Argentina : Boca hooligans' boss to be moved to Buenos Aires - 26/08/2012

Source : http://www.buenosairesherald.com

The leader of the Boca Juniors hooligans, Mauro Martín, was scheduled to be moved during the night to a hospital in the Buenos Aires City after remaining “in delicate condition” in a Rosario hospital as a result of a gunshot wound to the stomach during a confrontation with an opposing faction of his group.
Pietro Belletich, the director of the Provincial Hospital in Rosario where Martín underwent surgery, informed that he is in a condition to be moved but did not reveal where he would be taken to.
“The judge and the medical team have cleared him to be taken to a clinic in Buenos Aires,” the doctor indicated.
On Sunday afternoon, Belletich had issued a press release indicating that his condition was “delicate but stable.”
The 35-year-old hooligan was hospitalized on Saturday afternoon while Boca Juniors was playing against Unión de Santa Fe.
Doctors said he had lost “a lot of blood, very fast.”
The rest of the injured are Cristian Debaus, who was shot in the mouth; Brian Arroyo (19), shot in the chest; and Juan González (26). They all remain stable and hospitalized in Santa Fe province.

Soccer fan arrested for tweet - 26/08/2012

Source : http://www.sport24.co.za

A man has been arrested in connection with racist Twitter messages sent to West Ham United footballer Carlton Cole, Essex Police confirmed on Sunday.

The 22-year-old man from Southend, Essex, wrote two posts on Saturday following West Ham's 3-0 Premier League defeat at Swansea City.

The tweets questioned Cole's performance and used a racist term to describe him. The 28-year-old forward retweeted the comments from his @CarltonCole1 account.

Essex Police said on their own Twitter account: "Police have arrested a 22 year old from Southend following tweets to @carltoncole1. Investigation ongoing."

An Essex police spokesperson told Reuters: "The man has been arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence following tweets sent to Carlton Cole."

CSKA Sofia - Lokomotiv Plovdiv - 26/08/2012

Source : mail (thanks to the sender) - Loko view

We had great expectations for this game after we smashed Cska in our last meeting at 40x40 a few months ago.
So the firm was ready to have a go again. Unfortunatelly Cska seemed not to be interested in a prearragened fight so about 30 cars and a minivan made its way to the neautral venue of Sliven where the game was played.
The motorways from Plovdiv and Sofia join at some point to reach Sliven so we knew it was a great chance to meet them. So it happened. Some of the cars who were leading our firm were ahead of the rest by a few miles and they saw a few cska cars at a petrol station but police was there so one of our lads went to them to offer to go to a side road and have it there but Cska declined and said that they wanted it in the town which was a pity excuse really. Everyone knew the town would be full of police so not much of a chance something to happen there.
We took a short cut at some point and about 10 cars stopped a few miles before Sliven and waited there to see what would happen as we knew it was the only way to enter the town if you come from Sofia.
In about 20 minutes we saw them, about 8 cars with their boys. We all ran on the road and thought it would kick off big time but for our suprise not one of the cars stopped and they nearly ran over some of our lads.
All we managed to do was to smash some of the windows and damage the cars while they were swearving between the people on the road.
Very dissapinting really as this game was a great chance to have lots of fun as the local police didn't realy have ideas how to handle the situation.

Brazil issue warning to hooligans - 27/08/2012

Source : http://www.supersport.com

With 10 months to go to the Confederations Cup and as the countdown starts to the 2014 World Cup, Brazilian officials said on Monday that they will not tolerate fan violence.

The country, which lasted hosted the World Cup in 1950, is setting up a specialist police investigation centre to deal with cases of hooliganism, secretary for security affairs for Rio state, Jose Mariano Beltrame, told reporters, adding it would be based in the swish suburb of Leblon.

The news came on the heels of several outbreaks of fan violence at club level, with 21 knuckle duster-wielding fans of Fluminense arrested on Sunday for attacking two fans of another local side, Vasco da Gama.

"We can no longer tolarate violence ... this is not an example of (the image) we wish to project at the World Cup. We must act with rigour," Marta Rocha of the civil police authority told O Dia daily.

The mother of one of those arrested told reporters: "I am ashamed of my son."

Police lieutenant-colonel Joao Fiorentini explained that the 21 had been thrown in the cells as "quite apart from the assault, there was theft and that is why they have been locked up. We are tightening the noose."

Leaders of the 'Young Flu' supporters club said those responsible faced being thrown out of the club.

Last week, a Vasco fan, Diego Leal, was killed by thugs supporting Flamengo and last April a Flamengo fan, Bruno Saturnino, was beaten to death by rivals from Vasco.

Also last week, the civil police authority asked the judicial prosecutor general's office to ban Flamengo fans from Rio stadiums.

