Patrice Evra Ejected From Game Before It Even Starts After Kicking Fan In The Head
Former Manchester United defender and current Marseille player Patrice Evra will not play in his team’s Europa League match today after he channeled his inner Eric Cantona and karate kicked a fan of his own team in the face.
According to reports from those on the scene in Portugal, Marseille fans had been heckling Evra during pregame warmups for a good half hour. At one point a group of hecklers came down from the stands and near the pitch-side ad boards, where they were confronted by an angry Evra. After an exchange of words, Evra kicked one of the fans.

Karate kick Evra suspended by Marseille, charged by UEFA - 04/11/2017
Source: https://www.lequipe.fr/
Patrice Evra was handed an initial one-match ban by UEFA and suspended by his club Marseille on Friday after the veteran defender aimed a karate kick at the head of one of his team's own supporters.
The former Manchester United star was red-carded for the assault during the pre-match warm-up at Thursday's Europa League clash at Guimaraes in Portugal. Marseille said that club president Jacques-Henri Eyraud had met the 36-year-old to inform him of the suspension and warned that he could face further "disciplinary action." "Marseille also denounced the unacceptable behaviour of some fans who hurled hateful insults," said a club statement. Earlier, European football governing body UEFA said Evra was banned for "violent conduct" and indicated that the former French international faced further sanctions at a disciplinary hearing next week. "Following his dismissal, the player is suspended for at least one match. The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body will decide on this case at its next meeting on 10 November," UEFA said in a statement Both Marseille and Guimaraes, who went on the win the tie 1-0, were also charged over their fans invading the pitch. Announcing their probe, Marseille said in a statement: "No matter what happens, a professional player must maintain self-control despite provocations and insults, no matter how unjustified they may be." Evra was confronted by a group of supporters who had managed to get out of an area in the Afonso Henriques ground reserved for around 500 Marseille fans.
'Learn to keep cool'
Stewards at the ground quickly intervened to break up the trouble, with Evra, who was originally listed as a substitute, ordered to return to the dressing room by the referee. "Pat has experience, and he must not react, it's obvious," said Marseille coach Rudi Garcia whose side lost the game 1-0 and also had Boubacar Kamara sent off three minutes from time. "Patrice is more than just an experienced player. You can't respond, of course, to insults, as bad as they are and as incredible as they might be because they come from one of our supporters. "He must learn to keep his cool. That's all I can say." Garcia, however, blasted the fan who taunted the 81-times capped Evra at the compact Portuguese stadium. "He's not a supporter of Marseille, because you can't insult your own players, you have to be behind all of us." The incident immediately brought back memories of another act of kung-fu kick madness by a French footballer. In January 1995, Eric Cantona, playing for Manchester United, launched a flying studs-first kick at a Crystal Palace supporter at Selhurst Park who had jeered him after he was sent off for kicking Eagles defender Richard Shaw. As he was walking towards the tunnel, Cantona launched himself feet first at Palace fan Matthew Simmons, who was shouting abuse at the enigmatic striker. Cantona, who was 28 at the time, was banned for eight months by the English Football Association whilst he was also stripped of the France captaincy by then-coach Aime Jacquet. He also faced a criminal charge of assault that led to an initial two-week prison sentence, commuted to 120 hours of community service on appeal. Evra has received heavy criticism for his performances this season and lost his place in the team to on-loan Aston Villa left-back Jordan Amavi. According to football statisticians Opta on Thursday: "Patrice Evra is the first player to be sent off before the start of a match in the history of the Europa League".

Royal Antwerp fans injure Charleroi's Cristian Benavente with smoke bomb
A football player was injured by a smoke bomb thrown by rival fans during Sporting Charleroi's 3-1 win at Royal Antwerp in the Belgian League on Sunday. Cristian Benavente dropped to the ground after being struck on the shoulder by an extinguished smoke bomb as he celebrated scoring his second goal, which had put Charleroi 2-1 up in the 28th minute.
The 23-year-old Peru midfielder had run over to the away fans near the goal. Antwerp coach Laszlo Boloni says Benavente "could have found some other place to go celebrate his goal." However, Benavente says "it wasn't my intention to provoke anyone, I simply continued running instinctively as I was celebrating."
Charleroi club secretary Pierre-Yves Hendrickx says his player should be absolved of any blame but thinks a possible punishment of Antwerp having to play a match behind closed doors would be too severe. "The league will do its job because our player received a smoke bomb on his head and that will be in the referee's report I suppose," he said. "So a fine will have to follow. It shouldn't go any further because the incident wasn't followed by another."

Police issue important safety advice for Everton fans ahead of Lyon Europa League match
Police have issued important safety advice for any fans travelling to France for Everton's Europa League fixture against Lyon on Thursday.
The Blues will be taking part in their fourth group stage match of the tournament - with their place in the competition hanging on a knife-edge having only gained one point from their previous three fixtures.
This is Everton's second European away fixture of the season, and police have issued some early advice to any fans planning on making the trip to France.
Chief Superintendent Chris Markey said: "We are working closely with the French authorities and Olympique Lyonnais to ensure this match can be enjoyed by all in a safe environment.
"While we understand and appreciate that many Everton fans will want to travel to Lyon, I would encourage fans who do not have tickets to not travel. There will be no opportunity to purchase tickets in the home section of the stadium in Lyon and the visitors section is sold out.
"For those travelling with tickets the Place Bellecour in the city centre is an ideal place for away fans, with lots of bars and restaurants. There will also be shuttle pick up and drop offs for away fans to and from the Groupama Stadium.
"I would advise fans not to venture too far away from this area and suggest that they take a common sense approach to the wearing and displaying of club colours if they do find themselves in other areas of Lyon city centre.
"Fans who are travelling with tickets are encouraged to monitor both the Club and force Twitter feeds for information to assist their visit. And as ever, we would encourage fans to arrive at the stadium in plenty of time to enjoy the atmosphere as there will be thorough ticket checks and searching to ensure the safety of all."
The last time Blues supporters were in France for a Europa League tie was against Lille in 2014 - where there was trouble between police and fans before the game which included some being tear-gassed by armed police.

Austrian club fined for fans’ racist abuse of opponent - 07/11/2017
Source : https://www.foxsports.com/
An Austrian third-division club has been fined 3,000 euros ($3,470) for racist chants by its fans during a cup match against top-flight team Altach which led to an opposition player being sent off. The Austrian Football Association says Union Gurten fans racially abused Altach’s Bernard Tekpetey in extra time of the Sept. 20 match after the Ghanaian striker scored the winning goal. Tekpetey reacted to the insults by gesturing toward the fans, and was sent off. The league disciplinary committee banned him for two matches, defending the referee’s decision despite acknowledging Tekpetey was provoked. Also, Union Gurten must participate in an anti-racism workshop. A two-time international for Ghana, the 20-year-old Tekpetey joined Altach on loan from Schalke in the offseason.
