Panathinaikos also swept Panionios, winning game 2 with an impressive 107-59 score away, in a game marred by the carrots and bangers that Panionios fans threw to the court, resulting in the evacuation of the stands during the third period of the match. Riots continued outside the court with extensive clashes between the home fans and the police.

Angry Manchester United fans have set off a smoke bomb outside Old Trafford as part of a mass protest against the club’s American owners, the Glazers.Hundreds of fans congregated outside the ground ahead of the final game of the season against Stoke, chanting and brandishing placards. The smoke bomb was set off outside the club’s Megastore. Greater Manchester Police confirmed one smoke bomb had been set off but said there were no injuries or arrests. Hearts of Midlothian - Celtic Glasgow - 09/05/2010
City football casuals clash as Hibs fans storm Hearts pub
FOOTBALL casuals clashed in a mass brawl in the Capital which left one man injured. Eyewitnesses said around 35 Hibs fans taunted about 15 Hearts supporters at the Horseshoe Bar following a game on Sunday, shortly before the fight broke out at around 5pm.
Police have confirmed they are now investigating the attack, which saw fans batter the windows and doors of the Gorgie pub with metal poles and a steel bollard.
The windows were last night boarded up and blood could still be seen on the lamppost where the incident took place.
The clash followed Hearts final match of the season at home to Celtic, although there is no suggestion any fans from Glasgow were involved.
There were suggestions from local residents that the fight may have been a retaliation for a previous attack on the Hibs social club in Sunnyside, near Easter Road .
A local taxi driver, who asked not to be named, said: "I looked out the window and saw about 30 to 35 guys coming down from Gorgie. They were outside the front door and it looked like they were trying to entice the fans inside to come out.
"It might have been a retaliation for the attack at the Hibs club last week because it looks like they had come prepared."
He added: "One guy had a 4ft metal pole and another had a metal cosh. Around 15 Hearts supporters came out from the pub and they went at it. They were scrapping with each other forwards and backwards, but one of the guys from the attacking side got left behind and about six or seven laid into him pretty badly.
"They were hitting him on the head and body and he was curled up around the lamppost.
"After that six police cars and a van showed up."
His girlfriend said: "There were quite a few people standing and watching. Some of them helped the guy who had been battered after the rest had fled. He was staggering around after that and the police spoke to him when they arrived. We've lived here five years and we've never seen anything like that before. It's known for being a Hearts pub but you don't get any trouble."
Another couple, who also asked not to be identified, were sitting inside the pub's conservatory when the attack took place, and said they were left shaken by the incident.
The woman, 50, said: "We saw two young lads chase two others into the pub. One of the guys at the bar locked the doors. There was a lot of noise from outside. Then they started battering the windows. One blond lad had this metal cosh while another had a huge pole, maybe 4ft long. I thought he was going to throw it through the window."
Her husband added: "They also tore up a bollard from the yard outside and were ramming it against the door. It was really frightening. We've been coming here for a drink for 20 years and nothing like that has happened before."
A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said:
"Anyone who was in the area at the time, who has any information that can assist our inquiries, should contact police."
No-one at Caledonian Breweries, which runs the Horseshoe Bar, was available for comment.

