Leeds United - Millwall FC - 14/02/2015

Source : http://www.express.co.uk/

Angry Ian Holloway condemns treatment of travelling Millwall fans at Elland Road

Just 234 Millwall fans made the trip north due to having to exchange vouchers for tickets at Woolley Edge services, where a police escort steered them to Elland Road in a bid to prevent trouble.

Emerging from the tunnel where he made his feelings known to all and sundry at the final whistle, Holloway said: “I’m fuming that my fans aren’t allowed here and I’ve just kicked up all sorts of stink about it.

“For me, the West Yorkshire Police are treating us like 10 or 15 years ago and it’s wrong – just wrong!

“We’re no different to anybody else. Let us come up here, don’t corral people, because we’re two proud clubs and you should do your job, which is policing things.

“We’re a very proud club, so is Leeds and I’ve had some banter with their fans. I even conducted their song and helped them to sing it because it’s great and we’re all football people. So why oh why can’t you deal with a Saturday afternoon?”

The restrictions on Millwall supporters travelling to Leeds have been in place in recent years after serious outbreaks of violence surrounding this fixture in October 2007.

Then, rival hooligans clashed and a number of police officers were injured amid hooliganism described as some of the worst ever seen at Elland Road.

Holloway said: “It was fashionable to go and have a fight somewhere years ago but it aint any more.

“Society was wrong back then, not Millwall, and I want some respect for my fans!

“My team needed a bit of extra support here and it might have made the difference. How many Leeds fans were there? 24,000 – and we’ve got 200!

“That’s why I’m so proud of my boys and my fans who even bothered to come.

“If I was being labelled like that, do you think I would buy a ticket and go and stand in a service station somewhere?

“I don’t think so and I’d like to put two fingers up to whoever is telling me to do that.”

Holloway’s last trip to West Yorkshire saw his team stuffed 4-0 at Bradford in an FA Cup third-round replay last month, denying them a plum tie at Chelsea.

Millwall’s supporters will not forgive that failure easily.

Germany : Cologne promise action after fans leave nasty scent with clashes during Rhine derby - 16/02/2015

Source : http://www.independent.co.uk/

The trouble occurred during the Rhine derby against Borussia Monchengladbach as fans engaged in violent scuffles

Bundesliga club Cologne will attempt to identify and sanction fans responsible for flares and on-pitch clashes with police after Saturday's Rhine derby defeat at Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Masked Cologne supporters wearing white overalls stormed the pitch after Granit Xhaka's injury-time winner for `Gladbach, leading to violent scuffles that left several security staff and one police officer injured. Two arrests were made and some fans were identified.

Cologne says on its website that it is "disappointed and angered" by the disturbances that "cause massive harm to Cologne and the majority of Cologne's fans."

Promising "tough action," the club adds: "Whoever claims to be a Cologne fan and behaves like this does not understand the basic rules of football and is not wanted."

England : Liverpool fans given suspended sentences following mass brawl with Manchester City fans after clash at Anfield last year - 17/02/2015

Source : http://www.dailymail.co.uk

A mass brawl involving 15 rival supporters then breaks out in entrance

Two Liverpool supporters have been handed suspended sentences for their involvement in a mass brawl at a train station after their game with Manchester City last year.
The brawl broke out at Liverpool train station between fans after the match at Anfield on April 13, which Liverpool won 3-2.
CCTV footage shows the Reds fans clashing with City supporters at Lime Street station following the game.

It shows two Liverpool fans, Stephen Foster and Stephen Jeffers entering the railway station, before the former can be been bumping into an unknown Man City fan before headbutting him.
The man can be seen wiping blood away from his face before City fans Paul Knight and Waine Hamilton intervene and a mass brawl involving 15 fans breaks out at the doorway of the station's Skelhorne Street entrance.
The brawl then moves inside the station where rival fans can be seen throwing punches before Knight, who punched a Liverpool fan to the ground is arrested by plain clothes police as other travellers walk by.
Merseyside Police then examined the footage and identified Foster, 32, and Jeffers, 44, who have been described as part of Liverpool FC's Urchins firm.

