| RSC Charleroi - FC Bruges - 08/11/2008Source: mail (thanks to the sender) After their defeat of last season, Bruges lads phoned locals for a revenge. So, an off was taken by both sides for a 60vs60 far away from the city center on a car park. Locals (old faces + youth) were joined by some PSV lads. Locals went on the meeting point, waiting a phone call from Bruges side. Each time Bruges phoned it was the same thing "we arrive in 2 minutes". Locals waited for....30 minutes. Finally, a police helicopter arrived on the scene and locals tried to disappear without any sign of rivals. But, coming back to their cars, locals saw Bruges lads who waited in their cars !!! Some locals + PSV'ers were arrested by the large police presence. During the game, Bruges gave some news and requested an off on the motor way, refused by locals due to the non-presence before the game, at the fair off ! So, disappointed about the Bruges side for the 2nd season. It must be noticed Bruges firm was in the Charleroi area more than 1 hour before the meeting and there were only a few minutes by cars from their situation to the meeting point. Part of locals at the meeting poing

| Panathinaikos - Olympiakos Pireus - 09/11/2008Source: Ekathimerini Fouls and flares mar soccer derbyOlympiakos remains top of soccer’s Super League after a fractious derby against cross-town rivals Panathinaikos that was short on quality, but which resulted in 11 yellow cards. The draw leaves the Piraeus club on 20 points, one ahead of PAOK which beat Panionios 2-0 on Saturday. Panathinaikos is stuck in fifth place with 15 points. A bad-tempered first-half at the Olympic Stadium was littered with fouls and there was little in the way of good soccer for a sell-out crowd. Panathinaikos should have had a penalty in the 21st minute when striker Vangelis Mantzios was brought down by defender Avraam Papadopoulos but the referee waved play on. The second half also provided few moments of goalmouth action. Panathinaikos played better and created some decent chances but Olympiakos goalkeeper Antonis Nikopolidis proved equal to whatever the home side could throw at him. The game had to be interrupted for five minutes when flares thrown onto the running track around the pitch set fire to ticker tape and toilet roll that had been thrown a little earlier. Fans and TV viewers were treated to the surreal sight of a fire engine making its way around the pitch to put out the fire. | |

| Ban for football fan who hit horse - 10/11/2008
Source: Bolton News
A FOOTBALL fan has been banned from attending matches for three years after hitting a police horse.
Stoke City fan Shaun Allen was at the Reebok Stadium for the clash with Bolton Wanderers on August 16.
Allen, of Cross Heath, Staffordshire, was with a group of about 15 Stoke fans who were drinking outside the stadium at 4.45pm, Bolton Magistrates’ Court heard.
A police officer took a can off Allen and asked the group to move on, but Allen became abusive.
Mark France, prosecuting, told the court that Allen struck the horse and ran off, but was arrested by other police officers.
On Friday he pleaded guilty to causing harassment, alarm and distress.
He was given a football banning order, which will last three years and was fined £200. He was also ordered to pay £100 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Centeno dallied over leaving the field and around one dozen police came on to hurry him up. Other Aurora players leapt to Centeno's defence and aimed karate kicks at the police, who responded by using pepper spray. At one point, Aurura goalkeeper Silvio Dulcich picked up a corner flag to use as a weapon against the officials. The referee appeared to abandon the game at one stage but changed his mind after Wilstermann protested. | Zimbabwe : Dynamos FC - CAPS United - 09/11/2008Source : New Zimbabwe.com Dynamos riots that shamed footballDYNAMOS could face a huge Premier League fine and are almost certainly out of the CBZ FA Cup after their rampaging fans caused the abandonment of their semi-final clash with CAPS United 10 minutes from the end on Sunday. United led 2-1 in the Harare derby. Assistant referee Ngoni Bouyed received medical attention after being hit on the head with an object as Dynamos fans vented their frustrations over a decision by referee Tendai Bwanya not to award a penalty claim. Dynamos midfielder Justice Majabvi went down under the challenge of Blessing Mazorodze on the edge of the United box. Dynamos fans around the packed Rufaro Stadium wanted a penalty – but they got neither that, nor a free kick. Objects, including beer bottles and stones, rained on the pitch. Bwanya was finally forced to call off the match for the safety of the players and his officials. United will likely be awarded the match when the matter is discussed by the PSL disciplinary committee, and Dynamos can expect a huge fine for failing to control their fans. Out of time and out of luck, Dynamos fans finally intervened – turning the match into a shameful spectacle. Fleeing the terror spread on the stands, some CAPS United fans sought sanctuary on the Rufaro pitch. Medics attended to a young boy who had a blood-stained shirt strapped around his head. Another CAPS United fan, identified by his shirt, lay on the pitch wreathing in agony. Police riot squads patrolled the area outside the stadium and moved in to disperse the Dynamos fans still inside the stadium. It was not immediately clear whether anyone had been arrested over the violence.

