| Prague Police in Strike ahead of Match with Dinamo - 02/10/2008
Source : Javno
The Czech police are on strike ahead of a match between Sparta and Croatia’s Dinamo, demanding higher salaries and new forces.
Everybody expecting riots in Prague got their hopes high because there is a big problem in the Czech police. Czech police officers and fire-fighters took to the streets and decided to stage a strike right before the arrival of some 1,000 fans of the Dinamo football club from Zagreb. Fans are revving up for a big fight on Czech and Croatian forums.
Zagreb’s Bad Blue Boys are planning to trash half of the city and Sparta fans because they are in conflict with the Dinamo team’s management, as well as posters put up by Sparta fans in support to Serb war crimes suspects Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic.
On the other hand, the Czech ruffians are refusing to let foreigners destroy their city and they also want revenge for two attacks in Zagreb when supporters, not fans of the Sparta football team, were beaten up.
UEFA is expected to carefully watch the match between the two teams. Dinamo’s fans are known for causing trouble and lately only their stay in Linfield resulted in no fines. On the other hand, Sparta’s fans are not so innocent either and are also well known to the disciplinary commission. It might be interesting on the field and perhaps outside of it.

| Sparta Praha - Dinamo Zagreb - 02/10/2008Source: http://www.sportovninoviny.cz + http://bleskove.aktualne.centrum.cz + http://www.idnes.cz + Javno Police Arrest 100 Dinamo Fans in Prague Before going to the stadium, fans attacked the police and one officer was seriously injured with shards of glass. A few hours before the football match between Sparta Prague and Dinamo Zagreb, around 300 Dinamo fans gathered in the middle of Prague and started provoking Sparta fans. Soon after that bottles started flying, as well as torches and any other item fans could get their hands on. As a result, 100 fans were arrested. “Before heading towards the stadium, the fans attacked the police and one police officer was seriously injured with shards of glass” said the spokesperson of the Prague police, Iva Knolova to the Czech portal Novinsky. During the last two days around 1100 Dinamo fans left for Prague, and the disorder started last night around 1am, when 150 Dinamo fans clashed with the police. However, nobody was arrested then. The clashes were announced as soon as the draw decided that the Prague team was to play the Zagreb team, because Sparta’s fans raised banners of support to Radovan Karadzic after that criminal was arrested. The fact that a Prague resident was beaten up before the match in Zagreb did not help calm things down. Even though the Prague police were warned that there could be disorder, obviously they were not taken seriously or the police overestimated themselves. Maybe the reason for not being prepared is their discontent with their working conditions, because of which the police and fire-fighters were on strike yesterday in Prague. 15 arrested and one seriously injured ahead of Everton game
BELGIAN police arrested 15 people ahead of Everton’s UEFA Cup clash last night.
Most were detained for ticketing offences.
An Everton fan was also treated in hospital for stomach injuries sustained ahead of the tie with Standard Liege.
Initial reports suggested the Blues fan was stabbed in the run-up to the game.
But a Merseyside police spokeswoman today said their Belgian counterparts claimed he was injured after falling onto broken glass.
They said the fan told paramedics he had “fallen on a broken bottle” before the game.
They said he had been in the midst of a crowd of people when he fell.
His wounds were not considered life threatening.
Everton FC officials confirmed there had “been an incident” in Liege town centre prior to the game which Everton lost 2-1.
A spokesman said: “The club has instructed its travel partner Thomas Cook, who operate the official trips from Liverpool to Liege, to remain with the man and arrange transportation for him back to Liverpool.”
An Evertonian describing himself as the man’s friend posted news of the injury on an Everton FC forum.
It is thought the fan was hurt in the late afternoon, shortly before the match kicked off at 6.40pm.
His friend said: “I’m shaking here.
“All standing outside a bar – no sign of trouble.
“He just sits down and says he’s got a pain in his side, lifts up his shirt, blood everywhere.”
And according to reports an Evertonian died during the game.
It is understood he suffered a heart attack in the stands.
Supporters also described ugly scenes after the match when a group of Blues fans were penned in by a coach turning in a car park.
They complained to police who they accused of being heavy handed in their approach.

