Two Celtic fans 'stabbed by masked Lazio ultras outside Irish pub in Rome' ahead of Europa League match
Two Celtic fans have reportedly been stabbed by Lazio ultras outside a pub ahead of their Europa League match.
According to BBC journalist Chris McLaughlin, the supporters suffered injuries that were 'not life threatening' in the violent attack late on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred outside The Flann O'Brien in the city centre, where visiting fans were drinking after arriving earlier that day.
The Daily Record claim that a group of Lazio hooligans, who arrived at the pub with their faces covered by scarves, carried out the attack.
A picture posted to Twitter appears to show blood-soaked bandages on the street.
Police were filmed on the scene shortly after the stabbing and the pub was closed around 30 minutes after the incident. An investigation is now underway.
A witness told The Scottish Sun: 'The boy was sitting outside with his girlfriend and he was stabbed in the back of the leg.
'They came out of nowhere. He was doing nothing wrong. They were shouting 'Lazio' and had masks on their faces.
'There was a group of them, all their faces were covered with masks or scarves.'
There have been suggestions that one fan was stabbed twice, rather than two sustaining separate injuries, although details remain unclear at this stage.
In a separate incident, masked Lazio ultras can be seen smashing the windows of another bar in a video posted to Twitter, as a member of staff closes its metal shutters in a bid to protect those inside.
Fans can be heard shouting obscenities as the glass shatters, although nobody appeared to be hurt.
Around 9,000 Celtic fans have made the journey to Italy despite the threat of violence from Lazio's hardcore contingent.
They were advised not to wear club colours by the Foreign Office, although that warning was ignored by many on Wednesday night.
The violence erupted two weeks after Lazio fans were filmed making fascist salutes as they walked through Glasgow, prior to the Hoops' 2-1 win at Celtic Park.
Celtic's Green Brigade hit back during the game by displaying a huge banner showing fascist leader Benito Mussolini hanging upside down, with the message 'follow your leader'.
The Scottish club were charged by UEFA over the banner, with fears it could provoke Lazio fans ahead of Thursday night's game in the Italian capital.

Police arrested 28 individuals involved for public disorder offences, in an incident which is thought to have started when graffiti appeared on Tajo Street, a meeting area of Real Betis’ ultras, in which vexatious terms were used against the side.
A few days later more graffiti was found, this time in the usual meeting area of the radical fans of Sevilla.
A fight was organised between the two sides, and when it took place, police made attempts to bring it under control, leading to a number of arrests.
Two were injured, one with wounds, the other with a broken arm.

Police officers detained 12 hooligans after a fight in the center of Lviv. Two police officers were injured and two police cars were damaged.
Police said about 100 football fans (ukrainians, french and germans) fought in the center.

Arrived at the Parc des Princes, the Belgians also provoked some fights with PSG fans. The police made 31 arrests, including 25 Belgians, Porte de Saint-Cloud.

Fan arrested as Slovan fans swamp city centre ahead of Wolves match
Hundreds of fans from Slovan Bratislava flooded Wolverhampton city centre this evening with reports of clashes with Wolves supporters and flares being set off.
Police say one fan has been arrested following an allegation of a racially motivated public order offence ahead of tonight's Europa League cup game.
However reports of a Wolves fan being stabbed are not true, West Midlands Police said, with Chief Constable David Thompson describing the Slovakian fans as "very good natured".
It comes after reports of trouble at the Red Wings Lodge, near Molineux, last night when a flare was allegedly set off inside the building.
Wolves won the away fixture in Slovakia 2-1 last month "behind closed doors" under a Uefa sanction for racism from Bratislava fans, although more than 20,000 fans were inside the ground after under-14s were allowed in for free with one adult for every 10 children.
Some 1,000 away fans are said to have travelled over for the match, with 400 not having tickets for the game.
West Midlands Police Force Support Unit tweeted: "Slovan Bratislava fan arrested in Wolverhampton following a report of a racially motivated public order offence.
"We think he'll miss the match and possibly his flight home.

Slovan fans clash with police outside Molineux
One officer is seen punching a fan to the ground as a group of supporters rush a line of police.
It comes after another supporter was arrested for an allegation of a racially motivated public order offence, ahead of the Thursday night game in a separate incident.
There were also reports of trouble on Wednesday night at the Red Wings Lodge, near Molineux, when a flare was allegedly set off inside the building.
Some 1,000 away fans are said to have travelled over for the match at Molineux, which Wolves won 1-0 thanks to an injury time Raul Jimenez header.
Chief constable Dave Thompson tweeted to say the travelling Slovan fans, from Slovakia, were overall "very good natured".
He also said: "There was however a containment after some disorder tonight which was justified."
The force has quashed reports that a Wolves fan was stabbed after rumours were circulated on social media.
The clash took place outside the Steve Bull stand when more than a dozen police officers could be seen separating off a greater number of Slovan fans.
For many Slovan fans the party continued late into the night, with some also seen revelling around the Chapel Ash area of the city during the morning rush hour on Friday.
West Midlands Police has been approached for comment.

A huge fight erupted in Oradea place, in the Budapest city centre, involving 300 hooligans. CSKA ones were joined by Polish from Widzew Lodz, Serbs from Partizan Belgrade and Bulgarians from CSKA Sofia. On Ferencvaros side, Slask Wroclaw supporters were present.
