Felipe Melo punches opponent as 30 fans are arrested and 18 police officers injured in Copa Libertadores clash
THE COPA LIBERTADORES clash between Penarol and Palmeiras descended into a chaotic on-field brawl as 30 fans were arrested and 18 police officers were injured.
The violence erupted at full time after the Brazilian visitors had claimed a 3-2 victory over their Uruguayan hosts on Wednesday.
A number of players, including Felipe Melo, were seen throwing punches while rival supporters fought a fierce battle up in the stands.
The video shows the chaos that erupted on the pitch following the final whistle as players chased and taunted each while fans also followed suit around the ground in South America.
Uruguay’s Interior Ministry said: “It started on the field, and it seemed incongruous that the players asked the fans not to fight when the fights had already started on the field.”
He added that a firearm was taken from at least one police officer while six police vehicles were also damaged.

Football fans attack Swedish police in 'violent riot'
IFK Norrköping's match against Jönköping on Thursday had just ended (3-0) when an attempt by security guards to carry out an identity check of two people at the home section led to a confrontation between police and one person, regional newspaper Norrköpings Tidningar reports.
“Around 25 and 30 people then went to joint attack on security staff and colleagues,” police control room officer Torbjörn Lindqvist told the newspaper.
Police then focused on getting the group to leave the stadium rather than on arresting anyone and in the commotion officers were unable to identify the rioters. It is understood there were no injuries.
“Together the police managed to protect themselves and at the time of writing no one is said to be injured, neither anyone from our team nor the public,” said Lindqvist on Thursday evening.
Police have filed the incident as “violent riot”, reports the TT news agency.
Several instances of disturbances at football games have been reported in the past year in Sweden. In August, a match between Jönköpings Södra and Östersund was called off when a masked supporter ran onto the pitch and assaulted Östersund goalkeeper Aly Keita.
Two months prior, a fixture between IFK Göteborg and Malmö FF was abandoned after a supporter threw a firework at Malmö player Tobias Sana, who responded by throwing one of the corner flags in the direction of the person. It is not uncommon to see hooligan firms in the standing sections of Sweden's football grounds covering their faces with balaclavas or masks while using flares and fireworks. Sweden has attempted to crack down on violent behaviour at games by banning masks at football stadiums.

Tottenham Hotspur fan beaten up by fellow supporter who mistook him for Chelsea fan
Michael Voller, 23, was punched in the face, causing a broken cheek-bone, eye-socket and skull, after Spurs met Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Saturday April 22.
Officers have released images of the injuries suffered by the former Tottenham Hotspur gardener as they appeal for help identifying the suspect. Mr Voller has since been discharged from hospital but police said there is concern about permanent damage to his eyesight. The Metropolitan Police said the incident took place outside the Moore Spice Restaurant on Engineers Way at around 7.30pm, when the victim was identified and targeted by another group of Tottenham fans walking in the opposite direction.
It is believed that one of the group mistook Mr Voller for a Chelsea supporter and punched him in the face. The suspect is described as a white man, aged in his early 20s and approximately 5ft 10in. He was wearing a black hooded top or jacket.
Detective Constable James Robb, of Brent CID, said: ‘This was a violent and unprovoked assault that has left a young man with some terrible injuries that could end up affecting him for the rest of his life.’

Champions League: Heavy security for Madrid derby semi-final - 28/04/2017
Source : http://www.bbc.com/
More than 2,000 security officers will be on duty for Real Madrid's Champions League semi-final first leg with neighbours Atletico Madrid.
The tie at the Bernabeu on Tuesday has been classified as "high risk" and security will be "reinforced", the Madrid city government said on Friday. Uefa ordered security at European games to be increased after the attack on the Borussia Dortmund team bus on 11 April. Atletico will have 4,000 supporters at Real's 80,000-capacity ground. Usually just a few hundred fans travel to away matches in Spain. The number of security personnel on 2 May will be even higher than Real's last European home game against Bayern Munich when riot police clashed with visiting fans at half-time. There were also violent clashes before Atletico's quarter-final home tie between police and Leicester City fans.

Bastia fans fined for French police clashes - 27/04/2017
Source : http://punchng.com/
Seven Bastia fans were fined up to 1,000 euros ($1,086) each by an appeals court in the northern French city of Reims on Thursday following violent clashes with police. Five of the Corsican supporters were found guilty of “contempt of a person in public authority” and “rebellion”, fined 1,000 euros and banished from all sporting events for a year. The other two were fined 500 euros each. The fines went beyond those requested by prosecutors but were less than the initial 2,000-euro penalties handed out by a court last year.
“The situation degenerated,” Odile Madrolle, president of the appeals court said, with “insults and threats against police”. The situation became uncontrollable after the Bastia match at Reims last year in the French league with objects and smoke bombs hurled at police. The incidents sparked violent protests back in Corsica after a student lost an eye, claiming he was shot by a police rubber bullet. Bastia fans hit the headlines again this month after Lyon players were attacked and the match in Corsica abandoned at half time.

