Scotland : Three more suspected football hooligans arrested - 02/05/2014
Source : http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com
Three people have been arrested in Edinburgh as the covert phase of Operation Wolf continued in Edinburgh.
Officers from the Specialist Crime Division carried out a number of intelligence-led searches at various properties to disrupt the activities of those believed to be involved in serious and organised crime.
As a result, a 35-year-old woman and two men aged 24 and 32 were all arrested on warrant offences.
The arrests followed a number of detentions, also made yesterday, in relation to the large-scale disturbance at the International Bar on Sunday.
Operation Wolf teams visited several homes throughout the city and made six arrests in connection with the incident, which left two men injured.
Police are warning those involved in all forms of crime that Operation Wolf enforcement days will continue, as local policing teams look to address the issues members of the public have identified as community priorities.
Superintendent Matt Richards, who is leading on Operation Wolf said: “Throughout this operation, members of the public will notice a high-visibility police presence across the city during our many enforcement days.
“However, we will also continue to target criminals covertly and to those we are hunting, I can assure you that you won’t see us coming.
“Our communities have identified various issues and concerns they wish us to address and we are responding accordingly.
“Anyone wishing to report crimes of any nature or highlight an ongoing community matter, which requires a police response can contact 101 or speak to their local policing team.”

Fiorentina - Napoli - Italian Cup Final - 03/05/2014
Gunfire injures three Naples fans ahead of Italy final
Three Napoli football fans have been injured by gunfire in Rome before the Italian cup final between Napoli and Fiorentina, Italian media report.
All three fans were taken to hospital, at least one in a serious condition.
Reports say a policeman and passer-by were also hurt in the violence on the outskirts of Rome where fans were gathering before the match.
The game, due to start at 21:00 local time (19:00 GMT), was delayed by more than half an hour.
The circumstances of the shootings are unclear but clashes between rival fans were reported outside the match venue - the Olympic Stadium in the Tor di Quinto district.
However, police have suggested the shootings do not appear to have been linked to this violence.
Officials say they do not exclude the involvement of "ultra" supporters of local team AS Roma, who threw stones and bottles at police.
The most severely injured man, a 30-year-old Napoli supporter, was apparently shot in the chest.
Other injuries were also caused by firecrackers, reports say.
A pistol used in the shootings has been recovered, AGI news agency reports.
There were disturbances inside the stadium with reports of firecrackers and smoke bombs being thrown.

Bristol Rovers - Mansfield Town - 03/05/2014
Source : http://www.bristolpost.co.uk
After 94 years as a Football League side, Bristol Rovers were relegated from League Two following a 1-0 home defeat by Mansfield Town this afternoon.
On the final whistle, angry fans invaded the pitch at the Memorial Stadium, and vented their anger in the direction of the board of directors who were sat in Box One.
Police on horseback were called on to clear the pitch as angry Rovers' fans in the Blackthorn End tried to head to the Mansfield supporters.
Missiles were also thrown as the fans poured on to the pitch and police using batons waded in to repel the Rovers fans. A police spokesperson said: “Police have been deployed to keep fans separated. There has been some arrests but at the moment we are unable to release any further information.”
Police on horseback and foot are trying to clear the main car park.

Brazil football fan killed in Recife at stadium
A Brazilian football fan has died after being hit by a toilet bowl thrown at the end of a Second Division match in the north-eastern city of Recife.
Paulo Ricardo Gomes da Silva was struck as clashes took place near one of the entrances to Arruda stadium.
Another three people were reportedly hurt as toilet bowls were ripped out of stadium facilities and hurled at rival fans below.
Recife is one of the host cities of the World Cup, due to start on 12 June.
But the matches will be hosted at another stadium in Recife, the Arena Pernambuco, which has been especially built for the tournament.
Brazil's football association decided on Saturday to ban matches in the Arruda stadium until a court of sport has ruled on the case.
The clashes took place on Friday night after local side Santa Cruz drew 1-1 with Parana, from southern Brazil.
The visiting side's fans were leaving the stadium when the toilet bowls were thrown out of the upper tiers of the Arruda stadium.
Police had told the visiting fans to leave the stadium earlier to avoid clashes, local reports said. But they were ambushed by a faction of the Santa Cruz fans.
An investigation has begun into the incident. Earlier this year, Santa Cruz supporters hurled toilet bowls at fans of their local rivals, Sport.

