1 defeat this afternoon at the Den.

The 21-year-old said on Twitter that he had reported the incident and revealed that midfielders Lee Chung-yong and Darren Pratley, plus fellow forward Benik Afobe, had also been subjected to racist taunts by some home supporters.

Millwall later released a statement, saying: "Millwall and Bolton Wanderers are investigating allegations made by Bolton player Marvin Sordell that he was subjected to racial abuse by an individual whilst warming up as a substitute during Saturday's Championship clash at The Den.

"The two clubs remain determined to do everything in their power to ensure that racist behaviour will not be tolerated.

"We will be speaking to the police and the match officials on this matter but no further comment will be made until this process has been completed and the investigations have been concluded."

The Football Association tonight confirmed they would be investigating Sordell's claims.

Shortly after the FA's confirmation that they would investigate the incident, Bolton released a statement of their own.

It read: "Marvin Sordell has made Bolton Wanderers aware that he was subject to alleged racial abuse during the game against Millwall."We are now working with Millwall to investigate and the club have informed us that they will speak to the police and match officials.

"Both clubs remain determined that racist behaviour or language will not be tolerated."

Peterborough United - Nottingham Forest - 06/10/2012

Source : http://www.stamfordmercury.co.uk

Four Peterborough United fans arrested after causing trouble on a train

A group of Peterborough United fans were thrown off a train by police for causing trouble.

Four men travelling on the 7.01pm Doncaster to Peterborough East Coast service, were taken off the train and arrested and police are appealing for witnesses with information to come forward.

Police arrested two men for public order offences and while carrying out the arrests at Peterborough railway station, two further members of the group became aggressive and confrontational with officers, with one making racially-aggravated comments.

Both were then arrested for public order offences as well.

The four men, aged 27, 28, 29 and 38-years-old and all from Peterborough, were taken into police custody and have been released on bail. They are due to return on October 31.

PC Sean White, the investigating officer, said: “Anti-social behaviour will simply not be tolerated by British Transport Police and where football supporters step out of line, banning orders are applied for.

“Passengers and rail staff should be able to travel without encountering such unsavoury and unwelcome behaviour.

“The majority of football supporters who travel on the rail network cause no problems whatsoever but, sadly, there remains a minority who think they have the right to behave unacceptably.

“The station was busy when the train arrived and I am appealing for anyone who was on either the train or who witnessed the incident to come forward and assist police in this investigation.”

England : Football hooligans fined after crowd trouble - 05/10/2012

Source : http://www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk

TWO football hooligans captured on a police DVD have been fined after they were involved in crowd trouble at an Alfreton Town FC match which left decent supporters, ball boys and stewards feeling threatened and distressed.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard, on Thursday, October 4, how trouble flared and fans kicked and pushed temporary fencing separating rival supporters on the Alma Street enclosure at a home match between Alfreton and Grimsby Town, at the Impact Arena, in Alfreton, on January 7.

Ball boys had to be moved to safety from a section of terracing before police were able to re-establish a divide between both sets of fans which one police officer described as “a baying mob”.

District Judge Andrew Davison said: “Kit manager at Alfreton Town Pamela Adams described Grimsby fans rushing towards Alfreton fans and vice versa. She was responsible for the ball boys in the middle and she had real concerns for the welfare of those boys.

“She described the atmosphere in the first half as volatile and was not used to this in eight years’ experience at Alfreton. She felt intimidated and this was not normal banter.”

Christopher Thompson, 34, of Lambert Road, Grimsby, and Andrew Stokes, 33, of Maxwell Court, Grimsby, were both found guilty of using threatening or disorderly behaviour following a trial.

Stokes was judged to have been gesticulating to fans, shouting and swearing and was standing close to Alfreton fans at the dividing fence.

District Judge Davison said: “I’m satisfied there were others, decent supporters and ball boys who suffered harassment, alarm or distress by this conduct which was disorderly or threatening.”

Stokes, who is of previous good character, claimed he had been subjected to abuse and his behaviour had been nothing more than standard banter at a football match.

He was sentenced to a £300 fine, a £15 surcharge and ordered to pay £700 in costs and was spared from a football banning order because of previous good character.

The court heard how Thompson was close to the fence, shouting, swearing and making gestures to Alfreton fans even though he denied committing using threatening or disorderly behaviour.

He was sentenced to a £500 fine, a £15 surcharge and ordered to pay £700 in legal costs and given a five-year football banning order after the court heard he had three previous bans.

Following the trial, Carl Harriman, 46, of Arthur Street, Alfreton, Stephen McConnell, 44, of Stretton Road, Morton, and Connor Hawkins, 20, of Chestnut Avenue, Grimsby, were found not guilty of using threatening or disorderly behaviour.

Previously, three other Alfreton fans pleaded guilty to threatening and disorderly behaviour and were given football bans, a Grimsby fan also pleaded guilty and was given a ban and another Grimsby fan was acquitted after the Blue Square Premier League clash which Grimsby won 5-2.

Chester City - Halifax Town - Cup - 06/10/2012

Source : http://www.halifaxcourier.co.uk + https://www.youtube.com

Arrested man released without charge

A 51-year-old Halifax man arrested during Saturday’s match has been released.

Chester police this afternoon said he was arrested for pitch invasion while two other Halifax fans were evicted from the ground.

Further investigations revealed the men had wrongly entered an area reserved for Chester fans.

“The safety of the fans and players are of paramount importance at every game,” said Supt Nick Bailey.

“On this occasion, stewards and police acted in the interests of public safety in arresting a man initially suspected of invading the pitch and committing public order offences.

“When the full facts came to light the man was released without charge.”

There had been earlier trouble at the match when another set of fans jumped over hoardings in the away end to attack home fans.

The crowd disturbances marred the game and FC Halifax Town director Bobby Ham says the club will not tolerate trouble makers on the eve on the FA Cup replay with Chester.

Town scored late to secure a well earned replay against their Conference North rivals - but the game was spoiled by a small section of fans.

Ham was in the stands for the game had been arrested.

and said that the club would be taking action against those who create problems.

“We don’t want this kind of behaviour,” said Ham. “We’re doing our best to build a family football club and the last thing we want is silly idiots spoiling it.”

Ham confirmed that the club would be speaking to Cheshire police about fans’ bad behaviour.

“We don’t condone it and we will not tolerate it,” he said.

“We banned two or three following an incident at Lancaster City last year and those who are caught will be dealt with in the correct way.”

He also confirmed that Town are expecting between 200 and 300 Chester fans to make the trip to the Shay tomorrow, and that they will be housed in the Skircoat Stand.

“There will be more stewards working but we don’t anticipate any problems,” he added.

South Africa: Another soccer fan arrested - 07/10/2012

Source : http://www.sport24.co.za

A second man was arrested for allegedly vandalising the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto last week, police said on Sunday.

Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said police expected more arrests soon, as they were using CCTV footage to identify those involved.

Last Sunday, soccer supporters broke a fence and vandalised the stadium when Moroka Swallows beat Mamelodi Sundowns.

Sundowns supporters tore down the stadium’s security fence and stormed the pitch.

The first arrest was made on Saturday.

The two men would appear together at Protea Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, where they would face charges of trespassing and malicious damage to property.
