Sanction for the closure of the stands for Lazio for the racist insults to Umtiti - 05/01/2023
Source : https://sportsfinding.com/
Lazio will have the Curva Nord of the Olympic Stadium closed in the duel this Sunday against Empoli as a sanction known this Thursday for the racist insults that the Roman fans directed in the last clash against Lecce at Samuel Umtiti and Lameck Banda.
Umtiti, who is on loan from FC Barcelona to Lecce, and Banda were subjected to racist insults by the fans of the Roman team, who was a visitor, which caused the referee to stop the match. The center-back left the field crying after the final whistle in what was a new incident carried out by one of the most radical supporters in the country.
Serie A, in a meeting with its disciplinary judge, decided to sanction the partial closure of the stands where the ultras of Lazio are located at the Olímpico, ahead of this Sunday’s match of matchday 17 of the Italian league. In addition, the Inter-Naples on Wednesday is also under investigation for racist insults about the Belgian striker Lukaku.

Italy : Roma and Napoli fans clash on motorway - 08/01/2023
Source : https://www.leggo.it/ + local press
There are long queues on the motorway caused by reported clashes between Roma and Napoli fans who crossed paths on their way to games against Milan and Sampdoria respectively.
According to Il Messaggero, the Roma fans were travelling the same motorway towards Milan for tonight’s Serie A match at San Siro, while the Neapolitan supporters were heading towards Genoa for an earlier kick-off.
The trouble has been so bad that one lane of the Autostrada del Sole, the main motorway linking north to south, has been shut down, prompting queues of circa 8km.
Initial reports from eye-witnesses claim they were throwing fireworks and smoke bombs at each other outside the service station.
RAI News claim the trouble started when a bus full of Napoli fans saw the Roma coach going past and started throwing rocks and bottles.
The Roma vehicle then pulled over and they got out to walk towards the Napoli ultras along the side of the motorway, clashing at the service station.
Circa 300 fans were involved and one has been taken to hospital with injuries.
The clashes are reportedly at the same motorway service station where Lazio DJ and supporter Gabriele Sandri was accidentally shot dead by police trying to break up a fight between Lazio and Juventus ultras in 2007.
He was in the back of a car driving away from the scene when the stray bullet caught him.
There has always been a bitter rivalry between these sets of ultras, which famously hit the worst point when a Napoli supporter called Ciro Esposito was shot and killed by a Roma fan before the Coppa Italia Final between Napoli and Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome in May 2014.

Italy: Napoli blast hooligans after fighting fans cause motorway chaos - 09/01/2023
Source : https://www.france24.com/
Napoli condemned on Monday "so-called supporters" who caused chaos on a major Italian motorway at the weekend by fighting with fans from rival club Roma.
Napoli fans were travelling to Genoa to see their team beat Sampdoria 4-0, while Roma supporters were on their way to AC Milan where their team draw 2-2.
Hardcore "ultra" supporters of both teams were involved in serious clashes on the A1 motorway on Sunday afternoon after they bumped into each other at the Badia al Pino service station in Tuscany.
Nicknamed the "sunshine motorway", the A1 runs from Naples to Rome and then all the way to Milan in northern Italy.
"Napoli strongly condemns the behaviour by so-called supporters, who unfortunately still attend football matches in Italy, which involved creating disruption and danger for true fans," Serie A leaders Napoli said in a statement.
"They also struck fear into people who had nothing to do with football on the A1 motorway."
Videos posted on social media by public broadcaster RAI show dozens of supporters fighting with flares, belts and bats as police sirens blare in the background.
Italian media report police as saying that the running battles led to the motorway being blocked for 50 minutes, creating queues up to 15 kilometres long.
"It was a crazy act which put in serious danger people travelling on one of the country's most important roads," Roberto Rossi, chief public prosecutor in Arezzo, was quoted as saying.
Napoli highlighted how football hooliganism in England has been reduced since the 1980s, calling on the Italian government "to swiftly take appropriate measures of a radical nature".
"It is unacceptable for violent people to travel across Italy and attend stadiums without any consequences," added Napoli.
Football Federation chief Gabriele Gravina decried as "shameful what happened", adding that "institutions can and must do more".
"These people have nothing to do with sport and should be punished," he said.
Football violence is nowhere near as widespread in Italy as it was in the past but on occasion high-profile clashes between fans put the issue back in the headlines.
In December 2018 a fan was killed by a passing van during a huge battle between Inter Milan and Napoli fans just a few minutes walk from the San Siro.

