England : Police make more arrests after Terminus Terrace disorder - 05/04/2023
Source : https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/
POLICE have arrested a further 12 people after a fight broke out following Saints's clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
Fans threw chairs, glasses and tables at each other during the incident just after 6pm on Saturday, March 18.
Traffic was forced to drive around the two sets of supporters as those involved moved into the road on Terminus Terrace, near its junction with Oxford Street.
But now officers have confirmed that they have arrested 12 people on suspicion of violent disorder.
The 12 hooligans, aged 16 to 45, have all been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
Chief Inspector Stuart Ratcliffe, who oversaw the arrests, said: "The vast majority of those attending football are there to do just that and want no involvement in any disorder.
"However, there is a small minority who seek to use it as an occasion to commit crime, and we will not tolerate this.
"Our arrests today come following some extremely hard work from our officers, and we will continue to work to identify and arrest anyone involved in this incident."
The arrests follow the ten made after the incident occurred. Each of those men remain on conditional bail while enquiries continue.

Italy : Lazio sentenced for anti-Jewish songs - 04/04/2023
Source: https://www.lefigaro.fr/
The Roman club was sentenced on Tuesday to a suspended partial closure of its stadium for anti-Semitic chants sung by the ultras during the derby against AS Roma in March.
Lazio Rome was sanctioned on Tuesday with a suspended partial closure of the Stadio Olimpico after the anti-Semitic chants sung by tifosi during the derby against AS Roma in March.
The closure for a match of the north corner, that of the “ultras” laziali, was suspended for one year to take into account the “collaborative behavior” of Lazio to “help law enforcement to identify the responsible and to prevent the repetition of these despicable acts”, specified the Italian League of Serie A in its statement of decisions.
Nazi references
The day after the derby in the capital, played on March 19, the president of the Jewish community of Rome, Ruth Dureghello, had broadcast videos of Lazio supporters resuming anti-Semitic songs for the attention of Roma tifosi. She had also relayed a photo of a person in the stands wearing a flocked jersey named "Hitlerson" with the number 88, used in the neo-Nazi movement to mean "Heil Hitler".
In the following days, Lazio condemned these chants and issued a “lifetime” stadium ban against three people, including the supporter, of German nationality, photographed with the shirt in question.
In January, the Olimpico's north bend had already been closed for one match after racist cries launched by Lazio "ultras" during a trip to Lecce against black players Samuel Umtiti and Lameck Banda.
In the event of a recurrence within a year, the League specifies that the suspension will be lifted and that this partial closure will be added to any other possible measure.

Italy: AS Roma also condemned - 04/04/2023
Source: https://www.lefigaro.fr/
AS Roma was fined 8,000 euros on Tuesday for the “insulting song” of some of its supporters against the Serbian coach of Sampdoria Genoa Dejan Stankovic.
"I'm proud to be a gypsy, no one can offend me by calling me a gypsy," Stankovic reacted after the match won by Roma (3-0), while thanking Mourinho for intervening.
The Italian League specifies that, in this case too, the sanction was "attenuated" because this chant was not repeated after the intervention of the Roma coach.

Netherlands: Risky football matches should be played in empty stadiums - 07/04/2023
Source: https://nltimes.nl/
Police union ACP wants to ban all spectators from high-risk football matches. Play these football matches in empty stadiums. The number of incidents in Dutch professional football is increasing, so a tougher approach is needed against hooligans, ACP chairman Wim Groeneweg said to NU.nl.
“The police are already under heavy pressure, and this kind of idiotic behavior only increases the pressure,” Groeneweg said the day after supporters set off heavy fireworks and threw a lighter at Ajax player Davy Klaassen’s head during a match against Feyenoord in De Kuip in Rotterdam.
“If football matches like this become a habit, the good supporters will have to suffer under the bad. That means that in our opinion - in order to keep the police capacity a bit manageable - in some cases, we should no longer allow away supporters in,” Groeneweg said.
In exceptional cases, the stadium should be completely empty, he said. “A risk analysis must be made per match. And if that analysis with the police chief and Public Prosecution Service shows that there are a lot of risks, we must be able to ensure that there are no supporters at all at those matches. That is apparently the only thing that works with these guys.”
The current agreements between football clubs and the KNVB are insufficient, Groenewg said. “Mainly because those agreements cannot be complied with. Look at the United Kingdom; they have made strict agreements there. The difference with the Netherlands is that the agreements are also complied with there.”
Groeneweg wants the permit system reconsidered. “A continuous event permit has now been issued. Football matches are paid for by the municipality. I think there should not be a continuous permit but that a permit should be issued per match. This way, the mayor can make an assessment per match. If all goes well, the reward may be a longer permit. But in the first instance, I would say in a large number of cases that an event permit must be issued per match.”
According to the police union, that would force football clubs to consider the measures they’re taking in relation to the actual situation. “And then it becomes clear who should take what responsibility. Because now it is all automatically placed on the police’s plate. That is much too easy, and that is not possible.”

Twenty-two people have been arrested for throwing objects and setting off fireworks following Ajax Amsterdam’s 2-1 Dutch cup semi-final win at Feyenoord on Wednesday.
Ajax’s Davy Klaassen suffered a head injury when he was hit by an object thrown from the stands, causing a lengthy delay as players from both teams walked off the pitch. The match started five minutes late due to smoke from fireworks lit by Feyenoord supporters. It had to be stopped 21 seconds after kickoff to allow the heavy black smoke to clear. Feyenoord said they decided to partially close a section of Feyenoord Stadium for the home match against AS Roma in the Europa League quarter-final on April 13. Earlier it was decided that there will no away fans at both legs of the quarter-final, after a decision by UEFA followed the Italian authorities’ ban on Dutch supporters. The Dutch football association (KNVB) said it would introduce stricter measures on Thursday. The referee will automatically stop a match if objects are thrown onto the field from the stands or if a fan invades the pitch. If an object hits any player or the referee, the match will be terminated.
“With these steps, potential perpetrators will hopefully no longer dream of attacking the main players on the field. We’re done with that,” KNVB director of professional football Marianne van Leeuwen said. “The field is sacred. The players and everyone else on the field must be able to do their job safely at all times.”

Netherlands : Police release Feyenoord fan who threw object at Ajax footballer; Banned from all stadiums - 07/04/2023
Source : https://nltimes.nl/
The 32-year-old man accused of throwing an object that struck Ajax midfielder Davy Klaassen in the head was released from custody, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) said on Friday. He has been banned from all stadiums in the Netherlands when a professional football match is to be played there. He is prohibited from being in a stadium from two hours before the start of a match to two hours after a match ends.
He was one of the 22 people arrested around the match on Wednesday. Including the Roelofarendsveen man, three suspects were still in police custody on Friday morning. The rest were sent away, the police said.
The other people who were still in custody are suspected of involvement in fights. The people who have been released may still have to face a court hearing later, the police said.
The detainees are suspected of various matters, including assault, insult or defamation, discrimination, throwing fireworks, throwing other objects and failure to show proof of identification.
Feyenoord previously said it identified 25 spectators who took part in the violence and misbehavior during the Dutch Cup semifinal match at De Kuip in Rotterdam. Three of them violated the house rules of the Rotterdam club, but have not been arrested. It is not yet clear whether any or all of them will be banned from the football stadium.
Immediately after kick-off, the semifinal match was stopped because fireworks, flares and smoke bombs were ignited behind one of the goals, shrouding entire sections of the stadium in thick black smoke. Beer cups and lighters were also thrown during the match.
