Danish police after the Malmö-criticism: out of all proportion - 17/12/2019
Source : https://www.indonewyork.com/
Malmö FF criticises the police for hitting innocent fans with tear gas before the FCK match. - Legitimate self-defence, say the police.
Malmö FF criticises the police for hitting innocent fans with tear gas before the FCK match. - Legitimate self-defence, say the police.
It is completely out of proportion, when the Swedish football club Malmö FF raises criticism against the Police for the way it handled the troubled Malmö FF fans before Europa League match 12. december against FC Copenhagen in the Park.
It says senior inspector, inspector and chief of preparedness for the Copenhagen Police, Peter Dahl.
- I think the club should use its energy to process the hooligan problems, it quite clearly in Malmö instead to raise this criticism, he says.
Peter Dahl have read the criticism, as Malmö FF sent out on its web site Wednesday, where the club among other things, accusing the police of hitting innocent people with tear gas.
He has seen the video surveillance through from 12. december, and describes its adherents ' march to the Park as "a war zone".
- Their fans behaved, as when you look the worst rioting we have seen in Copenhagen, with the exhumation of cobblestone, throw objects and scooters, the firing of the fireworks directly at policemen and throw firecrackers directly at the police officers.
- The gasgranat, they refer to was thrown by one of our platoons in necessary self-defence, because they were so pressed by the Malmö-fans, that they had to get away. We had police officers, who had to barricade themselves in the swimming pool.
- So it is completely out of proportions, that a club raises criticism of the way things have been handled, says Peter Dahl.
Malmö FF asks the Police for a meeting, so the club can get an explanation of the handling of the supporters.
Peter Dahl said that the police have not received an invitation to a meeting yet.
- But I meet very like up, and I bring much like video documentation from Copenhagen, so the management of Malmö FF can see how their fans act out in reality.
- For it seems not quite to that management is aware of what it is for some voldstosser they have with football, he says.
Copenhagen Police discounted the day after the match, a task force that will identify as many as possible of those who were in the riots and to hold them accountable. This applies both to the FCK-fans of Malmö FF fans.

Nacional fan shot and killed in Uruguayan club's title celebrations
Newly crowned Uruguay champions Nacional have condemned the killing of one of their fans during Sunday's title celebrations.
Local media reported that a 24-year-old supporter was shot dead near the club's headquarters in Montevideo.
Fans took to the streets in the Uruguay capital to celebrate Nacional's championship-clinching 1-0 win over Penarol on Sunday.
According to El Pais, a video on social media showed around 500 fans singing on the street before six to eight shots were heard. One of the fans fell as others ran for safety. The victim died before arriving in hospital while another fan shot in the arm needed medical attention.
"Nacional condemns a new act of violence, another unjustified killing in Uruguayan football," a club statement said. "The club calls on all of our fans to maintain calmness and responsibility while dealing with grief. It's no longer a day to celebrate, all of Nacional embraces a family [of the victim]."
In 2016, one Penarol fan died after being shot by Nacional supporters and two others were hurt as they celebrated the club's 125th anniversary. Penarol also condemned the latest act of violence.
A club statement read: "Penarol passionately rejects the episode in which a Nacional fan was killed and another injury this evening. May the one or those responsible be identified and brought to justice."

Barcelona, Real draw as Clasico marred by violence; 64 injured
Barcelona and Real Madrid could not be separated in a Clasico that was overshadowed by violent clashes between Catalan independence protestors and police outside Camp Nou.
After being postponed in October, there were renewed fears of unrest around Spain's most famous fixture and while the match was only briefly interrupted by yellow beach balls thrown onto the pitch, outside the stadium, chaos ensued.
Masked protesters had set bins on fire and thrown rocks and glass bottles at police, who responded by firing foam bullets.
64 people were slightly injured in the clashes, including six who needed to be taken to a medical centre for extra care, local emergency services said. Two people were arrested, according to a police spokesman.
The protesters, many of them carrying Catalan separatist flags, began setting up barricades in the middle of the street which they then burned, after police arrived in dozens of police vans.
Inside the stadium, the match passed largely undisturbed, save for a brief pause early in the second half as dozens of yellow beachballs had to be removed by stewards.

Police arrest Birmingham City fans after Leeds United violence following Elland Road clash - 20/12/2019
Source : https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/
Police investigating disorder between Birmingham City supporters and Leeds United fans have made arrests after a public appeal.
Officers from Leeds, with support from West Midlands Police colleagues, arrested six men at addresses across the West Midlands today.
The arrests come after crowd trouble at the Elland Road ground on Saturday, October 19.
Officers also interviewed three men in the West Midlands by voluntary attendance.
Police enquiries have identified a number of suspects in Leeds and they are due to be interviewed in relation to the disorder.
All those arrested or voluntarily interviewed this week have been released pending further enquiries.
Work is ongoing in relation to a number of other suspects and further arrests are anticipated over the coming days and weeks.
Despite the mayhem, no serious injuries were reported .
Officers have also passed details of all the suspects interviewed to their respective football clubs so that they can put immediate bans in place in advance of any charges and subsequent court process.
Ten people were initially arrested on the day of the match, with two men from Leeds subsequently charged with offences and four males from Birmingham and Lincolnshire given community resolutions.
Since then detectives have been conducting a detailed post-incident investigation to fully capture all offences arising from the incidents and to identify those responsible.
As part of the investigation, officers released images of 15 suspects and appealed for the public’s help in identifying them. Officers are still seeking the public’s help to identify the remaining five subjects and one further suspect whose image has been released today.
Chief Superintendent Steve Cotter, Leeds District Commander, said: “The disorder caused by a minority of supporters on both sides at this game was completely unacceptable, and we hope the progress of our investigation and the arrests this week will serve as a very clear message to those who think they can engage in this type of behaviour.
“We are conscious that the two sides play again next week and we know that all genuine fans of the game, including the many families who attend matches, will join us in condemning this type of hooliganism as something that belongs firmly in the past.
“Our appeal for information received an excellent response both here and in the West Midlands and we hope people will continue to support us as we seek to identify the six remaining suspects shown on the images we have released today.
“We are continuing to work closely with both clubs and our colleagues in West Midlands Police to ensure that people can continue to enjoy supporting their teams positively in a safe and trouble-free environment.”

