Brawl as soccer fans clash

Trouble flared in Wolverhampton city centre this afternoon as football fans clashed.

Travelling supporters from Bristol City were involved in a brawl in Lichfield Street.

The trouble was close to the Moon Under Water and Rothwells pubs, where a number of Bristol supporters had been rounded up by police and appeared to be under arrest.

Both pubs were taped off and closed this afternoon and a large window at Rothwells had been smashed.

West Midlands Police helicopter was being used by officers to monitor the situation. Bristol City were expected to bring almost 3,000 fans to Molineux for today’s game.

RANGERS EXPECT NO TROUBLE - 06/11/2007

Source : SpotyingLife

Rangers security chief Kenny Scott is confident Wednesday's Champions League away clash with Barcelona will pass off without any trouble.

Around 20,000 Rangers supporters are expected to arrive in the city, many without tickets or with seats booked among Barcelona fans.

Just 5,000 tickets were made available to Rangers fans through official avenues, but the appeal of the Nou Camp clash means many more are expected to be inside the ground.

Rangers have been punished by UEFA for the behaviour of their supporters in matches against Villarreal and Osasuna in the past two seasons, and more trouble could result in the club's heaviest punishment yet from European football's governing body.

But head of security Scott expects the travelling fans to act responsibly, and believes the Catalonia police are prepared for every eventuality.

"I do not prepare for this trip with the same trepidation as I would have, had I been here a year ago," Scott told The Herald.

Scott added: "I believe there will be a crowd of 92,000 but the Barcelona authorities and the police seem fairly relaxed about the possibility of huge amounts travelling to the game.

"They are not convinced that many people will be able to obtain tickets in any case but if they do, they are confident they will be controlled."

AFC Bournemouth - Leeds United - 06/11/2007

Source : Dorset Echo

Game’s the winner as police hail fans

ONE of the most notorious sets of football fans came to Bournemouth on Tuesday night - but there was no repeat of the scenes of 1990.

Leeds United won 3-1 at Dean Court, 17 years after their last visit when supporters ran riot causing £1m worth of damage to the town.

A major police operation before, during and after the match kept disruption and trouble to a minimum and both the club and officers hailed it a success.

There were just nine arrests, three before kick-off and six later.

Offences included invading the pitch, being drunk, breaching a football banning order and public order.

But to the relief of all, it was much like any other match, apart from the huge police presence in the town.

advertisementA police spokesman said Tuesday night's operation had been "robust, intelligence-led and proportionate".

Dorset Police worked closely with club officials in the build-up to the match, which attracted a crowd of 8,599.

Bournemouth fans remembered 1990 as the worst hooliganism they have seen.

Stuart Orchard, 33, from Winton, recalled a man of about 60 being beaten up for his ticket - and the man's grand-daughter getting head-butted.

But on Tuesday, fans of the Yorkshire club were well behaved.

"1990 is all history now," said one.

Violence at the last two Leeds games against Millwall and Carlisle had raised concerns, but they proved unfounded.

The match had been specially arranged as an evening fixture after representations to the football authorities by AFCB and Dorset Police.

Police vans cruised around Boscombe and Springbourne for a time after the final whistle, but were not needed.

By contrast with 1990, the 2,000-plus Leeds fans headed straight home, another three points in the bag.

Portsmouth: Eight sought over Pompey pub fight - 01/11/2007

Source: http://www.portsmouth.co.uk

Police have issued images of men wanted in connection with a fight that broke out in a pub before a Pompey match.

They want to question these eight men about the incident, which happened in the Trafalgar Arms, Fratton Road, ahead of the club's 7-4 home win over Reading.

Nine people were arrested at the time.

Glasses were thrown and damage was caused to the pub in the brawl about 1pm on Saturday, September 29.

Police have been studying CCTV footage and have now released these images.

At the time of the fight there were about 40 Reading supporters and 18 Pompey supporters in the pub.

The large number of arrests has brought back memories of the riots after Pompey's match against Southampton in 2004.

Portsmouth City Council Leader Gerald Vernon-Jackson said: 'There's been a huge movement away from football violence in the city and it's crucial that continues if we have aspirations to play in Europe, which we do.

'It's disappointing to hear this has happened in Portsmouth.'

And MP for Portsmouth South Mike Hancock said: 'Hooliganism is terrible when it happens and I hope there is no more of it in Portsmouth.'

Only last month Pompey fans were named as among the best behaved in the Premiership.

