OGC Nice - Napoli - Friendly - 02/08/2015

Source : http://forzaitalianfootball.com/

Napoli fans involved in crowd trouble ahead of Nice friendly

Napoli fans were reportedly involved in conflicts with French Police ahead of their friendly against Nice.

French special units were waiting in place because of Nice supporters’ friendship with the Partenopei’s rivals Inter and the game was classified as being at risk in advance.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, a group of Napoli fans threw a paper bomb outside the Allianz Riviera stadium which caused a fire near the motorway that led to firefighters arriving on the scene immediately and the road’s toll gate was closed for an hour.

Armed riot forces then responded with tear gas to disperse the Napoli fans who moved to a corner of the stadium by the Museum of Sport and Police turned away other Italian supporters as they attempted to bring the situation under control.

There were also reports of Azzurri fans throwing rocks down onto the street from an overpass above the motorway.

The French Division Nationale de Lutte contre le Hooliganisme reportedly received information from the Italian interior ministry to expect the arrival of around 300 Napoli fans at risk of causing trouble, although they were difficult to monitor on account of them arriving in cars rather than as a group.

The French authorities also feared the potential presence of Genoa supporters who are twinned with Napoli, after they were involved in an incident against Nice in 2009 in Cuneo, but there are no reports of them being present.

Lech Poznan : Polish champions sanctioned for racism - 03/08/2015

Source : http://wwos.ninemsn.com.au/

Polish champions Lech Poznan will be forced to play a match behind closed doors as punishment for a racist sign at a Champions League qualifier, UEFA announced on Monday.

European football's governing body took action after the offending banner appeared among Poznan's fans in the 2-0 Champions League second qualifying round first-leg win at Bosnian club FK Sarajevo on July 14.

The club was also fined 50,000 euros ($A75,221), according to UEFA's official website.

Poznan fans clashed with home supporters in Sarajevo during and after the game with 27 people, including nine police officers, wounded.

Lech Poznan, seven-time champions of Poland, went on to win the second qualifying round tie 3-0 on aggregate against Sarajevo.

But they face an uphill task to reach the play-offs after losing 3-1 to Swiss champions Basel in the third qualifying round first leg last week.

Should they overturn that deficit at St Jakob-Park in Switzerland on Wednesday, the Poles will be forced to play their next home European game behind closed doors.

Legia Warsaw FINALLY get a result from UEFA: Poles awarded 3-0 win after attack in Albania - 04/08/2015

Source : http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk

LEGIA WARSAW have been awarded a 3-0 win in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier against FK Kukesi.

The match in Albania last Thursday was abandoned after 51 minutes when Legia's Ondrej Duda was hit by a stone thrown from the crowd as his team celebrated taking a 2-1 lead.

Both teams were charged over the behaviour of supporters but, as Legia predicted on Twitter immediately after the abandonment, the match has been forfeited by Kukesi.

The second leg of the third qualifying round tie will go ahead as scheduled in Warsaw this Thursday.

The verdict from UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary body also sees Kukesi fined 70,000 euros (£49,000) and ordered to play their next home game in UEFA competition behind closed doors.

A sanction of a second behind-closed-doors match was suspended for two years.

CSKA Sofia fans invade pitch and chase Ashdod players in pre-season friendly

pre-season friendly at CSKA Sofia became anything but when the Israeli side Ashdod were chased off the pitch by supporters of the Bulgaria club at the Balgarska Armia Stadium on Sunday.

Angered by what they perceived to be overly aggressive tactics from Ashdod, CSKA supporters took matters into their own hands in added time, invading the pitch after bombarding the players with bottles, following a lunging challenge from one of the visitors which resulted in the second-tier Israeli side’s third red card.

After entering the pitch CSKA supporters promptly sprinted after the Ashdod’s players, who ran for cover into vacant stands or upstairs and out of the stadium

England : Hooligan 'godfather' in football grounds ban - 04/08/2015

Source : http://www.bbc.com

A man dubbed the "godfather" of football hooliganism in Wolverhampton has been banned from all professional grounds in the country.

