Bulgaria : Levski Sofia - Botev Plovdiv - 19/08/2012

De Carvalho ponders Levski future after racial abuse
Basile de Carvalho is considering his future at Bulgaria's Levski Sofia after the Guinea Bissau striker was racially abused by home fans and stewards after a league match against Botev Plovdiv on Sunday.
The 30-year-old was instrumental in the side's 3-1 victory but was targeted by a section of Levski fans, who directed racial chants, made monkey noises and threw a banana at him after the game at the Georgi Asparuhov stadium.
The striker and his team mates were on a lap of honour when De Carvalho reacted angrily to the racial abuse, sparking a melee in which one steward tried to attack the player before police restored order.
De Carvalho, who joined Levski from Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the off-season, refused to talk to reporters following the incident.
Levski were not available to comment but local media reported that the striker told several team mates he would consider leaving the 26-times Bulgarian champions.
The Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) have stepped up efforts to eliminate racism but several ugly incidents in the Balkan country over the last few years have checked their progress.
In 2005, CSKA Sofia supporters were heard aiming monkey noises at Liverpool's French striker Djibril Cisse during a Champions League match.
Last year, the English FA complained of racist chanting during England's 3-0 win in a Euro 2012 qualifier at the Vasil Levski stadium with Europe's governing body UEFA imposing a 40,000 euros ($49,200) fine on the BFU for the incident.
The second weekend of the Bulgarian league season also attracted negative attention when Minyor Pernik fans physically assaulted Lokomotiv Sofia's chief executive Georgi Markov on Saturday.

Two football fans charged with sectarian chanting at Rangers match - 21/08/2012
Source : http://news.stv.tv
Two men have been charged in connection with sectarian chanting during a Rangers match earlier this month.
The pair were arrested on Monday over the incident at the Third Division game between Peterhead and the Glasgow club at Balmoor Stadium on August 11.
A joint operation by Northern Constabulary and Strathclyde Police, assisted by Grampian Police and the police's Football Coordination Unit for Scotland, led to the arrests.
One of the men, aged 19 and from the Northern Constabulary force area, appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court on Monday.
The second arrest, a 22-year-old man from the Strathclyde Police force area, is expected to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
Grampian Police Inspector Andy Imray said: "Today's action send a clear message to the small minority of people intent on using football as an excuse to commit acts of disorder that behaviour of this type will not be tolerated.
"Offensive sectarian chanting or football disorder in any shape or form is totally unacceptable. We are not going to compromise on safety at the ground or outside on a match day and have proved that where we need to be visible and take action, we will do exactly that."

Police Probe Disturbance at CSKA Hotel - AIK
Swedish police launched an investigation Thursday after fans of Stockholm side AIK did their best Thursday to disturb CSKA Moscow before a crucial match, with the Swedes making noise and setting off flares outside the Russian team's hotel, AIK said Thursday. CSKA are in Stockholm to face AIK on Thursday in their Europa League playoff first-leg match. Video of the incident, labeled "CSKA Moscow, good morning" shows a crowd whistling, sounding car horns and setting off fireworks and flares in front of the hotel shortly after 4 a.m. local time. CSKA's Swedish midfielder Pontus Wernbloom told the local Aftonbladet newspaper that the team "woke up, but there was no danger." AIK denied involvement and condemned the incident. "At the moment we do not know who the people responsible for these actions are, but a police investigation has been started," a statement on the team website said. "Moreover, AIK has set up an internal investigation to find out what AIK could have done to prevent things like this from happening. According to UEFA rules, AIK is responsible for the opposing team's safety."

Australia : Sydney FC - Western Sydney Wanderers - 22/08/2012
Police clash with football fans at Sydney United v Western Sydney Wanderers match
One spectator was arrested and 13 were ejected from a preseason football match on Wednesday between new A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney United, which plays in the New South Wales Premier League.
Police said Thursday that the incident, the second involving fan violence in 10 days in western Sydney, began when a firecracker was thrown into the crowd at Edensor Park. Police were forced to use pepper spray after a group of about 60 spectators reacted to the arrest of the man who threw it.
A 27-year-old man was charged with assaulting police and resisting arrest and will appear in court in September.
Sydney United beat the A-League side 2-1.
In another preseason game Aug. 14 between A-League club Sydney FC and NSW League side Macarthur Rams, a man was knocked out and a 6-year-old boy was hit in the head by a rock during a disturbance at Campbelltown Stadium after a flare was thrown into the crowd.
Later Thursday, Football Federation Australia said both men involved in the incidents would be banned from attending A-League or Australian internationals for five years.
''The troublemakers who bring the game into disrepute with their reckless behavior have no place in the game,'' said FFA chief Ben Buckley. ''The incidents at Campbelltown and Edensor Park over the past week were the work of a few idiots who wanted to cause trouble.''

Australie : Fans banned for 5 years after violence - 23/08/2012
Source : www.thestandard.com
Two men who lit flares and fireworks at preseason soccer matches in Sydney which led to violence in the stands have been handed five-year bans from all games in Australia, the FFA said on Thursday, Reuters reports. Police used pepper spray to quell supporters at Edensor Park on Wednesday after a firework was thrown into the crowd at the Western Sydney Warriors trial match against Sydney United. That followed trouble at a trial match between Sydney FC and the Macarthur Rams at Campbelltown Stadium on Aug. 14, where a child was hit by a rock after trouble followed the lighting of a flare. "The troublemakers who bring the game into disrepute with their reckless behaviour have no place in the game,'' outgoing Football Federation of Australia CEO Ben Buckley said in a statement. "The incidents at Campbelltown and Edensor Park over the past week were the work of a few idiots who wanted to cause trouble.'' A third man was to be banned after the incidents at Edensor Park, the FFA said, with New South Wales Police indicating further investigations would take place.