Slovakia: Slovan Bratislava - MFK Košice - Cupfinal - 01/05/2014
Outside the stadium a fight opposed hooligans from both teams. Three Kosice supporters were wounded, including one who was found uncounscious after he was hitted with a rock. It seems Sparta Prague hooligans were also there to confront Slovan ones. Then, inside the stadium, 30 to 40 Slovan hooligans invaded the pitch and tried to reach Kosice stand but security intervened.

Alyaksandr Marozau (Alexander Morozov), the leader of BATE football fans, was arrested yesterday evening by policemen in Barysau.
At the moment the young man is waiting for the trial. It is possible that the detention of the fan is related to the today’s visit of Barysau-Arena by the leader of the state, barysau.by reports.
We remind that on March 26 this year Alyaksandr Marozau was sentenced by a court to 5 days’ arrest for a poster in support of Ukrainian Maidan.

Italy : Napoli fan fights for life in hospital after Rome football violence - 04/05/2014
Source : http://www.theguardian.com
Ciro Esposito is one of three Napoli supporters treated for gunshot wounds after clashes before Coppa Italia final
A 27-year-old football fan is fighting for his life in a Rome hospital following some of the worst football-related violence seen in Italy.
Ciro Esposito was among three Napoli fans taken to hospital with gunshot wounds during violent clashes before Saturday night's final of the Coppa Italia, Italy's equivalent of an FA Cup final. A fourth man, Daniele De Santis, was under police guard in hospital accused of attempted murder.
De Santis, 48, is one of Italy's best-known "Ultras", the organised fans associated with much of the violence that surrounds the game in Italy. He was reported to be suffering from serious head injuries.
Napoli beat Fiorentina 3-1 to take the cup after a match in the capital's Stadio Olimpico that was delayed for 45 minutes because of the shootings.
Five police, two stewards and a firefighter were also reported injured in clashes that swirled through the northern part of Rome before the kick-off. Fans of the two sides, some masked or hooded and wielding staves, fought one another and turned on police struggling to keep them apart.
There had earlier been a clash at a service station outside Rome between Fiorentina and Napoli supporters.
But the worst violence appeared not to stem from the rivalry between the two sides in the final, but from enmity between Napoli and the local side, AS Roma. De Santis, a leader of AS Roma's Ultras, was found unconscious near a stall he owns on a main road leading into the city.
According to Italian media reports quoting police sources, De Santis was suspected along with others of having ambushed a party of Napoli fans, using smoke bombs. When they responded by attacking him, he was said to have pulled out a gun and begun shooting.
In another version, it was the Napoli supporters who started the violence by assaulting De Santis, well known to other fans by the pseudonym of Gastone. Doctors said the bullet that hit Esposito, a carwash attendant from the Naples suburb of Scampia, went through his lung and lodged in his spine.
In 2004, De Santis was one of the central figures in an astonishing display of the power wielded by Italy's violent fan groups. He was among the Ultras leaders who ordered that a Roma-Lazio derby be called off after a false rumour was spread that police had killed a child. De Santis was brought to trial in connection with the incident, but the charges against him were timed out by a statute of limitations.
Saturday night's final was also in doubt, as Napoli's Ultras pressed for a suspension in view of the shootings. Following talks involving the club's midfielder Marek Hamšík the game went ahead, but with most of the fans of both sides watching in silence.
In another controversial incident, whistling from the terraces drowned out the singing of the Italian national anthem before the start. The mayor of Rome, Ignazio Marino, called the violence "shameful and intolerable".

