Dundee United - Dinamo Moscow - 02/08/2012

Source : http://news.stv.tv + http://www.thecourier.co.uk

Arrests after crowd violence at Dundee United Europa League match

Dundee United's Europa League clash with Dinamo Moscow was marred with crowd trouble as fans were seen scaling the Tannadice stands before beginning to fight.

Violence broke out within the first few minutes of the game as several men - allegedly Russian fans - climbed the top tier of the Jim McLean stand and began trading blows.

A spokeswoman for Tayside Police confirmed three fans were arrested and seven ejected from the ground.

The Russian club had brought less than 200 fans to the third-round qualifying match.

Police and stewards managed to separate the two sets of supporters and play was uninterrupted while the violence scenes were brought under control.

Last year, pockets of violence broke out in central Dundee during United's last Europa League qualifier with Slask Wroclaw when many businesses closed early as supporters hurled missiles at shops and pubs.

Ahead of the Dinamo Moscow match, a spokesperson for Tayside Police said they would "liaison with the clubs and the Russian authorities" in order to minimise the chance of trouble.

From Russia with shove as Moscow yobs scale stands for punch-up

STUNNED Dundee United fans cowered in fear last night as Russian football thugs scaled stands at Tannadice stadium to launch a savage attack.
The Dinamo Moscow yobs waded in just minutes into the crunch Europa League qualifying tie against their SPL hosts.

Shortly after kick-off, visiting hooligans climbed up into a section of a stand intended for home supporters before cops and security staff moved in to stop the brawl.

One fan said: “There were fists flying all over the place and there were kids caught up in it — the whole thing was disgraceful.”

Among the shocked crowd was Scottish Sun columnist and United fan Lorraine Kelly, who tweeted: “Full on brawl in front of me.

“Not seen anything like that at football for years. Two Russian fans climb up into United tier and attack fans. Hope Russian fans don’t spoil this game just because they want a rammy.”

The brawl came after 150 Russian fans arrived at the ground for the first leg tie, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

BBC Radio Scotland match commentator Jim Spence told listeners that fans of both clubs appeared to have been throwing punches.

He said: “There’s a real scrap going on and stewards and policemen are trying to stop it.

“A steward is trying his best to get in among it and there’s five or six policemen in there trying to stop it.”

Speaking at half time, BBC Sportsound presenter Richard Gordon said: “I can’t remember the last time I saw fighting like that at a Scottish football ground. United might well be in bother.”

Last night a spokesman for Tayside Police confirmed three fans were arrested and seven ejected from the ground.

Police detain hooligans after Stockholm clash

Several clashes between supporters of Stockholm football team AIK and Polish team Lech Poznan were reported on Thursday evening in the capital after the Swedish side beat the Poles 3-0 in a European league qualifier.

The brawling had already begun before the game with clashes between supporters in the Stockholm district of Kungsholmen, and continued at the Råsunda stadium where the game took place, according to police.

Police told news agency TT that they didn’t have enough manpower to start with.

“We had too small a number of officers at the beginning but it turned out alright after we called in an extra 50 or so,” said Per Wetterlind of the Stockholm police to TT.

After the game, the brawling continued to flare up in different parts of central Stockholm.

After twelve hours of clashes in the capital, the police finally had enough, rounded up some 50 Polish supporters and dropped them in the Stockholm suburb of Huddinge in the hope to cool the situation down.

“It is fairly obvious that all these people really were keen to fight,” said Anders Jönsson of the local police to daily Dagens Nyheter (DN) stressing that both sides were equally as bad.

According to police, several people were injured in the brawling, a handful were arrested on suspicion of rioting and aggravated assault and some 30 were taken into custody.

Fan wins fight to have Vale Park football banning order lifted - 04/08/2012

Source : http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk

PORT Vale fan Gary Coates has had his football banning order lifted 12 months early – after arguing the terms of the ban stopped him seeing his daughters on matchdays.

The father-of-two will now be able to return to Vale Park when the 2012/13 season gets under way with a league cup clash against Burnley on Tuesday, August 14.

Coates persuaded magistrates to lift the order after arguing he had learned his lesson – and that he could not see his daughters on matchdays because their home fell within the Vale Park exclusion zone.

The three-year order was issued in 2010 after Coates, aged 49, of Bank Hall Road, Burslem, was among Vale fans caught on CCTV spitting at police and shouting abuse following a home match against Shrewsbury.

Two police officers were injured when a 250-strong mob tore through Burslem at the end of the match on May 8, 2010.

Coates was among nine supporters to receive football banning orders from the courts for their actions.

Representing Staffordshire Police, David Bell told North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court yesterday that Coates had not been involved in any violent incidents on that day.

He said: "Mr Coates was seen in Hamil Road, Burslem, along with a large number of others to spit towards police lines."

The court also heard Coates made abusive gestures to police in Hamil Road and later in Moorland Road.

Representing himself, Coates told magistrates yesterday: "I have done everything I have been told to do, or not to do. I have not done anything wrong.

"Both my daughters live in Burslem and I'm not supposed to go near where they live on Saturdays because of the ban.

