Thug given three-year football ban after causing trouble at Lincoln City matches - 01/03/2012
Source : Lincolnshire Echo
A thug who was involved in trouble at a number of Lincoln City games has been banned from football grounds for three years.
Aaron Bee, 19, must also hand his passport into police and attend a police station while England are playing. He is banned from travelling to Poland and Ukraine in the summer for Euro 2012.
Bee, of Swift Gardens, Lincoln, appeared at Lincoln Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
As well as the football banning order, he must pay £1,200 costs and is banned from Lincoln city centre before and after Imps matches. He did not contest the charges.
The court heard he had been involved in some of the worst incidents of violence at Lincoln matches in recent years.
In July 2009, when he was just 17, Bee was part of a group of around 25 Imps fans who clashed with police before a friendly match with Sheffield United at Sincil Bank. All were members of the Lincoln Risk Group – the fans on a police watchlist – and clashed with police spotters outside the stadium.
A number of items, including rocks, bin and other items, were thrown towards the police.
In February 2010, Bee travelled to the derby match at Grimsby Town.
Inside the ground, he was part of two rival groups who fought next to a segregation fence. One fence was pulled down but the other remained intact. A number of missiles were thrown between the two groups and club stewards and police officers had to restore order.
The court was also told Bee was involved in trouble before a high-profile friendly with Celtic in July 2010.
During the fixture, there was disorder on High Street, Lincoln, where rival supporters clashed.
Bee was involved in numerous stand offs with rival supporters after the match. Five people required hospital treatment and there were 27 arrests.
In April last year, Bee was identified as part of a small group that travelled to Bury.
Before the game there was serious disorder in a pub, in which he was seen in possession of a bar stool. Police officers had to go into the pub and restore order as they forced the two rival groups apart
And in Lincoln's last game in the Football League, against Aldershot on May 7 last year, Bee was again in trouble.
As the final whistle sounded and fans ran on the pitch, Lincoln players were abused by fans. The court was told Bee was identified as being unlawfully on the pitch, remonstrating with players, and had to be prevented from confronting the players.
The court heard that 17 other incidents were listed, which included previous relevant convictions and other notable incidents involving Bee's involvement with the Lincoln City Risk group. He had also been given a conditional discharge for encroaching on a pitch in April 2009.
PC Andy Pearson, Lincolnshire Police's Football Intelligence Officer, said football fans could not hide from the law.
"We've been looking at Bee for the last 18 months, compiling evidence to take before the civil court," he said.
"This shows that Lincolnshire Police will proactively target those individuals engaging in antisocial behaviour and football-related violence and disorder.
"A lot of the work is conducted in partnership with Lincoln City Football Club to ensure that Sincil Bank and the surrounding areas remain a safe and welcoming environment for all football supporters"
"The fact that Lincoln City have been relegated from the Football League does not mean that football-related violence has been eradicated".

Thirteen arrested as Oxford United beat Swindon Town
THIRTEEN people were arrested as Oxford United beat fierce rivals Swindon Town 2-0 today.
A few fans threw chairs at rival supporters and tried to breach the segregated area during the match while police were forced to intervene after trouble on fan buses.
Before the match a group of U's fans had attempted to reach a bus carrying Swindon fans after it stopped when a door was forced open, police spokesman Craig Evry said tonight.
Supporters on board caused damage to the bus, throwing "debris" from it.
Another bus was then stopped on the B480 at around 2.30pm after it left the Kassam Stadium because Swindon fans were throwing things at other drivers.
Mr Evry said the arrests were made for criminal damage or public order offences.
Ch Insp Olly Wright added: “As expected, the majority of people attending the match were law-abiding and genuine fans intent on upholding the true spirit of the occasion.
“Sadly, there were was a small minority of people who let themselves and their team down by engaging in violent or disruptive behaviour, resulting in 13 arrests.
“Our policing operation managed to prevent any disorder in the wider city despite the attempts made by this small minority who were clearly intent on causing trouble, and officers were successful in keeping rival troublemakers apart."

