French Supercopa Final Boycotted by PSG and Toulouse Ultras Over High Ticket Prices and Venue Controversy - 19/12/2023
Source : https://bnnbreaking.com/
In a bold display of solidarity, ultras from both Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Toulouse have raised their collective voice against the forthcoming French Supercopa final. The match, slated for January 3rd, has been embroiled in controversy due to high ticket prices and the last-minute decision to host it at PSG’s home ground, Parc des Princes. Supporters from both sides have chosen to boycott the event, criticizing the lack of fairness and accusing the French Professional Football League (LFP) of prioritizing commercial interests over the spirit of the game.
Unfair Grounds for Competition
The Toulouse ultras have voiced their discontent about the match being held at their opponent’s home stadium. This decision, they argue, compromises the very essence of fair competition. The abruptness of the scheduling has added to the ire, raising questions about the transparency and integrity of the LFP’s decision-making process.
Exorbitant Ticket Prices
Parisian ultras from the Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP) have echoed Toulouse’s sentiments. Their primary bone of contention lies in the exorbitant ticket prices for the Supercopa final. They argue that the cost of entry far surpasses that of Champions League matches, an indication, they believe, of the LFP’s hypocrisy. Commercial Interests Over Sporting Spirit
Over the years, the LFP has ventured to host the Supercopa finals in diverse locations such as Canada, Morocco, Tunisia, the USA, Gabon, and Israel. This strategy, ostensibly aimed at broadening the fanbase and increasing revenue, has often been met with lukewarm response. Previous editions held in China and the USA, for instance, were marred by poor attendance. The decision to host the final in France this year, following a failed attempt to secure a location in Thailand, has further incensed the supporters. Both Toulouse and PSG fans see it as a stark manifestation of the LFP’s disregard for the spirit of the game.

Greece : Measures announced to tackle sports violence - 20/12/2023
Source : https://www.ekathimerini.com/
Deputy Sports Minister Giannis Vroutsis introduced new measures to combat fan violence on Wednesday.
Proposals include restricting each team to a single fan club, mandatory electronic security systems in Super League and Basket League stadiums, and fines ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 euros for “low-level fan violence.”
In compliance with the Council of Europe’s Saint-Denis Convention, a National Coordination Committee will be formed to ensure a comprehensive, cross-agency approach to safety, protection, and service provision at sports events.
Furthermore, a ticket holder identification system, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Governance, aims to enhance security measures for sporting events.

Montpellier sees its match against OM stopped because of fireworks thrown by its supporters
The match was interrupted in the 79th minute before calm returned four minutes later, but the Hérault club, which had received a withdrawal of two points, including one suspended after throwing firecrackers against Clermont), could be sanctioned again.
Faced with this sporting issue, captain Teji Savanier and coach Michel Der Zakarian spoke directly to the Montpellier ultras to ask them to stop their throwing of pyrotechnic devices.

OM’s goal created tensions
Despite the travel ban for OM supporters at Mosson, some were still present in the stands, given the geographical proximity. These supporters could not contain their joy at the moment of Jordan Veretout's goal, with chants which did not please the Montpellier ultras. A few fights then broke out in a Montpellier stadium.

England : football hooligans including thug woman rain down punches outside pub in Brighton after Crystal Palace match - 21/12/2023
Source : https://www.dailymail.co.uk/
Football hooligans rain down punches on security guards outside a pub in Brighton after a match against Crystal Palace.
This video helped convict Calum Adams, 28, and his sister Daisy, 23, as well as her ex Oliver Treagus, 22, from North Chailey, all who later admitted to affray.
The trio had been refused entry at the pub near the station where Crystal Palace supporters had been drinking after an evening match.
Earlier that day, Calum had his match day ticket cancelled after being verbally abusive to Palace supporters and police near the pub.
That evening, he returned with Daisy and Treagus, where the brawl erupted.
All three admitted affray at Brighton Magistrates Court and were sent to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing.
Labourer Calum was jailed for six months and banned from football matches for six years.
Shop worker Daisy was sentenced to an 18-month community order with 15 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement sessions and a £200 fine.
Window cleaner Treagus was sentenced to 150 hours of unpaid work as part of an 18-month community order. He must also pay a £200 fine, and faces a four-year Football Banning Order.
The court heard how the incident started at about 5.45pm on March 15 this year.
A group of Crystal Palace supporters left Brighton Station, and Calum went towards them to confront them along with other supporters.
He directed abuse to the Crystal Palace supporters, and acted aggressively towards officers.
His match day ticket was cancelled as a result of this behaviour.
Then at 9.30pm, he arrived back at the same pub and sought to gain entry alongside his sister and Treagus.
They were intoxicated, and footage shows them attempting to punch and slap the security guards at the pub after being refused entry.
