The punishment, after unrest in the quarterfinals against Greek club PAOK, will also see Marseille fined €80,000 for the lighting of fireworks, throwing of objects and crowd disturbances, and a further €18,000 for blocking public passageways.

Violence by Marseille fans led to UEFA ordering the French club on Tuesday to close part of its stadium for the Europa Conference League semifinal against Feyenoord.

The punishment, after unrest in the quarterfinals against Greek club PAOK, will also see Marseille fined €80,000 ($86,000) for the lighting of fireworks, throwing of objects and crowd disturbances, and a further €18,000 for blocking public passageways.

A 13,000-capacity stand where some of Marseille's most intense fans sit behind a goal will have to be empty for the semifinal, second leg in France on May 5 against Feyenoord.

The fallout from the quarterfinal first-leg unrest in Europe's new third-tier competition will also see PAOK having to pay Marseille within 30 days for the damage caused by its own supporters earlier this month.

UEFA fined PAOK €50,000 and decided the Greek club will be banned from selling tickets to its fans for an away match in Europe if there is further potential disorder by them in the next two years.

Hereford road blocked as football fans clash after Telford game



A ROAD in Hereford was blocked as football fans appeared to clash after a match at Edgar Street.

Hereford FC played against AFC Telford United at Edgar Street which looked to boost their play-off hopes with a second win in 10 matches.

But after Hereford beat Telford 1-0 fans visiting from the neighbouring town caused a ruckus in the city’s streets.

A video shows a group of Telford fans in the middle of the road in Widemarsh Street while they shouted abuse at Hereford fans.

The game between Nancy and Quevilly-Rouen was stopped in the 40th minute of play while the Lorraine club, virtually in National, was largely led by QRM (0-3), this Friday evening. Some of the supporters, positioned behind Quevilly’s goal, then cracked smoke bombs and threw projectiles on the lawn, forcing the referee to interrupt the match for a few minutes for the first time. Many Nancy supporters had, moreover, come to the stadium dressed in black to mourn their club. A decision on the outcome of the meeting should be taken by the authorities in the coming hours.

Fans of Salisbury club Laverstock & Ford damaged perimeter fencing, let off flares and knocked an elderly steward to the ground during yesterday’s (Saturday’s) play-off final against Newport IW FC at Smallbrook.

Around 150 supporters of Laverstock & Ford attended Saturday’s play off final in a crowd of 500.

A police presence had been requested before the game, which is very unusual for a football match staged on the Isle of Wight. As a result, Laverstock supporters were escorted by police vehicles to Smallbrook Stadium, where officers had a visible presence before the game.

Police officers had left the ground when trouble fared in the 1st half when Laverstock supporters advanced aggressively towards Newport fans in the main stand, leading to a retired steward being knocked off his feet. At this point, the stadium announcer called for the police presence to return to the stadium.

Longstanding Newport fan and former Isle of Wight Ladies player Hannah Randall, who was present at the game.

At the final whistle, a group of Laverstock fans badly damaged fencing when running onto the pitch. On 3 occasions pyrotechnics were thrown onto the pitch by the travelling support.

Around 12 officers attended the game in 5 police cars and 1 unmarked vehicle. A police van was also present to detain offenders if required. However, it is not believed that any arrests were made.

The control of Ajax supporters' buses degenerated with the police. Two buses carrying around 100 fans were sent back to Amsterdam.

At the stadium, there were also 22 arrests (11 from each club) over incidents. Two people were injured.

On Sunday, two hundred Lyon ultras tried to block the OL bus before the game. The latter gathered in front of the players' hotel in Genas to set up two roadblocks, using tires and pallet fires. They also stoned the Gones bus, which was finally able to reach Groupama Stadium following the intervention of the police.

A 38-year-old supporter was arrested by the police.

We come to Waalwijk with 80 boys to support them against relegation (Beveren X Waalwijk Fanatics). The suckers of EBC and Waalwijk youth were already difficult last year because we were there. During halftime we overheard that they were trying to steal our BYF flag that we had hung. During halftime one of us got a headbutt. We went to get a story from them and then this arose. Even if this is only a fairly short piece. It started at the end of the first half and we were on our bus by the 80th minute after being sent out with police escort. As you saw in the video, they just get beaten in their own city, in their own stadium.

A small group of 12 attacked them 1 hour after their game, when they had time to gather their own. When we arrived they immediately ran inside. We decided to make some videos as proof when a small group of locals decided to attack us. After a few minutes their numbers started to grow. We had two hard confrontations before we had to run from the police. A big win for LIER!