Metro vandalised by Sunderland fans on way to derby
A METRO train was vandalised as it took Sunderland fans to yesterday’s Tyne- Wear derby match.
Windows were smashed, while carriage roofs and light fittings were damaged on the train, which travelled through South Tyneside Metro stations at East Boldon, Brockley Whins, and Fellgate.
Police say the damage was the only major incident on a day when the majority of supporters were well behaved.
The attack was described as “mindless vandalism” by Metro owners Nexus, which put on the special service to transport football supporters to and from the match, at Newcastle’s St James’s Park.
A spokesman said: “The vast majority of fans on the Metro yesterday were in good spirits but well behaved. It’s a shame there tends to be a minority intent on causing trouble.
“It’s doubly disappointing when this train was put on especially for Sunderland fans to go to the game, and we even ran extra services because of the volume of passengers.”
Police say 18 people were arrested on the day.
This included two on suspicion of assault, and others for alcohol-related offences.
Inside St James’s Park, four seats and toilets were damaged.
Police have praised fans in South Tyneside, and say the majority were well-behaved.
Northumbria Police Assistant Chief Constable Steve Ashman said: “Public safety is always our No 1 priority during any football match and this means any individual or groups causing trouble will be dealt with.
“The crowd was mainly good-natured and only interested in the action on the pitch, and we’d like to thank them for their behaviour.
“Those who did cause trouble should be warned we will be carrying out extensive enquiries to identify them.”
Mr Ashman condemned the attack on the train.
He added: “This type of behaviour will not be tolerated, and those responsible should be aware their actions could have serious consequences and potentially affect future ticket allocation.”
* A man was arrested after an assault at a South Tyneside social club yesterday.
Police were called to Whitburn Marsden and District Social Club in North Guards, Whitburn, at 2.05pm after a 45-year-old man was punched.
He was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital suffering from a facial injury.
A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released on police bail.
It is not known if the incident was related to the derby.

The confusion began when the coach of Corinthians fans organized parked outside the headquarters of the "Sangue Jovem" fans of Santos, on Avenida Tiradentes. The Corinthians fans got out of the vehicle with sticks and stones in their hands and started the clash with Santos. Even fewer members of the Corinthians fans fought.

Cologne hooligans attack Gladbach fan bus - 04/03/2012
Source : http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com
Borussia Moenchengladbach’s fan bus was attacked by supporters of rival club Cologne at the weekend, the latest in a series of hooliganism incidents in Germany.
The club-liveried bus was returning to Moenchengladbach from a Bundesliga match in Nuremberg on Sunday when, after stopping in a rest area on the A3 motorway, masked hooligans launched an attack with sticks and paving stones. The bus driver sped off but the hooligans gave chase in their own minibus. No-one was injured, according to police, who quickly became aware of the incident and stopped the offending minibus, making nine arrests for criminal damage, harassment and breach of the peace. The Gladbach bus contained women, children and elderly men, police added. The high-flying underdogs lost 1-0 in Nuremberg, staying third in the Bundesliga. Cologne had drawn 1-1 in Hoffenheim on the same day. German football authorities asked for more help from the government and police in combating hooliganism, which has made a comeback to the Bundesliga in recent weeks. "We must find political solutions, as we alone can not get rid of the violence," DFB president Reinhard Rauball said after cars were burned in Hamburg and Berlin. "We feel a bit left alone, and it is a social problem." Cologne said they would ban any offending supporters for life. On Monday an Eintrach Frankfurt fan was given a seven-month suspended sentence for attacking a television camera tower in 2001. The 26-year-old was identified retrospectively after being caught in recent disturbances during a match against Kaiserslautern.

Racism is unacceptable
The Italian football association’s President has come out and condemned the racist abuse Roma defender Juan received during the weekend’s Rome derby.
The game, which Lazio won 2-1, was marred in the second half by continued racist chants aimed at the Giallorosso centre-back. The Aquile have been fined €20,000 for failing to control their supporters, whilst head of the Italian FA, Giancarlo Abete has now come out to add his weight behind condemnation of sections of the club’s fans.
“We are at the forefront in the fight against racism,” declared Abete on Monday afternoon.
“There is a great commitment against discrimination. In early May we will organise a European conference with the [European-based anti-racism] organisation FARE.
“Racist behaviour is unacceptable.
“We must intensify this battle. There should be respect for diversity because we belong to one race, the human race.”