UEFA fines Turkey football body for military salute - 20/12/2019
Source : http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/
UEFA fined the Turkish Football Federation on Dec. 20 for performing military salute goal celebrations during the UEFA EURO 2020 qualifiers.
"To fine the Turkish Football Federation €50,000 [$55,369] as an overall punishment, to include inter alia the crowd disturbances by its supporters on the occasion of the UEFA European Championship 2020 Qualifying Round match between the national teams of Turkey and France on 14 October 2019," European football’s governing body said in a statement.
Several Turkish players were reprimanded for manifestations of a non-sporting nature during matches against France and Albania, according to the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body.
After drawing France 1-1 in an away match on Oct. 14 to remain at top of Group H in the UEFA EURO 2020 qualifiers, Turkish players celebrated by saluting in tribute to the Turkish soldiers fighting terrorists in Turkey's anti-terror "Operation Peace Spring" into northeastern Syria.
The celebration was not televised by French TV.
In October, UEFA launched an inquiry after the EURO 2020 qualifiers in Istanbul and France where Turkish players gave military-style salutes in celebration of goals.
This probe was requested by France.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had condemned UEFA on Nov. 7 for their discriminatory treatment of Turkish national team and clubs over celebratory salutes.
He said that UEFA should be aware of this wrongdoing.
"When it comes to Turkey and Turkish athletes, the attitude [of UEFA] changes," Erdoğan said, adding that Europe's football body should not let sports be politicized with their wrong decisions.

Suspended Spanish game to end with no fans after Nazi insult - 27/12/2019
Source : http://www.startribune.com/
The Spanish second-division soccer match suspended at halftime after fans called a player a "Nazi" will be concluded behind closed doors.
The Spanish federation said Friday the second half between Rayo Vallecano and Albacete will be played without any fans present.
It also said Rayo Vallecano, whose fans insulted Albacete's Ukrainian forward Roman Zozulia during its home match on Dec. 15, will be fined 18,000 euros and a section of the team's stadium will be closed for two games.
The decision by the federation's competition committee can be appealed.
The Spanish league and the clubs will decide when the remainder of the match will be played.
The game was halted at halftime after Rayo fans used abusive language against Zozulia in chants and in a banner. The league said both teams asked the referee to stop playing the match, which was 0-0 at the time.
Zozulia had made headlines in Spain early in 2017 when his loan from Real Betis to Rayo Vallecano was called off because of protests by Rayo fans who accused the player of having connections to extremist groups in his home country. Zozulia has always strongly denied such connections.

Lazio Ultras in Celtic Punishment - 30/12/2019
Source : http://mashviral.com/
It has taken some time, but the Italian police have managed to identify 17 Lazio ultras who did everything possible to harm Celtic fans in Rome during the draw outside the Europa League.
Celtic won 2-1 on the night he saw them sailing until the next round, while Lazio was finally kicked out of the competition.
Violence before the game was unnecessary and left two Celtic fans in the hospital. Videos of thugs from Lazio locked in a bar and breaking windows to try to reach the Celtic fans who were only enjoying their day outside.
A police source told Sunsport: “Police commissioner Esposito signed prohibition orders for 12 people who threw fireworks and glass bottles at Celtic supporters. "Five others received bans after being caught carrying weapons and offensive objects on the night of the game." The Celts have not been the sole targets of these idiots and, over the years, many visiting supporters have had to endure the violence surrounding Lazio.
It was in Glasgow where they walked freely making Nazi gestures and trying to cause problems, the police did nothing shamefully. Scottish police do not approach visiting fans.

Rangers accuse Celtic fans of 'racially abusing' Morelos
RANGERS have accused Celtic fans of racist abuse against striker Alfredo Morelos, after the Old Firm game on Sunday.
Morelos was booed off the pitch after he was sent off for diving minutes before the end of play – with Rangers winning the game 2-1.
The Colombian made a cutting gesture across his throat directed towards the Celtic stands as he left the field.
The Ibrox side have now accused Hoops supporters of racially abusing Morelos.
A statement from Rangers said: “We believe Alfredo was racially abused and we would expect now that all measures will be taken to identify and deal with those responsible.”
The club has indicated it will report the matter to Police Scotland, however, the force has not as yet received any complaints.
Responding to the claims, Celtic said: “We are aware of the gestures made by the player towards Celtic supporters.
“We have received no reports of any racial abuse but would fully investigate any should these be brought to our attention.”
Rangers defended their striker’s cutting-throat gesture, saying the mime was common in South American countries to indicate something had come to its end, and that Morelos was subject to a disproportionate level of scrutiny from rival fans.
They said: “There can be little doubt Alfredo is singled out for special attention, on and off the field of play.
“Indeed, some of the things said and written about him leave a lot to be desired and do nothing to suggest Scottish football is the most welcoming of environments.
“Even Alfredo’s gesture as he left the pitch is now being portrayed in some quarters as something sinister when, in fact, it is a gesture used commonly throughout South America to indicate quite simply that something – in this case, the match – is finished.”
