UEFA excludes Dinamo Zagreb fans from all away games in Europe after killing of AEK Athens supporter 20.08
The decision was announced hours after Zagreb was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League on returning to Greece for the postponed second leg of a qualifying-round game against AEK Athens.
The game was scheduled as the first leg on August 8 then delayed after the death of a 29-year-old fan, Michalis Katsouris, in violent clashes near the AEK stadium.
Nearly 100 Croatian nationals have been detained in Athens on charges including murder, assault and membership of a criminal organization. Dinamo fans had travelled to Athens despite the club being barred by UEFA from selling tickets for the game, which was classed as a security risk.

STREETS OF RAGE Shocking moment football yobs fight in street during 50-man brawl after Bolton play Wigan
THIS is the shocking moment punches were thrown as a 50-man brawl broke out between rival football fans.
The brutal row came after Bolton Wanderers beat Wigan Athletic 4-0 on Saturday.
Violence erupted on the main shopping street in Greater Manchester despite increased police presence amid 4,000 Wigan fans flooding in to watch the game.
Disturbing scenes showed the pandemonium sparked on Market Street - which left one man in hospital and two arrested.
Cops cuffed the yobs on suspicion of violent disorder but they have since been released on bail as enquiries are ongoing.
Innocent bystanders were dragged into the wild brawl, with one woman pushed up against a wall as she attempted to avoid punches.
Councillor Arthur Price, who represents Westhoughton North on Bolton Council, was stunned when he saw the horrific scenes on social media.
He told the Manchester Evening News: "It's something we definitely don't want to see again.
"It's just not acceptable behaviour, it has endangered everybody that's on Market Street.
"I've watched the video, there are innocent people involved in that. I saw one were a woman was against a wall trying to get past.

Iron baseball bats, a wooden bar and helmets were found in the house of a 43-year-old Greek hooligan that was arrested on Thursday afternoon in connection with the killing of a soccer fan last week.
Officers also seized a mobile phone and a computer that may offer more clues as to his activities.
The suspect was identified as one of individuals that were involved in the clashes in Nea Philadelphia where AEK’s supporter 29-year-old Michalis Katsouris was murdered. In a video examined by police, the 43-year-old is seen guiding the Croat hooligans who attacked Katsouris.
The suspect, who is appearing before an investigative magistrate today, is accused of forming a criminal organisation, possession of a large quantity of explosives, violence against others, gun possession, illegal gun use, dangerous bodily injuries and other crimes.

Hooligan to appear in court on Tuesday over soccer fan’s death - 22/08/2023
Source : ekathemirini.com
A 43-year-old member of a Panathinaikos fan club, accused of participating in the brawl of August 7 outside the AEK Athens stadium that resulted in the fatal injury of Michalis Katsouris, will appear before an investigating magistrate on Tuesday after his arrest on Friday.
He was reportedly identified by police officers in security camera footage as one of the participants in the group of Croatian and Greek hooligans who attacked AEK fans outside the OPAP Arena on the eve of the Champions League qualifier with Dinamo Zagreb.
The suspect denies his involvement in the bloody incidents and claims that on the evening of August 7 he was not in Athens but on the island of Kefalonia with his partner. According to his defense attorney, he has the ferry tickets that took him to Kefalonia to prove this, and will present them on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, police have reportedly identified 10 more suspects in the security camera footage, most of them AEK fans, and this could lead to more arrest warrants being issued. Among those identified is a man in a red shirt who is seen clashing with 29-year-old Katsouris. A total of 105 people were arrested over the deadly brawl, most of them Croatian supporters of Dinamo Zagreb.

Suspect in deadly hooligan clashes released - 23/08/2023
Source : ekthatimerini.com
The 43-year-old Panathinaikos fan who was arrested over his alleged involvement in the fatal clashes between supporters of rival soccer teams in Athens earlier this month was released from pretrial custody on Tuesday after appearing before an investigating magistrate.
According to state broadcaster ERT, there was a disagreement only on whether or not to impose conditions: the investigator favored a mandatory appearance once a month at a police station, while the prosecutor was opposed to any conditions. The disagreement will be resolved by a judicial council.
The suspect reportedly denied the charges, claiming that he was on vacation on the island of Kefalonia when the deadly clashes took place, on the eve of the Champions League qualifier between AEK and Dinamo Zagreb. He even provided evidence (tickets, toll receipts, card payments, etc.) to prove that from August 2 to 8 he was on holiday. His partner also testified, backing up his claims that they were together.
He was reportedly identified in security camera footage as one of the participants in the group of Croatian and Greek hooligans who attacked AEK fans outside their team’s stadium in the suburb of Nea Filadelfia, on August 7.
In a raid of his house, police seized metal baseball bats, helmets and other incriminating objects. The suspect faces numerous felony charges, including of forming a criminal organization and causing grievous bodily harm.

UEFA bans Fenerbahce because of Maribor match incidents - 23/08/2023
Source : aa.com.tr
Appeals Body fines Istanbul club €30,000, bans team from selling tickets to away supporters for next match
UEFA Appeals Body announced Tuesday it banned Fenerbahce because of incidents during a UEFA Europa Conference League match against Maribor.
The Istanbul club was fined €30,000 ($32,992) and received a ban from selling tickets to away supporters for their next match.
The disciplinary action was for "lighting of a firework, throwing of objects, acts of damage and crowd disturbances," according to a statement.
Fenerbahce were also ordered to contact Maribor within 30 days to settle damages caused by their supporters.
Fenerbahce shutout Maribor 3-0 in the second leg match, which was halted for nearly 30 minutes due to events in the stands. The Slovenian club were eliminated on Aug. 18 on a 6-1 aggregate score.
