France : PSG fined for fans' offensive Neymar banner - 22/08/2019

Source : https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/

Paris Saint-Germain have been fined €2,000 after their fans aimed an offensive banner at Neymar during their Ligue 1 win over Nimes.

Neymar, 27, was targeted by fans during the 3-0 victory at Parc des Princes on August 11 amid growing speculation he wants to leave PSG.

One banner urged the Brazil forward to leave the Ligue 1 champions, while another expressed dissatisfaction with his behaviour.

Chants of "Son of a bitch" also rang out in the stands among home fans incensed at the failure of the player to commit his future to the club this summer..

The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) Disciplinary Committee announced sanctions on Wednesday, handing PSG a fine.

"Behaviour of the supporters of Paris Saint-Germain: use of pyrotechnic devices and deployment of an offensive banner," part of a statement read.

"€2,000 fine for Paris Saint-Germain."

Croatian Serbs Attacked by Masked Assailants in Two Bars- 21/08/2019

Source : https://balkaninsight.com/

Croatian Serb leaders say Wednesday’s attacks were the latest in a string of incidents targeting ethnic Serbs.

Croatian Serb leaders condemned on Thursday two attacks by masked assailants on local Serbs watching a televised football match near the town of Knin.

The Serbs in the villages of Uzdolje and Djevrske were watching a game involving Red Star from the Serbian capital Belgrade when the attackers burst into the bars, media reports said. Five, including a minor, were lightly injured.

Police in Sibenik-Knin County confirmed the attack, specifying that five persons were injured in the attack in Uzdolje, one of which was a minor. Just 20 minutes later, they received information about the attack in Djevrske, in which no one was hurt. The bar itself was damaged.

Police said a number of people were taken in for questioning on Thursday.

Anja Simpraga, deputy prefect of Sibenik-Knin County, said there were also British, US and French nationals present.

One of the injured persons was 17 years old. His father said the teenager was bleeding when he arrived home.

“He was sitting right by the door [of the bar] when someone came in and hit him on the head, and he [the son] fell; and as he fell, then once again, someone hit him on the back,” the father, whose name was not revealed, told N1 TV.

The father described it as the first apparently ethnically-motivated incident in the 15 years the family had lived in the area.

‘Yet another attack’

Boris Milosevic, president of the Serbian National Council and an MP supporting the government majority, took to Facebook to condemn “unfortunately yet another attack on Serbs”.

“This summer, after the death of Radoje Petkovic at Viskovo [near the city of Rijeka], the attack on the Red Star water polo players on the Split waterfront and the attack on seasonal workers on [the island of] Brac, we have another hate crime, where the attackers attacked and tried to hurt more people motivated solely by hatred of the nationality of the attacked,” Milosevic wrote.

Petkovic, 63, vice-president of the Serbian National Minority Council for the town of Kastav near Rijeka, died on June 10, weeks after he was beaten unconscious by 48-year-old Ilija Glavic, a Croatian war veteran.

On February 9, a group of men attacked three Red Star Belgrade water polo players in the coastal city of Split. The Croatian government and President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic condemned the attack.

On June 9, a group of five men, members of Hajduk Split ultras Torcida, attacked four seasonal workers in the town of Supetar on Brac. Two of the workers were Croatian Serbs distinguished by the attackers by their dialect.

Milosevic called the attack on Wednesday “a barbaric and cowardly act”, adding that there were women and children in the bar.

“This is not an ultras showdown. Any attempt to relativise this ugly event means justifying violence and siding with the attacker. Will the production of hate stop?” he asked.

Health Minister Milan Kujundzic condemned the incident.

Antwerp fans banned in the Netherlands

The mayor of the city of Enschede, where the meeting will take place, announced to ban the meeting to supporters of Antwerp deemed too dangerous for public order.

Following the decision of the municipality of Enschede, number 1 has found the solution so that its supporters can still vibrate and support their colors this Thursday against AZ: broadcast the game on the big screen.
For this last round of preliminaries of the Europa League, a big screen will be installed at Bosuil, the stadium of Antwerp, where a maximum of 6,000 people will be allowed. In addition, an entrance fee will be charged 5 euros, for organizational reasons.

The return match a week later will take place at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, as well as against Viktoria Pilsen, where 25,000 fans were present.

Rangers ordered to close section of Ibrox as club hammered by UEFA over sectarian singing - 23/08/2019

Source : https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/

Rangers have been ordered to close a section of Ibrox for their return clash with Legia Warsaw.

The club have been hammered by UEFA after the governing body ruled some fans were guilty of sectarian singing in the Europa League qualifying win over St Joseph's back in July.

Steven Gerrard's side face the Poles next Thursday with the tie hanging in the balance and a place in the group stage the reward for the winners.

But they will have to do so with at least 3000 seats lying empty. The news comes just almost an hour after Record Sport first revealed the Glasgow giants faced being carpeted under article 14 of the UEFA regulations.

The club have also been ordered to display a banner that reads #EqualGame and carrying the UEFA logo in the closed section.

And Rangers, in a strongly-worded statement, warned fans any one found guilty of engaging in sectarian behaviour will be banned by the club.

It read: "Rangers has been ordered by UEFA to close a section of Ibrox Stadium for the return leg of the club’s Europa League play-off tie against Legia Warsaw on Thursday, August 29.