Politicians want football clubs to pay for extra police presence after arrest of 24 fans in violence connected to Sunday's Copenhagen-Aalborg match;
Arrests, fires and last-minute goals featured as FC Copenhagen kicked off its spring season on Sunday. Dozens of fans were arrested in violent clashes, and the game itself suffered from delays caused by crowd trouble as the league leaders escaped from Aalborg with a 1-1 draw after both teams scored in the last moments of the game.
But it was the action in the stands and in the streets that has gotten all the attention, due to the arrest of 24 in incidents that occurred both before and after the match.
Following the game, both clubs were highly critical of their respective fans' behavior, and despite the Danish Football Union (DBU) initiating disciplinary cases against both clubs, the issue has now transcended the pitch and has sparked a political debate.
Michael Aastrup Jensen, a spokesman from the opposition party Venstre, told the newspaper Berlingske that football clubs should be made to contribute more to the extensive costs involved in providing police protection during football fixtures.
“We have to come to terms with the fact that the police spend an increasing amount of resources fighting the troublemakers at football games. As a result, we need to look at alternative payment methods now to force the football clubs to clean up their ranks,” Jensen said.
The Policemen's Union supports the idea of football clubs footing part of the bill, referring to the Swedish model, where football clubs pay 920 Swedish krona an hour per policeman during high-risk matches, as an incentive to come up with ways to reduce the number of police needed.
“When we have to devote hundreds of officers every weekend to maintain order and security at football games, the rest of the Danish population will naturally see a waning police presence in the rest of the country.”
Responding to “we are champions” chants from Copenhagen fans, Lars Lynge Jakobsen, the Aalborg sports director, referred to them as “champions of idiocy”, but at the same time contended that the football clubs can only do so much.
“I feel completely powerless. I really can’t see how I can solve this. It’s easy for politicians to sit there and comment but they should really be contacting the football clubs and helping us solve this problem. The game was delayed because we spent extra time frisking the fans. They still managed to smuggle in fireworks in.”
Both the Radikale (R), a member of the governing coalition, and the opposition Konservative (K) have dismissed any notions of the football clubs having to pay for the police presence, indicating that this will only lead to a slippery slope, as Jeppe Mikkelsen (R) explained.
“It’s about precedence really. What’s next then? Will the bars that serve the fans before the games also have to pay?”
Hooliganism is not widespread among Danish football fans, but steps have been taken to prevent it entirely, including fan registration and mandatory bussing of away fans. Fingerprinting has also been mentioned as a possible solution. The justice minister, Morten Bødskov (S), told Berlingske that high-risk games could also be moved to earlier times to stem the violence.
"Playing games earlier in the day means troublemakers can't consume the same amounts of alcohol and the police have an easier time controlling the crowds.”
The fans themselves have been critical towards the steps and FC Copenhagen fan group FCKFC argued that law-abiding fans should not have to suffer because of a few unruly types.
“These developments are dangerous for the future of Danish football. Firstly, it’s stereotyping all the fans as criminals and secondly it creates a pall of fear around the culture of attending football games. Additionally, it is understandable that free citizens don’t want to have to take a bus, which may leave miles away from where they live, just to watch a football game.”
Fans affected by bussing requirements have begun boycotting matches in response to the measure. Supporters of archrivals Copenahgen and Brøndby have been among the most vocal opponents of the bussing requirement. When the two teams last met in November, only a handful of Copenhagen fans made the trip to Brøndby, and Brøndby fans say a similar action is likely then the two clubs meet in Copenhagen in April.

Euro 2012 travel ban for 2,500 England yobs - 08/03/2012
Source : http://www.thesun.co.uk
TRAVEL bans will be slapped on 2,500 English football hooligans today to stop them going to the European Championships.
The army of yobs will be ordered to hand over their passports to stop them wreaking havoc in Ukraine and Poland during the summer tournament.
The crackdown will target 2,481 thugs who have been given football banning orders, the Home Office announced.
As well as handing over their passports the hooligans will be prevented from leaving the country during an official "control period", from May 29 to July 1.
Anyone else who gets a banning order between now and the tournament will also be ordered to surrender their passport.
Ministers believe travel bans in recent years have boosted England fans' image abroad.
None were arrested for violent disorder at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa — and they were voted best fans at the 2006 tournament in Germany.
Home Office minister Lord Henley said: "We are determined to ensure our football fans' reputation for good behaviour continues and we will use all our powers to ensure those thugs intent on violence will not be allowed to travel to the Ukraine and Poland for the duration of Euro 2012."

At the end of the game Charleroi supporters went out of the stadium under a huge police presence. Local supporters tried to confront them and about 20 away fans tried to force the police line to arrive in front of another police line who were in front of Aalst supporters. Some locals threw rocks but away fans continued their way to them. As they were in front of police, Aalst fans retreated when some away fans came back for them. Locals tried to charge but police immediately baton charged them. Some missiles were threw again. As it was impossible to confront Aalst lads, Charleroi fans came back to their busses.

France: PSG condemns fans who tried to invade training - 08/03/2012
Source : http://msn.foxsports.com
Paris Saint-Germain has strongly condemned a group of supporters who disrupted a morning training session on Thursday and abused a journalist filming the scene.
French reports said about 50 thugs overwhelmed security and tried to invade the training ground, spitting at a cameraman from L'Equipe TV, before police restored order.
PSG said in a statement Thursday that it ''strongly condemns an attempt at forceful intrusion at the training ground by individuals claiming to be PSG supporters.''
The club said it will continue ''all of its efforts to fight against violence.''
PSG long harbored a violent hooligan element among its fans from 1985-2010 until fan groups were disbanded and heavy restrictions were implemented on fans traveling away to games.