Figures released earlier this month showed that just one banning order was handed down to fans between October 10, 2006, and August 9, this year.

Pompey fans also had the fifth lowest arrest rate, with a total of 27 arrests in 2006/7 – the same as in 2005/6. There were 26 arrests during Premier League matches at the club in 2006/7 plus one arrest at a cup match.

Officers are now asking that people should get in contact with them if they think they may know who any of those in the photos are.

They are also asking anyone who recognises themselves in the pictures to come forward of their own accord.

Anyone with information should contact football intelligence officer PC Paul Foley at Fratton Police Station on 0845 045 4545 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police alert for Sunderland and Newcastle fans - 07/11/2007

Source : Sunderland Echo

Extra police have been drafted in as part of a major operation to stamp out trouble at this weekend's derby match.
As the Black Cats and Magpies clash inside the Stadium of Light this Saturday, officers say they are prepared for any problems outside.

Fans on both sides are now being warned that no violence, before, during or after the match will be tolerated.

Teams of officers will be on patrol at the stadium to deal with any incidents and police are reminding fans that anyone who is arrested could find themselves with a criminal record and a blanket ban from future football matches.

Chief Superintendent Neil Mackay, head of the force's operations department, said: "We want both sets of fans to enjoy the game.

"For the small minority who are intent on causing trouble or being violent, my advice is to think again or stay away, otherwise face being arrested and banned from future games.

"The safety of fans is paramount and we'll be making sure there is no disruption around the stadium before and after the game and everyone enters and leaves safely.

"As a precaution we will be delaying the departure of Newcastle fans within the Stadium of Light while Sunderland fans leave.

"Newcastle fans will be allowed out of the stadium and onto the coaches waiting to take them back to St James's Park once all Sunderland fans have cleared the area."

Coaches are also available for Newcastle fans to take them from St James's Park to Sunderland.

Metro operator, Nexus, has also announced that it plans to close St Peter's metro station after the match from 2.30pm until about 3.45pm.

The car park will also be closed all day.

Nexus said the move follows advice from police and fans wanting to get home should use the Stadium of Light stop instead.

Mick Carbro, director of Metro, said: "The closure of St Peter's station is necessary for operational reasons after Saturday's match.

"When Sunderland play Newcastle we always go with the advice of the Northumbria Force and British Transport Police to ensure we have effective control measures in place and to ensure that there is no disruption on Metro."

Luton Town - Carlisle United - 06/11/2007

Source : Bedford Today

Fireworks thrown at Luton Town game

Five youths lob explosives into ground

Football fans at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night were horrified when youths lobbed fireworks in to the football ground during Luton Town's match with Carlisle United.

A loud bang alerted supporters to the explosives, which youths had lit in Beech Hill Path before throwing them over the surrounding wall.

Police believe there was a gang of five teenagers in the alleyway, but the youths ran off before they could be challenged.

One Luton Town season ticket holder said: "Someone was lucky not to be seriously injured. I'm amazed that that pathway isn't policed at all matches."

Nobody was hurt by the fireworks.

Beds Police football liason officer Pc Peter Palmer said Tuesday's game was low key in terms of policing, although the alleyway is policed at some matches.

He said the amount of officers policing matches usually increased before Guy Fawkes night because of the higher risk of firework trouble, but from now on there will also be more officers at matches in the days after November 5.

Club secretary Cherry Newbery refused to comment on the incident.

Napoli fans banned from Palermo game - 07/11/2007

Source : Reuters

Napoli fans have been banned from Saturday's Serie A game at Palermo because of concerns over the recent conduct of their fans, authorities said on Wednesday.
The body which monitors Italian soccer hooliganism said in a statement that events at games with Juventus, Reggina and Fiorentina had prompted the decision, which took into account Napoli fans' "propensity for illegal acts".
The Naples club have an avid fanbase but the supporters' joy at doing well in their first season back in the top flight since 2001 has become overzealous.
Napoli were already forced to play September's home game with Genoa behind closed doors after fans displayed offensive banners and threw bottles and smoke bombs at a previous match.
Their supporters were also banned from going to last month's league match at champions Inter Milan but around 1,000 managed to buy tickets and make a mockery of the measure.
Italy has been trying to clamp down on soccer violence after the death of a police officer during riots outside Catania's top-flight game with Sicilian rivals Palermo in February.
Juventus are still waiting to hear if they face any punishment for their fans' conduct during Sunday's 1-1 draw with bitter rivals Inter.
Kick-off was put back slightly after the Inter team coach was delayed on its way to the ground, where it was pelted with eggs by Juve fans.
Banners and chants insulting Inter's former Juve striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic inside Turin's Stadio Olimpico are also being investigated.

