| Belgium: FSV Dender - KRC Genk - 18/10/2008Source : Sportwereld.be When Genk scored, a publicity in front of Genk supporters broke off and several fans lied on the pitch. Nine people were injured. ****************** Source: mail (thanks to the sender) After the game a group of local fans(20-25) came to the parking lot. If it wasn't for one of us we didn't even notice them, when they came to the fences alongside the coaches. Immediately 3 of us went charging towards the fences, followed by the rest. (aprox. 11 in total) When the group of Dender saw the first 3 heading towards them, they started running for their lives.Very Happy Even though we were locked in by these fences. we still did try to reach them, but they were to fast. I've never seen anyone run so fast, there's certainly some talent in Belgium for the next Olympics. All in all it was a good away game for us en a lot of laughter.

POLICE are scouring CCTV footage to try to track down football hooligans involved in brawls before and after Hull City's 1-0 win over West Ham at the KC Stadium. Up to 100 rival yobs clashed in Walton Street, near the ground, on Sunday. After the match, a 40-strong West Ham mob stormed Parkers pub in Anlaby Road, to challenge a group from Hull. Full details of the flare-ups emerged after it was reported on the Mail's website yesterday how two men were arrested for public disorder offences. A third man was arrested for breaching a court order banning him from attending football stadiums. All three were from Hull. PC Karl Corcoran, of Humberside Police's football intelligence unit, said: "I am disappointed. "This season, supporters have been fantastic. Unfortunately, a mindless few are attempting to spoil it." It is thought the hooligans organised the fights in advance of the match because they steered clear of pubs on the police "radar". "Our resources were tied up in pubs where we believe there is the potential for trouble on match days," said PC Corcoran. "Some of our officers carried hand-held cameras. There is footage of the incident at Parkers. "There is also CCTV footage and the force helicopter has some good-quality footage. "We will be going through the evidence and anyone involved can expect a knock on their door." "How did the larger group of West Ham hooligans know that these Hull City hooligans were in Parkers? We think it was organised. "All is takes is one phone call. They may even have known each other from attending England matches or possibly through a friend." PC Corcoran said officers narrowly avoided injury during the fighting inside the pub. He said: "Eight officers in uniform, including myself, had glasses and glass bottles thrown at us. A bottle landed a few feet from me. Had it struck, it would have caused some damage. "We are only talking about 100 fans in a crowd of more than 24,800. We are dealing with a very small minority." Anyone with information about who was involved in the trouble is urged to call Humberside Police on

Four Fans Arrested In Turin Derby
Juventus edged out Torino in the Derby della Mole last night, but fan trouble marred the encounter as four supporters were apprehended before and during the game.
The Bianconeri deservedly claimed the Turin bragging rights, as Brazilian hitman Amauri's solo effort was enough to separate the sides at the Stadio Olimpico and further increase the pressure on Granata's boss Gianni De Biasi.
But it has been revealed that rival sets of fans clashed prior to the game and the police were called in to help an Old Lady supporter who had been ambushed by a group of Torinisti.
According to Italian news agency Ansa, a Juve fan was arrested because he was found carrying a knife, whereas two Granata supporters were charged with using or threatening to use force against police officers and also resisting the arrest.
Another Toro fan was apprehended in the Curva Nord during the match, after he had torn off a seat and was preparing to hurl it toward the adjacent Bianconeri stand. The episode occured in the second half, soon after Amauri had given Juve the lead.
Moreover, a Juve fan fell down from the second tier of the Olimpico after the final whistle. He allegedly went overboard celebrating the triumph and accidentally tumbled down from the Curva Scirea. He was immediately driven to hospital and his condition is reportedly not serious.

