| KRC Genk - RSC Charleroi - 12/05/2007Source: mail (thanks to the sender) We left Charleroi with 20 youths. Prior to the game, we phoned to locals who gave us several meeting-points. Finally they said they left for the stadium. At the end of the game, we gave another meeting-point. Genk said they arrived but they didn't. A few Charleroi lads, disappointed about Genkies, left the city. We stayed there with 11 and phoned them again 1 hour and half atter the game. Finally they arrived with 40/50 (??). We charged them..Genk hesitated and backed off...but another group of them arrived. We stayed at the fight but totally outnumbered. Genk lads threw bricks, seats and used their belts. Finally we backed off when police forces arrived and chased us. Genkies said we were the only ones to came in Genk and fought with them, for the last 5 years. 20 CH youth prior to the game _________________

| IFA calls for tougher legislation to combat crowd violence - 14/05/2007
Source : Ha'aretz
Israel Football Association (IFA) prosecutor Shalom Ibn Ezra yesterday demanded that the courts hand down stiffer sentences to soccer hooligans.
In a letter to Attorney General Menachem Mazuz, Ibn Ezra called for his assistance in the fight against racism and violence at soccer games.
"Together with the police we are doing our job, but in order to eradicate the phenomenon of violence and racism, we need the help of the courts," Ibn Ezra said. Meanwhile, the IFA will not prosecute Maccabi Tel Aviv for racists slurs chanted by its fans against Hakoah Ramat Gan goalkeeper Marshal Oudah at the weekend.
Only a few fans were involved in the incident and their motivation was apparently to try and get the club slammed with a crowd ban in order to prevent Beitar Jerusalem fans from celebrating their team's Premier League championship when the two teams meet next weekend.
Beitar has been unable to celebrate at its own ground after being slapped with a four-match crowd ban after fans invaded the pitch during a match against Hapoel Petah Tikva just over a week ago.
"Just because of three stupid fans we don't deserve to receive a punishment that will cost us NIS 1 million," said Maccabi chairman Loni Herzikovic.
"We need to work together with the IFA and the police in order to deal with these fans and for the courts to send them to prison. I plan to issue a civil suit against them," he added. "If we had been punished just because those fans don't want to see Beitar celebrate its title at Bloomfield, I would have instructed that the game be transfered to Jerusalem's Teddy Stadium."

| Wolverhampton Wanderers - West Bromwich Albion - 13/05/2007
Source : BBC News
Officers praise derby match fans
Police have praised fans after the Black Country derby passed off without any violence between supporters. West Bromwich Albion beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 at Molineux in the first leg of their Championship Play-Off clash on Sunday.
Supt Tony Styles, of West Midlands Police, said both sets of fans had "entered into the spirit of the game".
Two fans were arrested after invading the pitch while another was arrested for breaching a football banning order.
In January, eight football fans were arrested and 11 police officers injured during clashes following Albion's 3-0 FA Cup victory at Molineux.
But Supt Styles said the fans' behaviour was much improved on this occasion.
He added: "We are grateful to all the support we received from Molineux, local businesses and licensed premises in the area who agreed not to serve alcohol before or during the game and this no doubt contributed to the fantastic behaviour displayed by both sets of fans."

| Centurions ban yob fans - 16/05/2007
Source : This Is Lancashire
LEIGH Centurions officials have come down hard on hooligans who caused trouble at a recent home game.
A two-year banning order has been handed out to one yob while two more are expected to imposed this week.
The banning orders prevent the named spectators from entering Hilton Park or the new stadium at the Leigh Sports Village when it is completed.
The move from the Centurions comes after disturbances inside and outside the ground at the game against Castleford on May 6.
One man was ejected after streaking across the pitch at half time while there were reports of visiting fans being attacked by a small group outside the stadium.
After viewing available CCTV footage, and having confirmed his identity with the Football Intelligence Unit of Greater Manchester Police, management of the Centurions placed a two-year ban on one man. Ongoing enquiries with Greater Manchester Police will result in two more men being issued with banning orders this week.
A spokesman for the Centurions said: "The behaviour shown by these individuals has no place in Rugby League or in society in general and Sporting Club Leigh will continue with it's zero tolerance' policy in keeping with the RFL Respect' initiative and with the support of Greater Manchester Police.

Cabbie remanded on suspicion of killing supporter in March brawl
A taxi driver was remanded in custody yesterday on suspicion of being one of the men involved in the death of a Panathinaikos fan in March in Paeania, east of Athens. The unnamed man was remanded after being questioned by a magistrate investigating the death of 22-year-old Michalis Filopoulos during a mass brawl between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos hooligans. Three witnesses have identified the suspect but he denies taking part in the attack on Filopoulos and claims he was driving his taxi at the time of the brawl. | River Plate receive new Monumental ban after fan violence - 19/05/2007Source : AFP Argentine giants River Plate will not be able to play at their home ground of Monumental Stadium for two home matches after fan violence there earlier this month. It was the second such penalty imposed by the Argentinian interior ministry on River Plate this season after a five-match ban imposed in February for similar reasons. The latest ban comes after clashes inside and outside the stadium following River Plate's May 6 draw with Independiente that left four seriously wounded, including one minor hit by bullets.

| Unruly fans face ban from county grounds - 19/05/2007
Source : NW Evening Mail
HOOLIGANS who cause mayhem at Craven Park or Holker Street could be banned from every major sports ground in the county under a new scheme.
In an effort to stamp out thuggery at sporting events, Stadium Watch has been set up.
Similar to Barrow's Barwatch scheme that has seen troublemakers barred from every participating pub, Stadium Watch is the first scheme involving sports clubs in the country.
It will see a major crackdown to wipe out troublemakers by Cumbria’s cops, local rugby, football, speedway and horse racing clubs.
It aims to reduce incidents of violence, disorder and anti-social behaviour linked to sporting events and make them more family friendly.
The initiative was launched on Thursday by Sports Minister, Richard Caborn, in the west of the county. Stadium Watch involves clubs and other agencies working together to find solutions to problems relating to violence, anti-social behaviour and public order linked to sports.
Those who have signed up so far include Barrow Raiders, Barrow AFC, Workington and Whitehaven Rugby League club, the town’s speedway and Workington Reds AFC, plus Carlisle United and Carlisle Race Course.
Cumbria Chief Superintendent, Ian Cardwell describes Stadium Watch as an important part of the nationwide Respect campaign to crack down on anti-social behaviour.
He said: “We have had significant success with our Pubwatch scheme and this is the next phase of that.
“Whether socialising in our town centre or visiting our stadiums a very small minority of people continue to cause trouble for the peaceful majority. We can use the courts and other methods to address these issues but there is no doubt that taking away the opportunity to visit the pubs and stadiums has a real impact on offenders.”
Assistant Chief Constable, Graham Sunderland, said: “Sporting events in Cumbria are being made family friendly. Families need and deserve to feel confident that they can attend these events in safety.
“Banning offenders from sports stadiums around the county will act as a significant deterrent to those determined to cause trouble.
“It will hit troublemakers where it hurts — by having a huge impact on their social life and making them think twice about acting in an anti-social manner.”