Stockport County - Tranmere Rovers - 08/05/2010
Source: Stockport Express + youtube.com
Arrests at final clash
Police arrested nine people as trouble flared at Stockport County’s final home game of the season.
A large-scale pitch invasion after the match against Tranmere Rovers, at Edgeley Park on Saturday, saw visiting fans break the goalposts in front of the Railway End.
Police, who had prepared for potential trouble, arrested seven Tranmere supporters, charging four with drinking in view of the pitch, drinking when entering a sports ground, being drunk and disorderly and a public order offence.
The three others were given fixed penalty notices for public order offences, as were two County supporters.
Marcus Heap, 43, who was at the match, said: "A lot of Tranmere fans came onto the pitch and some of the Stockport fans went walking up towards them but police and stewards stepped in to force them back. Some officers drew batons.
"I looked towards the Railway End and realised the crossbar was broken, people had been swinging on it. Clearly the Tranmere fans were very vocal, celebrating staying up."
A smaller pitch invasion by some of the estimated 3,000 travelling fans happened after their team’s first goal.
Tranmere won the game 3-0 to secure their League One status.
But hundreds of fans, including some from both sides, took to the pitch upon the final whistle.
County may now ask Tranmere to foot the £1,500 repair bill for the goalposts.
Security officer Gordon Taylor said: "Because it was the last game of the season it was a category C match, which is the highest category, where you have to be aware there could be some disorder.
"Most of it was good natured – apart from those who wrecked the goalposts. We can’t condone stuff like that. We tried to do what we could but there was too many of them."
Chief Inspector Mike Miskell, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "The small minority who tried to cause disorder were swiftly arrested and dealt with."
Tramnere could not be reached for comment.

Football fans clash at Muratti
HUNDREDS of Jersey and Guernsey football fans clashed on the Springfield pitch at Saturday’s Muratti final, with Jersey police blaming the home side for the trouble.
Following Guernsey’s 1-0 win, their supporters raced onto the pitch to celebrate, prompting a reaction from Jersey followers. One 17-year-old Jersey fan was arrested in the scuffles that followed.
Inspector Alan Williamson said that the groups were separated and that Guernsey’s ‘core’ fans were escorted to the harbour. ‘A small number of Jerseymen did not go to watch football and had other ideas on their minds,’ he said.
‘Guernsey fans, from my perspective, were clearly there to get involved in the game and were there to make it a fun day – a more cohesive group of football supporters.’

Although only one person was arrested police say their investigations are ongoing. No one needed hospital treatment.
Meanwhile Jersey Police are blaming alcohol for a high number of arrests at the weekend. 30 people were arrested. 20 for assaults or public order offences, most of them in town.
The police are threatening to crack down on disorderly drunks.

DFB imposes fine and fan ban on Rostock after latest fan trouble - 10/05/2010
Source : dpa
Second division club Hansa Rostock was fined on Monday and will have none of their fans at the away leg of an upcoming relegation/promotion tie in the wake of crowd trouble the previous day, the German football federation DFB ruled.
The DFB fined Rostock 35,000 euros (44,700 dollars) and imposed the fan ban because their match at Fortuna Dusseldorf had to beinterrupted twice due to trouble from Rostock fans. In addition, 14 police were injured and 159 people - mostly Rostock fans - were arrested in clashes on the eve of the game. police said charges would be brought for assault, breach of the peace and resisting arrest.
Rostock finished 16th in the second division and have to play the relegation/promotion tie against third division Ingelstadt on Friday and Monday in an effort to stay in the second tier.
None of their fans will be allowed to attend the first leg in Ingolstadt and the Dfb said that Rostock must also compensate Ingolstadt for the lost ticket income.
Meanwhile, the sports minister of the state of Mecklenburg-West Pommerania, where Rostock is located, attacked the club leadershipfor a lack of fan care at home and away matches to prevent violence from Rostock's notorious fans.
"There is no clear position from the club, especially the supervisory board," said sports minister Lorenz Caffier.

Several charged after Slovak football hooligans run amok in Hungary
Several football supporters, ten Slovaks and a Czech, have been charged with public disorder offences after more than a hundred went on the rampage in eastern Hungary on Tuesday, local police said.
The 11 placed on remand will be fast-tracked through the courts, and a ruling is expected on Thursday, local police spokesman Bertalan Gasko told the state news agency MTI.
Police initially had to detain 111 foreign supporters after rushing to quell disturbances at a motorway service station, Gasko said.
Buses carrying the fans had taken a detour through Hungary en route from the Slovak capital Bratislava for the Slovak Cup final in Michalovce.
Slovak police had issued warnings only days before the incident over the potential for disturbances from supporters of finalists Slovan Bratislava and Spartak Trnava.

