NK Mura - NK Maribor - 17/02/2024
Source : https://www.insideworldfootball.com/ Mura-Maribor Slovenian derby abandoned after fans through smoke bombs and fireworks
Ugly scenes marred the Slovenian Prva Liga derby between Mura and Maribor which was abandoned at the start of the second half with the score 2-0 in favor of Maribor after visiting fans started throwing smoke bombs and fireworks on to the pitch.
The referee immediately stopped the game and ordered the players to the dressing rooms. Both teams then agreed to play on if the Maribor fans left the stadium but the supporters refused to leave, instead threatening to cause more trouble if they were forced out. Minutes later, the referee abandoned the game.
Six members of Mura’s staff suffered injuries from the projectiles.
The Slovenian Football Federation (NZS) condemned the incident and called on the authorities to take appropriate measures.
“At the Football Association of Slovenia, we are outraged and shocked by the events in the match of the 21st round of the First Telemach League between Mura and Maribor. Until the 57th minute, we watched the fans’ celebration, but then the match was interrupted due to fan riots, and six members of the home team were injured when dangerous explosives were used by the visiting fans. At the NZS, we want and hope that those injured as a result of a thoughtless, shameful event will not suffer long-term consequences. We wish everyone a speedy recovery,” said a Slovenian FA statement.
Fan Violence Halts Mura-Maribor Match: A Dark Day for Football The highly anticipated Mura-Maribor match ended abruptly in the 58th minute due to an outbreak of fan violence. Six individuals, including three Mura players, were injured. The incident raises questions about fan behavior and the safety of players and spectators.
In a stunning turn of events that marred the spirit of football, the much-anticipated match between Mura and Maribor was abruptly halted in the 58th minute, not due to an act of nature, but a shocking outbreak of fan violence. This incident, unfolding on the lush green of the pitch, left six individuals injured, including three players from the Mura squad. The clash, which required the intervention of police forces and saw the game suspended indefinitely, has now become a focal point of investigation with potential sanctions looming on the horizon.
The Chaos Unfolds As the clock ticked closer to the hour mark, what was supposed to be a celebration of football turned into a scene of chaos. A pyrotechnic device, thrown by fans towards the pitch with malicious intent, exploded near the Mura players. The immediate aftermath saw two individuals grappling with severe hearing damage and burns, a testament to the device's lethal potential. Amidst the confusion, clashes erupted in the stands, necessitating a swift response from the police. The referee, prioritizing safety above all, suspended the game, leaving players to attempt a pacification of the irate fans while medical personnel rushed to aid the injured. Response and Repercussions
In the wake of the violence, the presidents of both clubs, Robert Kuzmič of Mura and Bojan Ban of Maribor, stepped forward to address the media. The news conference painted a picture of shock and regret, with Kuzmič expressing his disbelief over the events and Ban extending an apology on behalf of Maribor. The focus, however, quickly shifted to the well-being of the injured players, particularly Tilen Ščernjavič and Niko Kasalo, who bore the brunt of the attack. With severe injuries sidelining them for at least six weeks, the incident not only disrupted the match but also the players' careers and lives.
The Aftermath and The Future The fallout from the incident has sparked a broader conversation about fan violence and the safety of players and spectators alike. With the match suspended and no immediate decision on its resumption, a disciplinary commission has been tasked with deciding the outcome. The focus now turns to the investigation, as authorities work to piece together the events that led to the suspension. Sanctions are expected, but the broader implications for football culture and fan behavior remain to be seen.
As the dust settles on a day that will be remembered for all the wrong reasons, the football community is left to reflect on the events at Mura versus Maribor. The incident goes beyond the confines of a single match, challenging the very principles of sportsmanship and respect that the game stands on.

