Everything started when Xeneize supporters went out of the wagons and were pelted with rocks and other missiles, throwing by locals so police intervened using rubber bullets to disperse both mobs.

French fans fined for shoplifting at airport

ELEVEN Marseille fans who came to Cyprus to watch their team play with AEL on Thursday were arrested for shop-lifting and ordered to pay €500 each by the Larnaca criminal court, police said.
The fans were accused of stealing perfumes and cigarettes valued at around €2,000 from the duty-free shop in Larnaca airport.
The fans arrived on Thursday morning on a chartered flight in order to watch the game later that evening, according to a police spokesman.
A security guard saw one of the fans stealing perfume from the duty-free shop in the arrivals section and made him pay for it before he left the shop.
The security guard noticed later, after viewing footage from the closed circuit security system that other fans had stolen perfume and cartons of cigarettes from the shop.
At around 10.30pm on Thursday, police searched all the Marseille fans and their luggage.
They arrested 11 French fans identified using photographs taken from the security system. They all had perfume and cigarettes in their possession that they could not account for. They were then taken to holding cells before appearing in court yesterday where they were each ordered to pay €500.

Source : http://www.bbc.co.uk

Spartak Moscow fans accused of fighting in Glasgow

Six Spartak Moscow fans have appeared in court following clashes with Celtic fans in Glasgow on Wednesday.

The charges range from breach of the peace to resisting arrest and assaulting police officers.

Two of the male Spartak fans were remanded in custody while four others were released on bail on the condition they surrendered their passports.

The men face separate trials at Glasgow Sheriff Court later this month and in January 2013.

Alexey Fedorov, 22, and Alexsey Filatov, 36, admitted breaching the peace on 5 December by fighting with Celtic fans in the Gallowgate area.

Filatov also admitted resisting arrest. The pair will be sentenced in January.

Fedorov will stand trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court in January charged with assaulting a police officer.

It is not known if the incidents took place before or after Spartak Moscow's 2-1 defeat to Celtic at Parkhead.

Charges denied

Four other fans from Russia were also arrested and charged with fighting with Celtic fans.

Evgeny Morozov, 23; Vladamir Chiscyakov, 24; Gorgy Morozov, 28; and Valery Grishko, 29, are accused of breaching the peace in Bain Street on Wednesday.

Mr Grishko and Mr Chiscyakov are accused of assaulting police officers, while Evegeny Morozov is charged with hindering police officers as they were trying to make arrests.

All four denied the charges and are due to stand trial later this month.

They were all released on bail on the condition that they surrendered their passports.

Swansea City - Norwich City - 08/12/2012

Swansea fan arrested for alleged racist gesture at Sébastien Bassong

A Swansea City fan has been arrested after Sébastien Bassong, Norwich City's centre-half, became the latest Premier League footballer to be the victim of an alleged racist gesture.

The incident occurred 76 minutes into Norwich's thrilling 4-3 win, when Robert Snodgrass scored their fourth and decisive goal with a 25-yard free‑kick. It was during the celebrations that followed the goal that the spectator was said to have committed the offence.

In complaining to Howard Webb, the referee, Bassong was caught on one press photographer's camera making what is commonly called a monkey gesture, scratching his right armpit with his right hand. The defender then had to be restrained by team-mates as he tried to move towards the crowd.

Straight after the match, Bassong, who had scored his side's second goal, was interviewed by police in a storage cupboard adjacent to the press room at the Liberty. At 6.15pm Swansea issued the following statement: "An incident occurred after Norwich's fourth goal and Sébastien Bassong made the referee aware that there was a racist gesture towards him from a Swansea City fan.

"From the time of that report, within 10 minutes the stewards obtained the CCTV footage, went through it and identified the alleged person in question. Also within the 10-minute period a male spectator was arrested for a racially aggravated public order offence. As a club, Swansea City abhor racism and have worked hard to keep it out of what is a family club."

Bassong was not available for comment but Chris Hughton, the Norwich manager, said: "I was made aware of the incident and all credit to Swansea City for identifying the person involved so quickly. The matter is now with the right people – the police."

Bundesliga : Proud German fans continue protests against security plan - 09/12/2012

Source : http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com

German football fans continued their protests against planned security measures on Saturday, marching through city centres and watching the opening 12 minutes and 12 seconds of matches in silence.

..The fans carried banners with messages such as "Keep our fan culture", "We don't want tennis crowds" and "Football lives through its fans" as they continued to put pressure on clubs and the German Football League ahead of a meeting on December 12.

