UAE authorities order arrests over rare riot at football match
A soccer game in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) erupted into violent scuffles between angry fans of opposing teams, a rare scene of chaos that led authorities to call for the arrest of “all rioters”.
Public prosecutors in the capital of Abu Dhabi issued an order on Sunday to arrest those who instigated the riot at the match between the Al Ain and Al Wahda clubs, warning authorities “will respond firmly” and urging “sportsmanship among club fans to avoid endangering the lives and safety of others”.
The statement on the UAE’s state-run news agency WAM did not offer details on the number of arrested.
Footage posted on social media showed Emirati fans streaming onto the field in their traditional white kanduras and start attacking players as security guards rushed to restrain them.
Other video showed groups of men beating and flinging shoes at each other in the stadium stands. At least one spectator appeared to be injured lying on the ground as rival fans brawled. It wasn’t clear how many people were injured in the riot.
The incident marked a rare outburst of violence in the business-friendly, tourism-focussed sheikdom.

Basel-OM: Marseille supporters will be able to attend the match ! - 14/03/2022
Source : https://markiko.com/
As OM moves to Basel Thursday (6:45 p.m.) in the round of 16 second leg of the Conference League, it was feared that Marseille fans could not travel to Switzerland. Indeed, following some excesses on the sidelines of the first leg, the Basel police did not want to see Marseille fans Thursday at the Saint-Jacques stadium.
The Olympian leaders had also announced in the process that they were going to ask for mediation on this subject. But, this Monday, everything seems to be back to normal, since FC Basel announced the authorization of the arrival of Marseille supporters at the stadium. The Swiss club specifies, however, that the visitor parking lot will be closed at the request of the police, and asks Olympian fans to reserve their places in a specific sector of the stadium.

Italy : Verona hit with one-match stand closure after racist chants - 15/03/2022
Source : https://www.lequipe.fr/
Verona will have to play one match without the backing of their hardcore fans after widespread racist chants during the weekend's 2-1 loss to Napoli, Serie A said on Tuesday.
In a statement Serie A said that the Curva Sud section of the Stadio Bentegodi would be closed for a game after a significant number of Verona supporters in that stand chanted racist abuse at Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly and Victor Osimhen.
The closure of that section of the stadium, where Verona's hardcore ultras stand, will be closed also because of chants against Napoli and the city of Naples which are considered in Italy to be "territorial discrimination".
Naples is the biggest city in the south of Italy and often the target of chants which can be seen as racial in nature given the history of prejudice and discrimination afforded to southerners from wealthier northern Italy.
Verona's ultras have a long track record of both anti-southern hate -- causing outrage on the morning of the Napoli game by producing a banner which gave the coordinates of Naples as a bombing target for the Russian army -- and outright racism towards black players.
They have aimed monkey chants at former Italy striker Mario Balotelli and AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie, hung swastikas in the stands at the Bentegodi and in one bizarre incident in 2014 parked cars at a party for fans in such a way so that they made the shape of the Nazi symbol.
Some 20 years ago former club president Giambattista Pastorello said he wouldn't sign a black player for the club because of the likely reaction from supporters.
Five years before that an effigy of black Dutchman Maickel Ferrier had been hung from the stands by fans wearing Ku Klux Klan hoods in protest at his potential -- and subsequently aborted -- signing for the club.
Verona's next home game, against struggling Genoa, is scheduled for April 3.