There were 29 arrests and no serious injuries. Police officers on horseback were attacked with fireworks outside the stadium and one horse sustained minor burns. The violence came during and after the 2-1 victory in northern England, Sunderland's first at home over Newcastle in 28 years. Spectators pelted Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton as he prepared to return in the game's last six minutes after serving a six-game ban. Police had to protect him while he warmed up on the sideline. Barton angered fans in his response by kissing Newcastle's club badge. Sunderland manager Roy Keane said his team's fans at the Stadium of Light deserved a chance to celebrate. "If you think I am going to sit here and criticize Sunderland supporters, then you are wrong," he said. Sunderland could face punishment from the governing Football Association. "Hopefully the FA will go easy on us," Keane said. "Supporters have to enjoy it, it's been a long while since they've had something to really celebrate and they have to enjoy these things. If they've overstepped the mark we will do something about it." ********************************************************** Source: BBC Horse suffers burns as fans clashA police horse suffered burns after being struck by a firework during violent clashes between rival football fans, which saw 29 arrests by police. Some fans ran on to the playing surface during the game with Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given being subject to verbal abuse. Meanwhile, missiles were thrown from the crowd at Joey Barton as he warmed-up on the touchline. Police asked him to continue his exercises in the technical area to prevent further trouble. At the end of the game a large group of fans raced from the stands and more fighting broke out. Ch Supt Mackay said: "There will be a post-match inquiry to identify and arrest those who committed offences and I would particularly appeal for the public to identify the people responsible for throwing fireworks. "It is difficult to comprehend the mentality of this. It is only through good fortune that the rider and horse and those nearby did not suffer serious injury." The female rider of the horse was saved from injury by her helmet, a police spokesperson added. The match ended in a 2-1 victory for Sunderland, their first victory over Newcastle at the Stadium of Light.

| Nottingham Forest - Cardiff City - 25/10/2008

Cardiff manager Dave Jones blasts Nottingham Forest fans who abused him
The case against Jones was thrown out of court but some home fans still subjected him to vile abuse as their team, bottom of the Championship, lost 1-0 to a Ross McCormack penalty which lifted Cardiff up to fourth.
Jones said: "Their team is struggling and they're chanting about me. All it did was make our supporters make more noise roaring us on. The only people they hurt were my family. I'm used to it."

JONES HITS OUT AT 'STUPID' FOREST FANS
Dave Jones hit back at his City Ground tormentors after his Cardiff side added to Nottingham Forest's relegation worries.
A Ross McCormack penalty sent Forest tumbling to their fifth defeat in six games - and silenced the section of fans who taunted Jones over his arrest on child abuse charges almost 10 years ago.
The case against him was thrown out of court but that failed to stop a group of Forest fans subjecting him to vile abuse.
Jones said: "They are stupid because they absolutely killed the game for their own team - they think they are hurting me with their chanting but they distracted from what they are actually at the game for.
"Their team is struggling like mad and they're chanting about me.
"All it did was make our supporters - 2,500 of them - make more noise roaring us on.
"The only people they hurt were my family. It doesn't hurt me, I'm used to it.
"If they want to do it then fine, let them do it, but when my book comes out, go and buy it then they might realise what my family and what I went through.
"Then they might take a step back and have a think about what they are actually doing. Half of them know what went on anyway. They are just following the person in front, so who is the actual fool?
"I've come away again with another victory here."
McCormack scored from the penalty spot eight minutes into the second after Lewis McGugan was adjudged to have brought down Stephen McPhail in the area.
The scoreline was harsh on Forest, who dominated for long periods in the first half. Debutant Joe Garner struck an upright, while McGugan, Chris Cohen, Garath McCleary and James Perch had chances.
Former Cardiff striker Robert Earnshaw wasted Forest's best opportunity of the second half when he fired straight at keeper Tom Heaton after being sent clear by Carl Fletcher.
Jay Bothroyd wasted Cardiff's best chance before McCormack's winner when he volleyed wide of the target from 12 yards out.
The defeat leaves Forest rooted to the foot of the Championship, six points adrift of safety, but boss Colin Calderwood remains positive.
He said: "It was an unrewarding day but I think we have moved forward in one or two other aspects.
"We hope that Paul Anderson hasn't suffered any recurrence of his injury and hope that fatigue was the reason why we had to take him off.
"And Joe Garner has, I think, already showed, unprepared though he was for match action after so long out through injury, a real knowledge of playing up front.
"The benefits to us and him were there for all to reason.
"It was rewarding in lots of ways but nothing that gives us a point or any great amount of pleasure and is obviously no consolation to losing the game.
"There's a lot of brightness about the future - not if you look at the paper tomorrow morning but look beyond that and I think there's things to be pleased about our progress."