Gilroy Shaw, 47, was given the Football Banning Order at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Shaw, of Selwyn Road, Bilston, has been a "prominent figure in hooligan circles for almost 30 years," West Midlands Police said.

The order bans Shaw from attending matches for five years.

Wolves supporter Shaw has been banned from its home ground Molineux since 2010 and must also stay outside a five-mile exclusion zone at stadiums involving the club for three hours before and after kick-off.

'Minions throw the punches'

West Midlands Police said it applied for the civil injunction after amassing a "huge backlog of evidence" detailing his involvement in football violence and association with "risk" supporters.

Ch Insp Nick Rowe said: "Shaw is a familiar face at fixtures at home and abroad and tends to be at the centre of disorder, inciting rival fans, threatening violence, and getting involved in mass brawls.

"He has been the number one target for us for some time but in recent years has become almost a godfather figure, organising and instigating violence and then slipping away while his minions throw the punches, hurl the missiles or damage property."

A total of 166 people are currently the subject of Football banning Orders (FBOs) in the West Midlands but most orders are "tagged on to" criminal court convictions, the force said.

Scotland : Three men imprisoned for role in violence before 2014 cup final - 04/08/2015

Source : http://news.stv.tv/

Three football fans have been given prison sentences for their role in football violence before a cup final in Edinburgh.

A fourth man was given a community payback order at Edinburgh Sheriff Court for his role in the disturbances in the Grassmarket area of the city, before the Ramsdens Cup Final between Rangers and Raith Rovers at Easter Road on Sunday 6 April 2014.

Football banning orders ranging from three to ten years were also handed out.

The four men had all previously pled guilty to breach of the peace.

Christopher Kloumann, 41, from Renfrew, was given 160 days imprisonment and a football banning order for ten years.

Greg Buchanan, 41 and Mark John Murray, 25, both from Glasgow, were given prison sentences of 100 days and a football banning order for 3 years.

Alister Galbraith, 29, from Paisley, was handed a community payback order with 180 hours to be completed within six months.

The football banning orders will prohibit Kloumann, Buchanan and Murray from attending all regulated football matches throughout the whole of the United Kingdom for the duration of the order.

Speaking following sentencing, Emma White, Football Liaison Prosecutor for the East of Scotland, said: “Prosecutors will continue to work with the police in tackling football related disorder and offensive behaviour. The rival groups of fans in this case were clearly intent on causing trouble and I hope that the outcome today sends out a strong message that such violent and disorderly conduct is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”

Mass brawl breaks out during football match in Thamesmead

Season 15/16 - August 716033ThamesmeadFC3JPGpwrt3

A large fight, believed to have involved around 50 'football hooligans', broke out during a match at Thamesmead Town FC last night (August 4).

Videos shared on social media filmed by footballers training on the neighbouring pitch show a large group of people clashing before police intervened.

Eyewitnesses claim a group of around 50 people were waiting for Clapton fans to arrive before they stormed the grounds armed with bats, batons and flares.

Both clubs deny any involvement in starting the violence, claiming the fighting was caused by a group of 'far-right supporters'.

In a statement Clapton FC chief executive, Vincent McBean, said: "There was some walking wounded on both sides, cuts to the head from flying debris, but nothing more serious I understand. One Clapton fan went to hospital for treatment as a precaution.

"Thamesmead Town, the club or their fans, were not involved and were very apologetic, and Clapton would like to thank them for all their efforts and the hospitality provided.

"Clapton will be looking at the security of our supporters with the help of the police and other experts.

"Our stance of to welcome everyone regardless of race colour, creed etc will always remain. There is a lot of information on social media regarding last night, some are very concerning, the football family and the authorities must address this."

The east London club's fans the Clapton Ultras, are known for their multicultural, anti-racist stance and vocal support during games which has in the past prompted attacks from far-right groups.

In a statement from the fanbase, a spokesperson said they had received 'threatening messages from a fascist group' prior to the match.