Delije attacked Rangers fans outside hotel: Mayhem in Belgrade in the middle of the night The fight took place in front of the Metropol hotel, where the supporters of the Scottish club were staying
The day before the game between Red Star and Rangers a fight broke out. Red Star supporters attacked Scottish club supporters who arrived in Belgrade.
There was a fight outside the Metropol Hotel on King Alexander Boulevard, where some of the Scots were.
Apparently around 25 of the Red Star's hardest supporters came to the hotel where there was a general commotion, and soon the police force arrived on the scene and then secured the hotel itself.
Rangers fans also complained on their forum about the attack on Red Star supporters, saying that two different hotels they were staying in were attacked.
Furthermore, after the meeting with the UEFA delegation and the Serbian police, Rangers informed their supporters that the police council had advised Rangers supporters to assemble in the Student Square at 4 p.m. and that the police would help them reach the stage.
Rangers fans in Belgrade ambushed by Serbian hooligans in brutal attack as supporters arm themselves with chairs
THIS is the moment Rangers fans brawled with Serbian thugs after being ambushed outside a hotel ahead of tonight’s Europa League clash with Red Star.
The travelling supporters had already been warned not to travel around Belgrade in small groups or late at night for fear of trouble.
But that didn’t stop a section of supporters coming under attack outside the city’s Metropol Palace hotel by a group dressed all in black and throwing bottles.
Those inside the hotel captured the action as the Gers supporters tried to defend themselves with chairs and other objects as sirens wailed in the background.
The incident went on for several minutes with no sign of intervention from hotel staff or police.
Rangers had issued a statement the day before before telling fans to be careful following reports that local hoods had been targeting travelling fans throughout the day.
The statement read: "Following tonight’s UEFA security meeting, we can confirm that Serbian Police have advised that supporters coaches can collect fans from Student Square from 4pm.
"Additional coaches will be put on by local authorities to aid independent supporters in heading to the match.
"After the fixture, there will be a holdback of up to two hours and following this coaches will be available to take supporters back into the city centre.
"Additionally, Serbian Police advised strongly against Rangers Supporters travelling alone or in small groups and recommended against the wearing of colours throughout the city."

Trouble marred Bradford City's football match at Hartlepool United
THREE Bradford men have been arrested after trouble erupted in and out of the ground during City's visit to Hartlepool United.
Police say there was 'disorder' and 'unacceptable behaviour' from a minority of both sets of fans prior to, during and following Tuesday night’s League Two match at The Suit Direct Stadium.
Police dogs had to be used as officers were threatened and targetted by concrete and glass bottles, with some people even carrying sticks with nails embedded.
One man suffered injuries inside the ground which required overnight hospital treatment.
Cleveland Police spokesperson said:
1. A 31-year-old male, from Bradford, was arrested on suspicion of common assault in a Morrisons car park. This man has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
2. A 29-year-old male, from Bradford, was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm inside the ground. This man has been bailed pending further enquiries.
3. A 31-year-old man from Bradford has been charged with public order and is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on April 7. That incident occurred in The Corner Flag Pub.
Sergeant Adrian Dack, from Cleveland Police Football Unit, said: “There were pockets of disorder and unacceptable behaviour from a minority of both sets of fans prior to, during and following last night’s match.
“Officers were threatened and some grown adults and teenagers thought it was acceptable to throw objects including concrete and glass bottles at police, and some people carried sticks with nails embedded.
“One man suffered injuries inside the ground which required overnight hospital treatment.
"I strongly believe that without the invaluable assistance of our police dogs, officers would have also been physically injured at the match last night.
“Rest assured that enquiries are ongoing with the full support of Hartlepool United FC to identify those believed to be involved in the disorder yesterday evening.
"We won’t tolerate this type of behaviour at any football game.”

Belgium : The fight of Wrzosek vs Hari 2 interrupted due to a fight between fans - 19/03/2022
Source : https://newsy-today.com/
The scandalous scenes took place at today’s GLORY 80 gala in Hasselt, Belgium. During the return fight between Arkadiusz Wrzosek and Badr Hari, the fans who were in the arena, causing fights, stopped the duel before the start of the third round.
Wrzosek and Hari met for the first time in September last year in the fight of the evening of GLORY 78 in Rotterdam. The Pole then made a huge sensation by defeating Badra Hari by knockout. Before the rematch, most of the professionals bet on the victory of the Moroccan “Bad Boy”, but Wrzosek showed himself from a very good side during two rounds of the fight. The Pole entered the ring with a fighting attitude and quickly proved that this evening he will be an equal rival in the ring for the much more experienced Hari.
According to journalist Aaron Bronsteter, Wrzosek was leading 19 to 18 on all judging cards before the start of the third round. When the players returned to their corners for the break, the fans gathered in the hall began to throw chairs and start fights, according to the journalists present on the spot.

Ajax fans set fire to their own stand against Feyenoord
Ajax fans lit flares to show their support for their team ahead of the derby match against Feyenoord but, at the end of the choreography, a banner burned, causing a fire in the stands of the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam. The fire occurred at the front of the stand where F-Side and Amsterdam Casuals, two groups of Ajax ultras, usually meet.
Thick black smoke engulfed a large section of the fans behind the goal before the fire was finally put out.
"The fabric [of the banner] was made of fireproof material and the fire was brought under control thanks to the extinguishing efforts of club workers and fans. No injuries have been reported," Ajax said in a statement.
