Aberdeen fans hit out online after picture emerges of damaged seats in Pittodrie away end after Rangers clash
ABERDEEN fans have hit out online after several seats in the Pittodrie away end were left wrecked following yesterday’s game against Rangers.
Pictures of the smashed seats emerged online last night after Gers’ 3-0 win in the Granite City.
And angry Dons fans took to social media to slam the actions of a minority of away supporters.
Danny Hood wrote: “The price of repair should be getting added on to rangers ticket prices, or make the fans pay.”
Danielle Swanwick commented: “End of the day put aside all the slagging each other it’s a game of football and should be enjoyed with no vandalism.”
Scott Duguid demanded: “Half the allocation for next season and bill for damages.”
And Bobby Parker added: “Regardless of who you support, absolutely no need for this behaviour, just another bill for the club to pay, be a different story if the fans involved got arrested and charged for vandalism and pay the costs.”
But Rangers fans were quick to hit back, with some suggesting many seats were already beat-up before they entered the ground.
Scott Campbell said: “Where are the before the game pictures? I was there and can assure you that a lot of those seats were broken before we even got there.
“Unless there are before and after pictures then it’s unfair just to blame Rangers fans.”
Paul Grant insisted: “The sheep do the same to Ibrox when they come down.”
Mark Pirie jested: “Looks like they need new seats anyway to be fair.”
While Dons fan Alex Bowie added: “Fair play to rangers for winning and taking their chances as we didn’t.
“Not really any need to cause damage to the stadium (even if it is a crap away section).”
A late goal blitz clinched a stunning 3-0 win for Gers after a double from Kenny Miller and goal from sub Joe Dodoo.
Both clubs refused to comment.
Earlier this season video footage emerged of a seat being hurled and hitting another supporter on the head during a Pittodrie meeting in September.
The game marked the first time that the two clubs had faced each other in four years after the Ibrox side rejoined the top flight at the start of this season.
Former Aberdeen star James Maddison blasted a last-gasp free-kick as Derek McInnes’ side won 2-1.
Five people have been charged by police – including one for sectarian chanting – following Sunday’s game.

Five supporters arrested after Aberdeen v Rangers match
Five fans have been arrested after the Aberdeen v Rangers game.
A 23-year-old man from Glasgow was charged by police with "sectarian singing" and offences under the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act following the Scottish Premiership match at Pittodrie.
He is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court at a later date.
Police also said four men from Aberdeen - aged 20, 26, 27 and 28 - were charged with "minor public disorder offences" after an incident outside the stadium during the tie.
Match commander superintendent George MacDonald confirmed police are also looking into damage to seating and toilets in the away end of Pittodrie, as well as a flare thrown onto the pitch towards the end of the match, which Rangers won 3-0.
He said: "The vast majority of fans followed the advice given and conducted themselves appropriately.
"We are aware of damage to a number of seats in the away support area and the toilet area and enquiries are ongoing along with the club in relation to this.
"A flare was thrown onto the trackside towards the end of the fixture near to the South/Merkland Road stands and we would appeal for anyone who has information in relation to this to contact us or the club as soon as possible."

Leicester City fans arrested for 'causing a mess'
Spanish police have said eight Leicester City fans were arrested for "causing a mess" ahead of their Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid. The fans remain in custody following clashes with police on Tuesday evening and will appear in court on Thursday. Police said six officers were also attacked in the disturbances. BBC journalist Phil Mackie said he witnessed what appeared to be an unprovoked attack from officers. He said he met supporters who had been left bruised after being hit on the head, arms and knees.
The correspondent told 5 live the trouble happened in the Plaza Mayor, where Foxes fans had been told they could gather. He said he found a number of young Leicester fans with bruises, who had been hit on the head, arms and knees and while some were drunk, they seemed dazed as well. He witnessed police charging a group of Leicester fans who seemed to be just walking past and three were pushed to the ground, hit with batons and bundled into the back of vans.
Aaron Richard Howells, who was in the square, said there was a lot of good-natured singing from supporters, but some younger fans got too close to police with their chanting. He said: "We [witnessed] police targeting groups of people, smashing beers from tables and even them throwing chairs towards the fans as well charging with batons and riot shields."
However, supporter June Webb - who was in the square - said some ticketless fans told her they liked to make a nuisance of themselves and "expected trouble later". A spokesman for Leicester City said: "We have received reports from local police of a small number of arrests following minor incidents in Madrid on Tuesday evening.
"We have provided extensive advice for travelling supporters ahead of every away fixture in the competition and we would urge our fans to adhere to the guidance issued." Spanish newspaper La Voz de Galicia reported that riot gear was used to disperse about 300 supporters.