They said: "As we arrived at the game around 15 minutes after kick off and began to enter, Clapton fans were immediately attacked with weapons and missiles by a large group already present inside the ground, who threw glasses, bottles, bricks, signs and a fire extinguisher at Clapton fans, the vast majority of which had not been able to even enter the ground.

"Clapton fans have no history or rivalry with Thamesmead fans and this attack was not made by Thamesmead fans.

"The attackers sang racist chants as they pelted Clapton fans with missiles.

"This was a planned attack, orchestrated by fascists and their allies as a politically motivated assault on Clapton fans for our politics of anti-sexism, anti-homophobia, anti-racism and anti-fascism."

News Shopper has contacted Thamesmead Town for comment.

One eyewitness, who asked not to be named, was at the ground to support her son in the younger team when the commotion kicked off.

She told News Shopper: "We were sitting chatting, as we turned around you could see a swarm of them coming through the car park.

"It was worrying. It was like watching a scene out of Green Street.

"These people that came up, they came up to cause trouble."

Reports indicate Thamesmead Town were playing Clapton in a pre-season friendly when the fight began.

In one video people can be heard chanting racist slurs as they exit the grounds. *** Warning: videos contain offensive language***

A Met Police spokesman confirmed additional officers were called to the area at around 8.10pm when policeman spotted fighting between two groups of people.

He said: "Officers who were on-duty at Thamesmead Town FC on Bayliss Avenue witnessed a group of individuals throw items towards a second group leading to a short period of disorder.

"Officers, including the Territorial Support Group and a police helicopter attended.

"The group was dispersed and a short time later, officers stopped approximately 40 people who had boarded a bus nearby."

"Two people have been treated for head injuries."

Officers currently remain at the scene and enquiries continue.

The game, in which Thamesmead Town were up by two goals, was reportedly abandoned following the brawl as players took shelter inside.

On social media Thamesmead residents reported seeing the Met's helicopter overhead before eyewitnesses to the mass brawl began posting videos.

'Painful' punishment: German judge orders hooligans to buy rival team Bayern's merchandise - 05/08/2015

Source : http://www.firstpost.com/

A German judge ordered two football hooligans who attacked a fan of a rival club and tore off his team gear to take the "painful" step of buying him new Bayern Munich merchandise, media reported Wednesday.

The judge in the southern city of Munich, Karin Jung, told the daily Bild that she presented the defendants, both supporters of the 1860 Munich team, with the choice of replacing the Bayern Munich gear or serving 15 months in jail.

The men chose a shopping trip to the Bayern Munich fan store, a decision that was "really painful", Jung said with satisfaction.

The two defendants, who were accompanied by a third man, accosted the Bayern fan at Munich's main railway station after a match in August 2014 and ripped off his jacket, shirt and straw hat, which were emblazoned with the team's logo.

"The two accused seemed pretty cocky, showed no remorse, did not confess and refused to name the other assailant," Jung said.

"I wanted to show that football is football and not a battlefield," she said, explaining her unusual ruling.

With the consent of the victim, Jung said she went for an eye-for-an-eye judgement.

"I thought about what would be really painful to them, and doing something like this really bothers this type of people," she said.

The defendants' lawyer, Guenter Reisinger, said his clients had apologised to the Bayern fan and paid him 500 euros ($543) each in compensation, in addition to buying a hat, scarf and jersey from the team shop.

The gear was to be handed over to the victim on Wednesday in court.

"They are not the kind of hardcore fans who would rather go behind bars than into a Bayern shop," Reisinger said of the ruling, which Bild called "curious and clever".

'Hooligan' jailed for Cologne mass rampage - 05/08/2015

Source : http://www.thelocal.de

A Cologne judge sentenced a 24-year-old man to three years in prison after convicting him of violent acts during a “Hooligans against Salafists” (HoGeSa) demonstration in October 2014.