Italy : Roma ultras arrested for brawl with Napoli fans already freed - 10/01/2023
Source : https://football-italia.net/
There have been two arrests for the brawl between Roma and Napoli ultras on a motorway, but they have already been released.
The clashes occurred in Tuscany on the A1 at a motorway service station called Badia Al Pino, which is where Lazio DJ Gabriele Sandri was accidentally shot by a stray police bullet during another fight.
Roma supporters were on their way to the Milan game at San Siro on Sunday, while Napoli fans were travelling to Genoa for the Sampdoria match when they crossed paths and started throwing objects at each other.
The situation deteriorated when they got out of their buses and began brawling in the road.
According to La Repubblica newspaper, Roma ultras Emiliano Bigi and Filippo Lombardi were arrested, but have already been released.
The magistrate opted not to confirm the arrest because they were not caught in flagrante, nor did he recognise the urgency of keeping them behind bars to avoid repeat brawls.

Football banning orders in England and Wales soar 230 per cent in a year as police crack down on pitch invaders and fans taking fireworks, missiles and drugs into grounds - 12/01/2023
Source : https://www.dailymail.co.uk/
Football banning orders issued in relation to matches in England and Wales have increased notably in the first half of the current season compared to the same period last season, according to new police figures.
Data released by the UK Football Policing Unit on Thursday showed there were 343 banning orders issued between July 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022, an increase of 230 per cent compared to the same period in the 2021-22 campaign.
The huge increase in banning orders is seen by police chiefs as evidence of the 'positive action' that officers and the Crown Prosecution Service are taking to tackle the problems behind football disorder, which is still described as being at 'worrying' levels.
From November 10 last year, anyone convicted of either possessing or supplying class A drugs at a regulated game could be made subject to a banning order.
Reported incidents at matches were down 19 per cent to 661, but that still represented the second-highest mid-season figure on record. Incidents were reported at 43 per cent of the 1,550 matches covered by the data.
Incidents involving supporter drug use increased by 42 per cent, while incidents featuring pyrotechnics increased by 12 per cent.
Hate crime incidents at matches were down by 24 per cent - with 157 in the first half of 2022-23 compared to 206 in 2021-22. However, there were 29 incidents of online hate allegations, a 53 per cent increase compared to the same period in the previous season - 19.
Pitch incursions were also down 39 per cent compared to the corresponding period in the previous season - 120 instances compared to 199.
The National Police Chiefs' Council's football policing lead, Chief Constable Mark Roberts of Cheshire Police, said: 'These figures show that we are continuing to see a worrying level of disorder at football matches across the country at all levels.
'Whilst the total number of incidents reported is down, this is still the second highest figure we have seen, and it is particularly concerning to see a rise in pyrotechnics, missiles, drug use and attacks on stadium staff.
'We have seen some positive strides made this season including the introduction of football banning orders for people caught in possession of drugs and the introduction of stadium bans for people who enter the pitch, as well as those who use pyrotechnics.
'The increase in arrests and football banning orders also demonstrates that the police are taking positive action to tackle the problems, working closely with the CPS.
'But what the figures show is that disorder at football has sadly not gone away, and we are continuing to work with partners including the Premier League, EFL and FA to collectively make football a safe environment for the overwhelming majority of supporters who just want to enjoy the game.'

AEL Limassol - Apollon Limassol - Cup - 11/01/2023

Source : https://in-cyprus.philenews.com/
Hooligans on Wednesday caused over €25,000 of damages at the brand new “Alphamega” stadium in Limassol during the coastal city’s local derby between Ael and Apollon teams.
This is what Philenews reported on Friday, adding that hooligans from both teams tore up seats of the north and east stands during halftime and threw them at each other.
Police investigators have footage from the closed-circuit television surveillance of the stadium in their hands and arrests are imminent, the report also said.
The damage to the new stadium amounts to about €25,000 with the hooligans destroying more than 200 seats but also broke part of the glass partition and caused damage to the toilets of the stadium.
The atrocities took place after the end of the first half when a firecracker was initially thrown and then AEL fans approached the divider railing, leading to a reaction from Apollon supporters.
The incidents lasted for about five minutes and stopped after members of riot squad members rushed in.
