POLICE ARE looking for APOEL hooligans who set a car alight while two Omonia supporters were still inside yesterday after the local derby APOEL-Omonia at the GSP Stadium. According to the state broadcaster last night, APOEL supporters wearing helmets and on motorcycles broke the windows of a car on the roundabout near the stadium in which were two Omonia supporters. The two were leaving the stadium when they came under attack by APOEL hooligans who broke the car windows using iron crowbars and then threw in a flare which set the car alight. Other APOEL supporters nearby ran to the car to help the two young Omonia fans get out of the car before it was engulfed in flames and completely destroyed. A fire engine parked at the stadium rushed to the scene to put the flames out, while the two victims were taken to hospital by ambulance. A police spokesman said last night their condition was not serious. Meanwhile, in separate incidents, police made three arrests before and after the match in connection with the possession of firecrackers and flares.

One killed in renewed football violence in Egypt - 24/03/2012
Source : http://ibnlive.in.com
Football violence re-erupted in Egypt today again leaving a 13-year-old boy dead and scores injured as security forces clashed with fans of nation's top football club al-Masry, who were protesting against the ban on the team over last month's deadly stadium riots. The 13-year-old boy was shot in the back and 18 others fans injured as security forces burst tear gas shells to disperse club fans in violence overnight in Port Said, state TV reported. The violence erupted last night and continued for the whole day today as protesters set fire to tyres, blocked major roads and then attempted to storm the main administrative building of the Suez Canal. The protest was held after the Egyptian Football Association decided to ban Al-Masry from playing for two years and cancel matches at Port Said stadium for three years. "One was shot in the back and died, and 18 were injured in the clashes, two of them are suffering gunshot wounds," a medical source said. The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said the club was banned for two seasons following the pitch invasion that killed 74 fans on February 1 when Port Said-based Masry beat Cairo's Ahly team, the most successful club in Africa. Port Said Stadium, where the violence took place, will be closed for three years, the EFA said, and Masry will be reinstated to the premier league for the 2013/14 season. Hundreds of football fans took to the streets of Port Said, infuriated by the decision. Masry fans have repeatedly denied responsibility for the February massacre, saying that the attack was plotted by members of the former Mubarak regime.

Glasgow Rangers - Celtic Glasgow - 25/03/2012
Source : The Press Association
17 fans arrested at Old Firm match
A total of 17 arrests were made at the Old Firm match, police have said. Seven were over offences under the recently introduced Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications Act, eight were over drink-related offences, one was over a breach of the peace and one over assault. Strathclyde Police had appealed for fans and officials of Celtic and Rangers to behave well ahead of the match, which was described as "unique" because of Rangers' position in administration and Celtic's opportunity to win the league with a victory at Ibrox Stadium. Rangers won the match 3-2 and three players - Cha Du-Ri and Victor Wanyama for Celtic and Carlos Bocanegra for Rangers - were sent off by the referee. Celtic manager Neil Lennon was also sent off at half-time. Match commander Chief Superintendent Andy Bates said last week that the police operation around the game would be "business as usual". On Friday he said: "We've got a fairly significant presence on the ground across the whole of the west of Scotland, every area will have an increase in police officers both during the game and well into the evening." The match was the first Old Firm game since the introduction of the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012, which came into force on March 1. The law gives police and prosecutors additional tools to crack down on sectarian songs and abuse at and around football matches, as well as threats posted on the internet or through the mail. The Act created two new distinct offences, punishable through a range of penalties up to a maximum five years in prison and an unlimited fine. The first offence targets "hateful, threatening or otherwise offensive behaviour" expressed at and around football matches which is likely to cause public disorder.

Brazil: Corinthians - Palmeiras - 25/03/2012

Fan dies after being shot in Brazil battle of hooligans
A Palmeiras supporter died on Sunday after being shot in the head by a Corinthians fan during a battle between rival hooligan gangs before their Sao Paulo derby. Violence in big cities, including soccer hooliganism, is one of the big problems Brazil faces two years before staging the World Cup finals. Police reported that about 500 Palmeiras fans were being escorted to the municipal Pacaembu stadium where Corinthians play when some home supporters confronted them with firearms, iron bars and home-made grenades. Five people were hurt including the 21-year-old fan, who was shot and died later in hospital. Film footage by amateur witnesses broadcast on television showed scenes of a street battle and a fan lying on the ground bleeding and waiting for assistance, which he was given by police after the fighting before being taken to hospital. Media reports said no one was arrested. "The military police were caught between the two gangs but for an hour people's lives were in danger," police corporal Adriano Lopomo told TV reporters. "The military police had no way out unless it was to retreat and practically help the conflict." The scene of the battle is an area where there are often confrontations between rival fans of the big Sao Paulo clubs. Since police have managed to all but end the violence within the stadiums, fighting has moved into the surrounding areas. Last year, a Corinthians supporter was killed by Palmeiras hooligans. On Sunday, there were also scuffles between Corinthians fans and police at the stadium's main entrance minutes before kickoff. TV footage showed people who were still outside when the game was about to start trying to force their way in. Mounted police used tear gas to push the crowd back.

Serbia: We shall sanction hooligans with rigorous sentences - 27/03/2012
Source: blic.rs
NATA MESAROVIC ON COURT RULINGS AGAINST HOOLIGAN FANS
‘Violence at sports stadiums must be prevented with rigorous measures and sanctioning. I am against any pressure on a trial chamber but it must be provided that judicial practice is equal everywhere in Serbia. Every court verdict has to be adequate to committed criminal offence. Courts of appeals and courts that made initial verdict have to rule under same criteria’, Nata Mesarovic, President of the Supreme Court of Cassation of Serbia says for ‘Blic’ referring to cutting of initially ruled prison sentence to ‘Rad’ FC fan Bojan Horvatin who killed Bojan Majic.
The senior court sentenced Horvatin to 30 years in prison, however, two days ago the Court of Appeals cut the sentence by half.
The same principle of cutting prison sentence was applied in the case of Uros Misic who attacked a policeman. Organizers of Brice Taton’s murder in Belgrade shall also spent by half shorter prison sentences as per decision of the Court of Appeals.
Ivan Bajazit, former judge of the District Court in Belgrade says it is obvious that someone at the Supreme Court or Court of Appeals cannot be a judge.
‘Someone of those two judges has chosen wrong profession or has wrong morale. If one rules thirty years in prison, and the other one cuts it to fifteen, than one of them has made such huge mistake. It is completely unacceptable that those two verdicts differ so hugely. One of those two judges has ruled under somebody else’s influence or pressure and that must be changed urgently’, Ivan Bajazit says.
Radmila Dragicevic Dicic, President of the Court of Appeals that cut sentences to hooligans and murderers, points out that public opinion has to react before a problem comes to a courtroom and that preventive actions against violence have to be undertaken.
‘As President of the Court I have no authority to comment on decisions made by judges, but I think that public opinion has the right to do so and express its dissatisfaction’, Radmila Dragicevic-Dicic says.