| Hooligan's jail term cut bid - 11/11/2008
Source : The Star A BRADFORD City football hooligan jailed for an attack on a group of Rotherham United fans is appealing against his sentence.
Daniel Wright, aged 24, a member of the notorious Bradford Ointment "firm" was part of a gang which attacked a group of Rotherham fans outside a pub when a game between the clubs was postponed in December last year.
Wright, of Greenholme Court, Holme Wood, Bradford, was jailed for 27 months in August and banned from attending games after admitting affray.
A police video of the incident showed the 24-year-old throwing punches at Rotherham United fans outside the Windmill Inn in Bradford.
A sign was also hurled into the group of Rotherham fans after a member of the Bradford group called them outside for a fight and a stand-off ensued.
The Rotherham fans were described as having been drinking, but friendly, by bar staff.
Mr Justice Lloyd Jones and Mr Justice Griffith Williams, sitting at London's Appeal Court adjourned the case to allow them to see the police video before making a decision.

| Hooligans 'won't win the derby' - 13/11/2008
Source : Blackpool Gazette
FANS have been warned hooligans will not be tolerated at Blackpool's derby clash with Preston North End. Police and Blackpool FC chiefs have vowed to clamp down on anyone who causes trouble at Sunday's match.
Ugly scenes marred both of last year's games when Seasiders' fans trashed a Preston bus en route to Deepdale and a number of fans received banning orders for homophobic chanting at Bloomfield Road.
Karl Oyston, chairman of Blackpool FC, said: "If fans step out of line they will be getting a knock on the door. The police and the club aren't going to tolerate that sort of thing. People have got to realise they are coming to watch a football game in a safe family environment.
"There will be the partisan element and they will be supporting the team in a vocal and vociferous way.
"That is absolutely fine and that's completely the nature of the industry but there is certain behaviour that is absolutely unacceptable and won't be tolerated by either the police or the club.
"I will work very closely with the police, as we have done for the last couple of seasons.
"They have got things in place to make sure that if there is a repeat of last year's behaviour then we'll be able to hold people to account."
Police said they were pleased with the overall behaviour of fans but warned they would come down hard on supporters who stepped out of line.
Supt Richard Debicki, operations chief at Blackpool Police, said: "It's a local derby that lots of people look forward to, and our job is to make sure that people can watch the match safely.
My message to anybody who might think about causing problems is to stay away because the police will take action against you, making arrests where necessary.
"Any unacceptable and unlawful behaviour will be dealt with quickly and robustly."
Online fans message forums in the build-up to the game have already been lit up with vitriolic and racist messages.
On the message boards, Preston fans ramped up tensions ahead of the powder keg clash by writing incendiary messages on fans' forums.
One poster on a website associated with Blackpool hooligan group The Muckers taunted Blackpool fans.
Posting as Badge, the thug said: "I'm hoping for a better turnout from your lads after last season's poor effort. It's bad enough being chased out of a pub, but then needing a escort back to the station for your own protection. Oh dear."
On fans website Another View From the Tower (AVFTT), A_Block_Tangerine said fans in the ground's A block should throw coins into the away fans area before "storming" the stand.
Another two posters encouraged the singing of racist chants towards the Preston fans.

| Greece : After crime, punishment must follow - 13/11/2008
Source : Kathimerini Across the country people were shocked by the cold-blooded murder of a football fan in Paeania in March 2007 by a group of hooligans from an opposing team. It was a crime that screamed out for justice and the people of Greece demanded that the guilty parties be punished.
The country’s judges face a difficult and important task. They must weigh up all the evidence against any extenuating circumstances and must be as strict as possible in their decision.
We cannot tolerate sports fans engaging in turf wars, just as we cannot have football clubs supporting hordes of hooligans under the guise of fan associations, especially in this day and age.
An example must be made of the person or persons found guilty of the killing. Their sentences should reflect society’s response to the organized crime of hooligans.
The football clubs also have an obligation to fight the crime that flourishes under their banners, and if they don’t, then the state must oblige them to do so.