The DFL's proposal includes frisking at high risk games, tougher sanctions for the use of pyrotechnics and seating-only areas for away fans.

Around 1,000 fans of Bavarian rivals Augsburg and Bayern Munich marched together through the streets before their Bundesliga game which Bayern won 2-0 and there were also marches in Dortmund, Paderborn and Dresden.

For the second week running, fans at first and second division matches remained silent for the first 12 minutes and 12 seconds of matches, creating an eerie atmosphere where the shouts of the players could be heard, before bursting into life.

At Borussia Dortmund's match at home to Wolfsburg, fans counted down the final few seconds of silence before throwing toilet rolls onto the air in South American style.

"The protests have been a complete success," Philipp Markhardt, spokesman for the supporters' organisation Pro Fans, told German media. "Everyone has heard and seen us."

German supporters are intensely proud of their culture, saying the raucous flag-waving atmosphere at their stadiums is a far cry from other countries such as England.

The Bundesliga allows standing areas in its stadiums, the largest being Borussia Dortmund's 25,000 capacity Suedtribune. The terraces are converted to seats for European competition.

The DFL's initiative came as a police report last month said the 2011/12 season had the highest number of criminal proceedings in 12 years, almost double the amount of injured fans and a more than 20 percent rise in police work hours from the previous season.

Widespread crowd trouble before October's Ruhr valley derby between Dortmund and Schalke and more fighting when Hanover met Dynamo Dresden in the German Cup days later have fuelled concern at the problem.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand suffers facial injuries after being struck by coin thrown from the crowd

Season 12/13 - December - Page 2 731450city

Manchester City have apologised to Rio Ferdinand after the Manchester United defender appeared to be hit by a coin as he celebrated his side's third goal in their 3-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium.

Ferdinand sustained a cut just above the eye in the incident, which is now being investigated by Greater Manchester Police.

"We apologise to Rio," said a Manchester City spokesperson. "We condemn the actions of the individual concerned.

"We are reviewing the CCTV with the police and our normal security.

"We will support the police with any investigation and hopefully identify the person as soon as possible."

Sir Alex Ferguson adopted a more serious tone.

"It was disappointing when the supporter ran on the pitch and Rio got hit in the eye by a coin," said the United manager. "The game didn't deserve that."

Turkish fans riot at wheelchair basketball game

Police in Turkey have arrested at least 10 rival soccer fans from two of Istanbul's biggest teams after clashes at a disabled basketball game left the court filled with tear gas and littered with broken wheelchairs.

The Besiktas and Galatasaray fans were detained on Monday after police examined footage from Sunday evening's basketball game, which had to be called off as hooligans shouted obscenities and sprayed fire extinguishers at each other.

Besiktas and Galatasaray have been fierce rivals in soccer, Turkey's most popular sport, for more than a century.

Their fans, along with supporters of Fenerbahce, another of the country's biggest clubs, are not allowed to attend away games between the teams in soccer and basketball.

The regulation, however, does not apply to other sports, including wheelchair basketball.

"Besiktas supporters should not have been allowed into the stands. Who will pay the price for the injured athletes and supporters," Sedat Incesu, coach of the Galatasaray wheelchair basketball team, told the NTV television station.

"If hooligans are now seen in wheelchair basketball stands then we have nothing else to say, it is over ... Sports are now officially dead in this country," he said.

Police used tear gas to break up the brawl at the Ahmet Comert Sports Hall in Istanbul. Television images showed basketball players covering their faces with their jerseys as officers in riot gear led basketball supporters to safety.

A court invasion had already caused a half-hour delay before the game started, and Galatasaray was leading 31-26 when play was suspended, six minutes from the end of the second quarter.

Russia : SportsOver 800 Police for Closed RPL Game - 10/12/2012

More than 800 police will maintain public order at Monday's football match between Zenit St. Petersburg and Anzhi Makhachkala, a game being played behind closed doors.

Zenit are serving the second in a two-match empty-stadium order after their fans were accused of throwing a flare onto the pitch that injured a player.

"Security at the stadium and in the surrounding territory will be provided by 882 law enforcement officials and 64 members of the private security firms," Zenit said on their website.

While high, the figure is less than half of the police deployed in the first game behind closed doors against CSKA Moscow last month.

It is at roughly times greater than the number present at English Premier League games, where no more than 200 to 300 officers police the top matches, though they are assisted by one stadium steward for every 250 fans.

Russia plans to introduce professional stewards in the near future.