| Police prepare anti-alcohol operation for football weekend - 06/10/2008
Source : STV
Scotland's police forces said they will mount a major operation against people who try to bring alcohol to the Scotland football match against Norway at Hampden Park on Saturday.
The effort to stop people from carrying alcohol to the match comes in the midst of Alcohol Awareness Week. It is estimated that alcohol abuse costs the country £2.25billion a year.
Police officers from the eight forces in Scotland will be joined by the British Transport Police in ensuring that the World Cup qualifying fixture is not tainted by those who have been drinking excessively and are disorderly.
Buses and trains transporting fans to Glasgow for the afternoon match will be targeted and anyone found in possession of alcohol may be arrested and charged. In addition bus drivers and operators would be liable to prosecution if they knowingly allowed alcohol to be carried on their vehicles.
Although Scotland international football fixtures are generally free of disorder or violence there is growing concern that excessive drinking - sometimes during lengthy train or bus journeys to the game - may lead to trouble.
Chief Superintendent Robin Howe of Strathclyde Police, speaking on behalf of the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland, said: "Members of the Tartan Army have a tremendous reputation around the world for their friendliness and high spirits. We are determined to ensure that this does not deteriorate into rowdiness or violence because too much drink has been taken by an irresponsible few."
It is an offence to be under the influence or in possession of alcohol in and around the area of the designated sporting event. Any alcohol found in such circumstances will be removed and disposed of by police. Police officers will have "dipsticks" to test if soft drinks have had alcohol added to them.
Liberal Democrat health spokesman Ross Finnie urged the SNP Government to mark Alcohol Awareness Week by accepting their call for a new campaign.
Mr Finnie said: "The alcohol strength of drinks has changed and the size of glasses has also changed. It makes sense, therefore, for information about safe drinking levels."
Among the recommendations offered in June, the Lib Dems called for a crackdown on retailers who sell to underage customers and action to tackle the sale of cheap alcohol by supermarkets.
Public health minister Shona Robison has already encouraged people to take up the seven alcohol awareness challenges. These urge drinkers to have at least two alcohol-free days a week, to keep a drinking diary, drink smaller glasses of booze, try lower alcohol beers, eat before they drink, drink responsibly, and drink plenty of water.
"We know that many people in Scotland drink responsibly, but we also know that alcohol misuse is a serious problem, affecting our health and wellbeing," Ms Robison said. "Making small, simple changes to our drinking habits can deliver big benefits and it doesn't have to be difficult."

| Peterborough United FC - Leeds United AFC - 04/10/2008Source : Peterborough Today Police pleased as Posh-Leeds match is trouble-freePeterborough police have declared their huge security operation for Saturday's Posh match against Leeds United a success after the fixture passed virtually trouble-free. The sell-out League One encounter against the Yorkshire giants was viewed as the first big policing test of this season, with the kick-off brought forward to noon in a bid to prevent drink-fuelled hooliganism. Saturday shoppers were amazed to see a blanket police operation involving dozens of officers on the ground, many carrying their riot gear, police dog units and mounted police, which were drafted in from the City of London force. The police helicopter also kept an eye in the sky on milling crowds to ensure a swift reaction if any trouble broke out. British Transport Police also helped ensure fans got on and off trains without scuffles. But the huge police presence ensured Posh's 2-0 victory on the field wasn't the only success of the day, with almost 4,200 away fans shepherded in and out of the city virtually without incident. Superintendent Tom Mackinnon, who led the police operation, said there had been "minimal disruption" and only seven matchday arrests for drunkenness and minor public order offences. He said: "There were no notable incidents of disorder either before or after the game. "I would like to thank Peterborough United Football Club and the British Transport Police for their help with this successful policing operation." The Evening Telegraph revealed in June how police and Posh officials agreed to the earlier kick-off for the Leeds clash along with two other major fixtures this season. It was seen as a potentially volatile match, largely because of the sheer number of travelling supporters expected and their past record for hooliganism. Leeds fans made up nearly a third of the biggest attendance seen at London Road for 14 years, but the matchday security operation was equal to the challenge. Fans arriving in the city on early trains were greeted at the station by officers with video cameras on the lookout for known troublemakers. Many supporters were then escorted to a handful of designated pubs, including the Draper's Arms, in Cowgate, the Cherry Tree, in Oundle Road, and the Swiss Cottage, in Grove Street, before being led to the ground prior to kick-off. Once the match had finished, police fanned out to potential troublespots, such as Cathedral Square, where several riot vans were waiting as fans were shepherded through. Pubs and bars across the city were also warned to let only regulars through their doors for the rest of the afternoon. The Draper's Arms was packed with Leeds fans before the match, but shift manager Gwen Holland said they were "very well behaved". She said: "We were a little bit concerned before Saturday because of the amount of tickets sold to the away supporters, but everything went well. "Football fans can get a bit rowdy, but all they did was sing a few songs before they left for the match. "We didn't have any trouble from anybody." Despite the success of the security operation, police know there are further tests to come this season. Posh home matches against Millwall on Boxing Day and Leicester City on March 28 have both been earmarked as potential problem days. | |

At the end of the game some ultras from Superdragoes (FC Porto) tried to ambush Benfica Lads in Leixoes , but Benfica lads in bigger numbers tried to fight with them , but ACAB stop the fight with a charge against both groups.

Leixões is a club from Matosinhos, near the city of Porto! Well, in Port lives one of our biggest enimies, Super Dragões from Futebol Clube do Porto, the main club from north of Portugal, at least they say they are, but they know that Benfica rules everywere! But concerning the game, around 25 Super Dragões or Porto Casuals, i dont give a fuck, came near the stadium trying to catch some of Benfica ultras, Diabos Vermelhos, but the real target was Benfica casuals, No Name Boys! In a monday game, we, NN, took around 200 real lads to Matosinhos, but the little fuckers from Porto prefer to catch isolated groups of 5/6 lads, that to have a party with big numbers, those pricks! At the end of the game, the pigs went near a car park to try to catch the lads from Diabos Vermelhos, but as we know that they were somewhere waiting, we go after Diabos and we had the luck to find all of them! In few seconds we have 250/300 lads against 25! In a regular way, we dont like to fight with that difference of numbers, but if the pigs from Porto were after 5/6 Benfica supporters all afternoon, and they were 25, then fuck them! But as the best dreams come to an end, the OB show up big time, we had a little go at them but here they beat big time! We go to our lives and sure the Porto lads never show up again with 25 pigs in our games!