Budućnost (Montenegro) - Győr ETO (Hungary) - Ladies Handball Champions League final - 04/05/2014
While crowd trouble is usually associated with testosterone fuelled sports like football or even darts, violence erupted in the stands during the Ladies Handball Champions League final in Budapest on Sunday.
Hungarian team Gyori Audi KC's 27-21 victory over Montenegro's RK Buducnost in the EHF Final Four Handball game was not met with approval from a group of Buducnost supporters.
Fans clashed with rivals and were pictured tearing off chair seats before throwing them at a gathering of increasingly worried stewards.
One fan in particular, wearing what appeared to be a No 10 football shirt, seemed to be at the centre of the trouble, which eventually saw a small army of riot police brandishing batons called in to calm the chaos.

Panathinaikos and PAOK fans throw flares and seats as Greek Super League play-off in Athens turns violent
Violence erupted at the Greek league play-off between Panathinaikos and PAOK in Athens on Sunday as rival supporters threw flares and seats at each other and riot police.
The match at the Apostolos Nikolaidis stadium was delayed by nearly half-an-hour as the authorities struggled to regain control, while officials and players from both clubs had to appeal for calm.
Visiting supporters are not usually permitted at Greek Super League matches but an exception was made for this end-of-season fixture.
The trouble started when the 600-strong group of PAOK fans entered the stadium and soon both sets of fans were throwing flares, fireworks and seats over the dividing fence.
Several fans spilt on to the pitch to try and join in the violence, before riot police moved in to disperse the crowds.
The presidents of both clubs, Giannis Alafouzos of Panathinaikos and Ivan Savvidis of PAOK, walked over to the warring fans to urge them to stop.
The match eventually started at 9pm local time, half-an-hour behind schedule, and finished 1-1.
It is the second time in a month that these two sets of supporters have clashed, with the Greek Cup final on April 26 disrupted as flares and fireworks were thrown.

Italy calls for crackdown on football hooligans - 05/05/2014
Source : http://www.wantedinrome.com
Three shootings before cup final in Rome
Italy's interior minister Angelino Alfano has threatened tougher measures for soccer hooligans in the wake of the violence that marred the weekend's Italian Cup Final at Rome's Stadio Olimpico.
Italy is now considering issuing offenders with lifetime bans from stadiums, following the violent scenes around the eagerly-awaited Napoli-Fiorentina final on the evening of 3 May.
The pre-match clashes in the Tor di Quinto district near the stadium allegedly began after Napoli's hardcore "ultra" fans were insulted by a well-known Roma “ultra” who then shot and wounded three of them, one of them critically.
Subsequently the match was delayed amid ugly scenes, during which the Napoli team captain Marek Hamsik apparently negotiated with the Napoli ultra leader Gennaro De Tommaso who eventually seemed to give the authorisation to let the game begin.
Authorities have since played down the discussion between Hamsik and De Tommaso, saying that no authorisation was sought from the ultras and that there was never any suggestion the game risked being called off.
Commentators and politicians have described the “shameful” spectacle, which took place in front of the country's premier Matteo Renzi as well as some nine million television viewers, as being reflective of the decline of Italian football and the failure of football adminstrators to deal effectively with hooligans.

Napoli fan banned 5 years after Italian Cup final incident - 06/05/2014
Source : http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com
A Napoli fan has been banned from attending matches for five years in the wake of violent scenes which marred Saturday's Italian Cup final and left a fellow supporter fighting for his life.
Violence flared before and during the match between Napoli and Fiorentina, which was delayed by 40 minutes and only went ahead after Napoli captain Marek Hamsik talked with the fans before kickoff in an effort to calm them.
The Napoli ultras leader who negotiated with Hamsik and police has been given the stadium ban for inciting violence. Gennaro De Tommaso was pictured wearing a T-shirt with the words `Speziale Libero' calling for the release of the Catania fan who threw a concrete block which killed a police officer in 2007.
