Police arrests in Turkey after clashes during a football match - 06/03/2023
Source : https://7sport.net/
Turkish police arrested seven people after violence erupted at a soccer match in the city of Bursa against a team from the mainly Kurdish city of Diyarbakir, authorities said.
After the scenes, pro-Kurdish party said officials should resign over the “open racism” at the game.
Videos showed players of Amedspor being pelted with water bottles and sharp objects like small knives on the pitch, while fans chanted Turkish nationalist and anti-Kurdish slogans.
The governor’s office in northwest Turkey’s Bursa province informed three public officials were removed from their posts pending an investigation into events at Sunday’s match between Bursapor and Diyarbakir’s Amedspor.
It said prosecutors had launched proceedings against those involved in an assault in the changing rooms after the match and those involved in unfurling banners during the match. So far seven people have been detained, it added.

Chelsea fans risk arrest as police rush to stop flares outside stadium before Dortmund clash
Potter has been keen to whip up an atmosphere ahead of a match that represents a final chance of silverware, though fans have been warned in a club statement of a “zero tolerance” approach to flares.
Around a dozen supporters used pyrotechnics outside the stadium, sparking a response from police on horseback as they risked arrest. Stewards working for the club rushed to stop those on Fulham Road with flares from entering the stadium.

Italian FA Probe Anti-Semitic Chants From Lazio Fans - 08/03/2023
Source : https://www.barrons.com/
Italy's Football Federation (FIGC) has launched an investigation into anti-Semitic chants sung by Lazio fans before their team's win at Napoli, a governing body source told AFP on Wednesday.
The FIGC said they had launched the probe into the chants sung by a group of around 100 supporters behind the away section at the Stadio Maradona on Friday "and not heard in the stands during the match" by on-site officials.
A video showing Lazio fans singing the song in the presence of stewards and police went viral on social media in the aftermath of a 1-0 win in Naples.
In it, they proudly call themselves racist and insult supporters of local rivals Roma by saying their fathers were deported to Nazi concentration camps.
On Tuesday the FIGC had announced they were investigating unspecified chants directed at Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
The incident is the latest in a litany involving Lazio's hardcore fans, some of the most right wing in a country where fascist fan groups are a widespread phenomenon.
In January, authorities ordered the closure of the Curva Nord section of the Stadio Olimpico, where Lazio's hardcore fans stand, for one match following racist chants at Lecce which left France international Samuel Umtiti in tears.
Last season the handler of Lazio's eagle mascot praised dictators Benito Mussolini and Francisco Franco after being suspended by the club for performing a fascist salute at the end of a match.

Bayern fined for offensive banner, crowd disturbances in PSG win - 08/03/2023
Source : https://www.channelnewsasia.com/
Bayern Munich have been fined 44,750 euros after their fans unfurled an offensive banner and caused disturbances during their Champions League match against Paris St Germain last month, European soccer's governing body UEFA said on Wednesday.
Bayern beat PSG 1-0 at Parc de Princes in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie where the German club's supporters displayed a banner that contained an expletive in a protest against high ticket prices for the match.
UEFA rules prohibit "provocative messages that are of a political, ideological, religious or offensive nature."
Bayern were also fined for crowd disturbances after masked supporters were seen clashing with the police and for letting off pyrotechnics.

Bayern fans protest against Qatar with a Hoeneß poster
Before the round of 16 second leg in the Champions League the criticism of Honorary President Uli Hoeneß against Paris Saint-Germain was taken up martially. “Our butcher slaughters the long arm of Qatar,” read a banner in French on Wednesday evening. There was also an image of Hoeneß with his middle finger raised and a cleaver in hand over a severed arm bearing the PSG and Qatar Airways logos.
The 71-year-old Hoeneß, himself a butcher’s son, recently described the French club financed from Qatar as a “total counterpart” to his Bayern Munich. “On Wednesday we’re dealing with a club where money doesn’t matter. They can buy everything – and lose against us,” he teased as a talk guest at an event Evening News in Munich.
Qatar Airways, Qatar’s state airline, has been a sponsor of FC Bayern since the summer of 2018. The deal with the airline as sleeve sponsor expires this year. It is still unclear whether the sponsorship will be extended. Many fans of FC Bayern are very critical of the financially lucrative cooperation with the airline.

Hooligan who punched Sevilla goalkeeper jailed for 2 months - 09/03/2023
Source : https://eu.usatoday.com/
A football hooligan who ran onto the field during PSV Eindhoven's Europa League match against Sevilla and in the face was sentenced Wednesday to two months in prison.
The 20-year-old, who was identified as Dylano K. in line with Dutch privacy guidelines, was convicted of assaulting goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic and breaching a stadium ban imposed by national soccer federation the KNVB. Local authorities had also had banned him from the area around the PSV stadium.
Prosecutors said last month he had two previous convictions for soccer-related offenses and was under the influence of alcohol when he ran onto the field late in the match on Feb. 23 and punched Dmitrovic. The goalkeeper was not injured and wrestled the hooligan to the ground before stewards marched him off the pitch.
UEFA opened a disciplinary case against PSV following the pitch invasion and the club is likely to be sanctioned by European football's governing body.
In addition to the two months behind bars, the man was sentenced to a further one-month prison term he would have to serve if he re-offends. In passing sentence, the judge took into account the fact that K. was fired from his job after the incident and kicked out of his supporters' club.

Four Real Betis fans were arrested following violent disturbances during Thursday night’s Europa League tie at Old Trafford, Greater Manchester Police have confirmed.
Officers in riot gear went into the away section to restore order towards the end of Manchester United’s 4-1 win over the Spanish club after objects, including a seat, were hurled at United fans and one policeman was hurt by a firework.
Some of the 50-strong group of Betis supporters were also seen taking off their belts to use them as weapons.
A statement from GMP read: ‘Around 3,600 visiting fans attended the fixture last night at Old Trafford, with the vast majority of supporters being very respectful and well behaved in the lead up to and during the game.

Football fans clash outside Edinburgh train station following cup match
Hearts and Celtic hooligans fighting outside an Edinburgh train station have been shared on social media.
The brawl between the two sets of opposing fans is understood to have taken place at Haymarket Station shortly after Hearts were defeated 3-0 by Celtic at Tynecastle on Saturday March 11.
Pictures show one man lying on the ground in a black jacket after suffering a suspected blow from a rival fan.
A number of supporters in green can be seen facing off with what is suspected to be Hearts fans on the road in front of the Haymarket tram stops.
The large crowd looks to have caused quite the commotion outside of the well used station on Saturday afternoon.
Police Scotland confirmed that the British Transport Police were on the scene trying to calm tensions and halt the clashes.
Tensions seem to have boiled over after a weak performance from Edinburgh side Hearts who were brushed aside by a seemingly unstoppable Glasgow Celtic side.

Angers fans burn goal net in 2-0 loss to Toulouse
Angers fans burned part of the goal net in a 2-0 home defeat to Toulouse in the French league on Sunday, forcing the game to be briefly suspended for repairs.
After Toulouse striker Thijs Dallinga doubled the visitors’ lead in the 47th, some Angers supporters set off fireworks behind home keeper Paul Bernardoni’s goal, burning the back of the net.
Bottom-side Angers could face sanctions by the French league’s disciplinary commission for the incident.
This has been a rocky week for Angers after coach Abdel Bouhazama resigned on Tuesday after making sexist comments.
Dozens of fans gathered in front of the stadium before Sunday’s game to call for the resignation of club president Said Chabane, who is facing sexual assault accusations.
