Malaysia: Four Penang football fans charged with rioting - 02/08/2016
Source : http://streets.nst.com.my/
Four Penang football fans pleaded not guilty at the magistrate's court today to participating in a riot last Tuesday. The four, together with several others at large, were jointly charged with committing the offence outside the City Stadium gate against Kedah football fans at 11.30am on July 26. The four are Ruzairi Abd Rahman, 31, Muhammad Fizry Sukor, 21, Shamsuri Aman Rusli Aman, 35, and Muhammad Hafiz Abdullah, 24. The accused were charged with rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code, which carries a punishment of two years jail, or fine, or both upon conviction. Ruzairi, Shamsuri Aman and Hafiz were represented by Mohd Izad Mohd Kamri, while Fizry was represented by R.Shankara. Deputy public prosecutor Noor Azura Zulkiflee proposed bail to be set at RM5,000 each. The two lawyers asked the court to reduce the bail as the four men had financial commitments with their respective families. Magistrate L. Umma Devi set bail at RM2,300 with one surety each and fixed mention on Sept 26 for document submission. The four fans were arrested a day after the incident on July 27.

Following Aberdeen-Maribor: Court date delayed for football fans charged following Dons’ Maribor clash - 02/08/2016
Source : https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk
A group of football fans charged in connection with an alleged fight after a Europa match have had their court appearance delayed.
Sixteen men were expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday, in connection with a disturbance after the Dons’ Uefa Europa League clash with Maribor at Pittodrie on Thursday.
But the case has been knocked back, and will now call on August 25.
On Friday, police swooped on the Holiday Inn Express on Chapel Street, Aberdeen.
The raid happened just hours after officers were called to reports of a disturbance on the street.
Police previously said 13 of those charged were from Eastern Europe, while the other three men are local. They are all aged between 19-41.

Israel indicts 19 right-wing football fans, charges include attempted murder - 07/08/2016
Source : http://www.i24news.tv/
Members of fan club known for anti-Arab sentiments face allegations of violent attacks on rival team's fans
Israel on Sunday indicted 19 members of La Familia, a group of right-wing fans of the Beitar Jerusalem soccer team, of attempted murder.
The supporters, who were arrested last month, faced charges including "attempted murder", "aggravated sabotage", "racist offenses" and "illegal possession of weapons", the police said in a statement.
Some were charged with attempted murder of a rival team's fan in a violent attack. The prosecution stated that surveillance of the suspects revealed that some of them celebrated the attack and planned another group attack, according to the Ynet news site. Nine of them were also charged with "drug trafficking".
The prosecution asked for them to remain in custody until the case is included.
✕The indictment claimed that in October, several of the accused decided to ambush Hapoel tel Aviv fans at a game and arrived bearing baseball bats, wooden boards, stones, and knives – with one suspect brining an iron hammer, which he allegedly used to bash the head of a Hapoel Tel Aviv fan.
Defense attorneys argued that the charges were clearly overblown and an attempt to persecute Beitar Jerusalem fans.
It further declared that La Familia was founded for the purpose of conducting violence and vandalism based on racist, anti-Arab, and anti-Muslim ideology.
The Jerusalem stadium where their club plays is dubbed "Hell" over its climate of hostility towards visiting teams and their supporters. Police regularly have to deploy reinforcements during matches to prevent violence.
On August 18, French club Saint-Etienne will visit the stadium to play Beitar as part of the 2016 Europa League.
Beitar Jerusalem is the only club in the Israeli league that has never had an Arab player.
In 2013, some Beitar supporters were angered by the signing of two Muslim players from Chechnya, forcing the team to hire bodyguards to protect them.
Club offices were later hit by arson that destroyed all the trophies won by the team.

Stoke City fans criticise German Police after being branded hooligans following brawl in Hamburg - 08/08/2016
Source : http://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/
STOKE City fans have criticised German police after being branded 'hooligans' following a 40-man brawl in Hamburg.
Hundreds of Potters supporters had travelled to northern Germany for the club's final pre-season friendly with Bundesliga side Hamburger SV.
Despite going down 1-0 on Saturday, the travelling fans enjoyed their trip until trouble flared in Herbertstrasse later that evening.
City supporters in Hamburg believe the trouble was started by either the home fans or fans of St Pauli – Hamburg's rival team, but a German police appeal the following day labelled them as 'hooligans'.

England: Nuneaton Town FC - FC Halifax Town - 06/08/2016
Source : http://www.halifaxcourier.co.uk/
Stewards attacked by fans at Nuneaton game against FC Halifax Town
Detectives in Nuneaton are appealing to fans who attended last Saturday’s National League North match between Nuneaton and Halifax for information after four stewards were assaulted.
Just after the final whistle had blown at approximately 4.45pm at Liberty Stadium, a man attempted to encroach onto the pitch. As stewards detained the man, they were assaulted by a number of people who also attempted to gain access to the pitch. Four stewards were assaulted, with a 46-year-old, sustaining bruising and bleeding to his nose. The other three did not sustain any injuries. In their attempt to reach the pitch, the group climbed over fencing and in the process caused damage to advertising hoardings. Detective Sergeant David Andrews, who is leading the investigation said: “This was a disappointing end to a competitive match. I am appealing to both sets of supporters to come forward and speak to us about the events that unfolded at last weekend’s match. “The incidents are thought to have been captured on mobile phone footage. These recordings could significantly help our investigation. “Warwickshire Police understand and appreciate the majority of fans who attended the match were there to support their team, not to cause trouble. A small number of fans let their team down with their behaviour at the end of the game.”