France steps up security as Lyon hosts 15,000 Turkish football fans
French officials have stepped up security in Lyon ahead of the home team’s Europa League quarter-final match against Besiktas on Thursday, with thousands of Turkish fans converging on the city to support the Istanbul team.
Security has been tightened due to the attack on the Borussia Dortmund team bus on Tuesday night, which injured a player and forced a match against French club Monaco to be postponed by 24 hours.
French authorities had already labelled Thursday’s quarter-final in Lyon a “high-risk” match, fearing it might be used by Turkish fans to make a political statement, only a few days before a controversial referendum in their country.
Between 15,000 and 20,000 Turkish fans – from Turkey, France and other European countries – are expected to travel to the central French city of Lyon for the game.
Some 500 officers, including riot police, will be stationed around the stadium, more than twice the number usually deployed for a football match.
Local authorities have also banned supporters from entering the stadium with jerseys, scarves, flags and banners other than those of the teams and countries they represent.
Lyon club officials have apologised to the home fans for a “communication glitch” over ticket sales, which led to Turkish fans in and outside France snapping up a third of all seats in the 60,000-capacity stadium.
On Monday, club president Jean-Michel Aulas urged Lyon supporters to rally behind their team, “because there will be a strong opposition and many Turks inside the stadium”.

Europa League clash between Lyon and Besiktas delayed as fans pile onto pitch following shocking violence in stands
LYON’s Europa League clash with Besiktas was been delayed for 45 minutes after shocking scenes saw home supporters flee onto the pitch in terror after being attacked by visiting fans. The distressing images from the Parc Olympique Lyonnais stadium follow hours of clashing among rival French and Turkish followers earlier in the city.
Twenty minutes prior to the 8.05pm kick-off, fans began to spill onto the field fearing for their safety as fireworks were set off and missiles thrown towards them from the Besiktas section in the upper tier.
Jean-Michel Aulas, Lyon president, was among officials on the pitch attempting to restore order. A number of a harrowing images have now emerged of the violence.
Fans were snapped angrily clashing with armoured police, most wearing black signalling the club’s Ultras – and some waving the Turkish flag and letting off smoke bombs. A number of stewards appeared to be wounded in the violence and were led away by police and medics, while one fan had blood streaming down his face. Eventually, police and security managed to restore order and the match was able to get underway around 45 minutes after the trouble erupted.

8 Leicester Fans Jailed After Violent Clashes With Police Ahead of Atletico Champions League Tie - 14/04/2017
Source : http://www.90min.com/
Leicester City's fan reputation has taken a further blow after it was confirmed that eight of the club's supporters face jail time following Tuesday's violent clashes in Madrid.
Marca has reported that the octuplet have been handed sentences of four and six months, depending on the severity of their actions, in the build up the Foxes' Champions League quarter-final first leg match with Atletico Madrid.
Judges in Spain's capital opted to throw the book at those who were found guilty of clashing with police on duty ahead of the Leicester's s lender 1-0 defeat at the Vicente Calderon Stadium, with the six-month jail terms being reserved for those who physically assaulted and hurt any officers who were present to quell the trouble.
Leicester supporters were filmed on Tuesday as they clashed with police in Madrid's Plaza Mayor after fans began chanting "Gilbraltar is ours" after the growing tensions between the UK and Spain over who owns the island in the wake of Britain's decision to exit the European Union.
Footage posted on social media sites showed Foxes fans throwing missiles at police officers, who retaliated by striking supporters with batons - some of whom were with children - in indiscriminate attacks, while others claimed that tear gas and rubber bullets were also used.
Around 70 Leicester fans were said to have been involved in the most violent clashes as the trouble flared around 9:30pm local time, with a total of 10 arrested for their part in the skirmishes.
In the aftermath of the encounter, Leicester released an official statement revealing their intent to hold discussions with Europe's football governing body UEFA about the violence.
The club said: "We are working with Uefa and the local authorities to establish the full facts of what took place and the reasons for the police response. We will also be liaising with travelling supporters before deciding on any course of action."
Emergency services also confirmed that around 13 people were injured during the the scuffles, but that none of those who sustained injuries required hospital treatment.