FC Barcelona - Glasgow Rangers - 07/11/2007

Source : Earthtimes

Three Rangers fans injured in Barcelona incidents

Three Glasgow Rangers fans have been injured in incidents ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash away to Barcelona. According to the digital version of Sport on Wednesday, none of the injured fans are in a serious condition, and their injuries have mostly been caused by broken glass, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

All three are being treated in the emergency unit at the Hospital de Mar in Barcelona.

Sport claims that around 700 Rangers fans have "provoked incidents" in the centre of Barcelona early Wednesday.

The local police have ordered several bars to close along the famous Ramblas, though they have not carried out any arrests.

In total, between 15,00 and 20,000 Rangers fans are in the Catalan capital, of whom only around 6,000 have tickets for the match.

Sparta Praha HOOLIGANS - 03/11/2007

Source : Prague Post

A group of hooligans broke into the AXA Arena, homefield of the Sparta Praha soccer team, and caused damage worth 20,000 Kč ($1,070) to the stadium’s facilities Nov. 3. In protest of Sparta’s recent poor play, the hooligans — all Sparta supporters — sprayed graffiti on the players’ bench. They also left a banner reading “Last warning” in the middle of the field. Sparta’s management has filed a criminal complaint against the unknown culprits.

Aris Salonique - Red Star Belgrade - 07/11/2007

Three Red Star fans stabbed in Thessaloniki ahead of UEFA Cup match with Aris

Three Red Star Belgrade fans were hospitalized with stab wounds Thursday after an attack by a group of 10 men at a cafeteria.

Police said the three men were stabbed in the legs and their injuries were non life-threatening.

The Serbian fans were in Greece for a UEFA Cup match against Aris Thessaloniki later Thursday.

The victims were sitting at a sea-front cafeteria when 10 men in motorcycle helmets attacked them with knives before running away, police said. A fourth Red Star fan, a woman, was unhurt.

Earlier, another two Red Star fans were hospitalized after being beaten up by unknown assailants.

Serbian fans assaulted with knives and chains

The Red Star club team and staff, media reporters and guests of the club who are staying in Holiday Inn Hotel were greeted with a nightmare welcome in Thessaloniki. In the night before the UEFA Cup Group stage match between Aris and Red Star a group of Belgrade club guests were assaulted in the city centre by fans of another Thessaloniki football club – PAOK, as Blic found out. The attackers used knives and chains while two more unidentified groups of people stabbed as many as thirteen Red Star travelling supporters Delije, as reported until 3pm CET.

What supposedly sparked off the attack was the baseball cap bearing the marks of Red Star warn by one of the club invitees – a 10-year-old Aleksandar Rankovic. His father, Jugoslav, a JAT Airlines company representative in Munich, has been transferred to hospital. The medical staff of the hospital would not allow Jugoslav Rankovic to be photographed, but he was more than ready to give a detailed account of the incident.
- “It was horrific. I think they were drunk – they just stormed at us and started beating us. First they kicked us, then they used fists and chains. They hit us all over – mostly on the head. They also tried to stab me in the stomach. Luckily, they only caught my right thigh and tore my trousers,” says Jugoslav.
Rankovic will be hospitalised due to hematoma on the right cheek and sinus bleeding. His forehead and nose are covered with gauze.
- “What matters is that my son Aleksandar is alive and well and that he managed the situation better than some of us adults. He immediately ran towards the nearest taxi vehicle, who called the police. I can only say to the thugs who beat me up that I’ll get even with them if they set foot in Belgrade, and I’m sure they wouldn’t have reacted as they did if they hadn’t operated as a pack,” adds Rankovic – a Serb living in Munich – who had wished to watch his favourite club play against Aris with his son.
- “All hell broke loose in a matter of seconds – we found ourselves running away from the attackers through the central streets of Thessaloniki, but a bunch of a dozen fans caught up with us and beat us up. We arrived all bloody at the hotel, but with minor injuries, luckily. Thankfully little Aleksandar was composed enough to run for help and found a taxi driver who took him to the police,” says Milan Selak, person in charge of the group of club invitees. Sasa Lazarevic, who works at the German embassy in Belgrade, also sustained light injuries.
As Blic understands from the Thessaloniki hospital, two nights ago a dozen Red Star supporters from the Serbian city of Nis, who arrived to Greece through Argus Turs travel agency, were attacked with knives and chains, some of whom were admitted to ER with minor injuries.
This unfortunately does not conclude the list of misfortunate events in Greece. Yesterday lunchtime three Red Star fans were stabbed in front of the Aristotle monument in downtown Thessaloniki. The men were sitting and chatting in a cafe owned by a celebrated Serbian basketball player, Predrag Stojakovic, wearing no club markings. Unlike the previous events, an emergency vehicle arrived at the scene instantly, while the police blocked the street and conducted investigation.

