After the incidents at home against Sankt-Pauli and Schalke04, and especially away to SC Paderborn (38 injuries and €50,000 in material damage), the Hansa Rostock club is taking concrete measures to fight against its violent supporters:

Upcoming work to improve the away fan zone, stadium bans, ban on tifo at home until the end of March 2024, travel ban to Hannover 96 and VfL Osnabruck.

A smaller group of Ingolstadt visited it too and a street fight started, won by the larger group of Sandhausen/Aalen.
One Ingolstad was Ko'd.

All 105 Croatian hooligans from Dinamo Zagreb, involved in violent incidents in Athens on August 8, including the words of an AEK supporter, Michalis Katsouris, 29, were released on bail of €1,000 each. .

No one is being prosecuted for the homicide of the Greek supporter.

On Friday evening, at 9:20 p.m., hooligans from Mainz 05 and Eintracht Frankfurt fought in the center of Mainz. Around fifty individuals were involved.

The police intervened and were able to control some of them, already known for acts of hooliganism.

A bus carrying FC Twente supporters traveling to PSV Eindhoven (match postponed to January 16 due to heavy rain) was attacked at a rest area on the A50 motorway by around fifty Heerenveen supporters, who were traveling to the cup match against Vitesse Arnhem.

Greek Police Officer Succumbs to Injuries from Hooligan Attack - 27/12/2023

LA Greek police officer has succumbed to injuries caused by a flare shot during an attack by hooligans on riot police outside a volleyball stadium in Rentis, near Piraeus, on December 7.

The 31-year-old officer had been hospitalized at Nikaia General Hospital, where he was sedated, intubated, and supported with mechanical ventilation. Due to the severity of his injuries, he underwent leg amputation earlier this month.

An 18-year-old has been arrested and is facing charges of attempted manslaughter in connection with the incident.

Citizen Protection Minister Yannis Oikonomou expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased officer.

“The apprehension of all those involved in his murder, at every level, is the least we can do to honor his memory and a necessary response to the Greek society’s demand for justice,” he said in a statement.

The Greek government recently unveiled measures aimed at addressing sports-related violence.

Greece : Criminal case brought against 25 hooligans - 28/12/2023

The Anti-Sports Violence Subdivision is launching a criminal case for the formation of a criminal organization against at least 25 hardcore Olympiakos hooligans.

They are alleged to have participated in the incidents of December 7 during a volleyball match in Renti that injured the 31-year-old riot police officer Giorgos Liggeridis, who died on Wednesday, as well as in at least three more fan-related clashes with the police and violent attacks.

The officer succumbed to injuries caused by a naval flare and had been hospitalized at Nikaia General Hospital, where he was sedated, intubated and supported with mechanical ventilation. Due to the severity of his injuries, he underwent a leg amputation earlier this month.

An 18-year-old has been arrested and is facing charges of attempted manslaughter in connection with the incident.

Among the three cases the 25 hooligans have been implicated in were the clashes on December 3 at the Panthessaliko Stadium in Volos in central Greece at the end of the Volos-Olympiakos game. Among those, moreover, who were in the stands of the stadium was 18-year-old N.G., who, a few days later, was arrested as the perpetrator of the fatal injury of the riot police officer.

Another incident that is reportedly going to be included in the case file is the bloody knife attack on a woman, a Panathinaikos hooligan, by Olympiakos hooligans. The 27-year-old, who has already been accused of being one of the perpetrators in this case, was also involved in the incidents in Renti.

So far, the circle of at least 25 suspects has been derived from statements of people who over the past three weeks have been brought in and questioned.

According to estimates, some 50 young Olympiakos fans have been summoned to the seventh floor of the GADA police headquarters in Athens, with several of them naming individuals who were involved in the attacks on riot police outside the indoor volleyball stadium.

Brawl erupts outside Edinburgh pub as hooligans clash after Hearts Vs Hibs derby

Footage circulating on social media appears to show two groups of Scots football hooligans brawling.

The video was posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, and the person that posted the video claimed the men fighting on Greenside Place, Edinburgh are members of Hibs and Hearts ultras groups, reports Edinburgh Live.

Several men can be seen fighting at the entrance to the Theatre Royal Bar, throwing punches and kicking one another, with more violence erupting on the street as objects are thrown and the melee escalates.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.25pm on Wednesday, 27 December, 2023, police received a report of a disturbance on Greenside Place, Edinburgh.

England : Football hooligans in Crewe Station running battle as rail staff attacked - 27/12/2023

Police are hunting football yobs who staged a running battle at a train station which saw bottles hurled and two rail workers attacked. The violence broke out at Crewe Station where officers believe around 20 fans were involved.

Now British Transport Police believe 'multiple witnesses' saw the disorder with some filming the violent scenes. The trouble flared on platform five at around 7pm on December 16.

A spokesperson for BTP said: "Officers investigating disorder that occurred at Crewe Railway Station are today appealing for witnesses to come forward.

"The incident occurred on platform five when around 20 football fans began throwing bottles and fighting, resulting in two members of rail staff being assaulted. Officers believe there may be multiple witnesses, some of whom are believed to have filmed the incident."

Reformed soccer hooligan Frank Portinari has told how a Boxing Day fixture between Tottenham and Millwall descended into brutal medieval combat – with fans using whatever came to hand as weaponry.



A self-confessed football hooligan has told of the “maddest” day of crowd violence he ever lived through – where men threw "spears" at each other.

North Londoner Frank Portinari became a Spurs supporter as a teenager, during a golden era where the club was going from success to success. But he soon fell in with a dangerous faction of the team’s fanbase, after being seen “standing his ground” during an ugly clash at Stoke.

By the time Frank had reached his twenties, he had become a key member of a violent gang that followed the team across the country, and into Europe. But it was a Second Division clash with London rivals Millwall that saw the most brutal scenes of Frank’s time as a soccer thug.

Not long after Millwall had been highlighted by the BBC’s Panorama programme as the worst example of football violence, Spurs were drawn away against the South Londoners in a Boxing Day fixture.

“I'd been to a a Christmas party the night before and I had left at 5am," Frank told podcaster Dodge Woodall.

“At 8 o’clock in the morning, my mate Bill came knocking at the door… and I’m still half-p****d. I’d done a bottle and a half of Captain Morgan’s rum. I said ‘Bill you got to be joking mate’ and he said ‘Come on we got to go – I’ve got the works!’.”

Bill had “borrowed” his work’s van, and filled it with shovels and pickaxes in anticipation of a major battle with the feared Millwall hooligans.

“I said ‘What's the plan Bill?’ and he said ‘We're going to drive down The Old Kent Road, we’re going to attack the Canterbury Arms.’ I said ‘Where is everybody else?’ But it was just us two.”

Perhaps it was for the best that Bill’s madcap plan was thwarted after police spotted the pair driving across London Bridge and advised them to rethink their plans for the day.

But there was still a good deal of violent mayhem at the match that the police were unable to prevent.

“That was the maddest day I've ever had at football in this country,” Frank said. “I saw a feller put a screwdriver throw another feller’s cheek. There was wooden fencing being used – people beating each other with it, throwing it at each other…"