Clashes during the Gallipoli-Nardò derby: ten injured, fans taken to police station.
The reopening of Gallipoli's 'Bianco' stadium is tinged with gloom. Violent clashes between supporters broke out late yesterday afternoon at the end of the football match between the host club and Nardò. Several supporters were arrested and some were forced to seek hospital treatment for injuries sustained during the clash. On the pitch, the derby ended in a 2-0 win for Gallipoli. However, as the fans left the stadium, they came into contact with each other, triggering first a scuffle and then a guerrilla war that caused great fear among the families. According to an initial reconstruction carried out by the men of the Lecce Digos and their colleagues from the Gallipoli police station, the clash, during which kicks, punches and objects were thrown, involved the ultras factions of the two supporters.

Sentenced in France, Russian supporter Pavel Kosov released from prison - 19/02/2024
Source : https://socialbites.ca/
Spartak Moscow fan Pavel Kosov, who was convicted in 2018 for the riot during the 2016 European Championship in France, returned to Russia. In an interview with Championship, he shared his first feelings after returning.
“The transfer was difficult, I almost missed the flight. There was still a flight to Sheremetyevo and I was too busy looking, I had to run. I feel good, but fatigue has accumulated.
There was no emotion associated with the release. A slight destruction. You can say I’m in prostration. There is a percentage that imprisonment is political. I felt supported but it’s a shame there wasn’t more support before and during the hearing. Then this problem would have been solved much faster,” said the fan.
Kosovo and its citizen Mikhail Ivkin were arrested for participating in the riots in Marseille during Euro 2016 in February 2018. In 2022, a jury in France found them guilty of beating an England fan following a match between the Russian and English national teams in the tournament’s group stage.
Kosov was sentenced to 10 years in prison and Ivkin to three years. Because the time spent under investigation counted towards the sentence, Ivkin was deported to Russia on January 1, 2021, and Kosov continued to serve his sentence in France. It was learned that Kosovo would be evacuated early in February 2024.
Previously a veteran of Spartak statedHe said he wanted to see Promes on the field after the court decision.

Banned, Legia ultras provoked UEFA in another stand
This Thursday evening, during the second leg of the Europa League Conference play-off between Legia Warsaw and Molde, members of the highly renowned and controversial 'Żyleta' ultra tribune were denied access to their section due to a UEFA sanction.
In place of the Ultras in this stand was a group of children. However, the home fans still managed to get into the stadium.
Before kick-off, a large banner unfurled in the "Żyleta" stand displaying the phrase "This time you've won, UEFA". So there were no fans. But when the players took to the field, the Ultras, who were in fact present in another stand, brought out the tifo with the words "Surprise motherf*ckers!" followed by a spectacular fireworks display.

FC Metz Supporters Invade Pitch After Defeat Against Olympique Lyonnais: Club at Its Worst
Defeated at Saint-Symphorien against Olympique Lyonnais (1-2), FC Metz is at its worst. 19th in Ligue 1 and close to being bottom of the Championship, Grenats supporters invaded the Saint-Symphorien pitch a few minutes after the end of the match.
Several explosions, agricultural bombs were heard and threats towards the management of FC Metz were made. But after a few minutes, the atmosphere calmed down, but the supporters remained on the pitch. In this heavy context, Mathieu Udol, the Messin captain, said “understand that the situation is tense. I’m not justifying it, I hope there will be more calm. But I understand it. We have reached a stage where we ignore what is happening around us, even if they encouraged us in the first half. But we made mistakes that cost us dearly”.

Frankfurt fans continue Bundesliga protests against outside investors, game briefly interrupted
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Bundesliga game against Wolfsburg was briefly interrupted Sunday as home fans continued protests against outside investors by targeting the visiting club.
The second half had started just minutes before Frankfurt supporters threw small plastic balls onto the field behind one of the goals. At least one small plastic pig was also thrown, landing beside one of the goal posts.
The fans also held a giant banner criticizing Volkswagen-backed Wolfsburg with an expletive, saying the “investor club” should be excluded from the German soccer federation (DFB).
The game was held up for around six minutes while the items were removed before play resumed with Wolfsburg leading 2-1.