"If anything happened and I needed to get to my daughters on a Saturday, I'm not entitled to. I have grown up since I was banned.

"Drink was involved. I'm not a heavy drinker, I just drink socially – I'm lucky to go out once a fortnight now.

"On that day I had drunk six or seven pints.

"I would also like to start going back to the football."

Magistrates agreed with Coates's plea and agreed to lift the order.

Fan violence forces Blackburn Rovers's pre-season friendly with NEC Nijmegen to be cancelled - 05/08/2012

Source : http://www.telegraph.co.uk

Blackburn's pre-season friendly with Dutch club NEC Nijmegen scheduled for this afternoon has been cancelled due to the threat of fan violence.

The decision was taken by the police and the local authorities in Nijmegen after it was claimed that Rovers supporters had been involved in disturbances in Deventer on Friday and Saturday.
In addition to the friendly, Nijmegen had been set to host a fans' open day, with the local authorities expecting around 8,000 visitors including families with young children.
A statement on the Gelderland-Zuid section of the Polite.nl website read: "The deputy mayor of Nijmegen has decided to cancel the exhibition game between NEC and Blackburn Rovers. That match was due to be played today at 2.30pm during the annual open day of NEC.
"Supporters of the English club Blackburn Rovers were involved in rioting in Deventer on Friday and on Saturday there was a confrontation with supporters of NEC Nijmegen in the city.
"On the basis of serious signals to the police that a confrontation would take place again today, deputy mayor Henk Beerten in consultation with police, judiciary and mayor Hubert Bruls decided to cancel the match this afternoon.

Dundee United supporters clubs' chief probed over Dynamo Moscow match brawl - 07/08/2012

Source : http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk

A PROBE launched into the violent clash between Dundee United and Dynamo Moscow fans during the Europa League qualifer, plans to study CCTV footage and press photographers in an attempt to catch the violent thugs involved.

A PROBE has been launched after a football supporters clubs’ chief was pictured in the middle of violent clashes between rival fans at a European match last week.

Scott Innes, chairman of the Federation of Dundee United Supporters’ Clubs, was photographed at the heart of trouble at Tannadice during the Europa League qualifier between the Tangerines and Dynamo Moscow.

The Royal Mail worker, whose fans’ organisation represent more than 1500 people, was among a group of home supporters who reacted when away fans climbed into an area where they were sitting. Witnesses claimed the brawl was triggered by people throwing unidentified liquid and other objects at Russians seated below.

Some of the supporters involved were wearing shirts and ties and had attended the funeral of Dundee supporter Craig Morrell in the city earlier in the day.

Last night, a Dundee United source said: “The trouble is being investigated by people at the club, along with police and CCTV footage. Press photographs are also being looked at as part of the probe.

“Innes is easily identifiable and if it’s proved he was involved in the fighting, it could be very embarrassing for him and the club.

“He has already been asked about it and has told people at Tannadice that he was just trying to break it up.”

The supporters’ federation say on their website they “represent 27 member clubs totalling nearly 1500 Arabs in dealings with Dundee United, the Scottish Federation of Supporters’ Clubs, the Scottish Government, the police and other regulatory bodies”.

The online message adds their aim is to “encourage and promote an increase in the size of the Dundee United FC support and encourage and assist in the creation and development of new Dundee United FC Supporters’ Clubs.”

Police confirmed that three people were arrested at the game – two home fans and one away. Seven people were ejected, four from the home support and three Russians.

Officers are investigating whether the Russian fans were provoked and if known “risk supporters” were involved.

United fans flying to Moscow for this Thursday’s rematch have been warned to expect trouble.

Dynamo supporters have issued chilling threats to the hundreds of Tangerines’ fans heading for the second leg.

One wrote in an online forum: “I’ll tell you one thing, to Moscow, you can not go, now they will kill you there.”

Another said: “Scottish skirts, we’re waiting for you in Moscow.”

AC Ajaccio - Cagliari - Friendly game - 04/08/ 2012

Source : http://www.corsematin.com

The bus driver, exceeded, sent supporters out of his bus

Exceeded by a group 50 Cagliari supporters, a Corsican bus driver ended up unloading his passengers at the entrance of Propriano on Saturday night.

About fifty supporters had just watched the defeat of their team against AC Ajaccio. They went to Bonifacio, on the other side of the isle, from where they were to take the first ferry for Sardinia Sunday morning.

But their agitated and very noisy behavior put at severely tested the nerves of the driver, who has fears degradations. With the agreement of its owner, who went to the site, it left them with the roundabout of Baracci, at the entrance of Propriano, little before midnight.

According to our information, a dispute would then have opposed the manager of the shipping company to supporters. Blows would even have been exchanged.

The supporters were finally accompanied back until Bonifacio by a new company of bus, under escort of the gendarmerie.

England : 'Zero tolerance' at derby match - 02/08/2012

Source : http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk

Fans going to Saturday's testimonial match between Bristol City and Bristol Rovers are being urged to behave so the match can be remembered as a "great sporting spectacle".