Serbian football fans clash with police after Red Star-Aris game

Police fired tear gas at rioting Serbian football fans early Friday after a UEFA Cup match between Red Star Belgrade and Aris Thessaloniki.

One policeman was injured and a Serbian fan was arrested on public disturbance changes, authorities said.

The violence erupted after Aris beat Red Star 3-0 Thursday, conceding all three goals in the last 13 minutes of the game.

Red Star fans gathered at a bus terminal and ripped out seats and metal parts from a tour bus, which they hurled at riot police.

Police had also clashed with Red Star fans before the game, confiscating flares and iron bars.

On Thursday, five Serbian fans were hospitalized with stab wounds after an attack by unknown youths in a Thessaloniki cafeteria. A hospital official said three of the wounded fans were released after receiving first aid.

Greek and Serbian football fans have a history of violence, with alliances forming between large supporters clubs in the two countries.

Tear gas used on clashing football fans

Greek police used tear gas to prevent further escalation of violence between Serbian and Greek football.

Greek side Aris and Red Star Belgrade played a UEFA Cup tie in Thessaloniki last night.

According to reports, a group of Greek fans, later joined by Serb fans, tried to get into the stadium without tickets.

“About 100 hooligans attacked the police with smoke bombs and stones. They were well prepared for such an attack,” a police official said, adding that no-one had been seriously injured during the clashes.

Reports said that fans of Aris’ rivals Olympiakos had also come to lend their support to Red Star.

Yesterday, three Red Star fans were stabbed with knives in a café in Thessaloniki, when they were attacked by a group of about ten young men. They were taken to hospital.

Police said that they were investigating the incident in order to find the culprits.

Police swoop on footy violence suspects - 09/11/2007

Source : Croydon Guardian

Ten men from south west London have been charged over a series of brutal attacks on a train full of football fans.

They were arrested yesterday during dawn raids carried out by British Transport Police on 17 addresses across south London, Sussex and Kent.

They include Stephen Edwards, 40, from Clapham, Robert Kennett, 45, from Wandsworth, Harvey Neenan, 44, from Tulse Hill, Clive Taylor, 34, from Thornton Heath, Leigh Bevis, 22, from Croydon and Darren Bush, 39, from Epsom.

Ashley White, 20, from Purley, Tommy Patience, 19, from New Addington, Danny Lehane, 21, from South Norwood and a 16-year-old from Purley, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have also been charged with violent disorder.

They have been bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on November 16, 19 and 20.

Passengers on a train containing Charlton Athletic fans travelling to Crystal Palace were randomly attacked by a group of up to 40 men who got on at Sydenham station on September 1 at around 2.20pm.

advertisementCCTV captured the attacks, which left a 24-year-old Charlton fan with a broken nose. Several other passengers were head butted, punched and verbally abused.

All the men charged have bail restrictions, including orders preventing them from attending certain football matches and from associating with certain individuals.

Four other men from Dartford, Caterham, Worthing and Ashford were also charged.

The men face up to five years in prison if found guilty of violent disorder.

One man arrested at an address in south London has additionally been granted police bail in relation to a firearms offence.

BTP Detective Inspector Keith Bennett said: "Members of the travelling public, including law-abiding football fans, have the right to travel in safety and without fear of being assaulted or abused."

10 held in hooligan raids - 09/11/2007

Source : Liverpool Echo

TEN people including a 16-year-old boy were arrested today in a swoop on suspected Liverpool football hooligans.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers were involved in a string of dawn raids across Merseyside.

The raids follow a mass brawl on a train after the Reds played Wrexham in a pre-season friendly at the Racecourse Stadium on July 7.

After the match, which Liverpool won 3-2, fighting broke out on the Arriva service from Wrexham to Chester.