Ten Slovak football fans and one Czech to appear before Hungarian court
Hungarian police are expected to put 11 arrested football fans before the Municipal Court in Encs, a town in north-eastern Hungary, on Thursday, May 13, following disturbances linked to the Slovak Cup final on Tuesday.
The case, involving 111 fans, of which ten Slovaks and one Czech ended up facing criminal charges, will therefore be fast-tracked by the Hungarian authorities, Bertalan Gasko from the Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen regional police headquarters confirmed to the TASR newswire on Wednesday, May 12.
The police in Encs on Tuesday arrested the men on the same day as the Slovak Cup final in the eastern Slovak town of Michalovce after they attacked vehicles and sprayed swastikas in two lay-bys near the town. "Eleven people were taken into custody. In line with Hungarian laws, we can detain them for 72 hours. They have been charged with group hooliganism," said Gasko.
Another 100 people were released after the police interrogated them. In addition, three fans were fined for not having identification documents on them. One was Slovak, while another was Ukrainian with a residency permit issued by the Slovak authorities.

Sheffield United fan banned after racist chants - 12/05/2010
Source : The Star
A SHEFFIELD United supporter who sang racist songs on a train back from an away fixture has been banned from attending football matches.
Michael H., aged 21, of Atherton Road, Arbourthorne, was on a packed train from Doncaster to Sheffield in March when he started singing abusive songs, Sheffield Magistrates' Court heard.
Passengers in the carriage included a family with two young children.
But H.- part of a group of about 20 Blades - continued chanting abuse until the 5.42pm service pulled into Sheffield rail station.
When he got off the train H. turned his attention towards three Asian men on the platform, singing racist songs at them before British Transport Police officers arrested him for racially aggravated disorderly conduct.
H. was handed a three-year football banning order after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct.
Under the terms of the ban he cannot go within 2,500m of Bramall Lane or Sheffield city centre when United play at home.
And when the Blades play away he cannot go within five miles of the host stadium.
The order also bans him from travelling on the British rail network when Sheffield United or England are playing - and he must surrender his passport when either team are involved in matches abroad.
PC Wayne Mitchell, of British Transport Police's football banning order unit, said: "Abusive language, racially aggravated slurs and intimidating members of the public, whether inside or outside the ground, or on public transport whilst travelling to or from a game, is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated by police.
"Those who think they can behave in such a way and ruin law-abiding supporters and members of the public days out in the process, should know that we will seek banning orders.
"Such behaviour is not welcome on the railways or at football matches.
"Sheffield United fans, like the majority of football supporters, are well behaved genuine fans who enjoy supporting their team in good spirits.
"It is only the behaviour of a small minority, like Mr H., a so-called football fan, who has been intent on causing distress and abuse."

Pc blinded by missile thrown after Manchester derby - 11/05/2010
Source : BBC News
A police officer was blinded in one eye after being hit by a missile after the Manchester derby.
The 24-year-old was trying to deal with a disturbance among rival fans outside the City of Manchester Stadium last month when he was hit by an object.
He was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary and now only has partial sight in the injured eye. It is not known if this will be permanent.
Police have issued a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to.
The officer was outside gate seven, on Ashton New Road, when the incident happened on 17 April.
'Mindless thug'
Greater Manchester Police said the missile was thrown by one of a number of fans leaving the stadium after the match.
Supt Jim Liggett said: "The officer was simply doing his job, trying to ensure the match passed off safely and enjoyably for fans, when some mindless thug threw something at him.
"He may now be permanently blind in one eye as a result and, sadly, this incident demonstrates what can happen when objects are thrown indiscriminately and the dangers faced by police officers every single day.
"I would like to hear from anyone who knows the person in the image as he may have vital information about who may be responsible."