Argentina: CFK urges football clubs to 'turn in' lists detailing hooligans' identities - 27/08/2012

Source : http://www.buenosairesherald.com

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner urged football clubs affiliated to the AFA to “turn in to the authorities” their lists detailing the names of the hooligans attending matches on a regular basis in order to increase security outside the stadiums.
“Clubs must turn in the lists,” she said while being asked for the recent episodes involving hooligan violence this weekend.
“There are mafias everywhere and we need to fight them all,” she said, adding she was sent “a New York Time article detailing that mobsters are engaged in money laundering activities in the world’s largest banks.”
The Head of State made these statements while leaving a ceremony she attended in the Tecnópolis science and technology theme park in Villa Martelli.
The President, however, asked not to brand all football fans as violent, after indicating that “whenever something happens in the football world we go crazy.”

Argentina: Boca president takes distance from incidents between hooligans - 27/08/2012

Source : http://m24digital.com

Boca’s president Daniel Angelici broke away from the hooligans incidents staged on the route between Santa Fe and Rosario near the town of San Lorenzo, on the weekend.
“You can not blame a leader of a club for what happens on a national highway. We take care of what happens in the door in,” Angelici said on the radio.
But the coach admitted, “This was foretold since Di Zeo left Courts where they would kill the traitors, referring to the other side of the hooligans.”
The other party is led by Mauro Martin, who was shot in the abdomen in the fighting and is in a very delicate state. In the last hours he was transferred from Rosario to Buenos Aires.
Angelici added, moreover, that “to eject violent people form football, makes political will, as authorities have done in serious countries”. But in a kind of contradiction then said that there will be restrictions on the right of admission, because “no evidence of what happened.”

Brazil won't put up with soccer hooligans anymore - 27/08/2012

Source : http://www.alaskadispatch.com

Brazilian officials have said they will no longer tolerate hooliganism at soccer matches and are clamping down on fan violence as the World Cup draws nearer.

The announcement came after serious incidents of violence in both Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo between rival-team supporters, according to Xinhua.

Twenty-one Fluminense fans were arrested on Sunday for attacking two Vasco da Gama fans, reported Agence France-Presse. Earlier last week, Vasco fan Diego Leal was killed by rivals from Flamengo, and Flamengo fan Bruno Saturnino was beaten to death in April by Vasco supporters. Civil police also asked the judicial prosecutor general's office last week to ban Flamengo fans from Rio stadiums.

"We can no longer tolerate violence... this is not an example of (the image) we wish to project at the World Cup. We must act with rigor," Marta Rocha of the civil police authority told AFP.

The mother of one of the 21 arrested Sunday also reportedly said: "I am ashamed of my son."

According to Xinhua, the Brazilian cities of Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Recife and Salvador will host next year's Confederations Cup, known as FIFA's dress rehearsal for the World Cup, which takes place the following year. With both events bringing a massive number of tourists to Brazil, the country's government said it wants to ensure visitors will be able to attend soccer matches in a peaceful environment.

PAOK Salonika, Rapid hit with suspended bans - 28/08/2012

Source : http://nouvelobs.com

PAOK Salonika and Rapid Vienna were hit with suspended one-season bans by UEFA on Tuesday after crowd violence before a Europa League playoff match.
PAOK won the first leg 2-1 last week after clashes between rival fans during the warm-up. The return leg is on Thursday in Vienna.
PAOK will have to play their next three European home matches behind closed doors and have been fined 150,000 euros (120,314 pounds). Rapid have been fined 75,000 euros and will have to play their following European home game behind closed doors.
"This punishment does not apply to the UEFA Europa League play-off second leg between Rapid and PAOK in Vienna on Thursday 30 August," said UEFA.
The bans are suspended for three years and allow the winner of the playoff to continue in this season's Europa League.
But either of the teams will be suspended immediately should any similar incidents occur within the three-year timeframe.
"The Greek and Austrian clubs have been disqualified for one competition in progress and/or excluded from the next competition for which they qualify in the next five years," said UEFA.
"The bans for the two clubs are each suspended for probationary periods of three years."
Dozens of PAOK fans spilled on to the pitch at the Toumba Stadium after flares were thrown by Rapid fans. Rapid said their fans were subjected to "almost unimaginable hatred" at the game.
Both clubs have the right to appeal and PAOK spokesman Kiriakos Kiriakos said the club intended to do so.
PAOK were charged with "the improper conduct of supporters - crowd disturbances, pitch invasion, setting off and throwing of missiles and fireworks - and insufficient organisation".
Rapid were charged with "improper conduct of supporters - crowd disturbances and setting off and throwing of fireworks and missiles".

Source : http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com

Dortmund vows zero tolerance for neo-Nazis

Borussia Dortmund says it won't tolerate any racist incidents at its stadium after a fan held up a banner supporting a recently banned neo-Nazi group at the two-time defending Bundesliga champion's opening match of the new season.
Managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke says the club will work closely with police and "use all means available'' to prevent a reoccurrence of such acts, vowing to pursue a "zero tolerance'' policy.
Police say the 27-year-old fan who brought the banner to Friday's match is known as a neo-Nazi. Prosecutors are investigating whether to bring charges.
