Bomb blasts targeting football fans kill one in Nigeria - 11/12/2011
Three bomb blasts targeting bars where fans watched the Real Madrid-Barcelona football match rocked the Nigerian city of Jos, officials said Sunday, with one death and 10 injuries reported. The bombs were said to have been planted near outdoor bars -- called "viewing centres" in Nigeria -- late Saturday in the city, which has been hit by waves of violence between Christian and Muslim ethnic groups in recent years. "So far, we have evacuated 10 people that sustained various degrees of injuries from the blasts to hospital," said Red Cross official Manata Bambe, who declined to comment on the number of deaths. An official with the Stefanos Foundation, a Christian NGO, said one person was killed. "There were three blasts, all targeting soccer viewing centres," said Mark Lipdo. "The bombs were detonated outside the viewing centres, which was responsible for the low casualty recorded." He said of the 10 people wounded, four were in critical condition, including two who were in comas. "One person was killed in the blast," he said, adding that the victim had been decapitated by the explosion. Pam Ayuba, spokesman for the governor of Plateau state, where Jos is the capital, also reported three blasts with one person killed, though he said seven were wounded. The explosions occurred in predominantly Christian areas of the city. Violence in recent years in Jos and the surrounding area between Christian and Muslim ethnic groups has killed thousands of people. Plateau state lies in the middle-belt region between the mainly Muslim north and predominantly Christian south of Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation. Nigeria's north has been hit by scores of attacks blamed on the Islamist sect known as Boko Haram, which also claimed responsibility for the August suicide bombing of UN headquarters in the capital Abuja which killed 24 people. The Islamist group also claimed responsibility for a string of bomb blasts on Christmas Eve 2010 in Jos, but it was unclear whether it was involved in Saturday night's attacks.

Galatasaray women’s volleyball team was attacked by Greek hooligans during their European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) Cup encounter with Greek Cypriot side Apollon Limassol on Friday. As Galatasaray was close to win the game, the spectators began to throw objects onto the court. The İstanbul team won the game 3-0, a repetition of the score of the two teams’ earlier match in Turkey. “I have been in sports for 33 ye-ars and never seen such a chaos,” Galatasaray assistant coach Reşat Arig told the Anatolia news agency. He explained that Greek Cypriot hooligans began to throw objects onto the court towards the end of the game and police did not take action to stop the attack. The officers began to intervene in the row when the fans started to attack them. The game could be finished after the hooligans were taken off the court.

Fortuna Sittard - Willem II Tilburg - 09/12/2011
Source : mail (thanks to the sender) - Fortuna view
Free transport for Willem II to Sittard. 150 of Willem II hardcore fans were in early afternoon in Sittard city centre. 70 lads and 80 fanatic fans all together at the same pub drinking. We ( Sittard ) had 70 boys that day ( including a few friends of Belgium side Genk ) . All corners of the city centre guarded by police so we told Tilburg that we couldn't reach them before the match. We asked them to split their boys away from the fanatics and normal fans when they got deported to the ground with police protection. They said they tried to come to back side from our trainstation when police was gone . We gathered not in or usual pub and walked to trainstation and waited in the dark for Willem II lads. But they didn't showed up . Police transported most of them to the ground as well . 45 minutes walking without police presence did us decide to go to the ground as well .
After the match Tilburg got police with them to transfer them to trainstation but we walked from other road to a big crossroad and their we run into their big train group ( lads and fanatics together from them ) Police and Tilburg lads were surprised because they didn't expected that. Enough punches were changed by both firms and then police waded in from all around us. We had to run on the road for police but there had another fight with some Tilburg lads. Police chased them and us every where . So then we walked away from the scene for not getting arrested. Nice day for both firms I guess. No arrests and some small fights and chaos .. Hard enough in these days over here to have a good fight without getting arrested .