Lyon say they are 'victims' of Besiktas hooligans as investigation begins - 14/04/2017
Source : http://www.espn.co.uk/
Facing possible sanctions from UEFA after the crowd disorder that delayed its Europa League quarterfinal against Besiktas, French club Lyon said Friday it was the "victim" of visiting hooligans. Incidents inside Lyon's Parc OL, which will host the final next season, followed fighting among rival French and Turkish fans earlier in the city on Thursday. About 20 minutes before the scheduled kickoff, Lyon fans spilled onto the field for their own safety as fireworks were set off and missiles thrown from an upper section of the stadium housing Besiktas supporters. The game did finally kick off 45 minutes late after police intervened in the stands. Lyon's deputy general counsel, Vincent Ponsot, admitted the French league club's responsibility in the disorder but insisted Besiktas fans created the trouble. "As organisers we bear a part of the responsibility, except that it is clear that we have been the victim of an aggression that did not come from supporters, but from Turkish hooligans," Ponsot told a news conference, adding that UEFA had opened a disciplinary procedure. Lyon's director of security, Annie Saladin, said about 50 Turkish fans forced their way inside the stadium and were responsible for the trouble. She said they threw projectiles from the upper stands, forcing other supporters to find shelter on the pitch. "Even with 700 police officers we did not manage to contain this group," Saladin said. "They were determined and they got what they wanted." Saladin added that, once identified, the group of violent fans was evacuated from the stadium by police. However, some Lyon fans also sought to confront their Turkish counterparts outside the stadium before the game -- and then inside the stadium -- with dozens clashing.

Carlisle United fans arrested at League Two clash with Hartlepool
Nine Carlisle United fans were arrested at today's League Two derby versus Hartlepool United. Cumbria Police say that the fans were arrested for a "variety of offences" at Hartlepool's Victoria Park stadium. However, it appears that the game was completed without any major crowd trouble and officers praised the vast majority of the travelling supporters. More than 1,000 Cumbrians made the trip over to the north east for the match which finished 1-1. Blues officials had warned fans they could face football bans if they caused trouble at the game. They urged fans to roar their team on but not to misbehave. In the past in fixtures between these two teams fans have been arrested for possession of pyrotechnics - flares - public disorder, invading the pitch and drunkenness.

Violent clashes erupt at Port Vale v Sheffield United after SMOKE BOMB launched at crowd
The chaotic scenes broke out between rival fans ahead of Sheffield United’s win against Port Vale yesterday (April 14).
Trouble flared just two minutes into the game when a smoke bomb was hurled into the home end by visiting Blades supporters at Vale Park. A group of Port Vale fans then tried to storm the away stand with unconfirmed reports suggesting a youngster was hit by the missile. Staffordshire Police Commander Superintendent Carl Ratcliffe said: “It became apparent there were groups of people intent on being involved in disorder. “Our priority was to ensure we disrupted the intentions of a minority with their minds set on causing trouble.”
Two men were arrested by police for public order offences and another man was arrested on suspicion of assault in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. Port Vale Supporters’ club vice chairman Mark Porter said: “People should not be throwing flares, somebody could get seriously injured. "People should think about their actions as they could have grave consequences and seriously hurt somebody.
"I think when there is trouble it ruins the day and what should be a game of football." One Vale supporter, commenting on the clip online, said: “I had the misfortune to be sat behind cretins who call themselves United Fans. “They were intent on goading the home fans, chanting obscenities and had no interest in watching the match. What kind of mindless moron takes a flare to a football match and throws it at anyone ?”

Jamie O’Hara grabs fan in angry confrontation as former Spurs star sees promotion dream for non-league moneybags Billericay end
EX-SPURS star Jamie O’Hara grabbed a fan amid shameful scenes as the promotion dream of non-league moneybags Billericay ended. The former Wolves midfielder confronted baying supporters – some chanting “what a waste of money” – as players walked off after a 3-2 defeat at Leatherhead.
Our exclusive photos and a video tweeted by fan Alex @alexkeenan show O'Hara appearing to lunge and take hold of a supporter next to the tunnel.
A team-mate pulls him away in scenes that will shock the part-time Ryman League.
Fan Will Isaacs said: “Jamie went for the kid and then a player pulled him back. “He then smashed the cage that separates the fans from the players.’’ Another spectator said: “A lad went to give him a high-five but he took the p*** and moved his hand away and Jamie just lost the plot.’’ Last night cops from Surrey Police were at the home of the fan involved in the incident. A force spokesman confirmed it is investigating the alleged assault, adding: "No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
Leatherhead FC director Duncan Evans said: “There was an incident at the end of the game with Jamie O’Hara and police are going to visit the teenager in question. “A Leatherhead spectator who was involved in an incident with Jamie was asked to leave. We are investigating the exact circumstances of what happened and would ask anyone who has any footage or pictures to get in touch.’’
O’Hara and Billericay Town FC — partly owned by ex-Towie star Mark Wright — were unavailable for comment. A spokesman for the Ryman League said: “We are aware of the reports but we cannot comment until we see what the referee says.’’ O'Hara's angry clash comes just a week after he tweeted about scoring the "best goal of his career" - an overhead kick in another costly loss, 3-2 at home to Enfield Town. Billericay owner-manager Glenn Tamplin sparked a play-off charge with a huge injection of cash in December, bringing in O'Hara and ex-Liverpool left-back Paul Konchesky, plus National League players.