The first derby between the sides since 2007, in honour of Robins' defender Louis Carey, is in the highest-risk category in terms of security.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary have cancelled rest days and annual leave to provide 200 officers to ensure an "extreme minority" of hooligans do not cause trouble.

Tickets will not be on sale on the day of the game. So far more than 7,000 tickets have been sold – 6,000 to City fans – so it is unlikely to be a sell-out before the deadline for ticket purchases at 5pm today.

The commander in charge, Chief Superintendent Andy Francis, said: "We will operate a zero-tolerance approach to the game and robustly tackle any football-related antisocial behaviour or violence."

Chelsea fans arrested after station clash at Brighton friendly

Football fans kicked a 50-year-old man in the head and left him nursing bite marks on his stomach on their way to the recent Brighton vs Chelsea pre-season friendly.

British Transport Police (BTP) were called to Falmer Station at around 3.15pm after reports a man had been attacked at the station having got off the train from Brighton.

Inspector Gary Ancell, based at Brighton BTP station on Queens Road, said, “An altercation took place between two men and the victim, a 50-year-old man from Manchester, on a Brighton to Falmer train. The victim left the train at Falmer station, but was followed by the two men into the station toilets and assaulted.

“During the ordeal, the victim was kicked and punched to the floor, before being repeatedly kicked in the head and body. As a result of the assault the victim received numerous wounds, including bite marks to his stomach.”

Two men were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. They have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries, due to return on Friday, August 24.

Police say all three are believed to be Chelsea supporters.

Insp Ancell added, “This is an extremely rare incident and the majority of football fans travel through Sussex problem-free. We will continue to work closely with Brighton &Hove Albion Football Club, Sussex Police and train operating companies to ensure match days are as safe as any other day to travel on the rail network.”

England : Police dossier leads to ban for Stockton Boro fan - 07/08/2012

Source : http://www.gazettelive.co.uk

AN 18-YEAR-OLD who put himself “at the forefront” of football violence and disorder has been banned from going to matches for three years.

Lewis James Kirtley, of Trent Street, Stockton, was given the football banning order by Teesside Magistrates yesterday, after Cleveland Police presented a case against him.

During a short court hearing, the teenager said he did not contest the claims he had caused or contributed to violence or disorder.

Teesside Magistrates heard Kirtley actively contributed to violence and disorder both within the Riverside stadium and elsewhere in 2011 and 2012.

The court heard that on one occasion, he was seen to throw a missile at rival supporters and made repeated attempts to engage in violence and disorder with rival fans.

A report prepared by Detective Constable James Smith also stated he had no regard for how his behaviour might have impacted on innocent football supporters.

In court, Kirtley accepted he had been involved in football violence but asked if he could retain his passport as he was due to begin work in Spain.

He also claimed he did not travel to a Burnley game by train as stated in the report, but by minibus and claimed he wasn’t in one of the pubs referred to in the report.

Kirtley was given the minimum three year football banning order and ordered to pay £200 costs - the amount it costs police to list the matter in court.

Chair of the bench John Downs said: “We are granting the application made by Cleveland Police for a football banning order which can be between three and five years.

“Because you have agreed and have been co-operative with the police in those enquiries we are setting this at the minimum level of three years, with costs of £200.”

Mr Downs also thanked DC Smith and his colleagues for the “very full document” on Kirtley’s misdemeanours, that took 40 hours to prepare.

France : Lille-PSG 'high risk' for violence - 09/08/2012

Source : http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com

Paris Saint-Germain's Ligue 1 clash at Lille on September 2 has been deemed a "high risk" threat for hooliganism, the French Football League announced.

The DNLH, a national organisation for the prevention of hooliganism, advised the LFP that “grievances exist between the hardcore fans of both clubs, a result of incidents at Lille during their last match in April”.
The Ministry of the Interior demanded that the LFP ensures that “only PSG fans, accompanied and protected from their departure from Paris, can access the away end” and that “tickets may not be sold or distributed in the home areas outside of the previously allocated season tickets”.
Before last season's match on April 29, 12 people were arrested after a fight between supporters in Lille’s city centre.
Seven Lille fans and five away supporters were taken into custody after a mass brawl saw rival hooligans hurl chairs at each other.
There were no serious injuries.

UEFA changes Russia sanction for fan violence - 09/08/2012

Source : http://msn.foxsports.com

UEFA has withdrawn a threat to deduct points from Russia in 2016 European Championship qualifying if its fans repeat their violence from Euro 2012.

UEFA says its appeal panel partially upheld an appeal by the Russian football association against a provisional six-point deduction imposed in June.

Instead, Russia will be ordered to play three Euro 2016 qualifiers at home in an empty stadium as punishment for a further violent incident.

Russia fans were filmed attacking stadium security staff in Wroclaw, Poland, after their team beat the Czech Republic 4-1 on June 8.

Four stewards were treated at a hospital but were not seriously injured.

UEFA holds football associations responsible for fan behavior at national team matches.

UEFA rejected Russia's appeal against a ?120,000 ($148,000) fine.