They appeared at Liverpool Crown Court where Foster, a scaffolder, who had a previous conviction for football violence was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years.
Meanwhile Jeffers, a gas fitter was handed a nine month sentence suspended for two years.
According to the Liverpool Echo, judge Mr Recorder Shaw told the pair: 'Behaving so disgracefully in public at your age is quite shocking.
'The public are entitled to go about their business safe in the knowledge that they will not be drawn into or involved in scenes of violence.'
Knight and Hamilton both of Cheadle, Manchester were sentenced to 12-month community orders and 150 hours of unpaid work, with Knight ordered to pay £250 in compensation to the police officer he assaulted.

PSG - Chelsea FC - 17/02/2015

Chelsea fans 'tear-gassed by French police before and after' PSG draw, according to reports

Chelsea fans reportedly had teargas fired at them by French police before and after the 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain last night.

A report in the Daily Mail claims that a section of the travelling support had teargas fired them and were 'kettled' outside a bar in the city centre.

With 10 minutes played more than 200 fans were still trying to get into the Parc des Princes.

French police reportedly used the crowd deterrent amid scuffles involving the two sets of supporters.

After the match, Chelsea fans were involved in a highly unsavoury incident that saw them refuse to allow a black passenger to board a train on the Paris Metro.

The club have condemned the behaviour and stated that those involved will be banned.

Uefa is aware of the video but said they are unable to take any action as the incident took place away from the stadium.

"Uefa condemns all forms of discrimination and we are appalled by the incident which took place in the Paris Metro on Tuesday," read a statement. "However, as it occurred away from stadium, it is outside Uefa’s remit to act. It's a matter for local authorities to investigate further."

AS Roma - Feyenoord Rotterdam - 19/02/2015

Source : http://www.football-italia.net/

Feyenoord fans clash pre-Roma

A group of reportedly drunk Feyenoord supporters draw intervention from riot police in the Italian capital ahead of the Europa League clash with Roma.

Several outlets this evening are reporting on clashes between police and the visiting Dutch supporters, whose side face the Giallorossi in the Round of 32 tomorrow evening.

A group of Feyenoord fans apparently congregated at the neighbourhood square of Campo de Fiori, many of them allegedly drunk, and started shouting and throwing bottles and other objects in the vicinity.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports the mob to have been 500-strong, while Il Corriere dello Sport relate them to be closer to 1,000.

Shops in Campo de Fiori were apparently closed and the neighbourhood effectively besieged as riot police were brought in.

The supporters apparently started throwing bottles at the police as well, resulting in 12 arrests, according to La Repubblica.

Rome operates an alcohol-ban in public selling-points on days preceding and coinciding with major football games, but the Feyenoord supporters are being reported as drunk.

The square and the iconic Spanish Steps were left covered with beer bottles and other litter, while the recently-restored Barcaccia fountain was also damaged.

On Wednesday, 23 Feyenoord fans were arrested after causing trouble in Rome's Campo de Fiori.

Roma hosts the Dutch club in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 match later Thursday.

Feyenoord was thrown out of the 2006-07 UEFA Cup after crowd trouble during a group stage match at Nancy.

Eight Feyenoord football fans have been given individual fines of €45,000 and banned from attending tonight’s game against AS Roma following crowd trouble ahead of the match, RTL news says on Thursday. The supporters were arrested on Wednesday night after crowd trouble broke out in the city’s Campo dei Fiori square where supporters had gathered. Many were drunk, urinated against monuments and threw bottles at police, RTL says. The supporters were all given six-month jail terms in the fast-track legal hearings, which were converted into the high fines. Vandalising ancient monuments in Italy carries heavy penalties, RTL says. In total, 33 people were arrested but 10 were released almost immediately. The 15 who have not yet appeared in court will be brought before judges as soon as possible, local papers say. Battleground There was further trouble in Rome on Thursday afternoon, this time focusing on the famous Piazza di Spagna. A number of people were injured as riot police moved in after fireworks and smoke bombs were thrown. Italian news agency Ansa described the aftermath as looking like a battleground. The ground was strewn with bottles and rubbish and several mopeds had been damaged. Feyenoord plays AS Roma in the Europa League on Thursday evening. Some 6,000 Feyenoord fans are thought to be in the city.