| Chelsea FC - Burnley - Carling Cup - 12/11/2008
Source : Eurosport
Police probing Drogba coin incident
The Metropolitan Police are investigating a coin-throwing incident involving Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and Burnley supporters.
Drogba appeared to fling a coin into the crowd after scoring in Chelsea's shock Carling Cup defeat at Stamford Bridge, claiming it had been thrown at him by Burnley fans.
A police spokesperson said: "We are investigating the incident as a whole. It's obviously very early stages at the moment."
Chelsea crashed out on penalties to the Championship side and, despite scoring his first goal of the season, Drogba's night was further soured after clashing with visiting supporters.
The 30-year-old's celebrations were cut short after scoring the opening goal in the 27th minute by several missiles thrown on to the pitch.
But Drogba, who gave the away fans a middle-finger salute, threw an object back and may now face an FA investigation and a possible misconduct charge.
Drogba, who was shown the yellow card for his actions, said: "This is something I want to make clear. I tried to celebrate the goal and I received some things at me.
"The big mistake I did was to throw it back so if someone was hurt, I just want to apologise for it.
"This is not something I should show in a football match and I want to apologise.
"It was an incident in the heat of the moment and I regret it. It was just a mistake and nothing more."
Drogba had put Chelsea ahead in their Carling Cup fourth-round tie with a superb curling effort into the bottom corner.
But a shock equaliser 20 minutes from time through Burnley's veteran striker Ade Akinbiyi stunned the Premier League side.
With the tie still level at 1-1 at the end of extra time, Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen, nicknamed 'The Beast' by his team-mates because of his size, saved from Wayne Bridge and John Mikel Obi to send Chelsea crashing out of the competition.
Chelsea will now await the referee's report before commenting further but Burnley manager Owen Coyle and Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scolari both denied seeing the incident.
Scolari said: "I have not spoken with Didier about any problem. The referee gave him a yellow card but I did not see what happened."
In 2002, Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was sent off in an FA Cup tie against Arsenal at Highbury after throwing a coin back into the crowd. He received a mandatory three-match ban.

Argentine football fans hijack buses
Fans of an Argentine soccer team were so desperate to get to a game on time that they hijacked two buses and forced the drivers at knifepoint to go faster. Police also said they robbed several passengers.
Sixty-three men and three women were arrested and charged Thursday, with most released from custody, police spokesman Walter Golia said Friday.
The fans of the second-division team Chacarita were heading to the game against Talleres in San Martin, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. They never made it to the game, which Chacarita won 3-2.

| Arrests over football violence in Aldershot - 14/11/2008
Source : Get Surrey
The chairman of Aldershot Town FC has promised to ban anyone who brings the club's name into disrepute after a series of arrests.
Three adults and six juveniles were arrested in Aldershot, Farnborough, Fleet and Guildford on Friday morning, in a police operation relating to football violence which occured before the Shots' home game against Swindon in September.
All nine were held under section four of the Public Order Act, accused of using threatening behaviour on September 2.
Superintendent Barry Talbot, deputy commander for the North and East Hampshire area, said: "We have been working closely with Aldershot Town Football Club for many years to ensure that home and away fixtures take place in a safe and orderly manner [and] to maintain a family friendly atmosphere at games.
"Unfortunately there are a small group of people who use matches as an excuse to behave in an anti-social and criminal manner.
"Let’s be clear, these people are not fans of Aldershot Town Football Club and have no desire to support the team."
Club chairman John McGinty commented: "We fully support the action taken by the police against those who think it is acceptable to use our club as an excuse to behave in an anti-social and often violent manner.
"Anyone found to have brought the name of the club into disrepute will be banned indefinitely."

| Blues fan, 60, hurt in Cup tie attack - 14/11/2008
Source : Bury Free Press
A football fan, who was punched during Bury Town Football Club's cup match against Alfreton Town, has been left with a two-inch gash to his forehead.
Keith Baker, 60, travelled with other fans to Bury FC's first-round FA Cup match in Derbyshire on Saturday, to meet his son Andy, who lives nearby.
A lifelong Bury Town fan, Mr Baker went to the home side's bar at half-time in the match, but was stunned to find himself in the middle of a fans dispute.
Mr Baker, of Manderville Road, Bury, said: "There was a good atmosphere on the day, it was fun to start, with a bit of banter between the fans.
"I heard a commotion then felt a searing pain in the head and the next thing I knew, I was covered in blood."
Paramedics were called and Mr Baker was taken to Kings Mill Hospital, in Sutton-in-Ashfield, but later discharged himself to travel home with other Bury fans.
At West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury, he had 11 stitches in the wound and has been left with a two-inch scar just half an inch from his eye.
Russell Ward, chairman of Bury Town FC, said he thought Mr Baker had been caught in the crossfire by hooligans out to cause trouble.
He said: "This seems to have been a premeditated attack on our fans and Keith was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"It is disappointing as they seem to have won the battle against hooligans at the professional level, but it seems to have filtered down to the leagues."
Derbyshire Police have launched an investigation into the incident but yesterday, no-one had been arrested for the assault.
The Football Association has launched an investigation and both Bury Town FC and Alfreton Town FC have been given seven days to respond to the claims.
Mr Ward said he had not been contacted by officials from Alfreton Town either to apologise for the attack or to check on Mr Baker's condition.
He said: "I am very disappointed we haven't heard anything.
"Win or lose, we went there to enjoy the day but now some people will remember it for all the wrong reasons."
Wayne Bradley, chairman of Alfreton Town FC, said the club was working with police and had launched an internal investigation into the matter, with witness statements being taken from fans, security officers and stewards at the match.
He said: "Obviously, the club is concerned for the individual and hopes he makes a speedy recovery."
