PSG's trip to Metz becomes latest game to be temporarily SUSPENDED as France continues strong stance on homophobic banners and chants

French champions Paris Saint-Germain became the latest side to see their match temporarily suspended due to homophobic banners and chants.

The French Football Federation are taking a strong stance against homophobia from supporters this season and referees have shown a willingness to halt games momentarily if banners are not removed or chants do not subside.

The decision to stop playing during the first half at Metz comes 48 hours after Marseille's visit of Nice was overshadowed by homophobia in the stands.

Angel Di Maria had given PSG an early lead from the penalty spot but minutes later play was stopped due to a homophobic banner behind the goal.

'PSG, LFP, let me sing to you, to tell you to go f*** yourselves! I won't be on TV, because my words are not very gay,' the banner read.

The derogatory language represents a clear violation of Ligue 1 regulations on homophobia in stadiums and so referee Frank Schneider stopped play until the banner was removed from sight.

French football is taking a zero tolerance approach to fan behaviour in stadiums from this season and is attempting to set a strong example to the rest of the European leagues.

Flares also caused issues with smoke during the game as supporters ramped up the atmosphere inside the Stade Saint-Symphorien.

Salford and Leyton Orient fans throw cones at each other as League Two supporters clash after yesterday’s draw



SALFORD CITY and Leyton Orient fans lobbed cones at each other in an ugly post-match scrap following their 1-1 League Two clash.

Supporters from both sides got into a row outside of the stadium as they made their way to the coaches.

While some fans threw punches and aimed kicks, some were picking up police cones to launch at their rival supporters.

Salford had earlier scored a late own goal to allow Leyton Orient to steal an important point at Moor Lane.

Ritchie Towell had given the hosts a 13th-minute lead, before Chris Neal's unfortunate own goal saw the spoils shared.

But the two sets of fans clashed off the pitch after the final whistle as the trouble spilled outside of the stadium.

Taking to Twitter, one fan revealed: "Couple started throwing punches and then naturally fans from both sides got involved.

Riots at the 1st FC Union Berlin: Police determined after riots in the block

In the course of the riots between fans of the 1st FC Union and Borussia Dortmund and the police, the Berlin police have opened 23 criminal investigations, including for release of prisoners, breach of the peace, personal injury and insult. Nine people were arrested at short notice to identify their personal details, the authorities said.
In the Bundesliga match between Union and Dortmund (3: 1) it had come on Saturday in the first half to riots in the Dortmund block. Union fans wanted to leave after a choreography in their own block the stadium roof on the departure at the guest area. Only there is this possible. According to police, the guest fans tried to prevent this, it came to arguments, the police intervened.

Three BVB fans have been arrested, other supporters have tried to free these three. "This prisoner release could only be prevented by the use of irritant gas," said the police. The paramedics had to provide 23 times help for eye irritation.

Thorsten Fleischer, chief of police operations, there was a first clash between supportes of both teams during the afternoon in Frankfurt.
15 to 20 people were involved.

This morning, about twenty Strasbourg hooligans without tickets, were checked by police. They were allowed to enter the city but not inside the stadium.