| Police to investigate Tyne-Wear derby violence - 26/10/2008 Source : InTheNews.co.uk Police have pledged to hold an inquiry into the violence that marred yesterday's Premier League clash between Sunderland and Newcastle United. Fans rushed on to the pitch after the final whistle to celebrate the home side's 2-1 win, but fighting soon broke out. During the match, at Sunderland's Stadium of Light, coins and other missiles were thrown at Newcastle duo Shay Given and Joey Barton as the substitute warmed up. Twenty-nine people were arrested following the post-match violence, which saw fireworks thrown at mounted police officers – burning one horse – while a British transport police officer sustained a broken wrist separating rival fans before the match. Up to 1,000 Newcastle fans are thought to have travelled to Sunderland via public transport; foregoing the free coaches laid on by the club. Chief Superintendent Neil Mackay of Northumbria police said: "There will be a post-match enquiry to identify and arrest those who committed offences and I would particularly appeal for the public to identify the people responsible for throwing fireworks. "It is difficult to comprehend the mentality of this. It is only through good fortune that the rider and horse and those nearby did not suffer serious injury." Sunderland manager Roy Keane, speaking after his side won their first home game against the Magpies for almost three decades, said he hoped the violence would not detract from the Black Cats' victory. "We'll have to wait and see but hopefully it won't take away from what the players have achieved," the Irishman said. "Nobody likes to see fans on the pitch, trust me, but hopefully they [the FA] will go easy on us because the fans have to enjoy it." | |

| Football fan 'head-butted rival' - 22/10/2008
Source: BBC
An alleged football hooligan only head-butted a rival fan through fear of being hit, a court has heard.
Crystal Palace fan ********** told Southwark Crown Court he was trying to avoid trouble during the brawl at Sydenham rail station last September.
The prosecution alleges a gang of Palace fans ambushed the train to stop Charlton Athletic fans escaping.
Mr ******, 35, of ***** Thornton Heath, south London, is one of six men who deny violent disorder.
CCTV footage of the chaos was shown to the jury in the trial on Wednesday.
The clashes erupted when a group of more than 30 Palace fans boarded a train full of Charlton supporters ahead of a local derby between the south London rivals.
Mr ***** said he could hear the rival fans chanting and banging on the windows as the train arrived, but dismissed it as "banter".
He said that once he was on the train he turned around and "saw the commotion".
He told the court: "I saw beer getting thrown and pushing and shoving."
"I was just trying to get out of the way," he added.
He said a Charlton supporter accused him of throwing a bottle, and in fear of getting hit he head-butted him.
Alan Kent, prosecuting, asked Mr ******** why he had chosen to go to Sydenham before the match, when trains carrying rival supporters passed through that station.
But Mr ****** said it was convenient, and that it was a coincidence that the group of Crystal Palace fans had ended up in the same place.
The other defendants are *********, 40, of *****, Thornton Heath, south London; *****, 37, of *******, Worthing, West Sussex; *******, 39, of *****, Croydon, south London; and *******, 21, of ********, Purley, Surrey.
The trial continues. | |

| Stockport County - Oldham Athletic - 03/10/2008
Source: local press
Fighting ensued following the strike for Oldham and the referee was forced to halt the game for a couple of minutes as it spilled onto the edge of the pitch.
Police moved in to quell trouble and several blooded fans were escorted away by officers and stewards.
Latics supporters blamed an inadequate allocation of 2,000 tickets for the hotly-anticipated League One game.
They quickly sold out a week in advance leaving supporters, desperate to cheer on their team, turning up on the night and purchasing tickets from the Stockport ticket office instead.
They were then able to get in to the home section where trouble occurred.
One Latics supporter in the middle of the melee said: “Some of the fans jumped up and down in the Stockport end which started it all off.
“There was fighting and I saw one guy with blood on his face. The police came running down the stand as fighting spilled on to the pitch.
“It was stupid because all we wanted to do was watch the game.”
Order was quickly restored and there was no other trouble before or after the incident. Latics went on to record their first defeat of the season, losing 3-1 in front of a crowd of 8,360.
Latics chief executive Alan Hardy said: “I was there and aware of the trouble.
“It seems to have been caused by Oldham Athletic supporters in the Stockport end, which breaches crowd regulations.”
He said Oldham had asked for more tickets but Stockport did not increase their allocation.
While that was disappointing, he sympathised with Stockport as there are restrictions on how many fans can attend and any decision is made in consultation with police.
A police spokesman said today: “Several Oldham fans were ejected from the ground. There was one arrest for public disorder.”