“You have a violence problem that you haven't tackled,” the judge told the accused – whom he went on to call an “uncontrollable person” - while explaining the sentence for attempted grievous bodily harm and theft.

The man had previously admitted to throwing a heavy pipe at a line of police officers.

He narrowly missed the officers, but went on to join people looting a bakery and to throw a bottle at another policeman.

The accused said that he had an alcohol problem and was drunk at the time of the offences.

Around 5,000 self-described 'hooligans' and other far-right supporters came together in Cologne in October for a demonstration supposedly directed against Islamic fundementalist Salafists.

But the march descended into running street battles with the police, with rioters injuring dozens of officers before they could be removed from the city centre.

Vitesse Arnhem - Southampton FC - 06/08/2015

Police make 53 arrests before Southampton game

Police made 53 arrests, including three English fans, after supporters clashed before Southampton's Europa League game at Vitesse Arnhem.

Riot police and horses were called to Korenmarkt, the city's bar district, where opposition fans had been drinking together peacefully.

Some onlookers said the incidents came after provocation from supporters of Vitesse's Dutch rivals Feyenoord.

No problems were reported in the Saints fan zone in nearby Jansplaats.

A Southampton spokesperson said: "Southampton Football Club are aware of an incident away from the official fan zone in Arnhem.

"Fifty Dutch fans have been arrested, three English. Visiting fans are being provided with buses to the stadium.

"We are continuing to liaise with local police and will take relevant action against those involved."

Games called off as Dutch season start disrupted by police strike - 07/08/2015

Source : http://www.insideworldfootball.com/

Industrial action by the Dutch police has led to the postponement of five Eredivisie matches at the start of the new season, the Dutch football association KNVB announced on Thursday.

Those matches postponed include the games at ADO Den Haag, Groningen, Heerenveen, Nijmegen and Zwolle which will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday instead, whilst four matches including Feyenoord-Utrecht, games at Roda JC Kerkrade, Feyenoord Rotterdam and Willem II Tilburg AZ–Ajax on Sunday, will proceed as scheduled.

A KNVB statement said: "We wish it would be different for the fans, clubs and everyone else who was looking forward to the start of the season this weekend."

KNVB operations director Gijs de Jong declared: "We had hoped that the labour and police unions would have sat down with the government and worked out a solution. After it became clear that the police would go ahead with their actions, we spoke to the respective mayors and clubs. Our aim was for all fans to see top division action as soon as possible."

The targeting of football matches by the unions, who are negotiating a new collective labour agreement with the government, comes as a disappointment after the police were recently persuaded to drop plans to disrupt the Tour de France as it made its way through the Netherlands.

Fans in The Hague reacted to the disruption under the rallying cry 'No game for us? No strike for them', organising a meeting and drink-in at the Plein at the time the game had originally been scheduled to start, which will presumably require a big police presence and ensure police will not be able to actually go on strike, despite the game against reigning champions PSV Eindhoven not going ahead.

Football thugs in square brawl - 08/08/2015

Source : http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/

A man was arrested after what police described as a confrontation between two groups of drunken football fans in Poulton.

Donald Pill flailed his arms about and shouted at officers: “You can’t make me do anything.”

Pill, 56, of St Peters Street, Preston, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said police were called to a large scale disturbance between two groups of football fans in Market Square, Poulton on July 18 at 10.15pm.

Pill was one of the most vocal of the crowd and was being abusive as officers tried to move one group towards the railway station.

He was arrested after flailing his arms about towards police and being rude to officers.

Last month Pill was convicted of a racially aggravated public order offence and as part of his sentence was put on a Football Banning Order for three years, which prevents him from going to soccer matches.

Pill told the judge that he had gone to Poulton to celebrate his brother’s 50th birthday.

He said they had a fine night out until they went into a pub where some lads were singing.

Pill added: “Then we all got pepper-sprayed.

“I was flailing my arms about because I could not see where I was going.”

Pill was fined £100 with £85 costs and ordered to pay a £150 court charge with £20 victims’ surcharge by District Judge Andrew Jebb sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