As the train approached the Cheshire station, officers from BTP were called to reports of a man being attacked.

Two men from Wrexham were badly injured when they were repeatedly punched and kicked by Liverpool FC fans.

Many of the offenders fled but the attack was captured on CCTV.

Eighty officers from BTP together with Merseyside police raided 13 addresses in Liverpool, Wirral, St Helens and Wrexham at around 8am today.

A 43-year-old man from Walton, two men aged 18 and 19 from Prescot, three men aged 18 from Huyton, a boy of 17 from Prenton, a boy of 17 from Bootle, a boy of 16 from St Helens and a 20-year-old man from Liverpool, were held on suspicion of violent disorder. They were taken into custody and were expected to be questioned later today.

Det Insp Steve Lewis from BTP said: “This morning we’ve executed a series of raids in Merseyside as part of an ongoing investigation into violent disorder following the Wrexham v Liverpool pre-season friendly earlier this year.

“Members of the public have a right to travel in safety and without the fear of violence on the railway and today’s operation underlines our commitment to crack down on football-related disorder on the network.”

If convicted they could face football banning orders to prevent them travelling to watch Liverpool play.

Feyenoord and Ajax meet in tense bid for top spot - 09/11/2007

Source : Reuters

A potentially explosive game between arch-rivals Feyenoord and Ajax Amsterdam on Sunday will decide which team tops the Dutch table going into the international break.
It will also test whether the clubs have managed to control the violence and ill feeling that has dogged the fixture in recent years.
"There are limits to what we consider acceptable," the clubs said in a joint statement.
"Healthy rivalry is beautiful and belongs to this match. Fans can support their team several ways but chants referring to the persecution of Jews or the bombing of Rotterdam (during World War Two) will not be tolerated."
Rival supporters have a violent history stretching back three decades, the low point coming with the death of two Ajax hooligans who were killed during a clash in a meadow near Beverwijk in 1997.
The clubs say insulting banners will be confiscated at the entrances and that several cameras will monitor where any abusive or insulting chants start in the crowd.
They have both also said that if the rules are broken, they could decide to ban visiting fans for five years.
With 24 points from 10 matches Ajax are top on goal difference from Feyenoord, who have staged a comeback after finishing seventh in the first division last season.
Ajax, managed by Adrie Koster who succeeded Henk ten Cate after he left for Chelsea, will still be missing Edgar Davids, who broke his shinbone before the start of the season.
Brazilian winger Leonardo, who joined the Feyenoord youth department as a teenager, is sidelined with a knee injury but international Urby Emanuelson returned to training this week after knee problems.
Ajax made a struggling start to the season with an early exit from the UEFA Cup after Slavia Prague kept them out of the Champions League group stage. But they have scored 31 goals in 10 domestic games with Klaas Jan Huntelaar scoring 11 and Luis Suarez seven.
Feyenoord, who have won eight and lost two, have been mean at the back with seven clean sheets so far after conceding 66 goals in 34 matches last season.
Feyenoord will be without attacking midfielder Nicky Hofs, who has a knee injury but will welcome back winger Andwele Slory, who made his debut in the first match of the season but then suffered a foot injury.

All that happened in Thessaloniki - 10/11/2007

Source : Mail

1. At the Wednesday- Thursday midnight 2 bigger incidents occured where several Red star fans were injured (one stabbed). In the incident one 10-15 hooligans attacked 3 Serbian civils, one seriously injured Jugoslav Ranković (42) with 3 leg injuries/ rather cuts, nose injury which is considered as a serious one and a few chain- strokes on his head.
The latter incident, just after the first one, occured to the guests of Olimpium hotel, Serbs of course, when 4 of them were attacked by a group of fans again with masks wore in black screaming "Gypsies, this is PAOK" as Serbs decribed.
All assumptions say those were PAOK fans and in that attack Branko Jokić (39) is seriously injured having also cuts of knives.
Both Jokić and Ranković were hospitalized in Arhepa out of life-danger, as a Serbian special consular Dimitrijević reported.

Serbian consular also said that as time closing up to the match kick off the situation was getting worse and intense. So the incidents were more and more.

Those were the similar situations where Greek hooligans masked in black attacking all our civils with Red star's wear and stuffs, said Dimitrijević.