Bastia fans storm pitch and attempt to attack Lyon players ahead of Ligue 1 clash
Bastia fans have stormed their pitch in an attempt to attack the Lyon players ahead of their Ligue 1 clash. The two sides were due to kick-off at 4pm at Armand Cesari, until crowds of supporters began running onto the pitch.
Lyon's official Twitter account confirmed what happened, with the claim: "Bastia supporters have entered the field to square up to Lyon players who were finishing their warm-up." TV cameras captured the unsightly scenes as stewards attempted to get between the fans and the Lyon players.
Former Manchester United winger Memphis Depay is seen in videos of the incident, as fans confront the players on the pitch.
The incident occurs just days after Lyon fans were forced to run onto the pitch in their Champions League clash with Besiktas. The game at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais had been due to kick off at 8:05pm, but didn't get underway until 45 minutes later.

Now officials of high-flying AFC Fylde are appealing for witnesses to come forward and identify the thugs involved. The attack came after Fylde’s 1-0 win at Halifax Town on Good Friday - a result which put the club on the brink of promotion to the National League. As two supporters’ coaches left the ground they came under fire from a group of alleged Halifax fans who pelted them with missiles. Both coaches had windows smashed, but no-one was seriously hurt.“There is no place in football for this type of behaviour,” said Fylde chief executive Neil Joy. “It was a miracle that none of our fans was hurt.“It was an unprovoked and senseless attack and it is a shame that the incident took the shine off what was a fantastic day and result foe the team.“We have photos of the alleged culprits and we are giving every assistance to the police to bring those responsible to justice. “Anyone with information please contact the club.”Joh Fleet, one of the coach drivers, added: “It was pretty frightening. We were abandoned by the stewards halfway back to the coaches from the stadium and there was a group of thigs just waiting for us.“They were throwing bricks and bottles at us, but thankfully no-one was seriously hurt. Bastia v Lyon abandoned after home fans invade pitch and attack players - 16/04/2017
Source : https://www.theguardian.com/
Bastia’s match against Lyon was abandoned at half-time after home supporters twice invaded the pitch to attack opposition players. After kick-off was delayed by 55 minutes, the game was stopped for good when more trouble erupted at the interval with the score 0-0. The Lyon goalkeeper, Anthony Lopes, was calmly walking off the field after the referee Amaury Delerue signalled the end of the first half when he was confronted by a man. Lopes pushed him back as clashes erupted between home fans and Lyon players. Television pictures had earlier shown the Lyon players running off the Bastia pitch and returning to their dressing-room to escape the fans. They initially refused to take to the pitch but were eventually persuaded to start before further incident caused the game to be abandoned.
Reports in France claimed the Lyon players had boarded the team bus but were forced to return to the changing room after Corsican authorities were unable to guarantee their safety.
“Bastia fans kicked balls into [Mathieu] Gorgelin’s goal,” said the defender Jeremy Berthod. “He and Memphis [Depay] tried to move them out of the way before being attacked by many SC Bastia fans. The players then huddled together. They and the staff are very shocked. The moment it happened, none of them wanted to come out of the dressing room and play this match.” The French league said its disciplinary commission would investigate and urged Bastia to ban the fans responsible. “The French league is asking Bastia to take all necessary measures in order to issue stadium bans against those responsible for these acts,” the league said. “And more generally to take all measures required to guarantee security.” In February, Bastia were ordered to close part of their stadium for three matches after a group of supporters shouted racist insults at the Nice striker Mario Balotelli during a 1-1 draw in January. It was the second time in a week that Lyon had faced hooligan problems, after crowd trouble before Thursday’s Europa League game in Lyon against the Turkish side Besiktas, which is being investigated by Uefa.

Ligue 1 side Bastia have announced a number of measures the club will take following the violence that occurred on Sunday afternoon before and during their league match with Lyon.
Violent scenes erupted at Stade Armand Cesari ahead of Bastia’s game with Lyon last week, with kick-off delayed by 55 minutes as Bastia fans tried to attack visiting players during their warm-up.
Stewards held off fans while players were rushed down the tunnel before a gate was closed behind Bruno Genesio’s players and staff. Lyon were then persuaded to start the match – having initially refused – before another incident caused the the game to be abandoned at half time.
Bastia have now released an official statement, which states they will close the East Jojo-Petrignani stand which saw supporters pouring out from on Sunday, and even ordered the restructure of that part of the stadium.
The statement read: “Following the incidents that marred the Ligue 1 match against Olympique Lyonnais, Sporting Club de Bastia decided, as announced on Sunday evening, to take strong measures to ensure that this type of event can never happen again. – The closure until further notice of the East Jojo-Petrignani stand – A stadium ban for all persons involved in the incidents of violence, at least those who can be identified. The Ligue de Football Professionnel, which governs France’s professional leagues, will reportedly meet on Thursday to decide what action to take against Bastia and their fans.