Huddersfield town centre lockdown for Saturday's big Millwall match - 13/05/2010
Source : Huddersfield Daily Examiner
A LOCKDOWN of Huddersfield pubs is planned for Saturday.
It’s part of a huge policing operation for the crucial Town v Millwall League I play-off game.
The town centre lockdown will see not only hundreds of officers on duty, but a team of police “spotters” from London who will flag up trouble-makers to West Yorkshire officers.
And many pubs will not be opening before or after the big game, which kicks off at 12.15pm.
The plans are in place to hopefully prevent a repetition of ugly scenes before the last Millwall visit, when scores of police officers had to wade in to break up a mass brawl which broke out on Wakefield Road outside The Waterloo pub on Friday, April 16.
Police have asked for extra doorstaff to be on duty for the small number of premises which will be open before the match.
They have also sought an agreement from licensees not to admit new drinkers until the visiting fans have set off home.
A major police escort will meet the expected 2,000 Millwall fans at a predetermined rendezvous point on the motorway before accompanying some fans to the designated “Millwall pub” for the day, The Market Tavern on Leeds Road.
Police expect the majority of Millwall fans will want to go straight to the Galpharm and they will be driven straight there. A large police presence will be retained at the pub before again accompanying them to the game.
Sgt John McFadzean, of the town centre policing team, said: “We are well prepared and hopefully everything will go without a hitch.
“It might be advantageous that it’s an early kick off.
“The Millwall fans will have had to leave at about 5.30am in the morning and hopefully that will influence things. It will also stop a lot of fans from being able to drink before the game.
“At present, the pubs that plan to open will be The Cherry Tree on John William Street, the Lord Wilson and Yates’s on King Street.
“These are the ones we know of and I don’t think there will be many others. It has been agreed there will be door staff on duty.
“After the game the pubs in town will not admit new drinkers between 2pm and 3.30pm. The speed with which they open fully depends on the dispersal of the fans so we can’t be more specific than that.
“Regarding the Millwall fans they can visit the Market Tavern on Leeds Road before the match but nowhere after that because they will be making their way back to London.
“The coaches are being met at a pre-arranged motorway service station and escorted into Huddersfield by police.”
The location of the meeting point is not being disclosed for operational reasons.
“There will be a police presence at the Market Tavern and police spotters from Millwall.”
The police added that they would not yet divulge who would remain in their seats after the end of the play off.
Sgt Fadzean said: “There will be a decision made by the commander on the day, probably 15 minutes before the end, it won’t be something that is set in stone.
“The policing operation is probably on the scale of the visit from Leeds for the lunchtime kick off a few weeks ago.”