Also another incident is known when 4 Serbs in Cafe "Garson" were attacked and injured. according to the momental datas that one was Trifunović Lazar, and other 2 Gajić Rajko and Gajić Dragan. All 3 out of life danger and hospitalized at Ipokratio (sp?).

2. 1.000 Red Star fans were arriving at Thessaloniki Wednesday and Thursday during the day. Serbian consulate were in continuous contacts with Greek government and police forces assuming that they were isolating the Red star fans' convoy in order to avoid bigger conflicts in City, also the Greek border zone.

3. Meanwhile, another incidents happened downtown of Thessaloniki. One of them was when Red Star fans visited Cafe owned by ex- PAOK and popular NBA player Peđa Stojaković. The attackers were unknown nor wearing some specific team stuffs. Also another Red Star fan was stabbed, many others beaten and punched/kicked. They were hospitalized and taken care of in Thessaloniki.

Also some other reports from Serbian media, not confirming that the following incident is the same one as that with Cafe of Stojaković. It says that 3 guys were stabbed and got cut on their legs. A female that was with them hadn't been attacked nor touched. Then an attacking group of 10 unknown persons with no any wear nor stuff describing a specific fan group or club disappeared into unknown direction.

4. Apparently in Thessaloniki some hours before the match's kick off many fan groups were found in Thessaloniki like Gate 7 and all other local teams' groups: Iraklis, PAOK, Aris. Several incidents were spotted between Serbian and Greek fans. Gate 7 was on top of interest of all after they promised and were actually coming to support "Delije" which would further cause the conflicts between the Greek groups

" We follow and take care of our copatriots as much as we can", said Dimitrijević the consular.

5. No major problems and incidents whilst the match closing to its kick off, a couple of hours before police handled the situation solidly. Just before the start Greek police uses even a tear gas to stop some more violance between Red Star and Greek football hooligans in front of the stadium where Aris and Red star were about to play in the UEFA F group matchday.

It is also reported that a group of Red star fans joined by a group of Greeks tried to get in the stadium without tickets.
Around 100 hooligans attacked police by gas bombs and stones "obviously well prepared for the incidents" as one policeman said. Fortunately no serious injuries.

6. Red star fans missed a big part of the game. First group was let come in after 25 minutes approximately and on the half time ,they were quite completed on their stand. Some guessing said that they were around 500, not 800 as firstly expected, but some of them didn't come in for obvious safety reasons.

7. Some Olympiakos banners were seen there, which caused Aris fans' negativity and booing on stands, also whenever a new group of Red Fans were in, same happened. Apart from some cursing which is "normal" for football games these days, no bigger incidents on stands.

8. Media don't accuse Aris fans nor club at all. Some indicators were and quick researches showed that PAOK hooligans were those who caused huge, ugly moments mainly before the match, out of stands.
"Aris and their fans appeared to be correct chanting/supporting their club. They were just "loud" at latest stages of the match but nothing extremely hostile nor illegal"

9. Police investigates who attacked Serbian fans.

Radical Sparta fans to boycott team - 09/11/2007

Source : ČTK / Prague Daily Monitor

The Ultras group of Sparta Praha fans will boycott the football club's home matches, they say on their website, over measures the club's management announced on Tuesday in reaction to displays of anti-Semitism and the use of pyrotechnics at stadiums.

The Ultras say they consider the measures repressive. They mainly oppose the planned registry of the fans and bans on entry to the stadium for those violating the rules.

Sparta admitted that its effort was not in line with current Czech law, but said it was willing to face complaints from fans banned from the stadium. The club plans to introduce a state-of-the-art camera system at its stadium by winter to identify hooligans.

The hard-core fans write they also disagree with the ban on pyrotechnics, the construction of a fence dividing the stadium into further sectors and increased police guarding.

They threaten to take unspecified further steps if the club does not change the situation.

A part of the hooligans broke into the stadium on Saturday night, left there a banner threatening the club with further actions and sprayed Sparta's substitutes bench.

The club's management finally decided that the radical fans have become too aggressive and the club launched a campaign called "Sparta cheers decently."

Sparta boss Daniel Kretinsky said on Tuesday that this was no fight against the Ultras, but against individuals who have infiltrated them.

In August, the Prague Jewish Community officially complained about racism of Sparta's fans.

Sparta has also recently faced problems with its sponsors who expressed reluctance to continue to support the club after misconduct of Sparta's players, especially captain Tomas Repka who vulgarly attacked a referee and an organiser at the end of a first soccer league match in Teplice, North Bohemia, in September.