France : PSG fined €100,000, threatened with supporters' ban after damage at Lyon- 27/04/2017
Source : http://www.espnfc.com/
The French Football League (LFP) has fined Paris Saint-Germain and threatened the French champions with a potential supporters' ban because of the damage caused to Parc OL during the 4-1 Coupe de la Ligue final win over Monaco earlier this month.
Seats at Olympique Lyonnais' stadium, the venue for the showpiece match, were ripped up, toilets were smashed and anti-Lyon graffiti was daubed on walls.
Suspicions over who caused the damage centred on the Paris Ultras Collective (CUP) group of hardcore PSG fans. However, the CUP hit back in a statement to Le Parisien in which it condemned the damage caused. After further consideration by the LFP's disciplinary committee, the capital club have been hit with a €100,000 fine and the threat of partial closure of Parc des Princes for two matches.
The suspended sentence would affect the Auteuil end of the stadium, which houses the CUP and generates the atmosphere at PSG's home games. Also included in the punishment was the prohibition of travelling fans for two matches, but that was already served in the recent wins away at Angers and Metz.
"This is a final warning before heavier measures," Le Parisien quoted disciplinary committee president Sebastien Deneux as saying. "We took into account the fact that there have been no problems since the return of the ultras last September but that PSG do not have total control over their organisation.
"The signals sent are a little discomforting. This is a decision that demands PSG take their supporters in hand, particularly this group of ultras."

Old Firm shame: Eight arrests as police probe Rangers fan who appeared to make monkey gesture at Celtic players
Eight football fans have been arrested after the Old Firm derby in which a Rangers fan appeared to make a monkey gesture after Scott Sinclair put Celtic 1-0 ahead. Police confirmed they are aware of the former Man City man being targeted by racist abuse while he celebrated his goal at the Ibrox, according to Heart Scotland News.
Hundreds of Twitter users quickly condemned the action, which occurred in the sixth minute of the match, with many posting the footage alongside comments of outrage. Rangers supporters were also caught on camera throwing objects at the Celtic players after Dedryck Boyata made it 4-0.
Leigh Griffiths held up a what appeared to be a battery to the referee, which apparently came from the stands, as the Bhoys players celebrated the goal. Earlier in the game a Rangers fan was also seen invading the pitch and confronting Scott Brown before the referee was forced to intervene.

CSKA Sofia coaches hit by firework, stones
Three members of CSKA Sofia's coaching staff were hit after fans hurled firecrackers and stones during their 3-0 win over bitter city rivals Levski in the Bulgarian league on Saturday.
Assistant coach Stefan Genov, their German fitness coach, Thomas Neubert, and another assistant, Kiril Dinchev, were all hit when Levski supporters began throwing missiles at the CSKA bench after Brazilian striker Fernando Karanga scored the third goal in the 53rd minute.
Part of a firecracker struck Genov close to his eye, but he told reporters he was fine. "Thomas was injured after he was hit by a stone and Kiril Dinchev was also hit by a stone," he said after the Balkan country’s most explosive derby fixture.
Dinchev said that Neubert's hearing was temporarily damaged in the incidents during the ill-tempered affair, which featured seven yellow and two red cards. The eternal derby, as clashes between the two most popular clubs in Bulgaria are known, has a long history of crowd violence.
A 30-year-old man was killed by a bomb in 2000 and hooliganism and arrests have been rife in the past. In 2014 CSKA coach Stoycho Mladenov was knocked unconscious by a snowball thrown from Levski fans.

Tottenham and Arsenal fans clash as mounted police restore order ahead of north London derby
MOUNTED police were forced to restore order after Tottenham and Arsenal fans clashed before the north London derby. Chairs were thrown and flares let off as rival groups squared up to each other outside White Hart Lane.
A strong police presence was in place in an effort to keep Spurs and Gunners supporters apart on the way to the stadium. But there were still several flashpoints as tempers boiled over ahead of the crucial Premier League game between the two bitter rivals.
Scores of officers were forced to intervene before mounted police came in to help restore order in the streets around thew ground. A huge security operation had been planned in the build-up to the game, with so much riding on the outcome for both clubs.

Arsenal and Manchester City fans filmed fighting outside of Wembley after FA Cup semi-final
Fans of Arsenal and Manchester City were involved in violent clashes as they left Wembley on Sunday.
Fighting broke out as supporters walked out of the national stadium following the FA Cup semi-final, with the shameful scenes being caught on camera.
Punches were thrown between the rival sets of fans, while others were seen rushing away from the incident.
One supporter involved was wearing a red and white hat, while others were wearing light blue.
The fighting, which was filmed by Gooner News TV , appeared to die down as other fans intervened and pulled people away.
An elderly gentleman was seen trying to calm down the situation and attempted to stand between the two sets of fans.
Some fans appeared trapped and were unable to get away from the violence due to the sheer masses of people that were leaving the stadium.
One Twitter user said: "Some people really let themselves down. That age and still cannot act a decent human."
