IJssel derby temporarily halted due to misconduct by PEC fans.

Some of PEC Zwolle's core supporters misbehaved again on Sunday during the IJssel derby. Despite strict measures and a ban on fireworks, smoke bombs were set off, bringing the match to a temporary halt.

Before the match, the city centre was calm.

The mobile unit was fully present in the centre of Zwolle in the morning. Small groups of fans were arrested by riot police. After checking their identities, they were expelled from the city centre.

The stadium also remained calm. However, construction fencing had to be quickly erected to protect several pallets of stones behind the football stadium. Mayor Peter Snijders announced a ban on gatherings in the city centre on Saturday.

During the match, strict measures were in place, including a ban on alcohol, a ban on fireworks and a ban on banners containing hate literature. Hardcore members of PEC Zwolle protested against these measures. They stayed away from the stadium for the first fifteen minutes of the match.

At the start of the match, several smoke bombs were lit in the Go Ahead Eagles supporters' area. According to sources, they were equipped with stopwatches and the smoke bombs were hidden in the stadium before the match by local supporters.

Green smoke

In the second half, members of the hard core stretched a black cloth over part of the northern section. Despite the ban and strict controls, hooligans managed to bring smoke bombs into the stadium. In no time at all, the stadium was filled with thick green smoke.

Referee Dieperink temporarily stopped the match. The stadium chairman called on the troublemakers to put an end to their misbehaviour, as it was damaging the club. The cloth kept the hooligans out of view of the cameras, which meant that no one could be banned from playing in the stadium.

The stewards removed the black cloth from the supporters. Once the smoke had cleared, the match could resume.

Newcastle fan stabbed in Italy ahead of AC Milan Champions League match

Eddie McKay, 58, suffered stab wounds to his back and arms and was taken to hospital, according to local police.

Eddie McKay was with his son and a friend when they were attacked by a group of seven or eight people, who he claims were wearing balaclavas.

Newcastle fans have been allocated 4,000 tickets for tonight's game in Milan. Ticketless fans have also travelled to the city ahead of the match.

Fans clash after Derry City and Shamrock Rovers match

Police were called to minor disturbances after Derry City’s top-of-the-table clash with Shamrock Rovers.

Opposing fans briefly clashed in a car park outside the Brandywell stadium following the game on Friday night.

The match finished 1-1, with Derry failing to close the gap on the league leaders.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police are investigating a disturbance following a football match in the Lone Moor Road area of Derry/Londonderry on Friday.

“Officers intervened and quickly de-escalated a minor disturbance between a number of opposing football fans in a car park outside the stadium following the match.

“There are no reports of injury at this time or damage to property.

Amsterdam police arrest 12 ahead of Ajax-Olympique Marseille match

The police arrested 12 Olympique Marseille football supporters in the city center of Amsterdam on Thursday afternoon prior to the team's Europa League match against Ajax. Six were arrested for carrying a stabbing or striking weapon. The other six were taken into custody for loitering or gathering in a group in a manner which violates the General Local Ordinance (APV), , a police spokesperson confirmed after the local broadcaster AT5 first reported on the situation.

Olympique Marseille's supporters are known for their fanaticism and have caused problems abroad several times. Last year, when the French club played against Feyenoord in Rotterdam, police arrested 48 Marseille supporters. They were arrested for igniting fireworks, causing damage, and harassing patrons at a McDonald's.

Earlier, the city had expanded the area considered to be a security risk because of the match.

Many Turkish supporters made the trip to the city of Bruges.

Local police made 11 administrative arrests. Numerous pyrotechnic devices as well as equipment containing explosive substances were confiscated.





A total of 27 Turks were arrested.
At the end of the game, some troubles have opposed supporters from both teams in the stadium.
