| SK Lierse - Germinal Beerschot - 21/08/04
Source: mails - local lad view
Due to the fact that beerschot assisted lierse in the early days, referring to lokeren-lierse, this game had somewhat of a bad taste to it so we, the pcl lads dicided to stay in their local fan-home. But when the beerschot lads, about 50 of them, were walking back to their cars they spot the lierse mob and they dicided to test the young mob. they charge lierse. A large amount of scarfers start to run wich leads to the fact that only a handfull lierse lads stand post. The lierse mob resisted very good actually! "when it was clear to us that the beerschot group consisted of mostly young lads and that the old lads we're just looking we started to feel a little confident" a lierse lad said. They also forced the beerschot mob to back down a few 10 metres but then the cops mingled and the fight was over. beerschot attempted a second charge but the police reacted very heavily and aggressive and that led to a few arrests. "the little lierse mob that held ground to the large beerschot mob, admitted the old garde didn't participate in the fight, that's something to be somewhat proud of". that's the all around line of thoughts in the lierse camp. "i think we can say that the season is officially started for us!"
Visitor lad view:
During the game the young beerschot lads attempted to contact the pcl. they refused to have a fight after the game. when the game ended we stopped at their themacafe, but there was to much police to do something. we went back to cafe wimbledon where the older lads were. after a few other attempts to contact the lierse lads, the young lads were heading to their cars. suddenly when they passed by the head entrance, a group of approx 30-40 lierse lads were clapping in their hands, the 30 JGB lads saw it was pcl and they charged at them. +-20 lierse supporters ran away and a fight occured with the reamaning lierse lads. jgb charged untill they were in front of the thema cafe, at that place there were some older lads of lier and we fought with them, then te police tried to trap the young beerschot hooligans but the older hooligans who were watching the youngsters, stoud them by and helped the younger lads who were trapped. with this intervention there were +-5 older hooligans arrested. if it wasn't for them there were a lot more arrested people. it was a clean fight with no weapons and respect for the few lier lads who stoud their ground! we both agreed it was a nice action of JGB. _________________

| Crystal Palace - Sampdoria Genoa - friendly game - 08/08/04
Source : BBC News
Four Italian football fans from Genoa have been fined after fighting broke out at Stansted airport in Essex. Elisabetta Ottino, 37, and her partner Andrea Cogorno, 34, admitted using threatening behaviour during the incident on Saturday.
Mirko Oliveri, 29, and Fabio Pallotta, 26, admitted police obstruction.
Ottino and Cogorno were fined £300 each by Harlow magistrates. Pallotta and Oliveri were each fined £150 and all four had to pay costs of £87.
The four were in a 30-strong group of football supporters who flew from Genoa to watch Sampdoria take on Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Magistrates heard the flight crew had radioed for police back-up when the group had become rowdy and some had started smoking on the Ryanair flight.
Denise Murrin, prosecuting, said that once the plane was on the ground, Ottino, whose her five-year-old son was with her, started shouting and behaving aggressively and had to be forced into her seat twice by a police officer.
"She would not be calmed and would not sit down when requested. An officer had to physically place her in her seat," Mrs Murrin said.
Trouble flared after the group was taken off the plane and kept in a cordoned-off area while other passengers disembarked.
The court heard that Cogorno tried to barge through the cordon, pushing a customer services manager into the other passengers leaving the plane.
During the ensuing struggle, Cogorno had kicked and punched those detaining him.
Fighting spread
Some of the group, including Cogorno, began smoking while they were waiting near the plane. He was arrested when he refused to put out his cigarette.
As he was being taken away, Pallotta grabbed one of the officers and tried to drag him away from Cogorno.
The situation deteriorated and fighting spread when officers drew their batons and called for back-up.
In the ensuing melee CS spray went into the eyes of Ottino's son who had to be taken to hospital for treatment.
Mrs Murrin said the violence had not only disrupted the journey of other passengers but had a considerable financial impact on the airport.
Cogorno was fined an additional £50 Cogorno for smoking in a prohibited area. _________________

| Football rampage rioters jailed - 13/08/04
Source : BBC News
Six men who took part in riots in Boston during the summer have been sent to prison for a total of 11 years. They were among dozens of people who took to the streets after England's defeat against France at Euro 2004.
On Friday, Judge John Machin told the rioters that such behaviour will not be tolerated in this country.
Lincoln Crown Court heard £500,000 worth of damage was caused by a crowd of more than 200, who smashed windows and looted shops on 13 June.
Two police cars were set on fire and it took police several hours to restore order.
Banning orders
CCTV evidence played in court showed teenagers celebrating after police cars were burnt out, with several taking photos on their mobile phones.
The longest sentence, three years, was given to Richard Duncan, 38, of Ward Crescent, Fishtoft, who admitted violent disorder, burglary, theft and criminal damage.
Jake Wallwork, 25, of Haven Bank, Boston, was jailed for two-and-a-half years; Stephen Parker, 37, of Wyberton Low Road, Boston, for two years; Paul Adams, 44, of Willoughby Road, Boston, for 18 months.
Perry Pagden, 22, of Blacksmiths Grove, Fishtoft, and Paul Brannan, 26, of Peck Avenue, Boston, were jailed for 12 months each.
All admitted violent disorder.
Sentence was adjourned on Stephen Ranshaw, 33, of Frampton Place, Boston, who admitted violent disorder, and Michelle Jones, 20, of King Street, Boston, who admitted burglary.
Judge Machin imposed eight-year football banning orders on Adams, Wallwork and Pagden. _________________

| Man banned from football matches - 17/08/04
Source : BBC News
Police have welcomed a second Football Banning Order imposed on a Leicestershire man who orchestrated violence at matches. Justin Barrell from Oadby will not be able to attend any Leicester City home or away match for the next three years.
Barrell, 35, has been the subject of two other exclusion and banning orders.
District Judge Richard Holland said he was sure that while Barrell avoided being directly active in any confrontations, he orchestrated events.
'Clear message'
Barrell was made the subject of a previous banning order in January 2001 - but it was revoked after he had served two years of the ban.
He was also the subject of an 18 month Sporting Event Exclusion Order in 1993.
The new order prevents him from attending Leicester City matches, and excludes him from the city centre and from zones around stadia when games are to be played.
Superintendent Judith Rowden, a football match commander for Leicestershire Constabulary, said: "The result of the application sends a very clear message to others intent on causing trouble at football matches.
"Football hooliganism will not be tolerated and firm action will be taken against anyone who breaks or attempts to break the law." _________________