Galatasaray ultras injure four Besiktas fans in bus attack
In the latest episode of fan violence marring a showpiece match of Turkish football, four Besiktas supporters have been hospitalised after an assault by Galatasaray rivals.A group of Gala fans had waited on a road 60 kilometers outside of Konya, where the Super Lig and Turkish Cup winners meet on Saturday night for the season-opening final. As reported by Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, the ultras attacked a bus containing Besiktas fans, throwing stones through the windshield and side windows.
These clashes come just days after the Turkish Clubs' Union lifted an away fans ban enacted on the top four clubs in the Eurasian country, as a sign of solidarity in response to the failed military takeover of the national government."As a sign of the common spirit of unity that has come into existence after the July 15 defeated coup, we have decided to abolish the away-match ban in the new season," TCU President Göksel Gümüda announced during the week.

Israel on Sunday charged nineteen members of La Familia, a group of far-right football fans of Beitar Jerusalem, with attempted murder, the police said.
The supporters, who were arrested last month, faced charges including "attempted murder", "aggravated sabotage", "racist offences" and "illegal possession of weapons", the police said in a statement.
They were charged over violence that included attacks on the supporters of rival football teams, it said, adding the prosecutor asked for them to remain in custody until the end of the case against them.

Boy, 13, among fans arrested at St Mirren v Morton match
The teenager was among four males held in connection with disorder and smoke bombs.
A 13-year-old boy was among four male fans arrested over disorder at a St Mirren v Greenock Morton match on Saturday.
The teenager, plus two men aged 20 and a 24-year-old man, were arrested at the game in Paisley, Renfrewshire, for offences including culpable and reckless conduct, threatening and abusive behaviour and obstruction.
Some of the offences relate to the use of smoke bombs at the match, which finished in a 1-1 draw.
Chief inspector Alison Kennedy, the match commander, said: "Persons with pyrotechnics and behaving in an unruly manner within football stadiums will not be tolerated.
"The majority of the supporters from both St Mirren and Morton were there to enjoy the football and behaved impeccably."
Morton director Warren Hawke said: "Greenock Morton Football Club acknowledges and fully appreciates that the behaviour of the vast majority of our fans was impeccable on Saturday at St Mirren.
"We are aware of some incidents and are cooperating fully with Police Scotland with their investigation into the small number of fans whose behaviour fell far short of what we expect.
"Pyrotechnics have no place in football, they are dangerous and illegal.
"Such behaviour by this minority places the club in very real danger of severe sanctions and heavy monetary fines by the football governing bodies as well as increased policing and stewarding costs at our games."
A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Zimbabwe: Highlanders - Chicken Inn - 14/08/2016
Source : http://www.harare24.com/
Hooligans should be stamped out with harsh penalties
Sport and Recreation Minister Makhosini Hlongwane on Monday held a hastily arranged press briefing and ordered Zifa to come hard on soccer hooligans.
Hlongwane suggested banning perpetrators of violence at stadiums.
That was in the wake of disturbances during Highlanders and Chicken Inn encounter on Sunday.
Below is part of his speech:
"The ministry would like to state in categoric terms that hooliganism and other forms of violence have no place in football, in particular, and sport in general as it defeats the very well established axioms of sport, i.e. promoting peace and a culture of tolerance.
"Government takes note of the fact that despite earlier warnings for ZIFA to take action on hooliganism and violence at football matches, the following matters have not been conclusively resolved:
"Violence at the Mutare City Rovers–How Mine match of 8 May 2016 where a ZIFA Councillor invaded the pitch and threatened a match official in full view of the fans and spectators of the game.
"The Dynamos FC - Platinum match of 14 May 2016 has not been conclusively resolved, despite advice by Government and the Sports Commission.
"It is Government's view that the lack of decisive action on these very important matters of football by ZIFA have allowed the culture of violence to continue to breed at football matches.
"The lack of disciplinary action on the ZIFA board member, who invaded the pitch in Mutare and threatened officials is creating an impression that ZIFA itself is sheltering merchants of violence within its structures and promoting a culture of impunity.
"Government is therefore, advising ZIFA to lead by example and to take stern action on all perpetrators of violence in all the cited incidences including the Highlanders–Chicken Inn match.
"Further, Government suggests that hooligans should be banned from attending soccer matches and that the underlying causes of violence at soccer matches should be investigated and dealt with decisively.
"Lastly, Government calls on ZIFA to immediately expedite as it should have done, the process of constituting its committees to raise the level of capacity and skills of officials, for better and professional handling and management of all matches."

Scores of policemen had to be given temporary shelter at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday fleeing football supporters.
A police officer was injured during violent skirmishes after Highlanders and Chicken Inn encounter.
Fans invaded the pitch and attacked armed cops in anger following the arrest and manhandling of a fan from the Soweto stand by the police.
The hooligan had been arrested for throwing missiles onto the pitch and police set a dog on him while beating him with truncheons at the same time. Some fans tried to rescue him and all hell broke loose.
The few police details were clearly losing the battle and started retreating to safety towards the VIP area, as fans closed in on them. The cops kept their distance and allowed tempers to cool down.
The officer-in-charge of Bulawayo West District Chief Superintendent Mthokozisi Manzini-Moyo said the injured officer was out of danger and said some arrests had been made.
"The officer received a cut on his head and was attended to. No serious injuries were reported despite the skirmishes. We have made some arrests and are still continuing with our investigations," said Manzini-Moyo.