Chelsea bans three fans over racist incident on Paris metro - 19/02/2015

Source : http://www.france24.com/

London football club Chelsea on Thursday suspended three fans from attending matches at the club's Stamford Bridge stadium pending an investigation into a racist incident on the Paris metro this week.

"Chelsea Football Club is suspending three people from Stamford Bridge as a result of investigations into the incident on the Paris Metro on Tuesday evening," a statement on the club's website announced.

"If it is deemed there is sufficient evidence of their involvement in the incident, the club will issue banning orders for life," the club said.

A black commuter was pushed out of a train and on to the platform on Tuesday by what appeared to be a group of Chelsea fans travelling to the Parc des Princes stadium for the Champions League last-16 first leg against Paris Saint-Germain.

"We're racist and that's the way we like it," the Chelsea fans chanted, in taunts that were clearly audible on a video of the incident filmed at the Richelieu-Drouot metro station and published on the Guardian newspaper’s website on Wednesday.

Chelsea responded to widespread condemnation of the incident by announcing that three supporters had been identified and suspended pending further investigation by the Premier League club as well as French and British authorities.

The move prevents the supporters from attending Saturday's Premier League match with Burnley at Stamford Bridge, which has been designated a "Game for Equality".

The supporters face life bans if they are found guilty.

Appeal for information

"We have received substantial information to date following our witness appeal and we are grateful to the many Chelsea supporters who have provided information so far," the statement on Chelsea's website said.

"Our investigations are ongoing and we would request any further information is sent to customer.services@chelseafc.com," it said before adding: "We also continue to cooperate fully with the Metropolitan and Paris police forces who lead the ongoing criminal investigation."

The supporters' shocking behaviour on the Paris metro was condemned by British Prime Minister David Cameron, FIFA president Sepp Blatter and the anti-racism groups Football Against Racism in Europe and Kick It Out.

Chelsea's first black player, Paul Canoville, said he was "embarrassed" and "ashamed" by the incident.

Prior to revealing the suspensions, Chelsea had already released a statement describing the incident as "abhorrent" and vowing to take the "strongest possible" action if its supporters were found to be involved.

Paris prosecutors had earlier confirmed that the alleged victim, identified in media reports as 33-year-old Souleymane S., had made a formal complaint.

The French authorities are working with their British counterparts as part of their investigation into the incident.

Anyone convicted of "deliberate racial violence on public transport" in France can face a prison term of up to three years and a fine of up to €45,000.

Police seek 'racist' Chelsea fans returing to St Pancras station - 21/02/2015

Source : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/

British Transport Police (BTP) is investigating after a group of men, believed to be Chelsea supporters returning from Paris by train, were heard shouting racist chants at St Pancras station.
The men were spotted at around 8pm on Wednesday, the day after Chelsea played Paris St Germain in the Champions League. BTP have called the incident “abhorrent” and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
This comes just days after Chelsea supporters were heard chanting "We're racist, we're racist and that's the way we like it" on the train in Paris, ahead of Champions League clash.

The racist chanting was reported by a “disgusted” member of the public who said the men shouted as they walked through the Kings Cross station, having taken the 6.40pm service from Paris Gard du Nord.
Superintendent Gill Murray of British Transport Police said: “It’s clear that unfortunately there is still a minority who think it is acceptable to behave in such an abhorrent manner.

“There is more that needs to be done to publicly condemn this type of behaviour and British Transport Police is actively working with football clubs, the football authorities and other key agencies to tackle this appalling behaviour.”
He added: “If you travelled on the train from Paris or were at the station and have information which can assist our investigation I would urge you to get in touch as a matter of urgency.”
On Tuesday, French-Mauritanian Souleymane S, was returning home from work on the night of the Chelsea v Paris Saint-Germain match, when a group of Chelsea supporters stopped him from boarding a Paris metro train.
He later spoke of his fear and shock during the incident, adding that he is determined the appropriate punishment is handed out. “I just want justice to be done, no more than that,” he said.
After the attack Souleymane filed a legal complaint with French police who are investigating with the help of Scotland Yard, and seven suspects have been identified.
