Germany : German club sacks captain for displaying neo-Nazi sympathy - 06/08/2019
Source : https://edition.cnn.com/
German football team FC Chemnitzer said it has sacked captain Daniel Frahn for displaying sympathy toward neo-Nazis during a league match.
Frahn, who joined the third-tier side in 2016, was unable to play Saturday's game against Hallescher due to injury but chose instead to watch the match from the stands. He was seated with a group of far-right fans and, according to the club, was clearly seen to display sympathy for the supporters -- a move that "caused great damage to the club."
Striker and captain Frahn, who previously played for top-tier side RB Leipzig, had earlier this year been fined for paying tribute to far-right activist and renowned club hooligan, the late Tommy Haller. After scoring a goal, he celebrated by holding up a black T-shirt that read "support your local hools [hooligans]".
Romy Polster, deputy chairman of the club's shareholders' meeting, said that "it was the wrong decision to continue to trust" its player after the incident in March, and that the regret he showed for his actions back then was "a farce."
Polster added that the player "could not and did not want to take responsibility as a player and team captain of the football club. There's one thing more important than just scoring goals and cheering: attitude."
Chemnitzer, which earned promotion to the third tier of German football last season, is currently one place off the bottom of the table after four games and is also battling crippling debts.
The eastern city of Chemnitz is a renowned site of far-right violence.
After a surge of white supremacist activity last year, German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Chemnitz, denouncing those who "spread hatred and incitement."

Lazio : Feared leader of Lazio Ultras football hooligan firm shot dead in ‘execution-style assassination’ in Rome - 07/08/2019
Source : https://www.thesun.co.uk/
Fabrizio Piscitelli - who went by the nickname Diabolik - was shot in the head in a park in broad daylight on Wednesday, local media said.
He was gunned down from behind in the Acqueduc park in the Roman suburb of Cinecitta, La Gazetta reports.
Piscitelli was linked to drug trafficking and local reports suggest his killing may have been a revenge attack carried out by rivals.
The Lazio Ultras - who for home games pack out the northern stand of Rome's Olympic Stadium - are known for their fanatical passion and keenness for violence.
They rose up in the 1970s and became infamous for displaying warped Fascist symbols and and dolling out racist and anti-Semitic abuse against opposition players and fans.
In 2012, a Spurs fan was stabbed in the neck when a 100-strong mob of neo-Nazi Lazio Ultras attacked English supporters ahead of the teams' Europa League clash in Rome.
Their biggest rivals are fellow Rome football giants AS Roma - who occupy the opposite Curva Sud stand at the Olympic Stadium they share.
AS Roma also has a traditionally left-wing fanbase as opposed to Lazio's largely right-wing Lazio supporters.
Lazio have a close alliance with the Ultras of Inter Milan dating back to the mid-1980s - as well as West Ham.
Lazio Ultras last year banned women from sitting in the "sacred" front rows of the stadium.
A statement said: "La Curva Nord is a sacred place, women, wives or fiancées, are not allowed in the first 10 rows.
"We invite those who choose the stadium as an alternative to a romantic day at Villa Borghese to instead choose another place."

Italian police investigate after Lazio Ultras leader shot dead - 08/08/2019

Far-right linked fan leader Fabrizio Piscitelli reportedly victim of ‘hit’ in Rome park
Prosecutors in Rome have launched a murder investigation after a leading member of Lazio Ultras, hardcore football fans often associated with the extreme right, was shot dead in a park in Rome.
Fabrizio Piscitelli, 53, was shot in the back of the neck in broad daylight on Wednesday in Acqueduct park, in the Cinecittà area of the capital.
Nicknamed Diabolik (diabolic), he appeared to have been the victim of an execution-style hit, according to reports. One theory circulating in the Italian media is that Piscitelli’s killer was waiting for him on a bench, having lured him into a trap.
Investigators are also exploring the possibility an organised crime group was behind the killing. Piscitelli had a criminal record for drugs trafficking and in 2016 police seized €2m worth of his assets.
“Piscitelli had lots of enemies and lots of business with various criminal groups,” police sources told Ansa news agency. The sources described Piscitelli as a “central figure” with links to a range of criminal groups, including the Albanian mafia. Flower tributes have been left on the park bench where his body was discovered.
The Lazio Ultras, also known as Irriducibili (irreducible), have been behind several acts of racism and antisemitism that have blighted the Serie A football club in recent years.
In April they paid tribute to the fascist dictator Benito Mussolini in Milan, before an Italian Cup match between Lazio and AC Milan. Two AC Milan players were also subjected to racist chants by fans during the game.
In October 2017 the Ultras covered Rome’s Olympic stadium with stickers featuring Anne Frank wearing the shirt of their rivals, AS Roma, alongside an antisemitic message. Thirteen Lazio supporters received stadium bans of between five and eight years and the club was subsequently fined €50,000.
Last year the group, which was created in the 1980s, distributed leaflets outside the Olympic stadium suggesting women should only be able to sit or stand at the back of the stadium.