"UEFA has ruled that a group of Rangers supporters were guilty of racist behaviour – which includes sectarian singing – during the match against St Joseph’s at Ibrox on July 18.

"Our supporters have been asked repeatedly by the club to refrain from indulging in this, and other forms of unacceptable behaviour. Sadly, the warnings have fallen on deaf ears and the actions of this minority will cause the Club and the majority of good and decent Rangers supporters to pay a heavy penalty.

"UEFA has ruled that a section, or sections containing no fewer than 3000 seats must be shut off during the club’s next European match, which is the home match against Legia Warsaw. The area, or areas to be closed will be announced in due course and the club will do its best to restrict the impact to offending supporters.

Punishments were doled out for incidents during matches against Villarreal and Osasuna in 2006, and again in both legs of a Europa League clash with PSV Eindhoven in 2011.

Rangers were fined £72,000 on that occasion but UEFA have come down much harder this time around.

Bayern Munich II - Chemnitzer FC - 24/08/2019

Source : https://www.dw.com/

Chemnitz football club condemns racism among own fans

Chemnitz FC has threatened to consider legal action after its own fans chanted anti-Semitic slogans at a Munich away game. The club is in a running conflict with the far-right contingent among its supporters.

Players of the Chemnitz football team did not offer their fans the traditional applause at the end of their third division match against Bayern Munich's second team on Saturday, after racist chants were heard during the game.

"The reason for this were expressions from the away end during the second half of the game, which Chemnitz FC (CFC) and all its active participants considers repulsive and utterly rejects," the club said in a statement issued on Saturday evening.

During the game, CFC fans also hung out a banner reading "We won't let ourselves be blackmailed!"

According to the club statement, fans called CFC sporting director Thomas Sobotzik a "Jewish pig" and chanted "at least Daniel Frahn is not a negro." Sobotzik sacked Frahn, the team captain, earlier this month after he repeatedly showed support for the local far-right hooligan group.

The fans' chants "cannot have any acceptance in our society," the club's statement said, before adding that CFC was considering legal action against the fans.

Conflict with fans

CFC has been in a running conflict with the far-right section of its supporters for several months, with some fans turning their back on the club as the far-right hooligan presence increased.

During a match in March, fans held a minute's silence and displayed a banner in honor of Thomas Haller, a local far-right leader and former head of the club's security firm. He was also the founder, in the early 1990s, of the hooligan group HooNaRa, short for "Hooligans Nazis Racists."

It was during the same match that Frahn celebrated scoring a goal by showing t-shirt that read "Support your local Hools!" He was given a warning on that occasion, as well as a four-game suspension and a €3,000 ($3,300) fine by the league authority, but was finally sacked by the club in August when he was seen socializing with hooligans after a league game.

Some 1,000 people attended Haller's funeral, under heavy police supervision, though there was little trouble.

Chemnitz Mayor Barbara Ludwig, a favorite target for the city's far-right scene, demanded an investigation into how the memorial action during the game came about.

The city of Chemnitz, in Saxony, is home to a well-established neo-Nazis network, which was known to have connections with the far-right terrorist organization National Socialist Underground (NSU).

It was also the scene of major far-right demos in September 2018 following the killing of local man during a fight with asylum-seekers. A young Syrian was convicted of manslaughter this week for the crime.

the match between Brest and Reims interrupted by the referee after homophobic insults

A week after the interruption of the Ligue 2 match between Nancy and Le Mans, a referee decided to briefly stop the game between Brest and Reims Saturday for the same reasons.

For the first time in Ligue 1 football, a match was briefly interrupted Saturday, August 24 after homophobic insults, reports a journalist franceinfo. The facts took place during the match between Stade Brestois and Stade de Reims, which counted for the third day of the championship.

Shortly after the 50th minute at the Francis-Le Blé Stadium in Brest (Finistère), homophobic insults descended from the stands. The referee heard them and decided to interrupt the match for a minute, the time to warn his delegate and the stadium announcer. The latter warned the public: if new insults of this type were heard, the fans might cause a complete interruption of the meeting. Fortunately, these insults did not reappear. Brest, who had not won in Ligue 1 at home since November 17, 2012, finally won 1 goal at zero.

A week earlier, the Ligue 2 match between Nancy and Le Mans had to be interrupted due to homophobic songs. It was already a first in Ligue 2.

Brest captain Mathias Autret unconvinced about stopping matches over homophobic chanting

Speaking to RMC last night, Ligue 1 newly promoted club Brest’s captain Mathias Autret admitted that he was unconvinced about the LFP’s new policy of stopping matches during which fans produce homophobic chants from the stands.

“I am not convinced that this is the right solution. They’ll do as they please. If they want to stop the match for that, they are going to be stopping matches every weekend. Are we going to stop people from chanting? That’s impossible. Aside from that, if they want to stop the match, good good. Maybe they are right to do so, I don’t really know. But I am not convinced that it is going to work. They are going to chant something else instead as well, but if this annoys them, then they are just going to continue. If this happens at the Vélodrome (Marseille) I am not sure they can stop the game because the fans will react by continuing. The referee was talking to me about possible sanctions for clubs. I don’t know how that would work but in any case I cannot stop the kop from chanting whatever they want. I am not for it, if they could avoid the obscenities I would be for it, notably for the children. That would be great. But this is not how you change the culture in stadiums.”

This comes after Brest’s clash with Reims last night was momentarily paused because of homophobic chanting.