Huddersfield Town and Millwall fans arrested after Waterloo violence
SUSPECTED HOOLIGANS who clashed before Huddersfield Town’s last game against Millwall have been arrested – hours before the two clubs were due to meet in the play-offs.
Police arrested 13 fans from both clubs – including a 14-year-old Huddersfield boy – in swoops in London and Huddersfield on Wednesday and yesterday.
And police have confirmed more than 20 others are still being sought.
All those arrested were given police bail with strict orders to stay away from the League One play-off games at the Galpharm at 12.15pm today and at Millwall at 7.45pm on Tuesday.
The action follows a mass brawl involving up to 60 people outside the Waterloo Tavern pub on Wakefield Road in Waterloo on April 16.
Det Insp Jim Griffiths, who has been leading a special team set up to investigate the ugly incident, said the crackdown should send out a message.
“This kind of violence will not be tolerated,” he said.
“We have clearly shown by the arrests we have made this week that it won’t be tolerated in Huddersfield and any future disorder of this type will be dealt with just as vigorously and in the same manner.”
The violence on April 16 flared as Millwall fans arrived for the last meeting of the two sides of the regular season.
Missiles were thrown at a passing Millwall coach which had stopped at the lights.
Other mini buses carrying Millwall fans then arrived, the cue for a mass fight. Opposing fans then fought running battles along Wakefield Road with pool cues, bottles and bricks.
Det Insp Griffiths said the incident shocked innocent members of the public – but had not been pre-planned.
“There were a number of people just going home or going about their daily business,” he said.
“It was a shocking event for them, but was a one-off incident.
“We believe it was a spontaneous event.”
West Yorkshire Police travelled to Lewisham, south-east London, on Wednesday to arrest eight men aged 30 to 53.
They then arrested a further five men, aged 14 to 27, in Huddersfield.
Officers say they have CCTV of more than 20 others who they will be seeking to arrest.
They hope to charge the men with football-related disorder.
But Det Insp Griffiths was keen to encourage law-abiding football fans to enjoy today’s game.
He said: “We have had a full season of good natured support at Huddersfield with no disorder and this was a one-off incident.
“There is a large police operation for today’s game, not just at the ground but in the town centre to make sure people are safe.”
His message was echoed by Insp Adrian Waugh, who is in charge of Huddersfield South Neighbourhood Policing Team.
high-visibility presence at the game and in town to reassure supporters, the public and businesses.
“Saturday is clearly a popular time for shoppers and I would like to reassure any visitors that the appropriate resources will be in place to ensure that the town is enjoyed by all,” he said.
Supt David Lunn, who has been in charge of planning the police operation, added: “We are working closely with both clubs and our partners to create a pleasant and safe atmosphere and allow everyone to enjoy the day.
“There will be a police presence at both the ground and in the wider area to ensure that a very small minority do not spoil the day for the majority of genuine fans who will be attending.”

Fans arrested at Galpharm Stadium after play-off clash
Three supporters were arrested after trouble broke out at the end of the first leg of the League One play-off game between Huddersfield and Millwall.
Police with batons entered the visiting fans' area of Huddersfield's Galpharm Stadium as bottles were thrown on the pitch between both sets of supporters.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said three Millwall fans were arrested for public order offences.
He said the trouble was quickly brought under control after the goalless match.
'Bit ugly'
The spokesman said: "There was an outbreak of minor disorder at today's Huddersfield Town versus Millwall game, where police had to draw batons to secure order at the ground."
A spectator, who did not want to be named, said: "It kicked off in the Millwall end behind the goal.
"They started lobbing bottles and things and they all rushed to the bottom corner, where the Huddersfield fans were.
"The Huddersfield fans were also throwing stuff back at them and it all got a bit ugly.
"The police stopped it fairly swiftly by forming a cordon and pushing the Millwall fans back up the stand."
Thirteen football supporters were banned from Saturday's game after they were arrested earlier in the week on suspicion of violent disorder.
The arrests, eight in London and five in Huddersfield, followed trouble at a fixture between the two clubs last month.

Mother of wounded hooligan allowed visit after week - 11/05/2010
The mother of soccer hooligan Mario Galic who was wounded during riots after a match on 1 May in Zagreb, has been allowed to visit her son for the first time in a week.
Simica Galic went to see her son yesterday (Mon) having not been allowed to see him since he was hospitalised because of a pre-trial investigation into the violence on Saturday that left a police blind and Galic with a bullet wound.
Galic was shot by a policeman when fighting broke out at Maksimir stadium after a match between Zagreb's Dinamo and Split's Hajduk teams. Several of Galic's organs were pierced by the bullet and he had to undergo two surgeries.
The policeman later said had intended to fire a shot of warning but instead shot Galic by accident when the football hooligan attacked him.
Galic's lawyer Alan Blagajac, however, claims that his client had been shot from a police car some metres away.
Before being transferred to the hospital, Galic was held handcuffed at the police station for several hours. The police say they were unaware of his injuries and that Galic did not complain, but witnesses say that he could not have done so considering that he was half-conscious most of the time.
The riots that broke out at Zagreb's soccer stadium left several people injured, including Galic and a policeman who lost an eye when hooligans threw a firecracker at his face.
